Hello everyone and welcome to the chapter twelve of Pokemon Delta Emerald. I'm onto chapter three on the sequel to this story which is pretty exciting. My upload schedule might hectic this weekend as I'm going to be out of town visiting family. Another quick update is that I can't post my tumblr on the bio for some reason so If you want the link I guess just message for the time being until I figure out what to do about that. Anyways let's get to the story!
Ryan and May were eating dinner as Ryan had won all of his battles at the tent today. They eat their steaks as they were impressed by the fancy restaurant. Ryan was able to pay for dinner tonight with his earnings from the battle tent. Ryan was still deep in thought about his next gym battle which would rely heavy on his Tentacool. Ryan was excited for tomorrow as May was going to rock the cool contest.
"You okay?" May asked.
"Oh yeah sorry just deep in thought," Ryan admitted.
"About what?"
"Well just a lot of things. I'm hoping you do well in the contest tomorrow. I want you to win."
May nodded as she agreed with her boyfriend. She was tired of finishing second. She needed a win in order to focus on training for the contest spectacular.
"Yeah, I don't want to finish second again," May said.
"Who is your biggest threat to losing?" Ryan asked.
"His name is Ralph. A seasoned veteran in the cool contest," May said.
Ryan nodded as he had wondered if May even had a chance. He had to believe that she would win as he knew she was destined for great things.
"Are you worried you won't win?" Ryan asked honestly.
"Well, I'll still have two more chances to win if I lose but it would be nice to win," May said.
Ryan eat his food as he was getting tired from the day. May was too as she grabbed his hand.
"I don't care if I win as long as I have you," May said.
Ryan felt the time was right to admit his love for her as he knew this was the perfect setting. He kissed her on the lips as they were lost in the passion. They separated as they looked into each other's eyes.
"I love you," Ryan blurted out.
May looked at him with shock as she wasn't expecting him to say that. She was glad that he said it as she felt the same way.
"You love me, too don't you?" Ryan asked hoping he wasn't rushing her.
"What does this mean to you," May said.
May leaned in for a passionate kiss as she was very happy with lover. She separated and looked into his orange eyes.
"I love you too," May said.
Ryan nodded as he decided to pay the tab and go back to their room after a walk. They held hands as a news crew came up to both of them.
"Hello, my name is Gabby and this is my cameraman Ty. We're with the Hoenn News Network. We were wondering if you would do a prematch interview with us May?" Gabby asked.
"Sure, what do you need to know?" May asked.
"How do you feel about your chances tomorrow? You've been on a hot streak finishing second in the last two contests," Gabby asked.
"Well, I feel pretty confident going in as I feel my routine for the theme is pretty good. I just have to make sure to win this time," May said.
"Great that's all I need thank you," Gabby said.
They both ran off as May and Ryan arrived at the pokémon center and got changed in their room and fell asleep. Tomorrow would be a busy day for May as she knew that she had to win.

May woke up to her alarm going off as the sun rose over the mountains. May and Ryan got up as Pikachu jumped up and down. May giggled as she enjoyed Pikachu's enthusiasm. May got in the bathroom and showered as Ryan waited patiently for her to finish. He turned on the television as he saw them on the news. May came out as she was dressed in an outfit that matched the theme. It was a white shirt and black leather jacket with jeans.
"You look pretty cool," Ryan said.
"I see I made it on the news," May said.
"Pika Pika!" Pikachu said as she darted around on the bed in excitement.
May laughed as she knew that Pikachu was really pumped. Ryan hopped into the shower quickly and got done so they could head out. They walked into the crowded as they saw Gabby and Ty interviewing Ralph and his famous Loudred.
"So, Ralph what do you think about the rookie May? People are saying she will be your biggest competitor. Do you have any thoughts on that?" Gabby asked.
"Well, I applaud her for trying but I'm the reigning cool contest champion," Ralph laughed.
May heard the comment as it took her everything to not interrupt the news broadcast. Ryan pulled her out before she heard more as she looked at Ryan with a nervous look. Pikachu was mad as she jumped on May's shoulder.
"Pika Pika!" Pikachu said with anger.
"Don't worry Pikachu we'll show this guy whose boss," May said calmly.
They arrived at the backstage as Ryan kissed her goodbye. May went inside the tent as Ryan sat in the stands in front of the outdoor area. Ryan was hopeful that May would win. She had earned a bye into the semis as she ranked the highest out of anyone competing in the contest. He just hoped that things would go well. They were beginning the first rounds as Ryan wasn't concerned at all about them. He was more concerned about Ralph and his Loudred as he was fierce competitor. He knew that May had no experience versus Ralph's seasoned career which included four trips to the finale and one trip to face the grand idol where he lost to Wallace. May was backstage as she decided to introduce herself to Ralph and his Loudred.
"Hello are you Ralph?" May asked.
"I am and you must be the rookie May. I have a lot of respect for you and how you've performed," Ralph said.
"Well, I humbly thank you for the compliment," May said.
"No problem but I'm still gonna win this contest. I've won it four times to punch my ticket in," Ralph said.
"I think differently... I guess we'll see in the finals," May said as she walked off.
Ralph was left to wonder if his tactic of scaring her had worked as she wasn't fazed one minute by his intimidating demeanor. May sat down and finished dressing Pikachu in her rock star outfit. Pikachu had on a matching red leather jacket with gray fuzz on the neck and black jeans to go with it.
"You're looking good Pikachu," May said.
"Pika!" Pikachu exclaimed.
May giggled as she saw the semifinals were about to begin. She checked her glam rock make up as she was to do something with Pikachu on stage for the first round. She grabbed her mic as she prepared to do something great in front of everyone. She just hoped it would nab her the win to the finals of the cool contest.

May looked on the stage as the judges were being introduced by the announcer of the contests. He introduced the usual judges Mr. Contesta and Lisia but the guest judge was weird as it was Sinnoh's Grand Idol Johanna Benton. She must have been visiting Verdanturf as she had retired not too long ago. Ryan knew he had seen the guest judge before as she had been in Johto before. Ryan hoped that May wasn't freaking out as the crowd cheered for Johanna.
"Johanna is from Sinnoh visiting Hoenn after retiring from competing in contests!" the announcer roared.
The crowd clapped as they were shocked that the queen of Sinnoh would grace them with her presence. Johanna waved to the crowd as she was excited to be in Verdanturf judging her first contest.
"And here is the first semifinal contestant. Give it up to May and her Pikachu," the announcer called out to the stage.
May and Pikachu ran out to the outdoor stage as Ryan watched as May and Pikachu grabbed a mic. The backing track began to play as May and Pikachu made a little concert for the appealing act. The judges were impressed by her creativity and gave her a perfect score. Ryan was impressed as she ran off the stage. The three other acts performed as May would stomp the field in the second stage of her semifinal match. She would move onto the finals with three. She saw that Ralph had gotten in as well. She decided to prepare Swellow for the finals as it was a pretty cool pokémon. Swellow cooed at her as it nuzzled his beak on her leg. May was confident that she could win this.
"Well, if it isn't the tomboy," Cyndi cackled.
"Cyndi what are you doing back here?" May asked.
"Just making sure you and that disgusting bird doesn't win," Cyndi spat.
"Well get out of here... you're wasting your time," May said.
"You can't tell me what to do!" Cyndi shouted.
"Cyndi can it and leave," Ralph said calmly.
Cyndi got mad at Ralph interrupting her as she stormed off in fury. Ralph looked at a composed May as he felt bad about the situation she was in.
"Are you okay?" Ralph asked.
'Yeah, I'm used to it by now," May laughed.
Ralph laughed as he enjoyed these youngsters entering into the profession. He knew that they were the future and he saw May going above and beyond. He walked away to go prepare for his final match as May decided to go outside and get some air. Ryan saw her and Pikachu as he ran up to her and hugged her.
"You killed it in the semifinals. I just hope you have enough steam left for the finals," Ryan said.
May nodded as she understood what Ryan meant. Had she used her best pokémon before the finals. Now she was worried that her act would fall apart. She knew she needed to be confident going into the finals.
"May I know you'll kill it out there. Love you," Ryan said as he kissed her.
May kissed him back as she heard the announcer call for all final contestants to come to the backstage. May separated from Ryan as she looked into his orange eyes.
"Love you too," May said.
Ryan got up from the bench and walked back into the crowded outdoor area as the mountains looked beautiful with the sunset. The outdoor lights flickered on as they lit up the stage for the prime time finale of the cool contest. Ryan was hopeful that this would be the one that May won.

May was loving the nighttime air as she was nervous about this contest. She knew that she had to be on point and hit her marks in order to win. She was still second guessing her choice on pokémon but knew it was too late. May saw the other three acts introduce their pokémon as Loudred and Ralph got a lot of fanfare.
"And from Littleroot town we have the always beautiful May Birch!" the announcer called out.
May looked at Swellow as it nodded. She hopped on its back and flew out surfing on its back. She kept her balance like she had practiced. She surfed through the rings as Swellow was going fast. The judges were impressed by the act as the crowd roared really loudly loving the cool thing that Swellow and May did. She hopped off Swellow with a flip and she bowed to the raging crowd. She felt confident now that the crowd was cheering louder than even Ralph and his Loudred had gotten. Ralph noticed this as he knew he needed to step his game up against her.
"And that is May and her surfing Swellow! How cool was that!" the announcer yelled.
May walked backstage as she saw the rest of the competition shaking expect for Ralph and his Loudred. She wondered what he had up his sleeve. May knew that she would win this. She had a feeling that she would win this.
"Good luck out their rookie," Ralph said.
"Good luck to you," May said.
May walked back to her dressing room as she got Swellow back to normal as it was prepared to show off its moves to the judges. Ryan was nervous but knew that he had a feeling for May as she exceeded his expectations. The announcer came back out and slowly called on everyone to show off their pokémon moves. They slowly showed the moves as they finally got to May. May decided to use some of Swellow's talents as the bird pokémon flew through the rings of fire while doing all types of cool tricks. May was hopeful she put on a good enough performance. Ryan was skeptical as he wasn't sure May had impressed the judges well enough. The contest was finished as the Judges tallied up their scores. They were taking longer than usual as May grew concerned. Eventually the judges agreed on something as Lisia went to announce the results.
"Hello everyone! Sorry for taking a while but we actually have a very rare occurrence... something that's never happened before," Lisia said.
May was nervous as she knew this wasn't going to bode well for her. Ralph waited with the rest of the contestants behind Lisia for the results.
"For the first time in contest history we have a tie. We decided to break the tie between May and Ralph by judging their semifinal scores as well. So, our winner is May Birch!" Lisia proudly said.
May looked as the crowd roared. Lisia came up to her to pin the ribbon on her as she hugged Lisia. Lisia decided to congratulate her.
"Congrats girl I knew you had it in you," Lisia whispered in May's ear.
"Thank you so much," May whispered back.
Ryan couldn't believe that May had pulled off the upset and that it went towards her favor. He ran down the crowd and past the guards as he hugged her and kissed her. The guards were close by as Lisia told them to back off. Ralph laughed as he decided his long career was over. He walked over to May to congratulate her on her win.
"Congrats on the win rookie. I guess I'm getting too old for this thing," Ralph said.
"You're not old Ralph," May said.
"Well, I think I'm retiring. Loudred and I will live a good life knowing we have you to carry the torch," Ralph said.
May nodded as she was glad that Ralph wasn't mad at her. She hugged Ralph as he walked away and went off to go home. May turned to her boyfriend as she kissed him again. She was so happy that she didn't even realize Cyndi giving her a death stare. They walked back to the pokémon center to get some rest as Gabby and Ty stopped them in front of the pokémon center.
"May do you have some time to answer some questions?" Gabby asked.
"Yeah sure," May said.
Gabby nodded as she turned to Ty who started to record the report for the news. May was excited that her mom would see her on the eleven o'clock news.
"Hi this is Gabby with the Hoenn News Network bringing you extensive coverage of the contest spectacular in Verdanturf. We're here with our winner May Birch from Littleroot Town," Gabby introduced.
May was excited as Pikachu looked into the camera and waved. Viewers all over were captivated by the new fresh face as her pokémon were lively.
"So, May how does it feel to finally nab one and punch your ticket into the finals?" Gabby asked.
"Oh, it feels great. Now I can focus on training for the finals," May answered.
"Well, we heard from her and we'll go to commercial," Gabby said.
May nodded as she walked into the pokémon center and went to her room with Pikachu and Ryan. They changed into their sleepwear and feel asleep quickly as it had been a long day. Ryan was glad that May won the contest and didn't' have to worry.

May decided to call her mother before she went to bed to tell her about her victory. May sat at the video phone as she dialed the number. In Littleroot Town Brenda answered the phone as she came up on the screen.
"Mom guess what?" May asked excitedly.
"What honey?" Brenda asked.
"I won the cool contest!" May shouted with glee.
"Oh my god that's wonderful!" Brenda said.
May nodded as she showed off her ribbon to her mom. Brenda was so excited to see her daughter advance to the finals. She had her doubts as she was wondering if her daughter would actually win.
"It was so cool no pun intended," May laughed.
"How did it all go down?" Brenda asked.
"Well, it came down to a tie breaker. I got a perfect score in my previous round and I won that way," May explained.
Brenda nodded as she was glad that May had won the tiebreaker. She wondered however where her boyfriend was as he had gone to bed.
"Where's Ryan?" Brenda asked.
"Oh, he went to sleep. We have a busy day traveling all the way to Fallabor Town. I hope to see Professor Cozmo there as well. I know dad and him are great friends," May said.
"Well, I'm so proud of you and can't wait to go to the finals and see you perform," Brenda said.
"Thanks mom that means a lot," May said.
Brenda nodded as she heard the door open to the house. She knew that her husband had just got home.
"May I got to go and finish dinner. See you soon," Brenda said.
May nodded as she waved goodbye to the screen. The call ended as May heard a laugh. She turned around and saw her rival Cyndi with her Jigglypuff.
"You got extremely lucky tom boy," Cyndi said.
"Nah I won with my skill... I suggest you leave me alone," May calmly said.
"You'll never beat me in the finals!" Cyndi said.
May sighed as she walked away with Pikachu in tow. May didn't have the energy to argue as she went to her room where she saw Ryan watching the news.
"Hey babe," May said.
"Hey my love," Ryan said.
May laid down in her bed as she heard a thunderclap. She jumped up as Pikachu and her got into bed with Ryan. Ryan laughed as she snuggled up to him.
"I love you..." May said.
"I love you too," Ryan said.
Ryan kissed her on the head as he fell asleep in her arms. He was there to protect her as she hated storms. She knew that he would always be there for her as she was glad, she had someone. Growing up in a small town she never really had friends. She had acquaintances but never any deep friends. She yelped as another thunderclap was heard. Ryan woke up as he felt May shake.
"Jeez you really hate storms, don't you?" Ryan said.
"Yeah, I had a bad experience with my dad that involved a storm," May said.
"Tell me about it," Ryan requested.
"Oh, you don't want to hear about my childhood," May dismissed.
"Nonsense... I love you so I want to hear about how you grew up," Ryan reassured.
May nodded as she told a story about how her father and her got stuck in Route 101 in the most severe storm, she had ever been in. They had to take shelter as the winds howled around them. She finished telling the story as she laughed at the memory.
"So that's why I'm so scared of storms," May admitted.
"I understand completely," Ryan said.
"Well, we should get to bed we have a busy day tomorrow," May said.
Ryan nodded as he fell back asleep with her in his arms. Pikachu snuggled next to May as she was between Ryan and Pikachu.
