The Fate of the First Hero of Light

The Knight, the Dark Elf and myself are running.

We are moving eastwards through the desert.

In the distance another sand Golem moves to attack us.

The Knight moves his mighty sword with such speed it looks as if he is shoveling sand as he hits the Golem.

The Golem collapses into dust but immediately starts to slowly reconstruct itself.

"CURSES!"

The Knight is extremely irate, normally I would reprimand him for his stupidity.

But he is so frustrated, I think he might cry.

A mighty warrior who has slain mighty dragons, unable to defeat a weak enemy like a Golem. It must be almost to much to bear.

"GEIR! WHY DO YOU NOT SPEAK?" booms the frustrated Knight.

"Knight, I am formulating a plan. Please defend us even if it might seem hopeless."

"I UNDERSTAND!"

His strength has returned and his eyes have sharpened, he stands stronger.

I am carrying the Dark Elf is on my back.

She pulls on my parka.

"Vivi?"

"Geir I am absorbing the magical force from your ice magics. I am almost finished replenishing my internal stores, it will not take much longer."

"I understand, Knight corral all the Golems as close as possible to each other!"

"I UNDERSTAND! AT LONG LAST!"

The Knight quickly moves through the sand puppets, guiding them together.

The Golems charge automatically towards any foe, they only have a set pattern of strikes and attacks.

They lack any other intelligence.

They move to strike the Knight and are swiftly rounded up.

"GEIR IT IS DONE! LADY VIVILARA!"

"Thank you Sir..."

I hear the sound of popping and crackling in the air.

The Dark Elf is weaving hand signs and incanting a spell.

It is completed, without delay the spell is cast, all of the Golems are instantly encased in crystal.

The constructs still move slowly but they are harmless now.

"DAMN IT ALL!"

The Knight punches one it shatters into small crystals blocks.

Immediately I see his face change.

Remorse.

He had, had his anger take control.

"Sir...!"

The Dark Elf runs towards him and embraces him.

It is almost as if he wants to collapse, I have to save this situation.

"Knight losing control is not acceptable, but I also feel that a warrior that had no emotions. Is not one that should be respected."

"GEIR!"

"Lady Vivilara thank you for your concern. I understand Geir."

"Knight unfortunately this battle is not one or two of us can complete alone. In the desert my ability to produce ice magic is drastically reduced, I would not be able to use it offensively. Vivi has to siphon the rest of my magics to balance hers. I can only use my broadsword and my fists. The quest depends on your strength as a warrior, even if I rarely speak kind words to you. I believe in this world at the moment in time you are the mightiest warrior alive."

"GEIR!"

I see him tear up.

The Dark Elf still holds him.

I turn around, I hear he is crying.

I look at the sky the sun is shining brightly.

"Why Zelda?" I think to myself.

"Knight, the Fire Mage is being treated by a most capable Mage. When I cut off my cousin's legs she attached them and their function completely returned."

"GEIR!" The Dark Elf screams at me.

"I understand Geir. If you would speak so highly of this Mage, I believe in my heart my friend will recover." says the Knight speaking sadly.

"Knight know this, if Zelda does not give me satisfactory answers. I am going to flay her alive. If you wish to defe..."

"GEIR SIR... IS MORE THAN A FRIEND TO ME. HE IS MY OWN FAMILY! I STILL BELIEVE IN THE QUEEN, THAT SHE IS INNOCENT! HOWEVER I WILL NOT OBSTRUCT YOU, IF THERE IS GUILT! LADY VIVILARA I ONLY ASK THAT YOU WOULD NOT INVOLVE YOURSELF IN ANY TORTURES OR BRUTALITIES."

"Sir... I am not sure if that will be possible. Unlike how Geir feels, to me you and the Fire Mage are some of my closest friends. My husband likely told you he would punish the Queen because he knows. I will break her so completely. You would not be able to discern if she is dead or still alive."

Almost in unison the Knight and I shiver at the thought of her purple face with veins showing, handing out punishments and tortures.

Together we slowly start moving.

"Vivi get on my back."

"Do not worry Geir, my magics have recovered Sir... will carry me."

"BUT LADY VIVILARA!"

"Do not worry if my husband complains I will beat him severely."

"VERY WELL!"

The Knight is red faced he sheathes his mighty blade. Like one would imagine it would look if you read a child's fable, he carries the Dark Elf in his arms.

I am so relieved the Knight is someone who believes in absolute honour, even that Zelda would try to kill us might seem so foreign to him.

It would be an impossibility for him to believe it.

Yet still she had injured the Fire Mage so gravely.

If my younger cousin had not been there he would be dead.

The Fire Mage had before he lost consciousness confirmed that it was Zelda that attacked him.

For him to lie about such a thing is not possible.

But the caustic nature of his injuries.

The Zelda I knew could only use healing magics, but recently her eyes had started losing their light on our quests.

The real world and its cruelties weighing upon her heart.

Since young I had known heartache and disappointment.

What knowledge I had gleaned from her past.

She had a happy upbringing and had known no great tragedies.

People with the purest of hearts are also the ones who have the least resistance to the dark forces.

All we can do now is find her.

For her part I hope she gives me the right answers.

If not the Dark Elf is going to rip her to shreds.

I start moving my tired body.

"We are leaving..."

Finish.
