The Fate of the First Hero of Light

"AUNT HURMIHILDA ARE YOU SURE THOSE PALMS WILL NOT BE THE END OF US?!"

"Geir it is not like you to shout." says Zelda.

She has an apple in her hand.

I shiver and look.

Slowly the apples is sinking into her palm.

I CAN HEAR IT! THOSE TEETH!

When Great Mother Hurmihilda undid the seal on Zelda's healing magics, the mouths on her hand's palms did not disappear!

"Geir my child. You do not have to worry her hands they are harmless."

I am screaming in my head, "THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM!"

I imagine having to look at those chewing hands from now on, day in and day out.

I feel weak.

"Geir what is wrong? Let me feel your temperature."

I want to run but my legs are caught between the tables legs and the stools pegs, of the small table where I am seated.

Suddenly her hand is on my forehead.

I feel her hand's teeth gnashing, the hand's tongue licks me on my forehead.

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIII!" I shriek.

My vision goes dim...

CRASH

I slowly wake, I keep my eyes tightly shut.

I will quickly glance.

If Zelda is next to me, I will run outside before those hands can touch me again.

I hear sobbing, I look to the figure it is Zelda.

"Zelda what is wrong?"

"Geir my hands, they returned back to normal!"

FINALLY! I am rejoicing in my mind.

"Great Mother is that the potion?"

"Yes, my child this will enable your hands to be permane..."

I have the potion in my hand, I jump through the back window glass shatters everywhere.

THIS I MUST STOP AT ALL COST!

I run for half a day, I dig a hole for another quarter day and with my strongest ice magics I freeze the potion and cover it with dirt.

I reach Aunt Hurmihilda's homestead.

No punishment is severe enough, as long as I never have to see those teeth, tongue and the feeling of the snot clay in my hand ever again!

There is a figure, it is Zelda she is smiling and waving at me.

"Thank you Geir for saving me!"

"Finally you can see reason Zelda those hands were just too much to bare."

"Geir what do you mean? That potion was a poison! An evil party snuck it into the Great Mother Hurmhilda's stores. Luckily you detected it!"

My knees want to give way.

"What about your hands?"

She shows me two smiling mouths on her hand's palms.

"The potion was successful they will never dissappea..."

My vision dims.

It feels as if the underworld is pulling me down.

Many times later...

"Geir know that she has learned the spell. We have to test if she is able to cast it she will have to cast the spell at least 50 times. It will take a few days. I believe at most, she can cast it 5 times per day. Unfortunately I had to seal her hands it might interfere with the dark magics."

I feel so bleak and weak, even this wonderful news I can barely rejoice.

"Aunt Hurmihilda I will need a sword, if you have one?"

"Yes, my child over there."

She points toward a box with various swords.

I expect each sword carefully, I look for a name plague, the ones with long names I reject immediately.

I do not want to experience that glass sword catastrophe again.

I never want to feel Zelda's hand's mouth snot clay ever again.

There is a greatsword it is thick and rusted, I can sharpen and polish it, it will take half a day.

After asking Aunt Hurmihilda many times if it is a magic sword, also making sure it would not break in a single strike.

Could we finally depart.

"Great Mother Hurmihilda is there a place where I can cast the spell?" asks Zelda.

"My child, a friend of mine has sent a call for help. I will send you two."

"Where is this place Aunt Hurmihilda?" I ask the Dwarven Mage.

I am shown a map leading to a village, "Rim Knob".

"Underneath the pub there is a expansive underground area, you will enter this dungeon." speaks the Dwarf.

"What is the calamity plaguing this village?" asks Zelda the Dark Mage in training.

"Zelda my child go and speak to Lepin, all will be explained."

We enter the destitute village of Rim Knob.

A scared Zelda moves very close to me. I cover her with my arm.

As we explore the village we meet the villagers.

There is a large stone building with a thatched roof.

There is a woman standing next to the door.

"The village bicycle." I ACCIDENTALLY SAY WITH MY INSIDE VOICE ALOUD!

"Oi! Yo wanna fight!?"

I am punched with force on my right side.

"Zelda quickly let us leave here for now."

I do not look towards her.

I feel icy stares coming from two directions.

We smell the village drunk, we turn the corner, then we see the village drunk.

There is a crippled boy.

When he sees us, I can almost see the rupee sign shine in his eyes. We will undoubtedly need his services for various knick-knacks or the like.

A dying man by the churches door.

Zelda moves to heal him.

I pull her back "He will survive as long as we do not talk to him. I have found many of the sort on my quests. You talk to them, then they tell you of a great evil and then expire shortly afterwards. It is best to leave him be, for now."

"Geir I am still the Queen. I have to help!"

"Zelda remember you are a Dark Mage on this journey. Also how will you heal him? Your healing magics have been sealed by Aunt Hurmihilda."

"Still Geir we cannot leave things as they are." Zelda cast a look of concern towards me.

"Very well."

I walk over to the cripple boy.

I flash him two red rupees. He produces an assortment of items, I ask for healing items.

I walk with a giant heap of various potions herbs and ointments in my arms.

"Little shit tried to rip me off."

I think to myself, but I have been a schemer all my life I bargained even the slightest bit of the rupee out of him.

We will be seeing him again soon.

We move to the dying man at the churches entrance.

A concerned Zelda is holding his hand.

I told him that she was a mute, I know what will happen if he speaks of his quest.

I drop the heap of herbs, ointments and potions on the dying man.

Zelda quickly shoves the herbs down the man's throat.

He is gagging, she washes it down the herbs with a small healing potion and a minor stamina potion.

She puts the rest of the healing reagents in the wounds of the man and rubs him with ointments.

He looks completely healed, still I know what is coming.

"Please...listen to me. We were drunk and we went under the pub to find out about... where did all the Lord's horses and men could not put together...again...now everyone is dead...killed by a demon... Avenge us! Solve this mystery, so that our souls may finally rest..."

The dying man, gives us the quest, breathes his last then dies.

Zelda is dumbfounded.

"He should have been healed. Where did I go wrong?"

"Zelda when you enter cursed villages, the normal laws of nature do not apply. Let us find Neckbeard Plainful."

We finally reached the fifth floor.

We do not see any dead tavern patrons anymore, only skeletons and the undead.

Zelda is quite the accomplished Dark Mage now.

There is a large demon in the next room...

The room is filled to the brim with gold, precious stones and other treasures.

The demon is sitting on his golden throne.

He is snarling at his minions, telling them to prepare to defend our attack.

"Zelda quick a spell!"

Zelda is weaving complex hand signs.

These are not the same that I have learned from my mother I cannot recognize any of them.

Zelda starts whispering, she points her staff towards the room.

"DREAD LEAD!"

Immediately every piece of treasure turns into lumps of lead and all the jewels into rocks.

The demon slides out of the giant piece of lead he is sitting on onto the floor.

His minions do not know how to react, before they can recover, I beat them with the cursed greatsword "Hout Plank".

"Hout Plank" means "Wooden Plank".

It is a cursed greatsword with the weight and heft of a normal greatsword.

The curse cast upon the useless piece of shit blade, gives it the same destructive power of very dense wood.

Still I kill the enemies easily.

My frustration at the circumstances I find myself in fueling my rage.

The swollen blue and black corpse of the demon drops onto the floor.

The room is now only filled with lead and rocks.

"GEIR!" Zelda screams looking panicked.

"ZELDA! What is wrong?! Is there an enemy?"

"No, we forgot to ask him about the riddle!"

ANCIENT ANCESTORS! Now we have to solve the dying man's request as well!

"Zelda should we return? You have casted the spell five times, have you not?"

"Yes, Geir let us leave for today."

"Zelda I still cannot sense when you cast it. You cannot disclose anything about the spells function?"

I look at Zelda I see her mouth is being restrained by magical means.

It is to protect the hidden knowledge. She cannot tell anyone of it.

"Zelda I will not ask again, I apologize."

"Thank you Geir."

We start ascending through the expansive ancient storage space built beneath the pub.

The true function of this underground structure has been lost to time.

We can smell stale ale and hear drunkards swearing and fighting.

We are at the third floor.

The undead on this floor are painfully trying to move.

I have beaten them so badly with "Hout Plank" each time we descend.

I think they wish, they could stay dead.

"How many days still Zelda?" I ask Zelda.

"I have cast it 40 times already. I only need two days more. Why do you ask?"

"There is a great evil controlling this area, we will defeat it tomorrow."

"GREAT EVIL! WHAT DO YOU MEAN?"

"Zelda you have not spoken to the inhabitants of Rim Knob?"

"No, Geir I have not is there something amiss?"

"The villagers start saying the same sentences over and over again. They are being controlled."

"Sometimes if you have nothing left to say. Do you not repeat yourself by mistake Geir?" asks a perplexed Zelda.

"That is correct Zelda but I have spoken to Brisnold the smith for four days. He keeps on saying the exact same thing over and over again."

"Geir we should leave this place very soon, I am scared."

"Zelda do not be alarmed I will protect you."

We enter our room at the pub.

Zelda climbs into the straw bed, she is almost immediately asleep.

I will guard the door and room.

The next morning...

I talk to the little boy, I can see he is panicked when he sees me.

He is the only one not being controlled.

He fears being discovered.

When I look at his legs, they do not seem to be broken or limp.

I order the various potions and herbs needed for our days quest.

I give him a rupee, I apologize and put it back into my parka.

I produce many and hand them to him, they fall from his hand.

They lay scattered on the ground.

I have been carving messages into them.

He desperately acts as if he misplaced his rupees.

He reads the rupee with the message on it.

He signals, winking his eyes in the pattern we agreed upon.

"The 50th floor."

The boy starts crying, his eyes are open wide and he runs away.

I stand and turn around all the villagers are here.

Where is Zelda?

Finish.
