"I am a Timelord and you are a Time Tot; the last Time Tot in existence."
"Bullshit."
The Doctor stared, seeming rather surprised. Cara jumped up, folding her arms, happily that she was good at making quick escapes and keeping a person talking.
She had already located her jacket and shoes and which window was open. "Utter poppycock."
"I-"
"I'm sorry, but do you honestly think, I am meant to believe I'm an alien for the planet Galifey-"
"Gallifrey." The Doctor corrected.
"Whatever." Cara replied, discreetly sliding on her shoes. "And I'm a 'Time Tot' and the reason I have headaches is because I haven't been 'bonded'. Do I really look that stupid?"
"Cara listen to me, I-" the Doctor started, getting up. "I think I've heard enough." Cara said sharply, grabbing her jacket.
"I don't know, what you and Jackie's daughter are playing at and I don't care, but whatever it is. Leave me out of it. I'm going home." she said pulling her jacket on, marching out the door; almost toppling Rose who were clearing attempting to listen in.
"Cara, wait!" The Doctor called, following her. "It's dangerous for you-"
"What leave?" she said, whipping around facing Rose and the Doctor. "No offense, but I've had quite enough, of you two. You're all crazy!" she cried, grabbing the door handler, slamming it behind her.
Jogging down the steps, taking two at a time Cara zipped up her jacket, glancing over her shoulder. Finally reaching the bottom, pulling up her hood; she ran all the way home.
"You're all crazy!" Cara cried, grabbing the door handler, slamming hard behind her. The Doctor instantly made his way to the door, about to follow her.
Rose grabbing his arm, holding him back. "Wait, if you go after her—your just gonna scare her." she said, gently.
The Doctor sighed, running his fingers though his hair. "I can't leave her out there alone, Rose, she could really hurt herself."
"Ya, I know, but—you can't go after her. Not now-"
The door opened as Jackie walked in setting down a bag of groceries. "Oh, what's this? Cara up yet?"
Cara leaned back on her bunk, curling up in a little ball. She shared a room with Sam, a girl about two years younger than her. Shutting her eyes, she looked up, staring up at a few old drawings.
She used to draw a lot when she was little. When she was eight her foster father had gotten furious at her for some strange reason, before throwing all of her pictures into the fire. After that drawing seemed—silly almost.
Something pointless.
She always drew the same thing somewhere in the corner of her pictures. A little doodle. Circles, with smaller ones on the inside, and lines connecting to each thing. Almost like the inside of a watch.
The exact same one. Never a line out of place, Cara sat up lightly tracing over one of her pictures. Before, reaching under her bed, pulling out a box. It was a little box, round with a little glass lid over it. The symbol again, drawn on the glass lightly.
A sharp knock on the door, snapped Cara out of her daze. "Come in." she called, sliding out of her bed. Miss Hardy walked in, smiling at her from the doorway. "Hey, you okay?"
Cara shrugged. "Yeah," she said, plastering a smile on her face. She hadn't told Miss Hardy about the whole 'I'm a Timelord' and 'The Doctor'.
She didn't really want her to hear about the whole thing, if it sounded crazy to her, she could only imagine what Miss Hardy would think. Probably ship her, Rose and the Doctor to a mental home.
Instead she told her that the beam had freaked her out and that Jackie told her to stay over since it was too late to walk back home. Lucky for her, the story was believable.
Jackie Tyler was a notorious mother hen.
"Great." Miss Hardy said. Her eyes were sparkling. "I have gre, no-wonderful news." she said, clapping her hands together, grinning from ear to ear.
"Really?" Cara asked, crossing her legs leaning forwards; attempting to feel excited. "What?"
Miss Hardy stepped back as a man in a long brown coat walked in. A coat, a pinstriped suit with big hair. Cara stared wide eyed. 'Oh, come on!'
"We found one of your relatives. A blood relative." she said excitedly, clapping her hands together again.
The Doctor smiled at her, tucking something into his pocket. "Hello, there Cara." he said, grinning at her. "I'm the Doctor.
"Okay," Cara mumbled, shutting the door behind Miss Hardy, glancing back at the Doctor who was sitting on a chair near her desk; looking around the room with interest. "How did you find me?"
"You're my Time Tot, I'll always be able to find you." he said as if he were stating the obvious. "What's this?" he asked, pointing to one of her inventions.
"Nothing," Cara said, waving it off as the Doctor continued to play with the bits of machinery and papers on her desk. "What did you mean your?"
"I bonded with you. Can't have you running around with an unprotected mind so young." The Doctor replied, pulling on a pair of glasses inspecting one of her inventions. "Did you make this yourself?"
"Yes." Cara said, sliding down on her bed, running her fingers though her loose hair. "You're not going to stop about this Time Tot thing aren't you?"
"You can't possible not think a part of you knows I'm telling the truth." The Doctor said wryly, glancing at her before returning his attention onto the invention. "What's it do?"
"It's a replication." Cara said, jumping up taking it from his hands. "It's supposed to be able to recreate things that you'd need. Clothes, food, whatever with just a single cell of the thing that is intended to be replicated."
"Does it work?"
"Well, considering I'm not sitting in a room filled with teddy bears. No." Cara said, jumping up, tossing it back to the Doctor. "All it does is replicate smoke and the occasionally explosion."
"What do you mean, I know your telling me the truth? That I'm an alien from another planet and apparently have two hearts and telepathy?" she asked, pacing up and down her room.
"Clever girl like you. You can't possibly think that's not a possibility?"
"Why not?"
"You're still listening to me." The Doctor said simply, leaning back in the chair, smirking at her. "If you didn't believe me you'd have turned me out already, or told Miss Hardy about this morning. You trust me. Well a part of you does anyway. You're trying to fight it, but there's a part of you that instinctively does. It has for a while. Instinctively trying to find me. That's why you came back-
"I came back to give Jackie her money back." Cara shot back instantly.
"During an alien crisis, the only thing on your mind is giving Jackie Tyler her 10 pounds back?" The Doctor said sceptically, raising an eyebrow.
Cara swallowed hard, biting her lower lip; watching the Doctor stare at her a smile playing on his lips.
"Okay," she said, pausing in her pacing. "Say, I believe you. Hypothetically," she added, seeing the Doctor's face instantly light up. "I would want to see some proof."
The Doctor nodded thoughtfully. "I could give you that." he said slowly getting up, tucking his glasses back into his pocket.
Cara smiled, grabbing her jacket from her bed. "Good, where we going?"
"You'll see," he said mysteriously, striding towards the door, opening it for her.
"Wait," Cara said, pausing in the doorway. "How did you convince Miss Hardy you were a long lost relative of mine?"
"Oh," the Doctor said, digging in his coat pocket, fishing out a small brown leather pouch, almost like a wallet thing. "With this." he said, flipping it open showing it to her.
Cara blinked, staring at the paper. "It's blank."
"What-" the Doctor started, glancing at the paper, before back at her. Starting to grin like mad man. "Oh! Oh Cara, you and I are going to have some fun."
