CHAPTER 1: This is your Captain Speaking

JOHN'S POV

"Reach 510 heavy, descend to 3000, reduce speed to 210 knots and contact Marshall Tower on 119.95."

"Descend to 3000 feet reducing to 210 and 119.95 Reach 510 heavy good day."

My name's John Dunn, and I've been an active member of the Air Force now for just under 10 years and I'm living the dream. Being a pilot has always been an ambition of mine since I was a kid. Hell, I was practically born to fly. My dad is a retired fighter pilot who fought in the Gulf War and his dad (my grandad) fought in Vietnam himself. So the military has been in the family for quite a while now and doesn't show signs of stopping. Born in Dallas Texas, my family has always been supportive of the US Air Force so that's a nice little bonus if I say so. But I digress, let's follow along this flight.

"Marshall tower, this is Reach 510 heavy. Passing through 4000 feet for 3000." Contacting the tower was my co-pilot who's been my wing man now for just over 5 years is Richard Clarkson.

We first met on a flight back in 2014 when I was still based in Afghanistan. Ever since we have been flying together even after my temporary medical discharge and my relocation to Joint Base Marshall in 2015.

"Reach 510 heavy roger. Caution terrain on your 3 oclock, turn right heading of 090, advise when you have the runway in sight." Tower responds back.

"Roger that, turn right heading 090 report runway in sight and watching terrain Reach 510 heavy." Clarkson says.

As we were finishing the before landing checklist, we just happened to be flying above the Jade Palace, located right in the middle of the Valley Of Peace. One of the flight engineers, Heather Steele, a childhood friend of mine and someone who I have flown with for 8 years now casually charms in.

"Hmm, wonder how Viper's doing down there?"

"Probably training with the rest of the 5, like usual." I respond.

Master Viper's been a friend of mine pretty much since I first arrived in China. Me along with my sisters were visiting the village neighboring the base of the mountain on a day off. I was in one of the shops when she bumped into me. We just started talking, introduced her to my sisters and from that point on she's been a great friend and even became a friend of the family.

I then decided to have a little fun with the loadmasters in the back of the C5M Super Galaxy that we were flying.

"CSH, Ladies and gentlemen of the flightdeck this is your captain speaking. If you all look over to the right side of the aircraft you will be able to get a good glimpse of the Furious 5's home; The Jade Palace. Constructed centuries ago, the palace homes the greatest masters of kung fu in all of China, mess with them and well it's game over for you." A small chuckle is let out by me and the guys in the cockpit as we start our final approach into Marshall.

Joint Base Marshall had been around for just over 6 years now. It's the first US Military base in the world to house 4 branches of the military; the Armed Forces, the Air Force, Navy and the Coast Guard. This is the first base to be built on Chinese soil. This was done thanks to the peace treaty signed by the US and China 8 months after China and Taiwan reformed as one country back in 2009. Myself along with my 2 younger twins Kate and Lilly, their husbands Humphrey and Garth and our childhood friends Hutch his wife Heather (yes the same as my flight engineer) have been living in the residing town of Marshall since 2015.

Meanwhile

THIRD PERSON

A red panda named Master Shifu is currently sitting peacefully on the palace grounds enjoying the nice warm weather playing his flute when his ears catch the sound of something flying overhead. Since the palace is located on the summit of a mountain which peaks at 2500ft and 30 miles south of Joint Base Marshall, it's become a common sight for big jets to fly over the palace grounds.

'Sure is a good day for flying.' Shifu thought to himself.

However, while looking at the plane flying overhead, he becomes oblivious to 5 individuals preparing a surprise attack on him. Well at least they thought he was. They begin their assault but Shifu manages to fight back for a mere 5 seconds until he is surrounded by his attackers. Those attackers hold their ground until Shifu acknowledges the assault.

"Well done students, if you were trying to disappoint me: Tigress, more ferocity. Monkey greater speed, Crane, height. Viper subtlety, Mant-" (A/N, yes i paraphrased sue me)

"Master shifu?"

"WHAT?!" Shifu frustratingly points his flute towards one of the workers of the palace.

"It's M-M-Master Oogway, he wants to see you."

"Very well then. Students, you may resume your training."

"YES MASTER" The 5 reply back

A/N. First chapter complete. Yes i did go a bit heavy on the military thing but like I mentioned before it won't be in any major plot point of the story. It's only there to show to help show John's life in a way.
