Hey, my lovelies! I thought I would update "Eternal Flame," since I haven't in a while (the last time being January 25).

And I don't wanna fall to pieces
I just want to sit and stare at you
I don't want to talk about it
And I don't want a conversation
I just want to cry in front of you
I don't want to talk about it
Cuz I'm in Love With you

Boston, March 5, 1770

Caroline heard the shots behind her as she headed down the street. Just a few short hours ago, a fight had broken out on King Street, where British soldiers fired into the crowd. While she was fortunate to not have been anywhere near the scene when it broke out, her vampire hearing could hear everything. It wasn't that she liked the blasted Red Coats, she didn't, but the constant hostility that was brewing between them and the people of Boston was enough to make her wish that there was a way to rid the Colonies of the oppression thrust upon them by that vile King George.

She was half way down the street when she was grabbed and pulled into a nearby pub that had been evacuated. Once inside, she was about to yell at the idiot who had done it when she saw...

"Klaus? What are you doing here?"

Klaus sighed. "What else? Looking for you. I saw the fighting that broke out and I feared the worst. Not that I doubted that you'd get away because you're a vampire, but you can't blame me for worrying about you, can you?"

"No, I suppose not," said Caroline. "But, it's still dangerous for anyone to be here. There has nothing but hostility between the British and the people of Boston for months. I'm not saying that I support it, I don't, I hate it, but..."

"No need to explain, love, I know exactly what you mean," said Klaus. "The blasted British think they're better than us. Well, that will soon be remedied. The Colonists are planning to gain their independence from King George."

"Really?" She ran a hand through her hair. "I guess this means that Dr. Franklin hasn't been able to get him to see our side of things. I was so certain that he would."

Klaus nodded. "Then, perhaps you should've put your faith into someone else, love. Everyone knows that Benjamin Franklin is a womanizing old crackpot that likes to play with kites in a storm in order to capture lightning and say that he discovered electricity."

"Klaus, did you come here to save me or poke fun at Dr. Franklin?"

Klaus smirked. "Would you hate me if I said it was a little bit of both?"

Caroline glared at him. "I should've known better than to ask that question." She noticed the blood on his face. "Let me guess, you fed from one of the soldiers that opened fire on the street?" Before he could say anything, she added, "Wait, don't answer that because I already know what you're going to say. I may not have been a vampire as long as you, but I know more than you think I do."

Klaus smirked again and pulled her to him, kissing her passionately and not giving a damn if the blood on his lips was getting on hers. Truth be told, he had wanted to kiss her since he pulled her into the building, but held off until she was finished speaking before he made his move. Caroline moaned as she returned his kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck and reaching up to run her fingers through his hair. After what seemed like forever, they broke the kiss and for a few minutes, there was silence as they stood there, blue eyes meeting bluish green. Finally, it was Caroline who spoke before the lengthy silence drove her mad.

"Klaus?"

"Hmmm?"

"Where do you think we should go?" she replied. "I don't think I want to stay here in Boston. I have a feeling that things are going to get worse before they get better."

"I think I know the perfect place," said Klaus. "There's a place that the French settled in Louisiana called New Orleans. My family would definitely welcome you, especially when I tell them how important you are to me."

"You really think your family will welcome me?" said Caroline. "I mean, compared to them, I'm a peasant, and they're royalty. Last I checked, peasants and royalty don't exactly go well together."

"Our differences don't matter to me," said Klaus. "What does matter is how we feel about each other."

Caroline wanted to protest but decided against it, knowing that he'd only match her blow for blow until she finally surrendered. Shaking her head, she sighed again and kissed him softly. Just like before, there was silence between them until it was Klaus that spoke.

"Does that mean you agree to come to New Orleans with me?"

Caroline smiled. "It's as close to a yes as you're going to get. Now, how about we get out of here before I change my mind?"

Klaus nodded and, kissing her again, vamp sped them both out of the pub and toward their new home in New Orleans.

Note: Don't ask, I thought I'd attempt a Klaroline one shot set during the Boston Massacre (it's partially thanks to watching Sons of Liberty on The History Channel). Anyway, enjoy and stay tuned!
