A Mothering Monster

Hello, sorry for the massive weight for this. I have taken a larger liking towards AO3 at the moment, due to finding the site much more enjoyable/easier to write for... as well as the site doesn't break every week or so.

Also, it has been decided that this profile will only feature SFW or less lewd stuff. Unless it is already on this profile, then it will stay. My more NSFW stuff in the future will be found on my A03 Page - Unknown Enforcer.

Anyways, sorry for the large wait for this story. This should be the final chapter of this story, if it isn't the final one, then it would be the final one, with the next chapter being a Epilogue. I know I have a lot of trouble closing out stories, but I am trying to improve on them.

Anyways, in the running for the next story ideas; Acromantula's/Spiders, Nundu.

I figured going for Acromantula story after the Basilisk one might be a little cool, and the Nundu one, well there has been an idea for that one for a little bit now.

So, I am leaving a Poll on my profile for you guys to vote on which one gets done next; Nundu or Acromantula.

For those wondering, this AN/Notes section is only 225 words long.

Chapter 3 - Mother Basilisk

Harry stood frozen on spot as the large, great beast continued to gaze at him. It's toxic yellow eyes were slightly covered by a rather thin layer of what seemed to be a secondary eyelid that protected the eyes from dust or possible damage.

Yet, as there was a fleeting feeling of fear within his body, there was also something else building up within him, and he couldn't explain how or why it was happening, but for some odd reason, he was feeling comfort, love and warmth being exuded by the creature towards him, and he felt all nice and warm inside once he found that out.

"Uh..." He muttered out, not exactly sure on what do to in this sort of situation.

"Speaker." The great beast hissed out. The voice was rather rough, but there was a hint of a motherly and soft undertone, "It'sss great to finally meet you, my hatchling." As soon as the great beast uttered those words, a large, pink forked tongue poked out into the air, and Harry could tell that the tongue alone was probably half of the size of him, and beyond that, he could see a plethora of large, sharp fangs that protruted from its mouth.

"It's uh... great to meet you too?" He questioned out, clearly uncertain to what to reply to the creature in front of him, however, he couldn't help but ask something that had been on his mind ever since he had laid eyes on the large creature in front of him, "What... are you?" He questioned, although he had hoped that it didn't sound rude to the creature in front of him.

Yet, his fears were quelled when he noticed that the large serpent creature seemed to huff in pride, and slither just a little closer than him.

"I, am a Basilisk. The King of all Serpents... well, Queen in this case..." The creature, now known as a Basilisk seemed to gain a somewhat sheepish expression - if serpents could actually do that, Harry didn't know - yet, to go along with that expression, the tip of the Basilisk's tail seemed to scratch atop of her head.

"A Basilisk?" Harry repeated, seeing the serpent nod, looking unblinkingly at him, he looked away from the creature. Something was irking him about those eyes, and he didn't know what it was... but he didn't want to find out, "I've never heard of them before." He muttered out.

The Basilisk slithered even closer to him, before her tail started to gently coil around his body, making sure that there no was no escape from the incoming coil, yet Harry noted that it had warmed him up slightly due to the heat. As Harry peered up towards the large Basilisk, he could see that it was looking down at him, but it wasn't in a bad way... almost... well, like a doting manner, "Of course you haven't." She murmured out, her tongue flicking out to taste the air, before lowering her head down closer to his body, yet keeping her eyes locked onto his, "People are most certainly afraid of my species, and well... I haven't been... noticed for the past for... a half-century at least." She muttered out at the end, not exactly sure on how many years it had been.

She could still remember it well, and it wasn't something that she liked to remember.

That poor girl in the bathroom. That entire situation could've been avoided if that slimy bastard named Tom Riddle wasn't a Parseltongue, like her little hatchling was.

If Tom Riddle ever reared his ugly head again and tried to take control of her, then she would gladly rip him to shreds! She would only listen to her little hatchling and his close friends or loved ones - after her hatchling translated for her, of course!

However, as a few awkward moments passed, Harry blinked, his bottle-green eyes widening in confusion behind his glasses as something finally became clear in his mind, "What did you mean by 'hatchling'?" He questioned, never having heard the term before, nor did he know the explanation for it.

"Hatchling means that you are a baby." The Basilisk said, pressing her snout gently against Harry's face, before her forked tongue gently lashed out, licking his check before retracting back into her mouth, "You are my baby. My speaker." She said once again, before pushing her snout gently against his head, almost like the great creature was snuggling into him.

Harry couldn't help but blush at the rather possessive tone that the Basilisk took, and once again, a nice, bubbly feeling made itself known inside him as he felt his heartrate quicken, "So... like a... mother?" He questioned out softly and slowly.

He winced a bit when he felt the coil that was around him tighten, and he was afraid that he might've said something that she didn't like.

However, his fears were quelled once again when he felt his body get turned ever so slightly. He cracked open his eyes a margin, and to his relief he saw that the Basilisk looked... happy and joyful instead of angry.

"Yesss." She hissed out, nodding her head at that, once again, her forked tongue gently lashed out and touched his cheek, where he giggled at the slimy feeling that it brought to his cheek, "A mother. You are my hatchling afterall, and I will do anything to protect you, even if it means that you need to sleep down here to get away from the mean people."

Harry couldn't help but let a few tears loose as he heard the conviction in the Basilisk's... no, his new mother's voice. Even though the clear difference in species, he could somehow tell that she was being completely honest, and it made him feel loved. Moreso than what he had ever felt before, and it was so much more better than how the Dursley's or anyone else had treated him.

"Mama..." He muttered out, before trying his best to wrap his hands around his new mother, although it failed spectacularly due to the sheer size difference.

The Basilisk merely stayed quiet as she listened to her poor hatchling wrapped his arms around her to the best of his ability. She could easily tell that he was crying, or getting very close to crying by the way his body was shivering and from the small sniffles that he was doing.

"It's alright hatchling, I'm here, and always will be..." She murmured out, before gently resting her head on top of her hatchlings, before making her coils even tighter, which made it seem like she was returning the hug to him despite the lack of limbs.

Basking in the warmth that was the Basilisk's coils, Harry was unable to help himself, and he soon entered a slumber, the warmth of her coils and the love he was feeling from her was enough to send him off into a nice, comfortable sleep, probably one of the best sleeps that he ever had.

As the Basilisk watched her hatchling fall asleep in her warm, protective coils, she felt something within her, something that she hadn't quiet felt before. It made her large, reptilian heart pound within her body, and it made herself almost at peace as she watched her precious little speaker yawn cutely and snuggle deeper into her coils.

'Is this... what it's like to be a mother?' She questioned herself, not knowing what this experience was. She herself didn't have a mother, nor did she have any real family connection, apart from her very old master centuries ago, yet even then, it was more of a 'Master-Pet' relationship... not this.

Shaking her head away from those thoughts, she continued to watch as her little hatchling continued to get comfortable within her coils and scales. It took a few minutes, but the Basilisk was able to tell that her hatchling had entered a deeper stage of sleep, as his breathing went down to a constant level, and his body heat started to lower ever so slightly.

Gazing around the area that they were currently in, she hissed in mild annoyance.

This place just wasn't suitable for her precious little hatchling to rest in. So, carefully maneuveing herself around, she made sure to keep a firm, steady grip on her hatchling, although she took great care in order to not squeeze the life out of him by mistake, then she slowly slithered around, making her way towards the entrance of the secret entrance in which she was normally kept.

It would be a tight squeeze, with her little hatchling resting on the back of her body, but that was the safest option to go with for the relatively tight and cramped squeeze. She would try to place him in her mouth for safekeeping, however, she was more than certain that if her hatchling woke up whilst he was in there, he would freak out, and the consequences were just too great for her to even attempt that.

Plus, there was always a risk that he might move in his slumber and accidentally puncture himself on her fangs and poison himself with the greatest poison known to man that didn't have a cure for. Plus, there was always the added risk that her saliva might coat him a little too much, and he might wiggle free from her tongues grip and slide down her throat.

That couldn't happen. Not on her scales.

'It's alright, hatchling. Mama's here.' She thought to herself, giving her hatchling a reassuring squeeze as he whimpered from the cold sensations of droplets of water hit his bare skin. As continued to slither her way through the tight pipes of the large and intricate statue her master had made so many centuries ago, she had other thoughts running through her mind.

Mainly, her thoughts were mostly occupied by the human girl that Harry seemed to have a great bond with. From what she was able to tell when she made her rounds through the pipes of the castle to keep a careful eye on her speaker, she had noticed how that blonde girl seemed to have a very deep and emotional bond with her speaker.

In a way, she was feeling a little conflicted about that.

For one, she wanted to keep her adorable little hatchling all to herself. However, it seemed like that wasn't possible, as he seemed to have a great friend that was genuinely honest with him, and her intentions were pure. Plus, she had to admit, from seeing a few of the interactions that those two had, she had to admit, they were too gosh darn adorable for anyone to handle.

Plus, she seemed to be the only friend that her speaker seemed to have, as he was busy dealing with the lonliness or perhaps even fallen into the backs of peoples mind, which could really place a lot of... self-doubt onto a person, she should know, she had witnessed a lot of things within the castle walls, and she had seen her fair share of... depressed students... with some taking their life due to it.

It wasn't a pretty sight, but that was sadly the case.

However, she firmly resolved within herself that she would allow her speaker and precious little hatchling to bring the girl down to meet her. Sure, she might not be able to understand her, but at least she could have her hatchling be the translator between the two of them.

She just had to make sure that she kept her second eyelids over her eyes whilst she was down in this area.

However, once again shaking her head from those thoughts as he tongue flicked out idly, tasting the rather damp air around in the pipe, she could finally see the large, private area in which she was able to sleep with comfort and with a precious heat source to keep her warm.

Slowly slithering around the room, she gently set her little hatchling down in the middle of the room, before she gently coiled around him once more, making sure to leave enough room so that he could comfortably breath. Resting her head near her hatchlings little resting place, she gently looked at him, her large eyes locked onto his small form, much like a mother would continue to watch thier baby, even after they had sucsessfully fallen alseep.

He needed to be protected, as their were a few poisonous spiders and other sort of creepy crawlies within the area, and she had to make sure that he was well protected from possible harm from them.

That was her job, and one that she would gladly do.

Harry groaned lightly as he felt himself starting to slowly wake up from the most wonderful and comfortable sleep that he had experienced in well... forever.

Cracking his eyes open, he was able to see that his new... mother was fast alseep, her body rising and falling with her breathing, but she was still coiled protectively around him, not too tightly, nor too losesly, but with just enough that her warmth was basically soaking into his body.

However, as he dragged his attention away from the massive 'Queen of all Serpents', he frowned lightly in confusion as he noticed that he was in a new area, one that was completely different than the chamber that he remembered falling asleep in.

This room seemed to be a lot more... homely. It was warmer, just a little brighter, and didn't have this constant smell of moldy water or damp air. In fact, Harry could say that it felt perfect, and for certain, this was probably even more comfortable than the dorm rooms, and if it was possible, perhaps he would be able to sneak into this place to rest. Although he didn't know a way out, he was sure that his new mother would be able to tell him, along if there was a certain password or phrase that needed to be spoken out for it to reveal itself.

Gently tapping on his new mothers scales and trying his best to push on her to gently rouse her from her sleep, he murmured out, "Mother..."

It seemed as though his voice was enough to rouse her from her slumber, as her upper half slowly rose, easily toweing over him once again, looking as powerful and graceful as ever, "Hatchling..." She hissed out gently, gently peeling open her eyes, revealing that they were rather hazy and unfocussed as she woke up, "You're awake..." She hissed out once again, before making an odd noise which to Harry, almost sounding like she was yawning.

"Yes... sorry for waking you." Harry quickly muttered out, hoping that she wasn't mad at him for doing such a thing.

"It's alright, hatchling." She hissed out once again, before tightening her coils slightly around him, "I needed to speak to you about something."

Harry blinked in confusion, his large bottle-green eyes staring confusedly at the massive mothering serpent, "What?" He questioned out with a small tilt of his head.

"That girl that you always hang around with..." She begun, unsure to continue on, she had never really remembered the name of the girl that her hatchling always hung around.

"Oh, Daphne?" He questioned, seeing the massive serpent nodding its head, he continued, "What about her? Is she in trouble?"

"No, nothing like that." The Basilisk quickly interupted, waving her tail tip back and forth like it was a second head, "Do... do you want to bring her down here as well?" She suddenly asked.

Harry paused for a moment, almost like he was trying to think of the consequences of doing so, and how it might possibly affect their friendship, however, as he gazed up at his new mother his eyes wide with fear and he softly questioned her, "You... won't eat her... will you?"

The Basilisk vehemently shook her head, "Of course not! I will never hurt my hatchlings friends..." She hissed out, almost sounding a little concerned that he would think of that straight away, "I just... wanted to know. I want to meet the person who kept my hatchling happy."

"Oh." Was Harry's ever so eloquent reply, looking rather sheepish as he felt the coil loosen around him, "I'll try to bring her down... once I find her again in the castle." Harry said, a small smile on his face as he imagined bringing his friend down here, although, a small frown soon replaced that smile once he realised something, "Uhm... how do I leave this place?" He questioned, gazing around the place, unable to find any sort of entrance or exit way.

She released a small rattling hissing noise, which to him, sounded like a giggle or titter, "Hatchling, see that statue?" She said, bringing her tail and pointing it towards a rather normal looking statue of the same man from the previous one in the other room.

Following the tail, Harry was able to spot the statue, nodding his head, he looked towards his mother, "What about it?" He questioned softly once again.

"To exit, all you need to say is 'Exit' rather bland I know... master was never one for exiting theatrics." She said a small sigh as the way to gain entrance to this room was so much cooler.

Nodding his head at that, Harry gently climbed over the coil and scales of his new mother before making his way to the statue on the other side of the room, before looking at the statue and focusing really hard on it, "Exit!"

At first, nothing happened, then suddenly the ground started to rumble softly, before the statue split in two, revealing that there was a small, hidden passage behind it, and one that had a rather... bland looking staircase that most likely lead back up to the castle, and if not that, then perhaps somewhere around the courtyard or side of the castle, where ever was most hidden.

Quickly glancing over his shoulder, he saw his new mother slowly coiling around herself, however, her eyes were locked onto him, almost like she was watching to make sure that he made it up the staircase alright, "Bye, mother."

"Goodbye, hatchling. Do be safe... If you ever need me, I'll be in the pipes, watching over you." She said, before lowering her head down to her body.

Nodding his head at that, Harry turned around to face the staircase, a small smile on his face as he started to ascend up the stairs, leaving his new mother in the room below, and moments later, the statue reformed perfectly, not even a small crack within it as it locked behind him.

END CHAPTER

Alright guys, I do hope that you enjoyed this chapter. Once again, sorry for taking so long, it's just that I have taken a better liking to A03, due to it being easier, more in-depth, and for the fact it doesn't break every other day.
