"The road to hell is paved with good intentions"
Nakagawa Corporations Headquarters, Sakai, Osaka, Japan.
"The act is so questionable in law as to make it against Japanese values."
Hitomi Nakashima's talking points had been aided by an analytical software and then checked by Legal and Public Relations Officer. Both had advised Nakashima, the CEO of the company, that the most effective approach was to spin the recent government proposal to give it power to order any Japanese corporations to sign any contract or fill any order necessary for national defense, the 2025 Defense Production Act as something out of the Chinese playbook.
The CEO was now explaining to the shareholders that Nakashima Corp. was joining a coalition of multinational firms that, using both the courts and lobbying effort in the Diet, to resist the new imposition; the similar effort also occurred in many Allied countries as the war grinds into a crawl.
"Japanese values does not involve defeat!" a 58 years old man in formal business suit shouted back at him. He knew not to ignore him. Takahiko Arima was a multibillionaire who owned 10 percent of his outstanding shares.
The CEO tried to repeat the talking points' core premise, that a corporation's status as a legally defined individual meant that the government couldn't tell it what to do, even in a time of war.
"Legally defined individual?" Takahiko retorted. "Nakashima-san, you know that's preposterous and you know that people expect this company to help the country any way it can. Heck, you did so during earthquakes and typhoons! And there are many of other companies out there had join the war effort, in Japan or outside it. And I am not talking defense contractors only."
Before he could reply, another voice broke in. A Swiss-German accent. One of the institutional investors, in this case representing a sovereign wealth fund from Kuwait, who like other oil producing Middle Eastern and North African countries had declared neutrality. The said fund had bought a 35 percent position when Asian share prices tumbled after the Invasion of Japan and almost 80 percent occupation of Taiwan.
"Mister, I appreciate this company's quaint practice of letting anyone speak at these forums, but you simply fail to understand the multinational nature of this enterprise now. The global shareholder base must come first. This concern is not in the business of any one nation's war. No matter where it is based, it is a global technology corporations, definitively neutral in its activities and intent," he said. "The desires of Japan, or whatever your outdated idea of a national existence, is now beside the point."
Hearing the crowd growl, Nakagawa winced at the fund manager's gaffe. So typical.
The globalists loved the company's returns but didn't bother to understand its history which heralded back to the Meiji era.
"Ladies and gentlemen, let's try to keep focused," the CEO interceded. "This is not just about the Japanese government overstepping its powers, however limited those now may be. We're walking on a thin ice. The Chinese and the Russians has rigged our corporate network and plants with enough tripwires and viruses that we might lose control of the company if they don't like the way I part my hair. You people definitely knew what happened to Toshiba."
"Yet look at other companies like Mitsubishi, Ajinomoto, NEC, AEON, and Toyota and how they managed to stand against the Communists by cleaning those bugs you mentioned." Takahiko retorted. "If there is a will, there is a way. And as long as we are still fighting, there is still hope. I am calling a vote."
There was no loss of life as Takahiko scored yet another victory for him.
Three days ago in a similar case in Shinjiro Media Holdings, he and a fellow multibillionaire Kojiro Tsurumaki had managed to persuade Japanese investors led by Sumitomo Mitsui, to make good on its true allegiance and boot out every shareholders from Shanghai Pact members.
Back in Nakagawa Corporation, the sovereign wealth fund and other non Japanese voting bloc proved impotent to stop the small investors and representatives from Takahiko-owned AMFG (Arima-Minami Financial Group) from winning. And by the end of the meeting, Nakagawa had joined hands with a growing number of Japanese companies joining the nation at war with the Accord.
The color drained from the CEO's face as he stared out at the thousands of cheering people in the company auditorium.
"It's takeover time." It was the last word Nakashima heard before blacking out, and two thoughts crossed his mind at the same time. The first was that he'd have a hard time finding another job after this debacle. And the second was that Japan's technological and logistical backbone has further strengthened, a hard lesson learned from it's defeat in World War II.
"This is what we do for our kids." that's what Takahiko said to himself while heading back to his own office in central Tokyo, quoting a favorite movie of his. "Yippee ki-yay, globalist motherfucker."
Cabinet Office Briefing Room, Nagata District, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, Japan. November 22nd, 2025. 0508 hours JS
"How's the military situation so far?" asked Prime Minister Nishikino to his generals and related ministers.
"Nishikino-shosho, 75% of Kyushu has fallen to the enemy but the important city of Fukuoka, Kitakyushu, and Oita is still in our hands. To make things worse Chinese airborne troops had landed behind our lines in Shimonoseki. In addition, they've made landfall in Shikoku Island, targeting one of our THAAD sites, but the recently-raised 2nd Airborne Brigade, as well as the 14th Infantry Brigade and National Guard had halted their advance backed with our own and allied airpower. Supply problem forced them to hald 35 km from Hiroshima and 55 km from our Anti Ballistic Missile Site in Hagi." reported the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staffs of the National Defense Force, General Kentaro Yuasa, JGDF.
"I see," answered the PM.
Maneuvering soldiers in Japan is hard. It's mountainous and forested terrain, much like Korea, only allowed so many units to engage each simultaneously; so basically a few regiments or brigades were engaging each other head-on and the rest would have to be in reserve. The rough terrain also allowed a degree of advantage for cut off units and National Guard to resist enemy occupation guerrilla-style.
Modeled after Scandinavian home guards, the National Guard or Kokuyu Keibitai is Japan's voluntary militia served as a second line of defense after the NDF Reserve.
On the other hand, he also learned in his spare time that many of the Communist's light armor are amphibious and heavy-lift choppers like the Mi-26 that could airlift artillery and light tanks to outflank the Allies as well as the fact that the Chinese, Russians, and North Koreans possessed a good number of mountain-trained troops. Furthermore extensive air defense, artillery (including ballistic missiles), EW, and cyber-warfare capabilities possessed by the Communists were also a significant factor.
"CDF are still fighting as I speak to ensure the government services' integrity remain intact.. especially ministries regarding security as well as continuing the effort to stick our own medicine to them beyond their Great Firewall. Especially their surveillance systems. Those people tend to forget that we also got our own AI to play with." reported the commander of the said force, General Masako Yukihira.
"For now, we're going to focus on finding a way to outflank the enemy."
"Well, everyone." General Yuasa showed a map on one of the screens inside the room "The town of Iwakuni. one of the towns and cities along the Hiroshima Bay, strategically situated within the San'you-honsen (Sanyou Main Line), San'you Shinkansen, and San'you Expressway. If we could send a force across here and take the town, we could then cut off the entire enemy force across Yamaguchi Prefecture..."

11th Tank Regiment Task Force, 5th Mechanized Brigade, 1st Infantry Division
2nd Lieutenant Arima Kousei
"This is called Operation Heisei Legacy." Colonel Tomoya Okazaki's hand was on a printed map the Hiroshima Bay and the town of Iwakuni.
As both NATO/PSDC and the Accord continue their cyber jousting with no end in sight, and almost every night the sky was lit up with satellite debris from the outer space as it dies in a fiery fashion, older pieces of technology were coming out from near- retirement co-existing with modern ones.
Landlines, the one Okazaki used to communicate with HQ along with older, while secured, flip-phones, were part of such revival.
"The task force's role will be supporting the assault by two Task Forces from 8th and 46th Rapid Regiment of the 13th Brigade with their objective is to take out Chinese HQ in Iwakuni Castle."
"First, we are to retake residential areas in Kawashimo-machi and Kuruma-machi ward. Then, we're heading northwards to neutralize the Russian main HQ in the city in Shirasakihachimangu temple. Finally, as the 13th Brigade proceed towards the castle itself, we'll head south to assist our combined amphibious force; 2nd Fleet-Marine Expeditionary Unit of the Americans and our 3rd Amphibious Regiment, in defending against enemy counterattacks."
"We have a home field advantage as one of our biggest and meanest ship in the fleet will back us up, the JS Fuso, while theirs are spread over the wide area of the Pacific."
Belonged to the stealthy Zumwalt-class and classified as missile destroyers by the Americans, the 610 feet Fuso was a sight to behold, it's classified as a missile cruiser by the Japan Maritime Defense Force with its powerful load of missiles and a pair of 155mm guns, a same caliber as our land based artilleries.
Despite being a land-lubber, I learned enough naval affairs to understand one or two things about that ship; about how cooperation between allies; in this case the United States and Japan, created a working weapons system, despite it's kinks that come with anything that is the first of its kind. It faced instability at sea thanks to its tumblehome hull design; the systems were faulty; the propulsion system was prone to random stoppages and didn't deliver enough juice. The hull design also leaked water at poorly fitting seams.
Only political interventions and persistent military efforts in both USA and Japan kept the program alive, with it's immense power generation capability and room for upgrades sought by both countries, including, what Kaori and I learned, an electromagnetic railgun, especially on times when the US slowly steered away from counter insurgency operations and into great power competition once more.
In Japan, those behemoths were grouped together under the banner of Yamato-class. Four ships in service, Yamato, Musashi, Fuso, and Yamashiro plus two more under construction, Nagato and Mutsu, while the Yanks got 8 in service, only a quarter from the planned 32 copies for their navy.
"Intelligence said that the enemy strength in Iwakuni and the surrounding area consists of one Soviet mechanized brigade while the Chinese has one heavy armored battalion and in reserve, one mechanized brigade. They are not as well supplied as us but are still a formidable force. Expect Russian T-90s, Chinese ZTZ-96, and -99s, plus a lot of light armor. Many National Guard fighters had laid down their lives behind enemy lines for this intel."
"...Air supremacy is contested, and we should expect enemy armored reinforcements from San'yo Expressway and even airlifted armored vehicles by heavy-lift helicopters, while we're going to be backed by Harop and Tsurugi-1 drones, the enemy has their own swarm to play as well."
The latter vehicle, in the same weight class as Turkish Bayraktar series of Nagorno-Karabakh fame, was indigenously designed and manufactured in Japan as our country slowly built its offensive capability beyond the home islands, while the former, a kamikaze type, was initially imported from Israel before AM Aerospace commenced its licensed production. You are right, part of my father's corporate group.
"...And that's the good news for today. The bad news is that as nor GPS nor our Michibiki (2) has been fully recovered, expect a larger margin of error when calling precision strike, and you'll have to navigate with maps and your vehicle on-board sensors can only do so much as we also need to reduce our electronic tracks."
"When is the operation?" asked the commander of the B company, callsign Janken, Captain Naoto Suzukawa. A rock singer in profession and teacher in an idol academy, he's one of few celebrities who hold reserve commission before the war by virtue of ROTC training in college.
"November 28th," he said. "Command wants this to be done as soon as possible."
The time is really tight. Each delay means that the Reds will be able to further entrench themselves on our soil.
"Remember, No Japanese service personnel are to abuse, or mistreat enemy prisoners!" Okazaki paced back and forth before he faced us again.
"I once asked myself back at school about will things ever change." His tone became deeper as his pace of breathing slowed. "But as I grow up and now a father of two, it is. And we will change the situation our country is currently facing, by doing what we can to send those communists back to their origins. We won't lose to any obstacles the enemy will surely put in front of us." He then bowed on all of us.
"Good luck everyone, and keep this in mind; most of you will live to see the Nisshoki fly over that city, and finally the entire nation once more. 11th Tanks, Ever?"
"Powerful!"
"For the Emperor, the Country, and the People, BANZAI!"
"BANZAI!"

"Incoming drones, take cover!!
At the assembly area, the howl of air raid klaxon means only one thing. And so the first taste of real war, when rattle of vehicle mounted anti-aircraft cannons shook the entire block out of their bed.
"You're lucky!" boomed Yadomi, whose command tank that he named Meiko Honma after his wife was not far from mine. "On some other day, we lost some tanks and vehicles before we even start moving!"
"Get your asses low before those thing struck again!" That was the no-nonsense voice of my platoon sergeant, SFC. Hiroyuki Minato.
Among the company, I have an unusually quick time to adjust and work together with Minato, complementing each other. I did the thinking, gave the orders, and led the platoon while Minato led the training and did the motivating, discipline, and the ass kicking, which to Minato were all one and the same.
Two descending fireballs lit the pitch black sky, followed by rush of jet engine roaring; the nearby fighters were sanitizing the skies.
As the clear signal blared, canteen, protective mask, weapons, everything bounced and banged against my body as I broke into a sprint to my tank which I named, for obvious reasons, my own wife.
KAORI ARIMA
Three other tanks in my platoon bear following names; my wingman Sergeant Fuji Kirigaya is Kirigaya Touko.
"Are you Morfonica fan?" That's what I asked Sgt. Kirigaya when I saw that name on his tank's gun barrel.
"Close and personal matter, sir. One of its personnel, Touko, is my sister. Plain and simple. Anyway I glad that you know the band, sir."
"Me and my wife are classically trained musicians but of course we appreciare other genres, that's why we know and enjoy pop bands as well."
"You are welcome, sir."
Minato's tank was named Kirameki or sparkle in Japanese, and the last, Sergeant Yumi Hanazono, the only female tank commander in the platoon. Her tank was named Kizuna or connection.
"All units start your engines!" commanded Okazaki from behind our position.
"4th Platoon, mount!" That's my wife's command for our infantry to board their pre-assigned Type 89s.
"Watari, bring this beast to life! Kitazawa, check computer for the last time, and keep an eye on any sign of trouble."
"Yes, sir."
"Yes, sir!"
I keyed the mike.
"Third Platoon, this is your commander speaking. Follow me."
2nd Lt. Arima Kaori
Upon the "all clear" signal, I hopped to my vehicle, named Hanabira or in English, Flower Petal, then positioned myself inside the commander's station, just in time as the reds began humping down arty on our heads.
As the march commenced, we keep tab on development outside Iwakuni.
"The 46th are laying on the enemy vanguard outside the city with flanks got covered by the 8th. After this we are going to reinforce them as their armor-heavy main force is not far away." I thought to myself.
The gunner will take over my duty as commander upon I dismount, hence a need for a relief gunner to sit inside the passenger compartment.
Sure thing, my slender frame was rocked significantly as the land was shaken by artillery duelling each other.
"Lt."
"Yeah?" The one who wanted a word from me is the first gunner/relief commander, Sergeant First Class Subaru Katayama. "Tell me what do you want to tell and make it quick."
"Ma'am, you can answer this later, but do you think we are going to bring this war to their soil?"
On the intercom I put on my reply.
"Your question is too early this time. Not even our higher ups know what's next."
"I understand, Ma'am... wait, identify, enemy scout squad. They have not yet seen us and the convoy."
"Engage before they call their arty or drones!
Modernized Type 89 has better stabilizers on it's turret allowing us to fire on the move as accurately as our tanks.
"Firing 35mm."
The hum of the turret being slewed towards an abandoned house, and then slow thuds of 35mm autocannon burst around the area. Short, but enough to ensure its neutralization.
"Enemy UGV (unmanned ground vehicle) detected on the woods, engaging." reported a second vehicle behind me.
"Keep moving!"
Katayama did contribute too, and the pair of unarmored Sharp Claw III tracked robots can only flee so much before going down by a hail of air-burst cannon fire.
I drew a short breath, reflecting how I had won my first battle with robots, but it won't be the last time those little things are active and dangerous.
"Excellent job, everyone."
2nd Lt. Arima Kousei
My night vision confirmed reports from leading platoons. Smoke were rising in the sky, joining together high above the horizon, Burning buildings and vehicles while rattle of gunfire went on our ears as the 46th continued their push.
An all-wheeled force with Mitsubishi Type 20 8 x 8 infantry combat vehicles and Type 16 maneuver combat vehicle with 105mm or 120mm guns for fire support role, the Rapid Deployment Regiments or colloquially called "mediums", as a whole are less well-suited for prolonged direct engagement with Chinese and Russian tanks.
The battle symphony has become more and more varied. The initial massive bombardment was replaced by irregular target of opportunity, while slow hum of propellers overhead signaled the presence of drones from both sides.
The anti drone crew are earning their stripes, on the ground and in the air.
"Incoming missile!" It seems one of the Chinese attack drones had recognized mine.
I swallowed a little bit, but continue the march, as I know that that it's not the end of the story.
"The SEKI system should work."
Here's how Seki system, Barrier in Japanese, works; it's a vehicle active protection system indigenously developed in Japan, it used powerful radar and explosive rocket interceptors to engage and destroy RPG rockets, AT missiles, and even high explosive shells launched by tanks.
"Missile intercepted." called Kitazawa, as outside cameras confirmed the report. That drone should either run or get wrecked. I chuckled internally.
Two hums, growing rapidly into roar of jet engines came screaming toward the small hill from the east just as the others had that night.
"Enemy aircraft incoming!!"
And without assistance, we stood little chance of hitting fast-moving jets.
"It could be Chinese own' derivatives to the Russian Flanker." I muttered as the column continue marching.
A Type 91 PSAM team somewhere in the scout cavalry's sector had no hesitation about engaging, however. My eyes watched through the night vision as the white smoke trail of a Type 91, also called Hand Arrow, surface-to-air antiaircraft missile raced up after the second jet, turned out to be Chinese J-16s. But it did not find its mark.
The Chinese pilot dropped small flares and made a hard turn and dive. The missile detonated harmlessly in midair as the second jet turned to join the first, and both disappeared up the small hill.
The problem for the communists had just started as a larger smoke trail from a Type 11 mobile short-medium range SAM somewhere behind our position went visible on my sight, added by tracers from anti-aircraft cannons.
As if to underscore that point, two more hums emerged from the north. But they had made a mistake by passing the same area as the first pair of J-16s. Two PSAMs raced up to greet the Chinese jets, one found its mark causing the jet to tumble over as if kicked from behind, then disintegrate in a rolling orange ball of fire. The first jet kicked in his afterburners, and turned back.
Kitazawa, who had also been watching.the engagement, let out an "Ah, neat! Hey, Private, you missed it!" if he were watching fireworks in Sumidagawa (1) instead of the destruction of a pilot and an aircraft worth multimillion renminbi.
The gunner then described, in his own colorful way, the action to Watari.
I have to admit that it was kind of neat.
"One less enemy jet to worry about, right?
Then I answered Watari. "That's right."
"This is Eagle 6, the cavalry had entered the city, we are following them in 2 minutes!" radioed Okazaki, and that's when radio chatters from the embattled medium regiments start coming in.
Just in time, as one of our drones detected a column of Russian armor and infantry which were about to head towards the 46th position
"... The Russians are heading towards our main bridgehead near the coast. Get them off the leading company!
And Yadomi chose to volunteer for Team Kirin to enter the battle first following the cavalry unit, whose Type 89-derived Type 90 recon vehicle, not to be confused with Kyu-Maru shiki main battle tanks, and Type 16 Kai maneuver combat vehicle with 120mm guns, while potent, are not intended for prolonged engagement with tanks.
2nd Lt. Arima Kaori's POV
4th (Mechanized) Platoon
"This is Kirin 6.. Be advised, the A Company of the 46th have been reinforced by the element of their B company, however they would like to have heavier tanks to come to their assistance."
It took four more Chinese UGVs knocked out and or jammed for us to reach the city. One managed to fire it's HJ-9 and then the explosion as the Seki interceptor on my platoon sergeant's vehicle stopped the missile.
"Kirin Yellow 6 Actual here, all units disembarked"
Our position was on the right side of a platoon from the 46th.
"We are just getting started. Soviet armor should be here by any minute now." That's what the lieutenant in charge of the platoon told me and my troopers as I got myself known. "I'm 1st Lieutenant Yutaka Kawaguchi."
"2nd Lt. Arima Kaori."
"Never expect we are having a celeb in our ranks, Anyway..."
"GET DOWN!"
BOOM!
We all know what to do as the barrage of enemy heavy 120mm mortars rained down the streets.
As my troopers scrambled to their stations and the older lieutenant did so; "Uesaka!"
"Yes, ma'am?" replied that radioman who is always with me, PFC. Soujiro Uesaka.
"Get me the company HQ, report our position and ask for updates from the drones."
The drones helped us in identifying the Russian troop carriers as brand new Kurganets-25s and to make matters worse, we were facing the one with 57mm autocannon.
"Incoming!"
"Smokescreen, people, get ready, and hold your fire!" I ordered, looking at the fact that the mortar shells that just landed in front of my platoon are smoke rounds.
From my tactical glasses pictures of Soviet mechanized infantrymen disembarked from their vehicles were getting clearer.
"On my signal, open fire."
"Yes ma'am"
Tsubaki was the first to open fire followed by her squad, decimating the first wave of Russian conscripts, however they were quickly regrouped and fall back.
Their determination was such that I decided to join the main effort.
Aiming my Type 20 rifle I only need two shots for my first Communist kill.
Surprisingly the Russian that I had just took down got an Asian look.
"Good shot, Lt." exclaimed Uesaka as through my night vision, I could see my second kill, another Russian grunt.
Calm yourselves... The effect was instanteous, the reality that we are now at war has been fully absorbed to my system, especially with my husband and friends on my side.
"No redemption without blood, and a good communist is a dead one." I solidified my grip on the Type 20 just as one Russian NCO aimed at me. I pulled the trigger, the sergeant who tried to implore his men to seek cover was dead, in front of an abandoned restaurant.
"Is this so, Sansou?" (Sergeant in Japanese)
"No!" I could listen to Tsubaki correcting one of her squad members.
The overall situation means that we can't afford to waste more time with the Russian vanguard, so I ordered my radioman to get our armor to move and clean house.
And I want tanks.
"Also get the company command for attack drone support. Hayaku! (hurry)"
"Yes ma'am."
"The ground is shaking!" stated another of my squad leader, Sgt. Hodaka Morishima.
"Here come their armor, people. Get the 110mm." commanded Tsubaki.
Two Kurganets rolled around the corner and advanced through the street backed by more infantry, it's 57mm ripped through two Type 20s and barely missed my platoon sergeant's Type 89 which gunned it's throttle to retreat while firing it's 35mm.
However those things quickly fell into our trap.
"Engage."
110mm Panzerfaust gunners returned fire, added with two shots reloadable Carl Gustavs, the rockets overwhelmed whatever armor they have.
The ruined troop carriers was used as cover for the infantry but not for long as I called Hanabira into action and with its wingman Hresvelgr cut the survivors down.
"Ma'am, incoming second wave of armor, the good news is, our tanks had caught up and are currently engaging them."
"Great news Uesaka. But we can't stay here for long" I replied as troopers from 46th we rendezvoused has called their own vehicle to pick them up.
...
2nd Lt. Arima Kousei
"Gunner-APAM-PC (armored personnel carrier), our 2," I called. "They doesn't know that we're waiting for them."
"Let's crash their party." reported my gunner. "APAM (multi purpose anti personnel, anti material round) loaded, Identify PC!"
"Fire!"
"On the way!"
Without stopping, Kitazawa brought the gun to life.
Kirigaya followed suit, and two Kurganets and a couple of it's supporting infantry got what they deserve upon the explosive shell made contact.
"Great shot, Red 2"
On the other side of the city, "Gunner-Sabot-Tank!" Minato radioed as his section had their sight on two 30mm cannon-armed BMPT Terminators rolled around a corner with a company of Russian infantry.
BMPT in Russian means "Tank Support Fighting Vehicle" Unlike traditional IFVs, those monsters were built using main battle tank chassis and particularly deadly against infantry, but cannot carry it inside.
"They must be backing the tanks." I muttered, so regardless of the outcome I ordered Watari to bring Kaori Arima closer to my platoon sergeant's position followed by Kirigaya Touko.
I saw one of the BMPT's turret raised upwards on one of the buildings.
And that's where I reached a good, unobsctructed range on its flanks.
"Fire."
I fired first, this time using depleted uranium sabot round while Kirigaya engaged the second BMPT. While the said vehicle have anti tank capability with four turret mounted Ataka laser guided missiles, it was no use as it and its wingman fell by our penetrators.
"Troops at 11."
"Switching to coax!" Kitazawa called. Outside, however, the building in front of us went life too. A shout of Banzai was one factor, along with the fact that people inside that office building are killing the remaining Russian infantry caught in the open, that prevent me to open fire on it.
Then two RPG rounds went off that building, but not at us.
"Identify, T-90s." Called Hanazono. The loss of its protectors only mean one thing for a Russian section of four T-90s.
A fair and square engagement.
Rolling back and forth through the debris-littered road, I am really glad for the dozer blade installed on my tank.
"Gunner-Tank-Sabot!"
I issued the fire command and watched as Kitazawa laid on the T-90. Hitting it would not be a big problem. Killing it was my concern. The gunner hit his laser range finder button with his thumb. The range return digits in the bottom of my console extension showed 750 meters. They sat and watched the tank advance. It rumbled along, straining to hold back behind the line of infantry. The gunner ranged again.
720 meters and closer.
We decided to let them advance until its time. A large inanimate object whose sole purpose was to kill Japanese and its allies.
Including me and my loved ones.
On a T intersection, it's now 700 meters in the rangefinder.
"FIRE!"
"ON THE WAAY!"
The flash, the recoil, and the blast broke the silence. Target! But the Russian kept coming, turning his gun on me.
"TARGET! REENGAGE-FIRE!"
The autoloader did its job as usual.
"SABOT UP! ON THE WAY!"
Again the flash, the recoil, and the blast announced the firing of a main gun round.
Again Kaori Arima hit the T-90, and now it returned fire.
Everything inside was shaken in almost the same instant that the T-90 fired.
Watari looked and yelled, "WHAT'S THAT?"
"NEVER MIND." We were hit for sure.
"All's Okay." my gunner called, then he went back on the gun.
"Sabot up!"
"Fire!" I commanded.
"ON THE WAY!" Our efforts were finally rewarded. The third had found its mark. The tank commander's hatch on the T-90 was blown open. A fireball rose above the city block and was followed by a sheet of flame. The T-90 was dead.
On my commander's console I saw a message from Kirigaya Touko that it had also destroyed one T-90.
I repositioned, only for a T-90 to be on my sight, just as its gun fired at whoever engaged it. The Soviet tank tried to back up only for it to get disabled by what turned out to be Minato's tank.
I decided to go on with guns blazing, Coax and remote controlled .50 cal raked supporting Soviet infantry.
Not long Hanazono reported that the last T-90 were down not just by her tank but also three RPG shots by several National Guard resistance cells embedded inside the city.
