Hello, lovelies! Thought I'd update "Eternal Flame," since I haven't updated in a while (the last time being July 7). Things in my real life have been hectic, and inspiration has been lacking. Thankfully, I have a break and I shall share the next installment of my drabble series.

Through the dirt and the gravel

Through the years and the miles

Every road that you travelled

Through the tears and the smiles

Through the clear and the muddy

Through the thick and thin

The quiet nights, the howling wind

Through the good and the ugly

The blue and the black

To the ends of the Earth

To the moon and back

Klaus smiled as he looked at the food the servants were placing on the table in the dining room of the Mikaelson mansion. He was excited, and for good reason. Caroline was coming over for dinner and he wanted everything to be perfect for the blonde vampire that had been a blessing in his eternal life. She was the light to his darkness and there was nothing in the world that he wouldn't do to make her smile.

He was still looking at the spread when he heard the doorbell. Looking at the clock, he saw that it was precisely 6:30, the time he had told Caroline to be here. She was punctual, which was one of the many things he loved the most about her. Not wanting to keep her waiting, he went to the door and opened it to reveal the smile belonging to Caroline. She was wearing a dark green dress with matching pumps, which really brought out the blonde in her hair. Smiling again, Klaus kissed her hello, which Caroline returned half a beat later.

"Good evening, love."

"Good evening," she replied. "When you called me earlier and invited me over for dinner, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to spend the evening with you."

Klaus then stepped back and took her arm, leading her into the dining room, where the food was set out. Caroline gasped in delight when she caught sight of the spread. Shit, he really went all out, didn't he? Then again, this was Klaus, and he did everything in style.

"Do you like it?"

His question brought her out of her reverie and she nodded. "I love it. This looks so good. You really outdid yourself this time."

"Nothing but the best for you, Caroline," said Klaus. "You know that I love to spoil you."

Caroline didn't get to reply because he then escorted her to her chair, pulling it out for her and when she was seated, he pushed it in and, kissing her cheek, went to his place. Caroline didn't know where to begin, since there was so much food. I'll say this for Klaus, he definitely likes to do things big. Seeing as how he has more money than God, it's only fair that he should indulge not only himself, but me as well.

"Don't be shy, love," said Klaus, seeing that she was hesitant to take something. "Help yourself."

"I just…don't know where to begin."

"Just start from the outside and work your way in."

Caroline nodded and grabbed some chicken, potatoes with gravy, green beans, and some bread. She then grabbed a glass with champagne in it. She didn't know exactly what they were celebrating tonight, but something told her that she'd find out eventually. Knowing Klaus, it was probably something concerning them.

Clearing her throat, she said, "So, Klaus, what's the big occasion? This is too fancy for just a casual dinner."

"I'm glad you asked, love," he replied. "Tonight, precisely four years ago, we fell in love."

Caroline licked her lips. "It's been that long already? Wow, I had no idea. Guess time really does fly, doesn't it? I hope you're not disappointed that I didn't do anything for you, Nik. I mean, you're doing something for me and…"

"You didn't have to do anything for me, love," said Klaus. "The best thing you can do is be here as we celebrate together. Elijah offered to have a party for us, but I told him that it's better if we had something private."

"It was still nice of him to offer."

"It was, wasn't it?" said Klaus. "I'll probably tell him that if the offer still stands, we can let him throw us a party."

Caroline was about to reply when she heard music playing and stood up, going over to Klaus, taking his hand. "Come on, Nik, let's dance."

Smiling, Klaus got up and when they entered the ballroom, they held each other close as they swayed to the music. This was definitely the perfect evening and it was commemorating a very special occasion for them.

Note: Yeah, couldn't think of anything else to put here, so I'll end it here. Enjoy and stay tuned!
