Hello and welcome to chapter five of Pokemon Delta Emerald. I know my posting has been really erratic but these holidays have been much the same. I will say that after the New Year that posting will be more regular. That's pretty much everything I wanted to say so enjoy the story and review.
May sobbed in her room as she got a call on her cell from her mom. She answered as she dried the tears from her red face. She had since changed into her pajamas as she wondered where in the world Ryan was. Her mom popped up on her screen as she knew what had happened as Ryan told her mostly everything.
"May I heard you lost to that horrible girl!" Brenda said with disgust.
"Mom I'm not even mad about that... I made a terrible mistake," May said.
"Ryan told me everything right?" Brenda asked puzzled.
"I kissed him when he was consoling me... now he must hate me!" May cried.
"Darling he must have been fine with that as he didn't even tell me," Brenda said.
May dried the fresh tears from her eyes as she hopped into the bed. Ryan knocked on the door as May looked at her mom.
"May if I can give you some advice. Just talk to him about it. Love you," Brenda said.
"Love you too mom," May said as she hung up.
May opened the locked door for Ryan as he walked in. The tension was awkward as they were starring into each other's eyes.
"Can we talk about what happened?" Ryan asked.
"Sure... I didn't mean to kiss I was just in the moment," May said.
"Oh... yeah it was just the moment for me too," Ryan said.
May was disappointed that he didn't reciprocate the feelings as she wondered if he was just clueless or didn't like her.
"Do you like me though?" Ryan asked.
"Do you want me to be honest?" May said.
"Please," he said.
"I do like you and want to be in a relationship with you," she admitted.
Ryan considered this carefully as he had grown attached to May in this past week. He was worried that he would be rushing things as it had only been a week since they began their journey together.
"I just don't want to seem to forward. I like you too but we've only known each other for a week," Ryan said logically.
"But I like you too... if it's mutual then maybe we should just leap and give it a try," May suggested.
Ryan thought about it as he was overthinking it. If the feeling was mutual then it wouldn't hurt trying. He decided he was going to take to her fancy restaurant on a real date to get over the bad feelings of losing.
"Look you get cleaned up and we'll go on our first date," Ryan said.
"You really mean it?" May asked shocked.
"Yes what could go wrong?" Ryan said.
May nodded as she kicked Ryan out of the room to prepare for the night out on town. May was excited about the date as she reapplied her tear stained makeup and looked in the mirror. She looked way better then before as she slipped on her casual outfit as Ryan had his athletic wear.
"Looks like I'm ready to go," May said excitedly.
May came out of the room looking great as she kept her curly hair down. Ryan had his breath taken away as she was drop dead gorgeous.
"Do I look great?" May asked.
"You look stunning," Ryan said in awe.
"Well let's get going then," May said.
Ryan nodded as he took her by the arm and escorted out of the pokémon center and towards the downtown part near the Devon Corporation. They saw a familiar Team Aqua grunt running towards the north as the same scientist they met in the woods was giving chase. He stopped to catch his breath as he wondered where the man went. Ryan and May ditched their date plans to go help as they knew something bad had happened.
"Oh it's you two. You got to help me! Some Team Aqua grunt stole a top secret device and need it back right away!" the Devon scientist said.
"Don't worry we'll chase after him. Right May?" Ryan asked.
"Yes we will," May said.
They ran off into the distance towards Route 116 where the now abandoned Rusturf Tunnel was. The Team Aqua grunt had no where else to go as Ryan and May were going to catch him.
#
Ryan ran through a rainy Route 116 as night fell. They had finally reached the entrance to Rusturf Cave as they looked at each other. They saw an older man who looked like he was angry. Ryan looked over to May as she nodded they decided to go investigate the old man.
"Sir are you alright? Did you happen to see a pirate looking dude," Ryan asked.
"The name is Mr Briney and my beloved Peeko was stolen from me by that pirate lad!" Mr Briney yelled furious.
"Don't worry we'll find your precious Peeko," May said.
"Well get going then!" Mr Briney yelled.
May and Ryan went in the cave as they walked through the cave. Ryan held May's hand as she looked up and smiled.
"Such a romantic first date isn't?" Ryan said sarcastically.
May giggled as she liked when her date joked. They finally reached the dead end as they saw an angry Team Aqua member. The scared Wingull cowered in fear as the man was very angry.
"Damn stupid dead end! My intel must've been bad! Stupid scouts!" the Aqua grunt cursed.
"Hey stupid give back the tech you stole and Peeko!" May shouted.
"Huh! What the hell! Who in the blinding hell are you two kids?" the Aqua grunt asked very mad.
"I'm the one who's about to kick your butt that's who!" Ryan taunted.
"Oh yeah you bet you can beat me kid! We'll see about that! Go Poochyena!" the Aqua grunt yelled.
"Go Slakoth!" Ryan summoned.
The sloth pokémon came out as it was just slouching around. The Team Aqua laughed as he was surprised that Ryan would send out a sloth against his strong wolf cub.
"Hah really... I wonder how you even got this far with that thing," the Aqua grunt laughed.
"Well we'll prove you wrong," Ryan said trying to not let the grunt goad him.
"Poochyena use bite!" the Aqua grunt yelled.
"Slakoth dodge and use scratch!" Ryan yelled.
Slakoth tried to dodge but didn't as he was bit by the canine pokémon. Slakoth fell backwards as Ryan decided to call in Torchic.
"Slakoth return," Ryan said.
"Getting scared kid?" the Aqua grunt asked.
"Not really. Go Torchic!" Ryan called out.
Torchic popped out as the Aqua grunt laughed again. Ryan was starting to get mad at this grunt calling out his tactics. It was making him second guess himself as he knew that he had to defeat this grunt.
"Torchic use ember!" Ryan called out.
"Poochyena dodge!" the Aqua grunt ordered.
The Poochyena tried to dodge but was simply overpowered by the highly leveled Torchic. The Poochyena fell to the ground knocked out. The grunt called back his fallen pokémon. Ryan jumped up and down as the grunt dropped his parts and ran off. Mr Briney came running as he rushed towards his precious Peeko. He turned to face the two trainers.
"Who are you guys?" Mr Briney asked.
"I'm Ryan and I plan on becoming the next champion of Hoenn," Ryan said.
"I'm May and i want to be the top coordinator in the world hopefully..." she said shyly.
"Ah then I'll lend you favor. Come meet me at my cottage in front Petalburg Woods," Mr Briney said.
"The one with the big boat?" Ryan asked shocked.
"You're right lad," Mr Briney said.
"We'll be there as soon as we can. We still have some business in Rustboro to take care of," May said.
"I'll wait patiently now that you saved my precious Peeko," Mr Briney said.
They nodded as he walked out of the cave. They decided to head back to the pokémon center and get some sleep before going to the cottage tomorrow.

Ryan and May were standing in the Devon Corporate building as they held the Devon parts. It was early in the morning as the scientist still waited there for them. Ryan handed the parts to the scientist as he smiled.
"Thank you so much!" the scientist said.
"No problem... Do you need us for anything else?" Ryan asked.
"Yes our president wants to talk with your. He wants to thank you for your service."
Ryan and May nodded as they followed the scientist into the building as they went into the fancy elevator. They went up a couple of stories as they were excited to meet the president of the Devon Corporation. Ryan never heard the company as he was from Johto but May was always impressed with the tech they made. The elevator stopped as it led into an office with bookcases and photos of various historic moments in the history of the company. Ryan saw a picture of a young boy on his desk as the old man from the judging panel at the contest sat behind it.
"Ah you young ones must be the ones who saved this company from doom?" Mr. Stone asked.
"Yes sir," they both said.
"Great I have a request. I need a letter delivered to Dewford Town. I know you two will stop there," Mr. Stone said.
"Yeah don't we have to go by boat though?" May asked.
"Why don't you ask my friend Mr. Briney to help you cross the sea," Mr. Stone suggested.
"We met him in the cave," Ryan said.
"Ah I see then I'll let you go. Just deliver that letter to a man named Steven. He should be studying the caves near Dewford Town," Mr Stone said.
Ryan and May nodded as they were escorted back out of the room and back to the downstairs as Ryan decided it was time to give the girl he was unofficially dating a chance.
"Let's go and get some lunch and we'll head out," Ryan suggested.
"Are you suggesting a date?" May said.
"I am... why you want to back out?" Ryan asked nervously.
"No... No why would I?" May asked.
"Well I'm just nervous that I'm rushing things," Ryan admitted.
"Ryan I was worried about the same thing. If we both like each other why wait," May said.
Ryan couldn't see any fault with that logic as he was glad that May was being cool about this. They felt the warm heat from the tropical air as the sun was beating hard on them. They stopped at a cafe and went inside to cool off.
"Wow what a nice place," May said.
Ryan looked around and saw the various rocks that were found in the cave project before it was cancelled. Ryan loved the rustic feel of the place as the waitress came and took their orders. They got their drinks as they talked while waiting for their food.
"So you nervous about your fight with the next gym leader?" May asked.
"I am but I'm pretty sure I can beat the next gym," Ryan said.
There food arrived as they began eating. Ryan felt different when he was around May as he felt calmer and more confident. He felt at ease with her and hoped that this relationship would work smoothly. They finished eating as they grabbed their bags and ran towards Route 104.
#
Ryan and May had finally made it to the cottage as they let themselves in. They saw Peeko flying around the inside of the house as the old man meditated in the center of the two room cottage. The living room was simplistic as it had a bamboo floor and walls.
"I see someone is here. Peeko stop!" Mr Briney ordered.
The Wingull stopped as it flew to his owner and perched on his shoulder. Ryan was impressed that Wingull could sit still as it seemed to love flying.
"So the people from the cave are here. I can't thank you enough for rescuing my Peeko," Mr. Briney said.
"No problem... we need a favor however," Ryan said.
"Anything for you guys," Mr. Briney said.
"We need a boat to get to Dewford Town so we can deliver this letter from Mr. Stone," Ryan requested.
Mr. Briney nodded as he knew who the letter was for. He decided not to tell them who it was for.
"Anything for my old friend Mr. Stone! Come on let's get going lads!" Mr. Briney exclaimed.
They followed Mr. Briney out to the boat as it was beautiful. It was a small looking boat with a couple of seats. May and Ryan sat down as Mr. Briney manned the controls. The boat started to go as May grabbed Ryan's hand and held it. She felt sick to her stomach as she was getting seasick. She turned around and threw up into the water.
"You okay?" Ryan asked concerned.
"Yeah I'm fine," May said.
"I see you get a little sea sick. Here take these pills and you'll be fine," Mr. Briney said as he handed her two small tablets.
May took the tablets and swallowed them with her water from her bottle as she was still very disoriented. Ryan held her hand as she started to feel better.
"So Ryan where do you come from?" Mr. Briney asked.
"Well I come from Johto. Olivine City is my hometown," Ryan said.
"Ah Olivine is a beautiful city... what are you doing in Hoenn though?"
"Well my dad is the new gym leader of Petalburg City. So we packed everything up and moved to Littleroot Town."
Mr. Briney nodded as he knew that Petalburg had recently gotten a new gym leader as it was on the news about a couple of weeks ago. May was feeling a lot better as she rested her head on Ryan's shoulder.
"I assume you two are a thing?" Mr. Briney asked.
"Yeah... I never felt this way about someone," Ryan admitted.
"Well I would keep her... you two work well together."
Ryan nodded as May was able to hear what Ryan had to say. She was happy that he had feelings for her as she wondered if he was going to stick to the relationship they formed. She hoped that he would stay with her. She was worried that if he became champion and she became grand idol they wouldn't be able to spend anytime together. She decided to not worry about it as they were almost to Dewford Town. They could see a town in the distance as the sun began to set. It was beautiful as Ryan shook May awake. May looked up and saw the sunset as she smiled. A shooting star fell in the distance as she made a wish. She just hoped her wish would come true.
#
They had finally arrived on the island community of Dewford as they hopped of the small boat. Ryan decided to go to the pokémon center and get a room for the next couple days as he needed some rest. May was feeling a lots better from her sea sickness as she finally was on land.
"Thank Arceus!" May said as she stood on solid land.
"Dang you must've been real dizzy on the boat," Ryan said.
"You bet," May said.
"All right kids I got some business in town I'll met you back here when you're finished with you business lads!" Mr. Briney called out.
Ryan and May nodded as they went towards the pokémon center. Dewford was quaint looking island town as it was very smaller compared to Littleroot. Only about thirty people lived on the island. Ryan checked into the pokémon center as he ordered a two bed room. They got checked in and went to their room. Ryan and May left their pokémon to heal as they changed into their sleep clothes and get ready for bed. May couldn't sleep as well as Ryan. Ryan looked over at May in her bed as she looked at him.
"I can't sleep," May said.
"Neither can I," Ryan said.
May nodded as she knew that watching a movie may help them get to sleep. They switched the tv on and channel surfed until they found a documentary about the region. It was boring but effective in getting them to sleep as they were out like a light. It was two in the morning when Ryan was having a dream. He dreamed that the Hoenn region was flooding. He knew that this was a dream as he couldn't feel his body. He snapped awake as the thunder hit. May woke up too was she was scared of thunder.
"Wow we both woke up at the same time that's weird," Ryan chuckled.
"Is it all right if I hop into bed with you? I hate thunderstorms," May said.
"Sure that's fine," Ryan said.
May climbed into bed with Ryan as she snuggled up close to him. He felt at ease as they tried to get back to sleep. Ryan decided to ask one more thing before they nodded off.
"I had this weird dream," Ryan said.
"Is that why you woke up?" May asked.
"Yeah do you know of any reason the rain would take over this whole region?" Ryan asked.
"No in fact I don't know why. I wouldn't worry about it... it was just a dream after all," May said.
Ryan nodded as he kissed her on the head and turned the other way. He fell asleep relatively quickly as May cuddled with him. She hated storms as she heard the thunder. She tried counting Mareep as she knew that would help her sleep. She counted all the way to one hundred as she was growing tired. She eventually nodded off and went into deep sleep as she held Ryan. The night was relatively calm as the thunderstorm was going away towards somewhere else.
#
Ryan woke up with someone holding him as he decided to get a shower. He slowly got out of May's arms as he stepped in the bathroom. Ryan brushed his teeth and hopped in the shower. The warm water cascaded down his chest as he was feeling good. He still wondered about the dream last night as he shook off as a weird dream. Ryan turned off the shower as he walked out and changed into his red and green athletic trainer outfit. He put on his white beanie over his head as he walked out to see a sleeping May. He decided to wait to wake up as he decided to call his mom on the video phone. His mom came up as she waved at him.
"Wow you're up early," Darla said.
"Yeah I'm in Dewford Town," Ryan said.
"Oh so you're about to take on the gym there?"
"Yep and I'm ready to go."
"Don't get to cocky now."
Ryan laughed as he loved being confident in his battles. He knew it would be a tough one as they were no pokemon he had that were super effective against the fighting type gym leader.
"Ryan is May okay? I heard from her mom she lost the contest in Rustboro," Darla asked.
"Yeah mom I kissed her..." Ryan said nervously.
"Are you two a thing?" Darla asked shocked.
"Yeah mom we are. I just hope it doesn't get complicated."
"Don't sweat it Ryan. I'm sure everything will be fine."
Ryan saw May was finally up as she sauntered into the lobby and ran over to him.
"I got to go mom. Wish me luck!" Ryan said.
He hung up the call before his mother could even say goodbye. Ryan looked over at May who was smiling.
"You ready to go?" May asked.
"Always," Ryan said.
They walked out of the pokémon center and went out into streets as they decided to explore the town. They went to the town hall and stepped inside as the cold air hit their skin. A young boy came up to them as he wouldn't let them out.
"So you want to hear a catchy phrase I coined?" the boy asked.
"I guess if it moves you out of the way kid," Ryan quipped.
The boy prepared the phrase as May rolled her eyes. Kids could be annoying but she realized she was once a kid too so she should cut him a break.
"Potion Festival's is the phrase!" the boy exclaimed.
"Potion Festival's?" both May and Ryan asked confused.
"Pretty catchy isn't? I'll make sure this is said all across the region!" the boy said.
"In your dreams kid. You'd be better off sayin something like Mushroom Parties," Ryan joked.
"That's a great idea!" the boy said.
Ryan didn't realize what he had started as he really didn't mean to give the annoying kid any ideas. He decided to go with it as the kid obviously had nothing better to do and could do worse things.
"Thank you so much!" the boy said as he ran off to spread the phrase around the little club he had.
"Well that was interesting," May laughed.
"Yeah it was. Now lets get to the gym," Ryan said.
They walked through the small town as they held hands. May hoped that Ryan would be able to beat this gym as she was nervous he would not taking losing that well. She would be there for him no matter what.
