Hello nad welcome to the seventh chapter of Pokemon Delta Emerald. I hope everyone is staying safe from the various things going on in the world. I really have no updates to give so enjoy!

Ryan and May walked around the city of Slateport as they didn't have to go to dinner until nine o'clock. Ryan saw Scott in the distance in front of another tent in the city. Ryan ran up as May gave chase. Scott finished his conversation on the phone as he looked up and saw the familiar trainer.

"Ah... Ryan is it?" Scott asked.

"Yep, what's up Scott?" Ryan asked.

"I see you got to Slateport... does that mean you have two gym badges?" Scott asked.

"You betcha!" Ryan said proudly.

"Wow you are one tough trainer indeed. Anyways this is the battle tent. I've set quite a few of them up around the region to scout for the best trainers in the region," Scott explained.

"What exactly are you doing with these trainers? if you don't mind me asking?" May asked curiously.

"I have a something that I can't talk about yet... All in due time young ones," Scott chuckled.

May wasn't pleased with the answer but knew she wouldn't get more out of him as he was being extremely tight lip about the truth. May wondered if Scott had an ulterior motive but sensed nothing bad with the casual man.

"Sweet I'll guess we'll go in and check out the battle tent," Ryan said.

Scott nodded as he escorted them into the tent where there were many trainers. Ryan was amazed by the tent as it had a full arena and everything. He watched the battle go on as two trainers fought each other. Ryan and May walked up to the desk as he decided to sign up.

"Hello welcome to the Slateport Battle Tent how may we help you sir?" the female asked.

"I'd like to sign up," Ryan said.

"Sure, we'll let you pick three random pokemon and then you'll be matched up with a trainer."

Ryan nodded as he picked Pikachu, Sharpedo, and lastly a Swellow all at level thirty to even the playing field. Ryan stepped into the arena as he saw a familiar face. Wally nervously walked into the arena as May was sitting in the stands.

"Wally what are you doing here?" Ryan asked.

"I'm on my way to Mauville City to meet my uncle. I saw this tent and decided to give it a try," Wally said.

"Well let's get going then!" Ryan called out.

Wally nervously grabbed a poke ball as he sent out an Aron. Ryan decided to send out his Sharpedo as he still had to get used to having a different team. Sharpedo was a blue and white shark with piercing red eyes. Aron was a small silver plated pokémon. Ryan prepped for his first move as he knew Aron was weak to Sharpedo.

"Sharpedo use aqua jet!" Ryan ordered.

"Aron quick dodge and use iron head," Wally calmly ordered.

Aron tried to dodge the attack but was hit very hardly by the Sharpedo and sent flying across the arena with water dripping all over from it's wet silver body.

"Aron use iron head!" Wally yelled.

"Sharpedo dodge with aqua jet and finish it off," Ryan ordered knowing he had the advantage in speed.

Sharpedo had the speed advantage as he mopped the floor with Wally. Wally was called back the Aron as he sent out his next pokémon which was a Numel. Numel was tan rock camel pokémon as he was very weak against Sharpedo.

"Sharpedo use aqua jet!" Ryan ordered.

Sharpedo hit the target dead on as it was a one shot hit. Ryan was impressed as he wondered what Wally's last pokémon would be.

"Go Girafarig!" Wally sent out.

Ryan smiled as he knew he had the type advantage yet again. The giraffe pokémon was interesting as it had what it looked like were two parts of the body. One was yellow while the bottom half was black. It's tail had a creepy face on it as Ryan remembered seeing these while he was Johto.

"Sharpedo use night slash!" Ryan called out.

"Girafarig dodge and use stomp," Wally said knowing this wouldn't end in a win.

Sharpedo slashed at Girafarig as it tried to dodge and stomped on his fin. The pokémon cried as Sharpedo slashed at Girafarig. Girafarig fainted as the match was finally over. Wally was not angry instead learning a lot from his first battle with Ryan.

"Good match Wally," Ryan said as he walked into the center of the makeshift arena.

Wally grabbed his hand and nodded as he proceeded to walk out of the arena returning his pokémon. Ryan tried to follow him but was left in the dust by his friend. Ryan had wondered where he had gone but decided to let him be. May ran up to him and hugged him as she was impressed by Ryan's win.

"That was amazing!" May said.

"Thanks maybe we should check the museum next and then go to dinner?" Ryan said.

"Yes lead the way," May laughed.

They walked out into the busy streets of Slateport as they were going to be busy until the dinner.

#

The sunset was coming as Ryan dressed in his nice clothes for the dinner. The museum was a disaster as the whole entrance was blocked by a bunch of Team Aqua grunts. Ryan wondered what they could be up to as they decided to wait until tomorrow to visit the museum and shipyards. Ryan had on a snazzy red jacket and black khakis as the dress code was casual dress up. May had on a beautiful blue dress and flats.

"You ready to go darling?" Ryan asked.

"Yeah, I'm just nervous about eating dinner with the two strongest coordinators in the Hoenn region," May admitted.

"Don't sweat it. She obviously sees that you are worthy to be in this competition if she's invited you to dinner," Ryan quelled.

May sighed as she walked out of the room as Ryan followed her. She was nervous as she felt like she was in the wrong place. She shouldn't be having dinner with these people. She stopped and turned back as she had tears in her eyes. Ryan hugged her as he realized how stressful it was for her.

"May don't worry we don't have to go if you don't want to," Ryan said.

She kissed and looked him in the eyes. She knew that she had to face her fears, but she would have her lover at her side.

"No, I must confront my fears," May said as she wiped away the tears.

"That's the spirit May! Don't listen to what Cyndi or anyone else has to say," Ryan said passionately.

Ryan and May kissed passionately as they eventually separated for air. They held hands as they walked out to the pokémon center and into the streets of Slateport. Ryan saw the fancy restaurant and sat down with Lisia and Chaz. Chaz was in blue suit with a black undershirt. Lisia was in her usual garb of white shorts with a blue tutu and small blue and white crop top.

"Ah May so glad to have you here," Lisia said calmly.

"Yes, and I brought Ryan as my date," May said.

"Nice to meet you Ryan," Chaz said.

"Yes, so nice to meet you again," Lisia said.

Ryan pulled out May's chair and pushed her in as she felt happy of his chivalrous act. Ryan sat across from Chaz as the waiter came and took their order.

"So, you must be trainer then Ryan?" Chaz asked.

"You right on the money about that one Chaz... I'm going to beat Wallace when I beat the gym challenge and win the Hoenn cup," Ryan said passionately.

"My uncle is pretty tough... but I have a good feeling about you though. Something just radiates from you," Lisia said.

Ryan nodded as he wondered what Lisia was on about. Lisia looked at May as she drank her water. May felt her gaze from afar as she wondered why the grand idol was even being nice to a small town girl.

"You're deep in thought May... is something wrong?" Lisia asked.

"I just wonder why you've been so friendly with me?" May asked honestly.

"Ah I can answer that one. You see I see something in you that most of the coordinators don't have. You have a fighting spirit. I have a good feeling about you," Lisia said.

"Not if I beat you first," Chaz quipped.

"In your dreams Chaz... I have feeling May will cause a scene in this rather stale lineup of people vying for the crown of grand idol," Lisia said.

"Who do you think will make the finals?" May asked.

"Well, I know that Chaz, Cyndi, you are fierce competition. It should be interesting whoever lands on my doorstep to challenge me," Lisia said.

'I just hope it's May and not Chaz or Cyndi,' Lisia added in her mind.

"I hate Cyndi with a passion to be honest," May said.

"Don't let her get to you. She's just cocky cause she was the first to punch her ticket in," Ryan said.

The food arrived as they chatted and eat for a good couple of hours until the restaurant closed. Ryan and May went back to the pokémon center and went to rest as they were tired from the day.

"Night Ryan," May said.

"Night May," Ryan said.

They fell asleep as Ryan and May were ready to take on tomorrow. Ryan had a break from gym battles finally as he could focus on his new girl.

#

May focused on training her pokémon on route 109 at the beach as she knew Mawile would be her go to monster. The theme of the contest was toughness as she knew she had her work cut out for her as Chaz supposedly had a Machoke who could easily win if she wasn't careful.

"May I got some ice cream sandwiches from the small tiki bar over there. You want some?" Ryan asked.

"Sure. All right guys take a ten minute break and we'll be back to training," May told her pokémon.

They all nodded as they went to play with each other. May had one more day until the contest and she felt prepared for the whole thing. She decided they should deliver the Devon goods to the recipient. It was addressed to a Captain Stern. They decided to try the shipyards and see if Stern happened to be there. They began to walk back to town as May and recalled all her pokémon and followed Ryan. They eventually reached the shipyards as they saw a big sign that read Stern's Shipyards. Ryan knew his recipient had to be there.

"Well, if he isn't here then I'm truly lost," Ryan said sarcastically.

"He'll be here... I mean I hope he is cause he has his name plastered all over the building," May said laughing.

They walked and saw a scientist with a mustache and black hair. He had a on lab coat as he looked over the shipyards latest project. Ryan approached him and tapped him on the shoulder.

"Ah yes here on the tour of this magnificent facility? The name is Dock and if you need some help with anything then I'll be glad to assist," Dock introduced.

"Actually, we're looking for Captain Stern. We have an important package for him from Mr. Stone," Ryan said.

"Ah yes the Devon goods. I do believe the captain is at the museum right now so you'll have to pop over there for the delivery," Dock said.

"Well let's hope those dumb Aqua nuts cleared the entrance so we can get in," May quipped.

Ryan nodded as they head back to the streets of Slateport. Ryan walked out towards the museum as they saw the entrance was finally cleared.

"Guess they just disappeared?" Ryan asked confused.

"Whatever let's get these parts to the captain so we can enjoy our time in the city," May said.

Ryan nodded as they went into the museum and bought a ticket in. The place was littered with Aqua grunts as Ryan saw a familiar face.

"Hey, you're the crook from the Rusturf Tunnel?" Ryan asked angrily.

"Oh, crud here take this for forgiveness!" the grunt yelled as he dropped a disc.

Ryan picked up the disc and put it in his bag full of these TM's he had acquired from various situations such as finding them or winning them.

"Let's go upstairs," May said.

Ryan nodded as they walked up the stairs to the second floor. He saw a brown haired man with a white lab coat and trousers on as he looked important. Ryan walked up to him as he tapped him on the shoulder.

"I'm little busy kid," the man said.

"Are you Captain Stern?" Ryan asked.

"I am who are you?" Stern asked.

"I'm Ryan and this is my partner May. We have the Devon Goods for you," Ryan said.

"My apologies... you don't know how many kids approach me asking for autographs," Stern chuckled.

"Hold it right there!" a random Aqua grunt yelled.

Ryan and May turned around as two aqua grunts stared them down. Ryan was beginning to grow tired of these minions as he wanted to see who called the shots. Ryan prepped for the battle ahead as he grabbed his two pokemon. He hoped he could thwart their plans.

#

The first grunt sent out his Carvanah as Ryan sent out his Lombre. Ryan knew that he had the type advantage as he was ready for anything. He remembered Carvanah's evolved was one speedy pokémon.

"Lombre use Mega Drain," Ryan ordered calmly.

"Oh crud! Carvanah dodge and use bite!" the Aqua grunt yelled.

Carvanah couldn't dodge as it fell to the ground. It got back up weakly as Ryan's pokémon were way stronger then the Aqua grunt.

"Carvanah get back up you weak fool!" the first Aqua grunt yelled.

"Tsk tsk... maybe you would be a better trainer if you treated you're pokemon properly," Ryan said.

"Shut up you twerp," the first grunt yelled angered by the snide comment.

"Lombre finish with another mega drain," Ryan calmly commanded.

Lombre sucked the remaining life out of the pokémon as Carvanah fainted. The grunt recalled his pokémon as the next grunt took his place.

"I'll beat you real good kid!" the second Aqua grunt howled.

"Unlikely... In fact I suggest you leave while you still can't," Ryan said mocking the second grunt.

"Stop mocking me kid and show me what you got!"

Ryan nodded as May and Captain Stern watched as Ryan fell into some sort of rhythm. May had never seen such a calm attitude towards battling but was impressed.

"Carvanah use poison fang!" the second grunt yelled.

"Lombre dodge and use mega drain," Ryan ordered in his trance like state.

Lombre listened well as his energy was synchronized with his trainer as he expertly dodge the attack and countered. The attack was a critical hit as the Carvanah fell to the ground fainting in one shot.

"No why won't you take the loss kid!" the second grunt yelled in frustration.

Ryan didn't respond as he was in sync with the battle as his trance. The second grunt didn't wait for a response as he sent out a weak Zubat. Ryan wisely returned his weakened Lombre and sent out Tentacool.

"Tentacool use water pulse," Ryan said as his eyes glowed green.

May was shocked by the glowing eyes as she never seen anything like it. It was like he was in sync with his pokémon. Ryan's Tentacool sent a pulse of water flying as it hit the Zubat. Zubat cried and got back up as the second Aqua grunt wondered what to do next.

"Uh... Zubat use swift quickly!" the second grunt yelled.

"Tentacool charge and finish it off with wrap and slam it to the ground," Ryan said in his trance.

Tentacool fully understood its master as it charged at the Zubat. Zubat was confused as it was wrapped by Tentacool's tentacles. He repeatedly slammed his foe into the ground until fainted.

"Crap we better leave and regroup," the second grunt said.

"I'm with you on that. We don't want the boss knowing we messed up.

A man dressed as a pirate captain with a blue bandana and a dark blue coat stepped up the stairs as their faces turned pale white.

"Uh Archie you're here?" the first grunt said.

"Yeah, we were retreating... this kid is way too strong for us!" the first grunt said.

"Who are you boy and why do you keep interrupting my plans," Archie asked intrigued by the green glow the boy emanated.

"What are your intentions is the better question we should ask you?" May asked.

Archie laughed as he was seriously going to tell his life story to a group of kids. He decided that they deserved to know.

"Well I intend to wake up a legendary pokémon to start a brand new world girlie and that's all I'll say. You simple minded people have cause a blight on the world and it needs to be cleaned from people like you. You may have won this time, but I'll be back," Archie ranted.

They ran off as the glow from Ryan disappeared and fell backwards on the ground out cold. Tentacool went over to its trainer as May ran over to him as well.

"Ryan are you okay?" May asked in a panic.

He began to come too as he remembered nothing from the battle. He looked around for the grunts as he wondered where they were. He fell back to sleep as his energy was drained. May picked him up as Captain Stern helped out.

"I'll help you get him to a pokémon center," Stern said.

May nodded as she grabbed Tentacool's poke ball from Ryan's belt and called it back as they dragged him to the pokémon center.

#

Ryan finally woke up from being knocked out as May held his hand. Ryan looked around as he realized he was in his room. He got up fast as he held his head.

"Slowly Ryan," May said.

"What happened?" Ryan asked softly.

"I honestly don't know... You had this aura about you," May said.

"Did I beat those Aqua idiots?" Ryan asked.

"You did... it was scary though. You glowed a green color and expertly defeated those Aqua grunts," May said.

"Wow I don't even remember much barring the beginning of the battle," Ryan said.

May looked at the sacred Ryan as he wondered what he had done. He didn't remember much of the battle as he was under some kind of trance supposedly from what May was telling him.

"Ryan it's going to be fine," May said.

"I'm sorry I scared you... you should be focusing on your contest not on me," Ryan apologized.

"Don't worry we have a couple of days to prepare. I just hope that I can win. I'm worried about Chaz as this tough theme is his specialty," May said.

"May you have nothing to worry about," Ryan said.

May nodded as she went in for a kiss. Ryan kissed her back as they finally separated for air.

"I think I'm okay let's get back to training," Ryan said.

May nodded as he helped him up. Ryan stood up as he wobbled a little. It was night as they decided to go get some food from the pokémon center. They ordered some sandwiches and sat at the table nearby. May silently eat her sandwich as Cyndi came up to her.

"I heard you had dinner with Chaz and Lisia?" Cyndi asked.

"I did... what do you want?" May asked angry at the girl.

"Well, I want to tell you not to think you're good cause you're friends with the grand idol! You're still a tom boy who has no skill," Cyndi taunted.

"Get out of here Cyndi!" Ryan yelled.

Everyone looked at them as Cyndi laughed and walked away. Ryan sat back down as he was angry that someone would make fun of his best friend and girlfriend.

"Ryan you didn't have to get mad," May said.

"I just hate her... she rubs me the wrong way is all," Ryan said.

"Yeah, but remember to control your anger," May warned.

Ryan nodded in agreement as he knew that May was right. They stayed up a little longer having some small talk as they chatted until about midnight. They eventually went to bed as May had a busy day of training tomorrow.

"Night May... I appreciate everything you did for me," Ryan said.

"No problem Ryan..." May said as she fell asleep.

Ryan noticed she fell asleep as he rolled over in his bed. He tossed and turned for a couple of hours as he tried to piece together the events at the museum. Ryan wondered what kind of powers he used as he couldn't even remember what he did. He decided to go to sleep as he was tired from the events of today.
