Chapter 2: Darkness on the Horizon

Master Shifu runs over to the Hall of Heroes to meet up with Grand Master Oogway who waits patiently inside the hall meditating on his staff.

"Master Oogway, you've summoned me. Is something wrong?" Shifu asks.

"Now why would something be wrong if I wanted to see my old friend." The Grand Master replies.

"So, nothing's wrong?"

"Well I didn't say that." The tortoise replies. He proceeds to blow out some candles that surround the little pond. Shifu being rather impatient decides to "help" out his master by blowing the rest of candles out by sending a gust of wind from his dual palm strike. (How else do I describe that move he does in the movie? XD).

"You were saying." Shifu says wanting Oogway to spill the beans.

"I have had a vision...Tai Lung will return."

Shifu goes wide eyed as visions of his former student causing havoc goes through his mind.

"But that's impossible, he's in prison!" Shifu shouts shocked by hearing his master utter the words he never thought he would hear.

"Nothing is impossible."

Mortified by what he heard he calls for the same worker who went to see him earlier.

"Zeng! Fly to Chorh Gom prison. Tell them to double the guards, double the weapons, double everything. Tai Lung shall not leave that prison!" Shifu commands the duck.

"Yes Master Shifu" The duck responds as he flies off to the prison.

"Master, we need to do something and fast. We can't let him come back into the valley and take his revenge. Think of how bad it was 20 years ago-"

"Your mind is agitated, just like the water in this pond, it is quite difficult to see. But if you allow it to settle my friend, the answer becomes clear." Oogway says as he taps his staff onto the aforementioned pond. Doing so the ripples and flower petals vacate by the ring formed from the staff's touch and thus revealing the dragon artifact but more importantly the scroll that is located in the mouth.

Master Shifu looks up and notices what Oogway is trying to say.

"The Dragon Scroll?" He asks

"It is time."

"But who master, who is the one worthy enough to unlock the secret to limitless power and to take on the responsibility to become the Dragon Warrior?"

"I don't know?"

Master Shifu is puzzled (and can you blame him?) by Oogway's rather bizarre response.

"However, I think I know what we need to do in order for me to make my decision."

"And what would that be, Master?" Shifu asks.

"Why have a friendly competition to see who is truly worthy of being the Dragon Warrior."

"I see. Shall I start organizing the workers to prepare for the ceremony?"

"That would indeed be needed my friend. Considering the villagers will be invited to the palace and watch your students compete for the scroll." Oogway answers.

"Right then, I will have a word with the 5 as well as the workers to get everything ready for...when do we want to have the ceremony?" Shifu asks

Oogway thinks for a brief minute before finally coming up with the day.

"I think it would be best to have it in 5 days, that way your students will have plenty of time to work on any final improvements that they would like to work on."

"Yes Master. Is there anything else you need before I go brief the 5?"

"Actually yes there is."

"What would that be?" Shifu asks

"I believe Master Viper has a few friends who happen to be well known in the village for their ways of 'putting on a show.' Have a talk with her and see what she thinks."

Shifu gives a rather curious look before bowing to his master and leaves him be.

He then heads over to the training hall to give the Furious 5 the news.

"SNAP!" Shifu snaps his finger causing the 5 to stop in their tracks and go see their master.

"Students, I have some rather important news. Master Oogway and I have had a talk and the subject of the Dragon Warrior has been brought up."

This causes Master Tigress' ears to perk up. She was the more experienced member of the 5 and had been under Shifu's wing since she was a little cub.

"We have decided that with all of your abilities being worked on now for years, we will be having a ceremony and tournament to see out of the 5 of you, who will be worthy of being crowned Dragon Warrior."

The students give a round of cheers and applause for their work being paid off.

"When will this all be taking place master?" Tigress asks

"We decided to have the ceremony in 5 days, that way it will give you all enough time to work on any minor issues you need to fix. With that said training is done for today. Oh and Master Viper, I would like to have a word with you."

"Yes Master." The snake replies.

Following Shifu out of the training hall and into the dining/resting hall.

"What is it Master?"

"Well, while I was having my conversation with Master Oogway, he brought up your name."

"Ok. What was it about me that he spoke about." Viper asks.

"He mentioned you having some friends that 'know how to put on a show.' Care to further elaborate on what he means."

Viper was at first a bit confused but then realised what he meant and remembered a group of friends she has who happen to be musicians in a cover band who have performed in the village now for 5 years.

"Oh of course I do. He's talking about my friend's band. That would be perfect Master considering they are not only well known in the village for 5 years but they really are able to put on a show. Believe me."

Shifu delighted in her response gives a rather satisfied grin upon hearing what Viper said.

"Excellent Viper. However, how do we get in contact with them?"

"Oh don't worry Master. I've got it all covered. As a matter of fact, I might even be able to see one of them in person potentially tomorrow." Viper answers.

"Very well then I shall leave you to it."

"Yes Master, and once I get to talk to him, I will let you know what he says."

"Thank you Viper. Carry on."

With that the two part ways. Shifu heads off to go meditate whilst Viper heads off to her room to write a letter to her friend. A couple minutes later she leaves her room once again and hands off the letter to one of the staff workers.

"Ah Master Viper, how can I help you?"

"Hello Dai, I need you to send this letter to this address please. If possible could you do it now if you aren't busy. The destination isn't far."

"Of course Master Viper. What is the destination?" The worker asks

"316 Main Street, in the military town of Marshall. Just fly North and you will see the control tower."

"Roger that, I'm on my way now."

"Thanks Dai I really appreciate it."

The duck flies off letter in hand off to the town of Marshall.

'I hope you get this letter John, but knowing you I'm sure you will.' Viper thought as she headed back to regroup with the others.

And chapter 2 is in the books. Probably one of the only times I will be focusing on a scene from the movie word for word since I want to make this story as original as possible whilst following elements of the movie. Hopefully you enjoyed it and stay tuned.
