Hello, my lovelies! I thought I'd update "Eternal Flame." As always, thank you for supporting me through this journey! You guys are awesome! Keep the faith, guys!

Until the day
Until the world falls away
Until you say there will no more good-byes
I see it in your eyes
Tomorrow never dies

The morning mist seemed to make everything seem like something out of a dream as Caroline walked through the woods. She didn't know why she was out here, but then again, she did know why. She was having trouble sleeping and instead of trying to fight it, she chose to go for a walk in the woods. Of course, she made sure that she packed some bags of B positive in case she got hungry, as well as to avoid the temptation of attacking a defenseless hiker, like she did when she first became a vampire and she was struggling with the blood cravings. As she continued her hike, Caroline sensed that she wasn't entirely alone out here. She used her senses to scan the area and see if she could detect who was following her. When she looked behind her, she saw no one. Great, her senses were playing tricks on her.

Sighing, Caroline decided to continue her trek, thinking that Mother Nature would help to ease her nerves. However, she got that feeling again and turned around to see who or what it was. Just like before, there was nothing.

"All right, whoever you are, you'd better cut it out," she said. "This isn't funny!"

No sooner did she say this than she bumped into something, causing her to fall backward, but her hand was grabbed, preventing her fall. "Careful, love, wouldn't want you to have an accident, now would we?"

Caroline gasped. That accent, she knew it from anywhere. No, he couldn't have been the one following her, could he? When her blue eyes met the greenish blue ones belonging to the Original hybrid, she realized that he was. "Klaus? What the hell are you doing all the way out here?"

Klaus smiled at her. "What else? Keeping an eye on my girl."

"But, I didn't ask you to follow me," said Caroline. "Besides, I was just taking a walk because I couldn't sleep and thought walking would help relax me a bit."

"Why couldn't you sleep, love?" said Klaus. "Something troubling you?"

"Well, that's just it, I don't know."

"You don't know?" said Klaus. "There has to be an explanation for your insomnia."

"That's what I kept telling myself." She sighed. "Though, it could be nothing, except maybe a wild imagination. Yeah, that's it, my wild imagination is keeping me up at night." She saw the look he was giving her. "What? You don't believe me?"

"Oh, I believe you, love, really I do," said Klaus. "As a matter of fact, I often suffer from the same thing."

Caroline scoffed. "You have a wild imagination too?"

"Of course," said Klaus. "And I combat it by painting what is going through my mind at that moment, regardless of what it might be."

"Any chance that I'm one of the things that goes through your mind?" I don't know what kind of an answer I'm going to get from that, but it's worth a shot.

Klaus smiled. "You go through my mind constantly, Caroline. There's not a moment that passes without me thinking of you at least once." He took her hand. "You have no idea the effect you have on me, love."

Caroline didn't know what to say to that. Of course, what could she say to that, especially since he had said it so eloquently. Shit, why did he have to have such a way with words?

Klaus then took advantage of her speechlessness and pulled her to him, kissing her softly. Caroline didn't hesitate to return the kiss, enjoying the sweetness of his lips, bringing her free hand up to his cheek, shivering slightly as his scruff made contact with her skin. After a few minutes, they pulled back, saying nothing and just looking into each others' eyes. Of course, there were no words to describe how this moment felt for them. Then again, who needed words when their emotions were enough?

They were so wrapped up in their moment that neither of them cared that the sun was rising ever higher around them, because all they did care about was the moment they were having.

Note: I'll end here because I don't want to repeat anything that was already said. Enjoy, lovelies, and keep the faith!
