Hello and welcome to chapter ten of Pokemon Delta Emerald. I hope to start posting a lot more now that the holidays and everything is over. Anyways one note I'm going to make is to check my Tumblr dedicated to behind the scenes and other stuff on all my fanfics. I'll post a link in my bio so check it out. Anyways let's get on with the story.

May woke up to the shower running as she wondered where Ryan was. She slept in some more as the door flung open. Pikachu perked up as she ran over to the freshly dressed Ryan.

"May time to wake up," Ryan whispered in her ear.

"It's eight o'clock already?" May asked yawning.

"Yeah, time flies when you're asleep," Ryan said.

She got up as Pikachu jumped around. She grabbed Pikachu and petted its soft yellow fur. She eventually got up and took a shower as she looked around for her bag. She grabbed her clothes and got dressed in her orange and green athletic wear. She came out of the bathroom as she saw Pikachu playing with Ryan. She smiled as she enjoyed the fact that her pokémon trusted Ryan just as much as she did.

"Well, we have to meet Wally and his uncle," May said.

"Yes, as soon as we eat something," Ryan said.

May nodded as she followed them out of their room and into the lobby of the pokémon center. They both grabbed a bagel as they ran out of the pokémon center to meet with Wally and his uncle. They approached the gym as they saw the Tea Green haired boy argue with his bald headed uncle.

"Uncle I want to fight the gym leaders of the region!" Wally argued.

"For the last time I can't let you get hurt. What if you lose to one of them? Your asthma can only take so much if you go to smoggy area," his uncle retorted.

"Hey Wally. Need some help?" Ryan said as he approached them.

"Who are you?" Wally's uncle asked.

"I'm Ryan... I helped Wally catch his Ralts," Ryan introduced.

Wally's uncle sighed as he was now faced with the boy responsible for his son's persistence on taking on the pokémon league.

"So, you are the reason why Wally is so insistent on taking on the pokémon league," Wally's uncle said.

"I think you should let him. In fact, let me show you how safe pokémon battles are," Ryan suggested.

Wally's uncle thought about it as he wondered if the battling would be bad for his nephew. He decided to let them battle as he would be close by if anything happened.

"All right I trust you... but if anything happens to my nephew, I stop the fight. He doesn't need a flare up to happen," Wally's uncle said.

"Don't worry sir I'll make sure he's okay. I assume you haven't caught any pokémon since we last spoke Wally?" Ryan asked.

"Yes, is that bad?" Wally asked.

"No but if you get permission to take on the league then you'll need more then Ralts," Ryan said.

Wally nodded as he hoped that this would convince his uncle to let him take on the gym challenge. They lined up against each other as they prepared for the one on one match. Ryan sent out his Tentacool and Wally sent out his only pokémon which was a Ralts. Whoever's pokémon went down first would be the winner as Ryan wanted to make it fair for Wally.

"I'm gonna to make it fair and use one pokémon," Ryan said.

Wally nodded as he was glad that his friend was going to be fair and give him a fighting chance. May got in between the two as she decided to be the referee.

"All right and begin!" May shouted as a crowd gathered to watch the two.

Ryan and Wally stared each other down as they started the battle that would decide if Wally is fit to challenge the pokémon league. Wally hoped he could beat Ryan as it would be a great way to prove to his uncle that he had what it takes to take on the pokémon league.

#

Ryan and Wally stared each other down in the eyes as they attracted quite a crowd to the pokémon battle. Ryan decided to go first as he knew that Tentacool had no type disadvantage that he knew of.

"Tentacool use water pulse!" Ryan called out.

"Ralts dodge and use lucky chant!" Wally said.

Tentacool sent a pulse of water as Ralts dodged it and used its lucky chant. The Tentacool couldn't land any critical hits as Wally knew that Ryan's pokémon was known for its critical hits.

"Ralts use Magical Leaf!" Wally ordered.

"Oh crud... Tentacool use Acid to melt the leaves," Ryan countered.

Ralts sent out it's magical leaf as it was too fast for Tentacool to counter. It hit Tentacool straight on as it tried to get up. It fell to the ground as it was weak. It got up weakly as Wally knew that his grass attack was effective.

"Ralts one more magical leaf!" Wally called out confidently.

Ryan knew that this was going to be the killing blow as he was glad Wally had won. The magical grass attack hit the Tentacool as Wally had won the fight fair and square. His uncle was impressed at the win as he knew his nephew had grown.

"Congrats Wally," Ryan said as he recalled Tentacool.

Ryan shook hands with the younger teen as Wally ran up to his uncle who was stunned by his victory. Ryan approached the uncle as he decided to try to convince him to let Wally follow his dreams.

"So, what do you think Mr. Howells?" Ryan said.

Mr. Howells nodded as he knew his nephew had grown since getting that pokémon. He had to learn to let his boy try new things instead of living in fear.

"As soon as we take care of business in Verdanturf Wally... I'll let you go and adventure the Hoenn region," his uncle said.

"Really Uncle!" Wally said shocked.

"You've proven you can handle yourself, so I'll allow you to go. Just make me proud Wally," his uncle said.

"Don't Worry Uncle I'll make our whole family proud!" Wally shouted in excitement.

Wally's Uncle grabbed a disc as he handed it to Ryan. Ryan grabbed the disc as he put it in his back bag.

"That's the HM for Rock Smash. You'll find it to be very useful in your travels," Wally's uncle said.

"Thank you sir," Ryan said.

Ryan shook hands with Wally's uncle and Wally as Wally went for the hug. Ryan thought they had grown close since their last visit. Ryan saw him as a little brother and was glad he would be his fellow competitor.

"Good luck out there Wally," Ryan said.

"Don't worry we'll be seeing each other in Verdanturf," Wally said.

"Great can't wait to see you out there," Ryan said.

Wally nodded as his uncle and him walked away to go to Verdanturf. Ryan and May went to the pokémon center to get some lunch and heal his pokémon before the big fight with Wattson.

"That's awesome that Wally won," May said.

"Yeah, I'm glad his uncle saw reason," Ryan said.

They heard their name called out as they grabbed their food and sat down. Pikachu sat by May's foot as it eat some berries. May was happy that Wally would begin his pokémon journey. She just hoped that Ryan's gym battle would go smooth as it was going to be a tough battle. Ryan knew that he had no type advantage as his strongest pokémon would probably be Vigoroth or Combusken. He had his strategy planned out that his pokémon would strike quick and hard as he knew that he needed a bit more training on the cycling road.

"Hey May want to ride our bikes on the cycling road to train?" Ryan asked.

"Sure, I can do that," May said.

They finished their food and unfolded the bikes from their bag and cycled away. May had Pikachu on her shoulder as they cycled to the cycling road.

#

Ryan and May got back from the cycling road as they decided to heal their pokémon before Ryan's gym battle. They waited thirty minutes as the nurse brought back their pokémon. Ryan grabbed his pokémon as he ran out of the pokémon center with May in tow. He reached the gym as the afternoon sky changed into dusk. The bright moon was shining bright through the glass dome. May thought it was beautiful as she looked up at the moon. Ryan was excited to face Wattson as he knew the battle would be very good. Ryan walked through the gym doors as he walked into Watson's gym. Wattson was waiting for him as he laughed.

"So, you finally decided to come face me?" Wattson asked.

"Be prepared to lose Wattson!" Ryan said.

"I can tell I'm going to love this!" Wattson said.

May walked up into the small bleachers as the Ryan took his spot on the arena ready to face Wattson. Wattson faced Ryan as grabbed a poke ball from his belt. Ryan grabbed Vigoroth's poke ball as he was ready to go.

"Go Magnemite!" Wattson summoned.

"I choose you Vigoroth!" Ryan called out.

A silver magnet Pokémon with magnets for arms popped out onto Watson's side of the battlefield. Vigoroth was a bipedal sloth with a red teardrop shaped fur on his red. Vigoroth jumped around the field full of spunk as Ryan found it weird that it was so energetic.

"Vigoroth use slash!" Ryan called out.

"Magnemite use volt switch!" Wattson called out.

Magnemite struck Vigoroth with a bolt of electricity. He instantly returned to Watson's poke ball as Voltorb came out. Voltorb was a shaped like a big poke ball with the center part missing. Ryan wondered why Wattson would switch like that as he knew he had something up his sleeve.

"Voltorb use rollout," Wattson said.

Ryan realized his strategy as he knew rollout would be effective against his two main pokémon to take on the gym. He knew he had to take some counter maneuvers if he wanted to win.

"Vigoroth dodge and use slash!" Ryan called out.

Vigoroth dodged the small rock as it missed him barely. He struck the Voltorb as it went flying back towards the spire. Voltorb shot back up ready to continue as he was a little bit hurt. Ryan knew that if he continued dodging the rollouts he would have a chance.

"Voltorb use rollout again!" Wattson commanded.

"Vigoroth counter him with another slash!" Ryan said.

Vigoroth dodged the attack again and slashed at the ball pokémon. It went flying back as Voltorb was almost finished.

"One last time Vigoroth! Finish him off!" Ryan called out.

Vigoroth went for the killing blow as it struck at Voltorb with its long claws. Voltorb went flying back as it fell to the ground knocked out.

"Dang kid you're one tough one to beat!" Wattson laughed.

"You underestimated me, didn't you?" Ryan quipped.

"I did but I still think you can't beat me and the rest of my team," Wattson said.

Wattson grabbed his next ball as he sent out the previous pokémon that he had out before Voltorb. Ryan decided to switch to Combusken as he had the type advantage.

"Go Combusken!" Ryan called out.

A yellow and red chicken pokémon came out as it got ready to fight the Magnemite. It had the type advantage as Magnemite was part steel type which was weak to fire. Ryan knew he had this in the bag as he was ready to win the Dynamo badge.

#

Wattson knew his strength would have to prevail if he was going to beat Ryan. He knew that Combusken was super effective against his last two pokémon. Ryan knew his strategy was playing out well as he needed Combusken to last for these last couple of pokémon.

"Combusken use flame charge!" Ryan ordered.

"Magnemite dodge and use thunder wave!" Wattson countered.

"Combusken avoid the thunder wave!" Ryan yelled in a frenzy.

Combusken barely avoided the thunder wave as he hit the Magnemite head with his flame charge. Combusken's speed went up as it was fast as lightning. Magnemite was weak from the previous fight and the current attack. Ryan saw this as an opportunity to strike quick.

"Combusken use flame charge once more!" Ryan said.

May watched in the stands as Combusken went for the critical blow. Combusken was engulfed in flames as it slammed into Magnemite. It went flying back into the wall as it was knocked out.

"Dang you're good kid! I guess I'm down to my last pokémon," Wattson said.

Ryan nodded as he felt in tune with his starter pokémon. Ryan was feeling that feeling he felt back in Slateport. This time however he felt complete control of everything.

"Magneton I choose you!" Wattson summoned.

An evolved form of Magnemite came out as it had three Magnemite's combined to form a new evolution.

"Magneton use magnet bomb!" Wattson commanded.

"Combusken charge with flame charge," Ryan ordered swiftly.

Combusken listened to his trainer as the bond between them strengthen. Combusken braced for the magnet bomb and charged through it flaming at Magneton. Magneton cried out in pain as it was weak. Ryan calculated that two more good hits would hit it. He knew however Combusken couldn't take a couple more of those attacks.

"Combusken flame charge again!" Ryan yelled.

"Magneton use supersonic!" Wattson countered.

Combusken was already charging at Magneton when it was hit with a wave of supersonic vibrations. Combusken hit its target and went limp as it wobbled around. Magneton flew back as it was almost ready to faint.

"Magneton use Magnet Bomb!" Wattson commanded before Combusken could gain traction.

"Combusken use flame charge one more time!" Ryan said.

Combusken attacked itself instead. He knocked out after Magneton launched its attack at him. Ryan still had Vigoroth to finish this as he was calm. May noticed the green markings on his hands as he grabbed Vigoroth's poke ball. He threw the ball as the sloth pokémon came out and began to pound his chest.

"Vigoroth use slash," Ryan said calmly.

Vigoroth charged and hit its target. Magneton went flying back as it was knocked out. The green markings faded on Ryan's hands as he went back to being normal. He was drained however as he went up to get his badge from Wattson.

"Congrats kid you proved yourself with your pokémon," Wattson said.

"Thanks, Wattson," Ryan said.

May ran down the steps as she tackled hugged Ryan. Ryan could barely get up as she helped him up. He looked into her blue eyes and kissed her.

"I hope you have safe travels friend!" Wattson said.

"Thank you Wattson and goodbye for now," Ryan said.

Wattson waved at the two as they walked out into the streets of the Mauville. He took a seat at the bench as he decided to catch his energy.

"I saw the green markings again. Are you okay?" May asked.

"Yeah, I remember everything thankfully... still I feel like this aura benefits me for some reason," Ryan said.

"Maybe it does... but you shouldn't rely on it cause it drains you," May said.

"I know... it scares me whatever it is. I keep having these weird dreams and seeing the symbol. What if something bigger than us is calling to me," Ryan explained.

May thought about it as she needed more time to think about it. She thought it had something to do with Team Aqua and those red hooded people.

"Maybe it has something to do with those Team Aqua freaks and the red hooded people," May suggested.

"Maybe but I need to be careful... I can't risk my own life," Ryan said.

May nodded as she grabbed a renewed Ryan and ran to the pokémon center as it was late at night. They got some take out and went back to their rooms and relaxed for the rest of the night. Ryan just hoped he wouldn't have the dream again.

#

Ryan couldn't sleep as Pikachu jumped out of bed waking May up. She looked over and saw Ryan awake. She got out of bed and jumped in as she startled him.

"Ah!" Ryan yelled out.

"Oh, crud sorry... Pikachu noticed you were awake," May said.

Ryan nodded as he went in for a kiss. May kissed him back as they were holding each other. May laid down next to him as she wondered what was wrong.

"Why are you up so late?" May asked.

"I just can't sleep... I know that I should be excited that I won the gym battle, but I can't get over the fact about Team Aqua," Ryan answered.

"Don't worry about that we have to get going and we'll face them eventually," May said.

Ryan nodded as he laid back down on the bed. He looked at his phone as he decided to call his dad at four in the morning. He hoped his dad was awake as he usually was to prepare for the day. His dad, Norman, popped up on his screen as he had a look of confusion on his face.

"Hey Ryan, what's wrong? You're calling awfully early," Norman said.

"Well, I couldn't sleep at all... I finally got the third gym badge last night," Ryan said.

"Well, congrats Ryan... I'm so proud of you," Norman said.

"Thanks dad... I should be grateful, but I'm worried about something happening to me," Ryan said.

Norman grew concerned as he wondered what could be bothering his son. Ryan looked over at a sleeping May who held Pikachu in her arms. Ryan smiled as he wanted to protect her from his problems.

"What's happening Ryan?" Norman asked.

"I keep glowing green and markings keep appearing on my hands. I sometimes black out too and forget everything," Ryan answered.

"Huh interesting... I need to contact someone about this. You keep it up in your gym battles though," Norman said as he tried to shift the subject.

"Okay I'll be fine... I'm sure it's nothing," Ryan said.

"Yeah... say hello to your girlfriend for me," Norman said.

"All right bye dad love you," Ryan said.

"Love you too son," Norman said as he waved goodbye.

Ryan hung up as he saw it was six in the morning as he got up and took a shower. They had to get ready for their long travel to Verdanturf Town as it was the next sight of the contest. He wondered if May could even win this won as she didn't have many chances left to win the contest. He felt the warm water of his aching muscles as he relaxed. He eventually finished showering and finished in the bathroom as he heard May's alarm going off. Pikachu was trying her best to wake up her trainer. Ryan looked at Pikachu as it looked at him.

"Don't worry Pikachu I'll get her up," Ryan whispered.

Ryan went up to her ear and whispered something funny into her ear. She jumped up as she was scared. She heard her snooze alarm going off as she wondered who whispered something in her ear. She saw a bright Ryan looking at her as she moaned in frustration.

"Not a morning person, are we?" Ryan asked sarcastically.

"No, I'm not... Now I'm going to take my shower," May said.

Pikachu and Ryan sat watching the tv as they saw the news about the red hooded people, they encountered on route 110. They were seen near Mount Chimney like they said. Unfortunately, the news didn't know their names as Ryan was mad that no one knew who they were. May scrubbed off in the shower as she decided to keep her hair down for the day. She finished applying her make up and dressed in her sporty outfit as she came out into the room.

"How do I look?" May asked.

"You look great May! I love when you let your hair down," Ryan complimented.

"Thank you so much love," May said.

They grabbed their bags as Pikachu jumped on May's shoulder. They checked out of the pokémon center and headed towards Route 117 while eating an energy bar. Ryan was secretly hoping he would run into the red hooded figures and figure out who they were. May and him were really curious who these hooligans were. They continued towards Route 117 ready for anything.
