Anyways no updates other then the fact that I will be updating a lot more now due to finishing the rough draft of the story. I hope you enjoy the sixth chapter of Pokemon Delta Emerald.

Ryan and May stepped in front of the gym as it was probably the biggest building in this town. Ryan read the sign as it said the gym leader's name. Brawly was the gym leader as Ryan nodded and walked into the gym. May followed him into the gym as the bright lights flickered on. In the center of the gym stood a young man with sky blue hair and a black and orange spandex top with blue jean shorts. He had a pair of sunglasses that matched his shirt as looked over at Ryan.

"Ah so you must be my next challenger! I'm Brawly the master of fighting types!" Brawly passionately said.

"Ryan nice to meet you," Ryan said calmly.

May walked up to the stands as she was worried about Ryan's upcoming battle. May sat down on the cold bleachers as she watched the two take their spots on the battleground.

"Get ready for my fighting style kid!" Brawly shouted.

"Bring it on," Ryan said calmly.

"Go Machop!" Brawly summoned.

"Go Torchic!" Ryan called out.

The two trainers stared each other down as they looked at what they could do. Ryan would be relying a lot on Torchic as it knew the only attack that could be effective against the fighting type pokémon that Brawly had. Ryan was ready to call the first attack as he knew he had to be quick.

"Torchic use peck!" Ryan yelled.

"Machop dodge and use karate chop!" Brawly yelled.

Torchic pecked with its beak at the Machop as he countered with a karate chop which sent both pokémon flying. Torchic got up and began to glow as Ryan was wondering what was going on. Torchic turned into a bigger light yellow and orange chicken. Ryan knew that it evolved as he knew he had a Combusken now.

"Sweet I got a Combusken now!" Ryan shouted in glee.

"Don't count me out yet kid," Brawly said.

"Don't worry I have this match in the bag," Ryan said confidently.

Brawly nodded as he waited for his enemy to make his next move. Ryan studied the Machop carefully as he had to be careful to avoid a seismic toss. Ryan figured out the weak point as he got ready to call out a command.

"Combusken use peck one more time!" Ryan called out.

Combusken charged with twice the speed he had before and pecked the poor Machop as it fell to the ground. It was knocked out as Ryan pumped his fists in the air.

"You may have beat my first pokémon, but you won't beat my ace! Go Makuhita!" Brawly summoned.

A yellow bulky pokemon red circular cheeks and black gloves and markings came out. Ryan knew that this battle had to end quickly as this was the trump pokémon for Brawly.

"Combusken use Peck!' Ryan ordered.

"Makuhita counter with arm thrust!" Brawly said.

Combusken pecked at Makuhita as it slowly raised its arm and thrusted it into Combusken's chest. It went flying backwards as both pokemon were weakened significantly.

"Makuhita finish it off with another arm thrust!" Brawly called out.

"Quick dodge Combusken!" Ryan said.

Combusken was still recovering from the last attack as Makuhita thrusted his arms in Combusken's chest. The pokemon went flying back as May started to grow worried for Ryan. Combusken fell back and was knocked out. Ryan recalled his fainted starter as he sent out Lotad.

"Lotad finish this battle for me!" Ryan summoned.

Lotad popped out of its ball as it cried out. Makuhita was injured but still going as Ryan knew Slakoth stood no chance against the fighting type pokémon.

"Lotad use water gun!" Ryan called out.

"Makuhita use sand attack!" Brawly commanded.

"Lotad spray the dust into Makuhita's eyes!" Ryan countered.

Lotad aimed his jet of water into the dust storm as it went flying back into Makuhita's eyes. It was muddy as the pokémon tried to clear its eyes.

"Now Lotad finish it off with a mega drain!" Ryan confidently ordered.

Lotad drained the remaining health from Makuhita as it fell back to the ground. Makuhita was out as that was the last pokémon that Brawly had.

"Nice job kid," Brawly said.

Ryan stepped out the center as Lotad grew a white light. Lotad morphed into a light blue and green pokemon that stood on two feet. It had a red beak as Ryan scanned it with the pokédex.

"Lombre the jolly pokémon, it will mess with fishermen by pulling it's lines," Dexter said.

"Wow cool!" Ryan said.

"I don't know whether to call you lucky for having two pokémon evolve but here's the knuckle badge," Brawly said as he handed the badge.

May ran down to the field and tackled hugged her boyfriend. She kissed him as Brawly stood their awkwardly. They got up and said goodbye to Brawly as Ryan recalled his Lombre. Ryan was ecstatic that he got the badge and some new evolutions to his team. They decided to get some rest before delivering the letter to Steven.

Ryan went down to the beach of Route 106 and decided to have the rest of the day off after healing his pokémon. Ryan and May packed a picnic and were ready to have a great romantic date. They walked along the semi crowded beach as they picked a spot near a cove and more private.

"Wow this is such a great afternoon. Are you excited that you won your fight?" May asked.

"Yeah, I thought we would have a tough time after Combusken was knocked but I was able to last," Ryan said.

May nodded as she wished she could win a contest. She hoped the next one in Slateport would prove fruitful as she had trained a lot for the upcoming contest. She needed to catch another pokémon to add to her team.

"Something wrong May?" Ryan asked.

"Just thinking about the contest in Slateport... I mean I shouldn't have to worry cause Cyndi won't be competing but on the other hand there are some tough competitors entering," May answered.

"I wouldn't worry too much. You still have four more contests to win to get into the finals," Ryan said.

"I just worry I won't win any of them," May admitted.

"You did finish second last time so I'm pretty sure you'll win one eventually," Ryan said.

May nodded as she did agree that she would win one of the four remaining contests. She just hoped she didn't have to see Cyndi again.

"Maybe we should let the pokémon out for some fresh air?" Ryan suggested.

May nodded as she let out her Mudkip and Tailow. They ran off to enjoy the beach. Ryan let out his three pokémon as they ran off except for Slakoth who perched on Ryan's shoulder and took a nap.

"Wow you're Slakoth is funny and cute," May said.

"Yeah, I can't wait to evolve him. My father has three of his evolutions in his team," Ryan said.

"What do they look like evolved?" May asked.

"Well, they become big gorillas essentially. Vigoroth is energetic and powerful while Slaking is lazy but really strong if strategically used correctly," Ryan explained.

May loved hearing him talk like this as he was very smart when it came to using the full potential of each of his pokémon. She loved the passion from him as she found it to be very attractive quality in him.

"May you okay?" Ryan asked.

"Huh! Oh yeah I'm just day dreaming is all," May giggled.

"The weather is nice today isn't it?" Ryan asked.

"Yeah... nice enough for a swim maybe?" May said.

"Sweet let's go swimming!" Ryan laughed.

They had their swimsuits under their clothes as they stripped their top layers away and went into the water. The water was cool as they waded in the shallow part of the beach.

"Ah it feels so refreshing to have the water on your skin," May sighed in relief.

"Yeah, I agree," Ryan said.

They sat in the water together as they were finally bored and came back to the beach. They decided to pack it in. They dried off and got dressed as they headed to the cave to deliver the letter to this Steven person. Ryan was glad to get going as he wanted to get out of this small town. He would love exploring the Granite Cave as it held many mysterious texts that were recently discovered about the creation of the world.

Ryan and May came to the cave as they both walked through the entrance to find a hiker blocking the way. Ryan knew something had to be up to keep him blocking his way.

"Excuse me sir! Have you defeated Brawly?" the hiker asked.

"Yes, I have... why do you ask?" Ryan asked annoyed.

"You'll need this HM to even see in the lower levels," the hiker said.

Ryan now understood why the man blocked his way as the hiker had to give him the HM in order to even get through Granite Cave.

"Thank you, sir," Ryan said.

Ryan gave the HM to his Zigzagoon he had caught on his way back to Route 104 for the HM move cut as he taught it flash. Ryan stepped down the stairs with May holding onto him as he summoned his Zigzagoon to brighten the cave. The cave brightened as Zubats flew away and scurried off to darker parts of the cave. They walked through as they finally reached the second basement floor of the cave. They saw a yellow pokemon with a mouth on the back of its head.

"Oh, that pokémon is pretty. I'm gonna catch it!" May said.

May sent out Mudkip as they battled for a bit.

"Mudkip use mud slap!" May ordered.

Mudkip flung some mud on the pokémon as it cried out in pain. May threw her poke ball as it shook three times and dinged as May ran over to grab the ball.

"Sweet!" May exclaimed.

They continued on as they saw a man in a suit studying some ancient tablets. They ran up to him assuming he was Steven.

"Excuse me sir! Do you happen to be Steven?" Ryan asked.

The steel blue haired man in the fancy suit turned around as he saw the two young trainers. He wondered if his dad had sent them with a letter.

"Yes, I'm Steven Stone son of the president of Devon Corporation. I assume you have a letter from my dad?" Steven asked.

"Wait Mr. Stone is your dad?" Ryan asked shocked.

"Yeah, he is. Say are you taking on the pokémon gym challenge by a chance?" Steven asked.

"You bet... you look familiar for some reason?" Ryan asked confused.

"He used to be the champion of the Hoenn league until he retired a year ago to Wallace," May explained.

"Ah yes those were good times. I'm glad to not be the champion. Gives more time to focus on my real passion which is finding the lore of Hoenn," Steven said.

"Well maybe we'll battle eventually?" Ryan asked.

"Eventually if you ever become champion. I have a good feeling about you for some reason," Steven said.

Ryan looked behind Steven as he walked up to the ruby and sapphire colored tablets. Ryan was amazed as it had ancient text.

"What is this?" Ryan asked.

May looked up at the tablets as she was interested in what they were. They had pictures of an ancient symbol as Steven was studying these symbols.

"These are ancient texts that archeologists recently discovered. They are related to the legendary pokémon," Steven explained.

"Maybe I'll come across these pokémon on my travels?" Ryan asked.

"Highly unlikely… but then who knows. Anyways you should get on to Slateport. I have a lot more to do here," Steven said.

"Thanks Steven," Ryan and May said.

Steven nodded as the two trainers walked out of the room. He was left by himself as he could feel a strong energy coming from both of them. He wondered if they were destined for greatness. He went back to his work as he was excited for his next encounter with them.

Nightfall fell on Dewford Town as Ryan and May went to the pokémon center for the night. They saw that the boat was gone and decided to wait until morning to get to Slateport. Ryan slept quietly in his bed as he dreamed about the future. He saw a symbol similar to the ones in the caves. He heard a loud roar coming from a big pillar in the skies. Ryan woke up after hearing the cry of a different pokémon. He looked over at the clock and saw ten hours had passed since he fell asleep. Ryan got up and went to the sink. He looked at himself as he splashed himself with cold water. The water dripped on his face as he looked in the mirror. He heard a knock at the door as he saw May in her sweat pants waiting in the doorway.

"I heard the water is everything okay?" May asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine... just had a weird dream," Ryan answered.

"Well, it's six in the morning. I'm sure Mr. Briney will be back soon, and we'll be off to Slateport to get ready for the contest," May said.

"Fine I'll get a shower then," Ryan said.

May nodded as she stepped out of the bathroom. She went to her bag and unpacked her clothes for the day as it was her usual outfit. A red shirt and black shorts. She had her traditional red head band she always wore as she heard the shower stop. A couple of minutes later Ryan walked out in his usual orange and green outfit with his usual white beanie. May went into the bathroom and showered as she eventually came out. The time was eight in the morning. As May had taken an hour and a half long shower.

"May you take a very long shower don't you?" Ryan asked laughing.

"Well, I hadn't really had a long one in a awhile," May said.

"Well, I'm sure Mr. Briney will be here by now," Ryan said.

May nodded as they both grabbed their bags and checked out of the of the pokémon center. Ryan went to the docks as he saw Mr. Briney waiting for them.

"Hello lads! Sorry I wasn't here yesterday. I have something else from Mr. Stone to deliver," Mr. Briney called out.

"What else does he want us to deliver?" May asked as she hopped onto the boat.

"Well, those parts those Aqua grunts stole are needed in Slateport. So, let's get going then!" Mr. Briney yelled.

Ryan hopped on and knelt down as he grabbed May's hand. They got on the boat as they sat down and buckled up. She looked over at him and kissed him on the lips lightly. Mr. Briney smiled as he started the boat and headed towards Slateport. He remembers falling in love many years ago. Unfortunately, his wife left the world years ago as the good memories floated in his mind. The boat sped through Route 107 and eventually reached Route 108 where they stopped at the abandoned Sea Mauville research facility.

"What happened here?" May asked as she pulled out her phone to take a picture.

"This was once a high tech facility... now it's nature preserve after they abandoned plans to dismantle it," Mr. Briney explained.

"Wow I can't wait to go there one day," Ryan said.

"Well let's get to Slateport while we still can," Mr. Briney said.

A storm was following them quickly as the boat sped away towards the beaches of Slateport City. Route 109 was the official name for the beaches of Slateport as they docked at the beach. Ryan hopped off the boat and smelled the fresh air.

"Thanks again Mr. Briney!" May said as she hopped on the dock.

"It was my pleasure. Peeko and I always enjoy boating with good company," Mr. Briney said.

They both nodded as they walked towards the main city. The beach was crowded this afternoon as they proceeded to Slateport.

Ryan walked down into the entrance of the Route 109. His pokemon grew stronger as he fought most of the trainers here. He decided to use the fishing rod he got back in Dewford to catch a water type pokemon for his team. He sat at the pier with May who was reading a book by Fantina a famous coordinator from Kalos who had recently became a gym leader in Sinnoh.

"Are you close to catching the one you want?" May asked.

"Yes, I'll get that Tentacool even if it takes all day," Ryan said.

"You've already caught one can't you just take that one on your team?" May asked annoyed.

"No, it's doesn't have the right ability I want it to have. It needs to have clear body," Ryan said calmly not noticing the hint of annoyance in May's voice.

May sighed as she went back to reading her book. Ryan felt a big tug at his rod as he began reeling in really fast. He could tell this had to be a Tentacool as it was a lot heavier than Magikarp.

"I got something big!" Ryan called out.

"I'm sure it's just another Magikarp..." May muttered.

Ryan reeled it onto the dock as he sent out his Lombre. Lombre prepared to fight the Tentacool as Ryan scanned the monster with Dexter to confirm its ability.

"Sweet we got it May!" Ryan said.

May watched as Ryan weakened the pokémon and threw a poke ball at it. The ball shook three times and dinged as Ryan held up the ball.

"Yes finally!" Ryan shouted.

"Finally, we can get to Slateport," May said.

"Let's get going so we can register you for the contest," Ryan said.

May nodded as they walked the beaches of Route 109. Ryan reached the entrance of Slateport as he ran to the pokémon center. May quickly followed him as she went over to the contest registration. She then heard a familiar cackle from her rival. She turned around as she saw Cyndi laughing at her.

"What are you even doing here tom boy?" Cyndi taunted.

"I could ask the same about you?" May asked back.

"Don't you know that all winners have to come to the events. Just cause I won doesn't mean you see less of me," Cyndi laughed.

Ryan saw May with her rival as he walked over and brought her in for a kiss. Cyndi was disgusted that such an attractive boy would like her.

"Wouldn't you like being with a real girl rather than some tom boy from a small town?" Cyndi asked.

"May is a beautiful and I happen to be from said small town as well. Just cause your insecure doesn't mean you need to be a bully," Ryan answered.

"Whatever I don't care what you two do. Just to let you know that I will win this whole thing," Cyndi said as she stormed off.

May was fuming as she noticed Lisia was coming towards her. May was nervous that Lisia heard the whole argument.

"Wow you two really hate each other's guts, don't you?" Lisia asked calmly.

"I don't know what her problem is, but she gets on my last nerve," Ryan said.

"Well don't worry I still think you have a chance at beating her. Also, I want to give this pokémon my uncle found," Lisia said.

She handed May a special poke ball. May released the poke ball as a cute yellow mouse pokémon came out. Ryan was impressed as he scanned it to his pokédex.

"It's a Pikachu my uncle Wallace found while traveling last year. He gave it to me, but I had no reason to use it," Lisia explained.

"Thank you it's adorable," May said.

Lisia nodded as she handed a bunch of outfits to her. They were outfits for Pikachu to wear in the contests.

"Oh, wow that's a lot of outfits," May said surprised.

"Yeah, you should be able to use them in contests," Lisia said.

May nodded as she stuffed the outfits in her bag. Lisia saw a blonde haired boy appear as he approached them. He had green eyes as he stopped in front of Lisia.

"Lisia! How are you darling?" the young man asked.

"Ah May this is my colleague and one of your fellow competitors Chaz," Lisia introduced.

"Hello Chaz... I didn't see you in the last contest?" May asked.

"Ah yes I couldn't make it, but I'll be in the rest of them," Chaz said.

"Why don't you join Chaz and I for dinner May?" Lisia said.

"Can I bring a date with me?" May asked.

"Sure, your dating Ryan, aren't you?" Lisia said.

"Yeah, I like him a lot," May asked.

Ryan was still checking them in as he had walked away when Chaz had entered the conversation. May nodded as she talked a bit with her rival competitor that she just met. Ryan walked back into the conversation as Chaz was going on about his history with Lisia.

"So Lisia beat me in the idol championship last year and automatically won the title of grand idol due to her uncle becoming champion of the Hoenn league," Chaz finally finished.

"Wow your uncle is Wallace, Lisia?" May asked.

"Yeah, but let's get ready for dinner we'll see you tonight?" Lisia asked trying to change the subject.

"Sure, let's go get ready Ryan," May said.

They ran off as Lisia shot Chaz a look. Chaz shrugged and chuckled nervously as he knew that Lisia didn't like the circumstances on how she became grand idol. She just hoped that May would be the victor of the idol championship and not Chaz or Cyndi.
