The Fate of the First Hero of Light
My magics have been replenished.
My Grandmother is looking pale.
She has used much energies in healing and replenishing my magical stores.
Also my whole House was almost murdered, including her son and daughter(my parents) and her young grandchildren.
Her hands are shaking.
If not for Zelda throwing Uncle Detrinous into the room and momentarily distracting the Elders.
Everyone would be dead.
They had thought something was wrong. I had been restrained with magic and Uncle Brotan was approaching me to confirm their suspicions. If someone had made an attempt at my life. Through sheer luck the massacre was avoided. Even now my Grandmother is not composed.
With my fine senses I hear her pulse racing.
I reach out and put my hand on her shaking hand.
"It only means you have more things that are valuable to you. When you were young, you had nothing to lose. Now people care for you and you also care for others. Do not be as careless, as when you were young. Undoubtedly next time we will not be so fortunate, you will lose everything."
I talk with confidence, even though she is my Grandmother.
"Geir I..." tears are flowing down her face.
Zelda enters the room, I explain the situation.
I almost die of the shock.
She pulls two chairs closer, helps my Grandmother to sit down.
She grabs her hands and like you would comfort someone close to you.
Stroking her hands gently.
My Grandmother is crying harder definitely the shock and stress sinking in.
"Geir if you would, please leave this to me."
"I understand Zelda."
I leave the ladies room.
Definitely receiving some looks of disgust.
The meeting was a success, the various agreements and discussions having been settled.
The legal teams of the TADUC union, god I hate that name, and the Royal Houses settling the various legal documents.
It is almost evening.
I move outside and grab a bottle of sparkling wine.
As if I am still in school, I drink it straight out of the extremely expensive bottle.
The Dark Elf and myself speak through our soul bond.
The Knight has finally been calmed and the Fire Mage has recovered sufficiently to safely move on his own.
She is taking the longest possible route to reach us.
We will have to find satisfactory answers from the creature that had been controlling Zelda.
Zelda would not be forgiven easily by her clans people, if we could not prove she was being controlled.
Seeing as many people had died and some are still suffering from the wounds the controlled Zelda had given them.
The Knight is also not in a stable mental state.
The Dark Elf knows him well, he is not shouting as he would normally. Instead softly mumbling speaking only to himself.
The Fire Mage has deduced the situation and also what had happened to Zelda.
The Dark Elf asked him not to disclose any of this information to the Knight.
The blue moon is shining brightly in the clear sky.
I am making a list in my mind of all the questions and tortures I want my Grandmother to ask and inflict on the doomed beast. Most importantly when did it attack Zelda first? Did she consume it perhaps? It was living in her shadow and using her at its core to sustain its life. Can it move to another person? Zelda would eventually die of its attack. Could it attack another person or only stay with its host.
Long times pass, at another place...
Zelda and my Grandmother are wearing the same dress, as one does when you work at a medical facility.
We are in the expansive room my Grandmother uses to torture the unfortunate beings who are forced to enter the room.
The chains, whips, needles, spikes and other instruments of torture, that my Grandmother used in the past are gone.
The room is white and brightly lit now.
The green floor is made of something similar to rubber with a pattern of circles spread upon it.
Medical equipment fills the room.
There are many large glass tanks with green liquid containing various parts of beings that had unfortunately earned the ire of my Grandmother.
There are many surgical beds and metal tables to inflict cruelties on.
"Zelda give me some thongs, I need a new blade for the scalpel."
"Yes, Teela, here you are."
"NoO! jUst KilL mE PlEasE!" the little beast is trying to run, I can see this because the limbs that have been removed, nerves still attached are twitching violently.
Zelda is now on a first name basis with my Grandmother.
Zelda had approached her with much bravery and asked if they could talk casually.
They had found common ground in the study of medicine.
My Grandmother had always wanted to write a book on her life's experiences.
Zelda had requested, that she can share some of the knowledge. She had gained through her many years of experience in the torturing of living beings. So that the physiological knowledge she had gained would not be lost when she died.
Normally a medical degree and license would take many a suncycle to complete.
Zelda had requested the board make an exception.
They brought each and every test you had to take in the course's span. Which normally would take 6 suncycles or more to complete. They stacked them haphazardly on a large table. My Grandmother only asked for a dictionary containing the various terms and technical words used in medicine. That they also bring her enough stationary as necessary.
In the span of 5 days without sleep or rest.
She completed each and every test. Passing and placing in the top 5 of the best scores ever recorded. She was accepted by the medical faculty and a license was issued.
Zelda and my Grandmother then immediately started recording each and every beast or man, she had butchered in her life, the inner workings and structures, where nerves connected and how to extend a beings life before finally killing them.
This had happened when the Tulok Tribe was faced in combat with the Red Skinned Lizard Clan near the Dark Elf's ancestral home.
I was bound by marriage to defend the Dark Elves.
It was a bloody battle the blue blood of the lizards covering my parka completely.
When we had engaged them first.
We killed them so fast, we believed them to be weak.
Many of my Tribes people were famous entertainers, business person's and athletes.
The warm season had begun and the sporting season were starting.
The athletes and sports people excused themselves.
For they, "Had to train.", and prepare for the season.
One quarter of my Tribe left.
Battling for half a day further, still killing them easily.
The entertainers suddenly remembered.
"They also had to prepare for awards seasons and that filming would be starting soon."
So another quarter left.
Again battling through the night, killing the Lizards easily, heaps of the beasts making it difficult to walk through them.
The business people suddenly remembered.
"They had important meetings and business strategy plannings to do. That they had to attend."
Again another quarter left.
Battling again.
Still the beasts dying so easily our weapons had not even dulled.
The Elders also remembering, "They had physician appointments. That had to be kept."
The last remaining members left with many excuses.
Some had not known if they had forgotten the stove burning at home, it would definitely lead to a great disaster and "Had to be checked.".
So the others left, to deal with their own great catastrophes that "Had to be resolved.".
Now I am alone.
The beasts are getting stronger, they most likely sent their slaves as a buffer to tire us out.
But as I stand alone they are retracted.
I face real warriors now.
I have to pay attention.
In a hundred suncycles they could not kill me but hubris breeds misfortune.
I hear the roars of great earth dragons in the distance.
The dragons were difficult to deal with.
I killed one by mistake.
The other one I had tortured enough, that it would obey me completely.
I killed the Red Skin Lizard Clan's Chief, freed the Dark Elf slaves.
The destruction was complete.
The Red Skinned Lizard Clan was defeated in a true Tulok victory.
The Clan can never recover, the Lizards spirits having been broken.
The Dwarves arrived and were looking for any survivors that could be saved.
They took the civilians away so that they could receive trauma counseling and could be assigned to the Dwarven Mental Health Institute for further assistance.
Great Mother Hurmihilda arrives giving me the same disdainful look as always. She helps lead the survivors away.
I wanted to fly the Earth Dragon, but it was also confiscated!
Again alone with a blue parka!
Luckily on my way home a group of bandits attacked, I ripped out their throats.
Their blood tainting my parka red again.
Thank goodness!
Back to present times...
My Grandmother is explaining to a pale Zelda.
How to determine what a being says is true or is just saying something to try to escape the tortures.
Many moments later.
Zelda has emptied her stomachs contents into a large bucket many times.
Watching the tortures being inflicted, on the beast, being too much for her to bare.
Still I am amazed, she is making clear and concise illustrations and explanations on the functions of its body parts. That lay scattered on the operating table. All of them still functioning, the nerves still being attached.
The creature is weeping now. The interrogation has been finished.
The information we could extract from the beast:
It was first attached to Zelda when we had investigated the Dark Shrine of Kakariko's Temple.
It comes from a world unlike ours.
The second moon of our legends has been transported there or so it claims.
The rest is nonsense, it does not now anything that is useful.
Some time later...
My Grandmother had reconstructed it.
The sutures she had performed look so professionally done it looks like it was never opened.
The beast is totally harmless now.
Its mind and soul broken beyond repair.
Finally all the procedures are all complete.
Zelda is cleaning the various medical tools they had used.
My Grandmother is writing in a file compiling notes, drawing diagrams.
"Zelda will you do the illustrations?"
"Yes, Teela, I am done cleaning. Let us compare notes."
"Geir leave.."
I am shoved out of the door.
"What should I do with the beast Grandmother?"
I am talking to myself outside the hidden door, of the estate.
Not many times later the Dark Elf, Knight and the Fire Mage arrive.
I show them the creature and explain the findings.
The Knight is still looking dejected.
Zelda comes outside to greet them.
She is wearing one of my Grandmother's old parkas.
She had grown even taller now. The Knight does not look towards her.
She embraced the Knight, as if by magic his obnoxious screaming was resurrected.
"YOUR MAJESTY! PLEASE FORG..."
Zelda hits him on his shoulder.
She whispers something to him.
"YES! YOUR MAJESTY! I UNDERSTAND!"
"Your Highness I am relieved you are freed from the beasts control. Should we not strike the temple immediately?" asks the Fire Mage.
"I do not condone revenge, there has been enough sufferings. I had caused while being controlled." speaks Zelda.
"STILL YOUR MAJESTY, THESE BEASTS POSE A GREAT THREAT! IF THEY SHOULD SPREAD, IT WOULD BE DISASTROUS!"
"Geir what do you think?" asks the Fire Mage.
"Marketing."
Everyone says shocked.
"MARKETING!?"
Finish.
