Authors Note
Hello and welcome to Pokemon Delta Emerald Chapter 14. So I just want to thank everyone for the awesome feedback that I got. My posting may be sporadic as I have been sick. Fortunately I don't have Covid or anything serious, but I will probably require a minor surgery. I'll try to post if I can but I don't want to make any promises. Anyways enough personal stuff let us get right to the action.
May had finished her day with the media which went rather swimmingly. She decided to head to the pokémon center with Ryan and get some food. Cyndi was waiting for her angry at what she said at the press conference.
"Why did you mouth off to the media tom boy!" Cyndi said.
"Cyndi I just answered how I felt. Do you want me to lie to the media?" May asked annoyed.
"I'm not insecure!" Cyndi yelled.
The crowd looked at the two as the confrontation was intense. People pulled their phones out ready to record whatever for the media outlets and social media. May decided to not engage but say one last thing.
"I honestly think you are and for that I'm sorry," May said calmly proceeding to walk off with Ryan towards their room.
Cyndi stomped off running towards the exit of the pokémon center. Ryan entered the room with a big grin. May looked at him as they grabbed each other and fell to the bed. They laid in bed together kissing passionately. They eventually stopped as May needed some air.
"That was amazing how you handled that?" Ryan said.
"Yeah, she honestly has a problem," May said.
"Well, you showed her up didn't you."
May nodded and leaned in for kiss. She grabbed the back of his head and kissed him in a frenzy. They eventually rolled over in the bed tired from today. Tomorrow they would see Professor Cozmo and would find out if Ryan's powers were related to anything he was studying. May was sure it was related to mythology and was scared that she might lose her best friend and lover. Over the past couple of months, she had grown to love this boy. She still remembered first meeting him in her bedroom when he moved to town. They've been inseparable ever since. She felt so many feelings she had never felt before.
"What are you thinking about?" Ryan asked.
"Oh, just about you is all," May said.
"What about me," Ryan said.
"Just how you pretty and irresistible. A nice person and caring," May said.
"I could say the same about you," Ryan laughed.
They kissed rolling around and falling off the edge of the bed. Ryan and May laughed together getting back up. They hopped into bed together and turned the television on. They watched the news with Gabby and Ty. They were wondering what was going on in the world. Ryan was wondering if Team Magma would be on the news. May looked over at Ryan who had a blank stare on his face.
"Are you concerned about Team Magma?" May asked.
"Yeah, I want to know more about them. I want to know if they're evil like Team Aqua or harmless," Ryan said.
"I think they are like Team Aqua. They have a goal and are determined to complete it no matter the cost," May answered.
"Well, I just hope it doesn't end the world. I couldn't imagine living without you," Ryan admitted.
May nodded as she lightly kissed Ryan on the lips. She rolled over and slowly closed her eyes. She drifted off into sleep and eventually lightly snored. Pikachu snuggled with her as Ryan stayed up and wondered what he was supposed to do about his powers.
'Man, I wish I didn't have to worry about these powers I have,' he thought to himself.
He rolled over letting the tiredness take him. His world was going black as he prayed that no nightmares plague him.

Ryan woke up thankful that he had no weird dreams. He quietly got out of May's grasp creeping quietly to take a nice hot shower. Ryan was wondering what this Professor Cozmo person would be like. While Ryan took his shower May began to stir feeling the warmth gone from her body. She looked over and saw Pikachu eating some food and wondered where Ryan had gone too. She heard the shower running knowing that he was in the shower.
"Hey Pikachu," May said.
"Chu!" Pikachu said.
May picked up the yellow mouse. She nuzzled against her neck and purred. Pikachu was happy to see her trainer happy and loved the cuddling her trainer gave her. Pikachu was glad that she stayed outside her ball as she was scared of being in the ball. Ryan came out and was dressed in his usual sporty look with his gray beanie. He however had no shirt on which was in his hands. May stared at his athletic physique which Ryan noticed. She blushed and looked away. He smiled and slipped into his shirt.
"Looking good today," May complimented meekly.
"Thanks babe," Ryan said.
May nodded as she grabbed her clothes and took a quick shower. She put on her athletic outfit looking in the mirror to make sure she was good. She walked out to the room seeing Ryan playing with Pikachu.
"Ready to go?" she asked.
"Yeah," Ryan said.
Pikachu hopped onto May's shoulder ready to go. They walked out to the lobby of the pokémon center and saw a big crowd waiting outside the contest hall. They first decided to stop by Lanette's house to meet the lady who upgraded the famous pokémon storage system that Bill from Kanto built. They walked into the small house as it was piled with books and computer equipment. A ginger haired girl with glasses came out from behind her desk as she heard visitors.
"Hello I'm Lanette. Who are you guys?" Lanette said.
"I'm Ryan and this is May," Ryan introduced.
"Ah you're the girl who won the cool contest in Verdanturf Town. Shame I don't get to see you perform in the cleverness contest. I'm the guest judge," Lanette said.
"Oh, so you're a fan of mine?" May asked.
"Yeah, I love you because you remind me of me when I was your age," Lanette said.
"That's cool I'm glad to have such a fan," May said.
Lanette nodded as she looked at Ryan who was fiddling with his bag. She could tell he was a trainer going for the crown of the pokémon league.
"I assume you're a trainer?" Lanette asked.
"Yeah, how can you tell?" Ryan asked.
"You have this aura about you. I remember feeling the aura from Ethan when I met him," Lanette explained.
"You know Ethan the champion of Johto?" Ryan asked.
"Yeah, I know him and Red. I met them when I was in Kanto and Johto working with Bill," Lanette explained.
"Wow what was he like?" Ryan asked.
Lanette laughed as she remembered her encounter with the famous trainer from Johto. Ryan was fascinated with Ethan who was his idol growing up. He was the best trainer in all of Johto. He even beat Red supposedly but it was only a rumor.
"You must be from Johto if you love Ethan so much?" Lanette asked.
"Yeah, I'm from Olivine City," Ryan said.
"Wait are you Norman's kid?" Lanette asked.
Ryan nodded knowing that he had to be a great trainer. Ryan was glad that someone knew who he was.
"Well, we got to get going to Professor Cozmo's house," May said.
"Well, it was nice talking to you two. Good luck on your journey," Lanette said.
They nodded and walked out the front door waving goodbye. They headed out to the town and walked to Professor Cozmo's humble house. They saw that the door was open and were curious why his door was left open. They decided to investigate and hoped that Team Magma or Aqua weren't behind this. They walked into the ruined house as it was still fresh. May wondered who could have caused this.
"I wonder who caused all of this?" Ryan asked.
"I wonder if someone took him to Meteor Falls?" May asked.
"Well, it doesn't hurt to investigate," Ryan suggested.
May nodded and they both ran out towards Route 114 where the Meteor Falls were. May hoped that Professor Cozmo was safe since she had known him since childhood.

They reached the Meteor Falls as they saw Team Magma grunts guarding the entrance. Ryan knew right away that they were behind the sudden disappearance of Professor Cozmo. He had a gut feeling they were trying to get something from the professor. Ryan and May ran up to them as the grunts wouldn't let them by.
"Sorry kids no visitors. Turn back or else," the Team Magma grunt threatened.
"You have Professor Cozmo and I'm not going to let you bully him you jerks!" Ryan roared.
"Then bring it on!" the second grunt shouted.
They both sent out their Poochyena's as Ryan sent out his Combusken. He wiped the floor with the two grunts as they ran off scared of what their boss will do to them. Ryan and May entered the cave as they looked around for Professor Cozmo. Ryan felt the power surge in his veins and finally got to the bridge where black haired heavy set guy and a female Team Magma grunt stood before Professor Cozmo.
"You'll give us the meteorite or else Professor," the admin said.
"Never my research can't be compromised!" Professor Cozmo yelled.
Ryan and May ran up to the two as the female grunt turned around. She tapped on her boss's shoulder.
"Ah visitors, I'm Tabitha. I'm an admin of Team Magma," Tabitha introduced.
"I don't care who you are! Let go of Professor Cozmo!" Ryan roared as he began to radiate a green color.
"My, my, I see you have something special. Grunt help me defeat this kid for study," Tabitha ordered.
"With pleasure boss," the female grunt said.
Ryan roared as he sent out his Tentacool. He had lost all control as he was very angry. His power surged through his body as a man in glasses watched in the shadows. Tabitha and his grunt sent out a Koffing and a Mightyena respectively. Mightyena was the evolved form of Poochyena and was big wolf. Koffing was a purple floating ball that emitted toxic steam from its body. May decided to join the battle as she sent out Marshtomp.
"Tentacool use bubble beam on Koffing," Ryan ordered calmly.
"Marshtomp use mud slap on Mightyena," May called out.
"Mightyena use snarl on Tentacool," the female grunt ordered.
"Koffing use self destruct!" Tabitha ordered.
Mightyena ran off to dodge the self destruct. Koffing turned a bright white. He then let out a flashing bang. May and Ryan covered their eyes instinctively. Mightyena rejoined the battle taking a little bit of damage from the self destruct. Ryan and May's Pokémon were low on their health. May looked at her Marshtomp with concern as he panted. Ryan was too focused on the battle glowing a bright green. Ryan's Tentacool redirected its attack to Mightyena as it went flying back. Marshtomp hit it with mud as Mightyena fell out.
"Numel, I choose you!" Tabitha summoned.
A fire type small camel came out as it was weaker than Mightyena. Ryan knew that May and him had the type advantage as they both nodded.
"Tentacool use bubble beam," Ryan ordered calmly as he glowed green.
"Marshtomp use water gun," May commanded.
Tabitha knew he had no chance as he let the attack happen without a counter. Numel went flying back as they had won the battle. Ryan's glow slowly began to dim he felt his body weaken. Tabitha punched Professor in the stomach and grabbed his meteorite. The man in glasses came in from the shadows. He was fascinated with Ryan's abilities watching the whole battle.
"And you guys couldn't even do a simple task," the man with red hair and glasses said.
"You saw his powers boss!" Tabitha yelled.
"I did and I see you have the meteorite. I'm going to be watching you kid. The name is Maxie and I'm the leader of Team Magma," Maxie introduced.
"What are you doing?" Ryan asked.
"We're leaving gang," Tabitha ordered.
"Stop meddling in our plans... we crave to make a new world when we awaken the legend of the ground. I suggest you stop trying to stop us," Maxie said.
They rushed out of the cave as they were gone in an instant. Ryan collapsed to the ground feeling the energy rush out of his body. May cradled him as Professor Cozmo came up to them.
"Thanks for rescuing me. May Birch? May is that you?" Professor Cozmo asked.
"Yes, Professor it's me," May said.
"Pika!" Pikachu said.
"I see you've grown since I've last seen you. We better get your companion back to my house," Professor Cozmo said.
May nodded as they carried Ryan to the outside of the cave. May was worried he overexerted himself as she knew that he had little control of his powers. They carried him all the way back to Professor Cozmo's house.

Ryan woke up as he could hear May and someone else talking. He remembered his confrontation with Team Magma and shot up from the bed. May looked at him seeing the look of panic on his face.
"Ryan calm down we're okay," May said.
Ryan took a deep breath glad to see the professor was okay. They carried him all the way back to his house as they reorganized the house and spruced it up.
"What happened?" Ryan asked.
"You fainted again," May answered.
Professor Cozmo walked over to him. He was genuinely curious about the glowing markings on his arms.
"Your powers, when did this start happening?" Professor Cozmo asked.
"When I was in Slateport. Do you know what it could be?" Ryan asked.
"No but I think your best bet is to contact Steven Stone," Professor Cozmo said.
Ryan nodded dejected that the professor didn't have an answer to his question. Professor Cozmo got an idea what it was and ran and went digging through his books. He pulled out a book of mythology looking for the sign that was on Ryan's arms.
"I might have an answer for you. This symbol is a delta symbol. It was associated with a legendary pokémon," Professor Cozmo said.
"So that's it?" May asked disappointed.
"Unfortunately, I'm not an expert in this but I know Steven Stone might know the answer," Professor Cozmo said.
"Well, we better get going professor. It was nice seeing you but I have some business in the next city with Ryan," May said.
"Ah okay get some rest before you head out to Mount Chimney. I think Team Magma might be taking the meteorite up there," Professor Cozmo said.
Ryan and May nodded as they walked outside into the night sky. They walked to the local cafe and decided to eat some dinner. Ryan was exhausted from his battle. He couldn't believe that Team Magma was going to a volcano. He needed to stop them knowing that they were up to no good.
"Ryan are you okay?" May asked.
"I'm fine just tired. I wish we could figure out what is the deal with these powers I have," Ryan answered.
"Don't worry you'll find out. I just hope you aren't going to die," May said.
"Don't worry I don't plan on dying anytime soon," Ryan laughed weakly.
Their food was brought out as they dined on some soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. The local vegetable soup tasted delicious as Ryan had regained some of his lost energy. They decided to head in for the night as Ryan was still recovering from using his powers. Ryan hopped onto the bed and instantly went to sleep. May fell on her bed as Pikachu jumped up with her. He knocked out instantly and snoared lightl.
"Pikachu?" Pikachu asked concerned about Ryan.
"He'll be fine Pikachu. At least I hope he will be," May said.
"Pika Pika," Pikachu said reassuring her.
"Thanks girl. Let's get some sleep we have some business to attend to tomorrow," May said.
Pikachu nodded as she curled up to her and they both fell asleep. Ryan was out cold exhausted from the whole day. He could feel he was in a dream and heard a female voice. He shut his mind off as the dream disappeared and he slept peacefully.

Ryan and May stood in the center of the pokémon center as they were getting their pokémon checked out before their long trip back to the cable cars to see where Team Magma was. Ryan had a feeling they were up to something at the top of the volcano. The nurse came out with Pikachu and their fully recovered pokémon.
"Your pokémon are fully healed," the nurse said.
"Thanks," Ryan and May said.
They walked out as they saw a busy Lisia chatting with Chaz before the contest began. Lisia smiled as she saw her friends for the first time in a while.
"Hey girl you heading out?" Lisia asked May.
"Yeah, we're heading to Mount Chimney to check out the sights," May said.
"Sweet we'll be seeing you in Sootopolis City for the beauty contest then?" Lisia said.
"You bet," May answered.
"Great and good luck on your gym challenges Ryan," Lisia said.
"Yeah, good luck to both of you," Chaz said.
May and Ryan nodded as they walked out to Route 113 where they wore cloth masks to protect from the ash. They eventually made it to Route 112 where they decided to take a lunch break. May eat her food noticing that Ryan was distant.
"What's wrong Ryan?" May asked.
"I don't know I'm just worried about Team Magma and their plans. Plus, I need an answer on these powers I have," Ryan admitted.
"Ryan, I just think you need to let go and embrace these powers. I know they come from a place of love. At least that's how I look at it," May answered.
Rya wondered what she meant as he confused by how these powers originated. What does love have anything to do with it.
"What do you mean?" Ryan asked.
"Well, I notice when someone you care about is in danger the powers activate. Maybe the powers have something to do with love and compassion?" May asked.
"You know you might be onto something," Ryan said.
For the first time in a while Ryan felt he had an answer for something. He knew that this was right as it had activated when May was threatened by Team Magma or Team Aqua.
"You think that this has to do with our love?" Ryan asked.
"I mean it only makes sense. Our love is powerful so maybe even I can do it," May said.
"I hope not. I wouldn't want you to worry about that," Ryan said.
"I think we should get going," May said.
"Yeah, we need to get going before Team Magma destroys the world," Ryan said.
They got up as they headed towards the cable cars where Team Magma grunts were no longer there. Ryan and May paid for a ticket and took the slow ride up the mountain range. May was in awe at the beauty as they viewed the whole Hoenn region. She thought she could see Littleroot town from here and reflected on her long journey here. They reached the peak of the mountain as they saw both Team Magma and Team Aqua fighting near the volcano. Ryan was ready as he busted out of the cable car towards the action with May in tow. She hoped they were in time to thwart whatever they had planned.
