The Fate of the First Hero of Light

The Knight, myself and a twisted Zelda are standing in the destroyed inner courtyard of Zelda's family clan's compound.

The fountain shooting water from the broken pool makes a fine mist as it mixes with the dry air.

I had asked the Knight to break the walls so that we could be outside.

I have sealed the entrance to the compound from the inner room with my ice magics.

It will not melt, no matter how hot it is.

Again that attack a large bubble flies into my direction.

I do not defend, I stand still.

The bubble touches my parka.

It rolls off harmlessly and a few paces later bursts open, the acid spraying everywhere.

Zelda's skin has turned completely black and her eyes are red.

"GEIR WHAT SHOULD I DO!?" the Knight is crying.

He has accepted that he must kill his Queen.

The injuries the caustic liquid Zelda produces have burnt some of the inhabitants beyond recognition.

"Knight no matter what do exactly as I say. Do not deviate even slightly."

"WHAT DOES THAT MEAN GEIR!? THE QUEEN IS NOT LEAVING THIS ROOM ALIVE! NO INNOCENT SHALL SUFFER HER EVIL ANYMORE!"

This is the absolute worst.

He will not listen to reason anymore.

I ask the Dark Elf through our soul bond of the residents plight.

She says most have stabilized others are gravely injured.

I should free Zelda as soon as possible.

The injured would not last for more than two days.

At first I could not understand why Zelda would act this way...

But when I thought about the nature of her magics.

Her healing magics are of almost divinely nature, her living energies flows outside of her body almost infinitely.

The opposite of her healing magics would be something that takes away almost infinitely.

That is why she produces a caustic acid now.

The way she produced it is what led me to the discovery.

The liquid is constantly pouring down from her body.

The bubbles she produces come forth almost automatically, as if she is not using any conscious effort to form them.

Now that we are outside.

I can clearly see it.

Her shadow is of another creature.

Almost a hellish thing part insect and part humanoid, as she moves it moves in lockstep.

The Knight has not noticed, I am relieved.

This creature has some measure of intelligence. If it knows that I had discovered it.

I do not know what will happen to Zelda.

Inside of it, I see her the size of a small fetus that must be how the creature survives consuming the hosts living enegies.

The twisted husk of Zelda attacks caustic liquid flies everywhere.

I freeze it, it forms a mist and blows away harmlessly into the desert.

"Knight I am going to freeze her. Do not interfere no matter what."

"GEIR HAVE YOU ALSO BEEN TAINTED BY EVIL?! SHE WILL NOT LIVE A MOMENT LONGER! YOU WILL ALSO STAY HERE! UNTIL LADY VIVILARA RETURNS SO WE CAN ASCERTAIN YOU HAVE NOT BEEN CORRUPTED..."

I cannot wait any longer.

Immediately I freeze her.

I will grab the fetus inside the creatures core, then free her.

My foot slips on the water in the courtyard.

The Knight moves behind the frozen Zelda he lifts his sword.

"SHIT!"

I feel my hand go numb and it is twisted backwards.

I have the Zelda fetus in my left hand.

My shoulder is destroyed, it is still attached but even my strongest ice magic could not stop the force of the Knights blade striking me.

The pain is immense my right eye starts losing vision from the pain.

"GEIR YOU HAVE ALSO BEEN CORRUPTED!"

I see tendrils attached to the Zelda fetus, the creature is looking at me.

It seems only I can see it.

Before I can contemplate this, the numbness of my hand has subsided enough, the increasing pain surges throughout my right side, my legs want to give way.

A silver flash passes me...

CRASH

One of the jade tiles in front of me is shattered so badly you can only see the stone floor beneath it.

It is the Knight he has been pushed to far.

He will not listen to reason anymore.

Before I am killed, I run into the desert.

Out of our party members. I am the fastest and have the most endurance thanks to my tribes unique physiology.

It has been almost half a day.

The Knight must have been calmed, they are surely searching for me.

Still I cannot stop running.

I do not think I would be able to save Zelda immediately.

The creature is weak to heat, the sun taking its toll, it is getting weaker.

The fetus of Zelda is growing larger as time passes.

The tendrils are still attached but they are falling off slowly.

This could have been over in an instant, but the Knight had been pushed to far his mind breaking under the emotional strain.

My shoulder is broken I cannot even move my hand slightly.

To keep Zelda alive I have to adjust the ice magics in my left arm.

Carefully balancing it, not too cold to kill her, but if it is not cold enough, she will die immediately in the heat of the sun.

She is now barely bigger than a child that would not be able to survive on its own if born prematurely.

The tendrils are also not falling off anymore, because of my magic cooling them as well.

Vivi is trying to contact me, but I have to focus on so many things.

I do not even know where I am.

The wind has undoubtedly cleared my tracks, they will not be able to track me.

I can only move forwards.

The sun is almost setting.

Zelda is as large as a small child now but she is still unconscious.

I do not feel much life forces inside her.

I have lost the creature.

I had almost lost my balance when I hit a rock beneath the sand and when I had recovered it was gone.

My neck is stiff I roll my head...

I want to move it rightwards.

I hear a sound similar to cicadas.

I look left on my shoulder, it is sitting on it, STARING AT ME!

I roll out of my parka.

I throw it into the distance.

The beast is luckily still attached it flies into darkness.

Zelda drops onto the sand beneath me, I hear a searing sound and smell burnt flesh.

Her virgin skin burning on the sand. I pick her up and put her underneath my shirt.

I break my right arm and twist it in my jacket it moves so slowly.

I touch it my arm is almost COMPLETELY FROZEN!

I had not noticed I had been using ice magics in both arms.

My arm will not last for more than a quarter day if I still have to use my magics.

I feel the vibrations of something moving through the sand.

The creature shoots out of the ground.

There are large mandibles aiming for my throat.

I evade it, I stumble but luckily I do not fall over or drop the small Zelda.

It falls onto the sand and shakes it legs as if swimming in place.

The sand covers it completely.

Again it is moving through the sand.

It is so dark now.

I will have to change my cornea shape with my ice magics to enhance my vision.

I use my magic, my vision goes dark.

I cannot see anymore!

I release my magic, I can see poorly and very blurry.

The creature must have been siphoning my living energies as well, when I was running.

In front of me out of the sand it shoots up.

I kick it, it flies into the distance and lands onto the sand.

"Will have to do better than that to catch me!" I speak with my inside voice aloud.

"YoU hAve BeEn MaRkeD GeIr ThE hUmE yOu aNd yOur PaRtY wIlL pAy fOr ThE sIns Of yOuR PrEdeCessOrS!"

"Really then, come and show me."

It moves again, it jumps out in front of me, I reach to grab it.

I miss.

It cuts me slightly.

This continues for half a night.

I am bloodied, droplets of my blood falls on the sand, the small cuts have slowly taken its toll on me.

I do not have enough energies left, I will not be able to run anymore.

Each time it cuts, it drains a little bit of my magics.

I feel very tired. I want to sleep. I stare at the moonless night, the stars shining brightly.

I think to myself, "What am I even doing here?".

"TiMe tO DiE!"

The abomination is in the air jumping straight at me, aiming for my head.

"I was thinking the same thing."

I grab it with my healed arm, my frustration enhanced grip strength, cracks the beasts plate like outer skin.

CRACK

Firstly I rip its mandibles off, next I pluck each one of it's insectoid limbs off.

"AAAAIIIIIIII..."

It is screaming very loudly, twitching in pain, much to my delight, as I am dismembering it.

Finally I run out of appendages.

PLOP

I pull my finger out of the hole, that I formed in its skull.

"Geir, is it dead?"

"No, Zelda I have some questions I want to ask."

"Geir do you think you can get any information out of the creature?"

"I will have to ask for expert assistance."

"You cannot mean?"

"Yes, my Grandmother will make it sing many a song, before it expires."

The naked queen is shivering.

"It must be cold, here take my parka."

"Thank you, Geir."

Finish.
