Somehow ended with her being held captive in a pink bedroom, with a crazy alien outside convinced she was special.- Then darkness.

Someone was singing to her. She couldn't really make out the words, but she could hear the tune.

It was slowly and calming, like a warm hug; without the actually hugging. She could feeling the person gently stroke her hair as they sung. Whoever they were, was being so careful. As if she might disappear into thin air, if they brushed the wrong bit of hair or pulled a strand.

The person was happy, a kind of happiness that you couldn't describe. Even calling it pure euphoria seemed like an understatement. But there was something else, tucking inside the happiness there was fear, a light sprinkling of it. Nerves maybe.

She could feel it. It was strange, feeling that weren't hers; but it felt right somehow.

There was something else though; she couldn't describe it, a sort of deep warm, feeling, but whatever it was; it was powerful.

She never felt so at peace. All the pain was gone, leaving a warm presences in the back of her mind. The hand paused, stroking her cheek gently. Cara smiled, leaning closer towards the hand.

She never felt safer.

Something was shining in her face, Cara groaning, attempting to block out the light, tugging the covers over her head. It light didn't let up. "No…" Cara whined, lazily opening her eyes.

Pink.

She shot up, looking around the room. This wasn't her room.

The bed was too big and not a bunk and the entire room was in different shades of pink. A colour that she was not accustom too. Cara slowly pulling the covers higher, the call of sleep having to be put on pause.

Where was she?
The room looked familiar, but for some reason she couldn't quite place it.

A part of her wanted to call out, but another was rather against it.

Before she could cautiously weigh her options, the door opened revealing the man from the road. The man in pyjamas.

He was taller than she thought or maybe it was just the hair. He had big hair, brown. A little like hers, but hers was slightly darker.

His eyes were dark brown, but bright alive with energy, the eyes seemed to grow when he spotted her.

"Hello," he greeted, smiling wildly at her. Cara blinked, staring back at him. He wasn't wearing pyjamas anymore; instead they were replaced with a brown a pinstripe suit and a pair of Converse sneakers.

"How you feeling?" he asked, walking towards her, gently taking a seat on the end of the bed. Cara watching him, slowly edging backwards on the bed.

The man didn't seem the least bothered by her silence as he leaned closer towards her; seeming to study her face. "I'm the Doctor."

Nothing.

"I know this seems strange to you Cara, but I promise your safe here." he said gently. "How do you know my name?" Cara asked, swallowing hard. Her throat was completely dry.

"Jackie told me." The Doctor said simply. Cara slowly un-tensed. "Jackie?"

"Yeah." The Doctor said, smiling again. At least now she knew why the room looked familiar. It was Rose Tyler's. She remembered when Jackie showed it to her a few months ago, when she thought Rose was still missing.

It was nice. If this man knew Jackie then she was alright.

"How to you know her?" he asked, the question seemed simple, but he looked at her like it would unlock the secret of the universe.

"I, um…I bring her cookies." Cara said lamely, her answer while true sounding pretty pathetic. The Doctor nodded, suddenly getting up handing her a glass of water from a table.

'How did he know?' Cara thought taking the glass gratefully.

'You said your throat was dry.'

Cara choked on her water. The Doctor instantly flying to her side, taking the glass from her, gently rubbing her back, while she had a mini coughing fit.

"What did you do?" Cara cried, jumping up the second she recovered. Crawling to the end of the bed, almost on the floor. "Its okay, it's okay." The Doctor said raising his hands in a 'surrender' gesture.

"You-You're in my head!"

"You never had a psychic connection before?"

"You have!?" Cara gasped, her eyes (if possible) widening even more. "What's going on?" Rose asked, coming in taking in the scene in front of her.

"You've never been psychically linked before?" the Doctor asked, pulling out something from his pocket, waving it over her.

"No! What are you doing?" Cara asked, glancing at Rose, hoping for some sort of human reaction.

"That doesn't-that doesn't make any sense." The Doctor mumbled, looking at his weird stick. "I-How old are you?"

"Wha-"

"Just answer him, trust me. It'll make sense when you do." Rose said kindly, suddenly turning Cara.

Cara desperately wanted to argue, but this was really a two against one situation. And she didn't have Miss Hardy or Jackie to hide behind.

"Thirteen. I'm thirteen." Cara said, rubbing her wrists, edging closer towards Rose. She seemed the most normal for the time being.

"Thirteen. You're thirteen." The Doctor whispered to himself, the two girls almost seeing gears turning in his head. "What are you?" he asked suddenly.

Cara furrowed her eyebrows. "Wh-I-I don't understand."

"What are you?" the Doctor repeated, bending down to her height, waving his stick-thing again. "Human? A-"

"Yes. I'm human." Cara answered instantly. "I'm obviously human." The Doctor paused, staring intensely at her. "How's your head?"

"Good. Great actually. All the…pain's gone." Cara mumbled, for the first time realising that for the first time she had no pain at all. Not even a normal one that she usual had. Her mind was completely clear.

"For the first time?" the Doctor asked, setting down his stick-thing.

Cara nodded. "Yeah." she whispered. The Doctor swallowed hard, blinking rapidly. His eyes glazed over. "Rose, could you-"

"Er, sure." she mumbled, catching the hint. Quickly exiting the room, shutting the door with a light click. 'Oh, take me with you…'

The Doctor gently took Cara's hands (earning an odd look from Cara), sitting her back down on the bed.

"Cara, do you know what a Timelord is?"

"No." Cara replied, her mind inching to ask why, but sensing this was a very deep and important moment. Why she wasn't bolting to the door, she didn't really know. The Doctor nodded, saying nothing.

Cara bit her lower lip, deciding to risk it all. "What is a…Timelord?"

"Timelords are, were inhabitants of the planet Gallifrey." The Doctor explained slowly as if trying to find the best words suited for this conversation. "We created and upheld Laws of Time. For years we were able to protect the timelines. Although we physically resemble humans. Timelord physiology is different-Cara are you following?"

"Yeah," Cara stammered, glancing unsurely at the Doctor. "Different how?"

"We have two hearts, better strength and stamina, two or three brain stems depending, a respiratory bypass system, boasted larger brains, lower body temperature and as Timelord's the ability to regenerate." he explained slowly. "Do you understand?"

"Yes." Cara said, tucking some hair behind her ear. "Little question though, how do I fit into any of that?"

"Young Gallifreyans were known as Time Tots." The Doctor started. "They are our children. When they are young, Time Tots are incredible powerful and to protect their minds and their emotions from harm. Their parents connect to their minds, sort of like a psychic tether. Until the Time Tot is old enough and trained to protect their mind and their emotions themselves…Alright?"

"Hmmm."

"When, in the unlikely event that a Time Tot's telepathic connection, to their parent's is severed. They subconsciously search for someone else to-connect to. In this case a Timelord would establish a connection and take over the job of protecting the child's mind and the child. Sort of like a guardianship." The Doctor continued, noticing her stiffen slightly at the word.

"When a Time Tot hasn't been 'connected' or 'bonded' to another, their mind is—vulnerable and dangerous, not just to them, but to anyone around them." The Doctor finished, still holding her hand tightly.

"Cara," he said, his eyes locked onto hers. "I am a Timelord and you are a Time Tot; the last Time Tot in existence." The Doctor said, leaning back watching her intently.

Cara looked up at him, her dark eyes transfixed on his.

"Bullshit."
