Cloud watched as the Leviathan emerged. That was when he felt the presence. This time it wasn't just his imagination. He turned towards the direction. Beside him Ignis took notice of his behavior.
"Cloud?"
"He's here!" Not bothering to wait for them to respond Cloud bolted. He was beginning to have flashbacks when Sephiroth stabbed Aerith. He feared he would do the same with Lunafreya.
Cloud took a path that brought him close to the Leviathan. Suddenly she turned to him and he forced himself to skid to a halt when she sent a wave at him. The blonde swordsman looked up at her huge eye staring him down.
"Begone, Destroyer of Worlds. It would give me great pleasure to see you drown with the rest of these humans who have forgotten me."
Cloud was frozen in his spot. He didn't know how he could understand her. His ears heard deep rumbles that echoed like he was underwater. Yet in his mind he could hear her words loud and clear.
"The prince has come to - " Sensing that he was in danger Lunafreya drew the Leviathan's attention. Her response was instant and met with cold fury.
The distraction worked, but Cloud couldn't move when he turned his attention to the princess. Behind her Ardyn appeared. In a blink of an eye he pulled out a dagger and struck her side. Infuriated of this action Leviathan began her destruction of sinking Altissa.
Cloud tried to find a means to get to her when suddenly a wave crashed down on top of him. He grabbed hold of the nearest solid object he could and held on. The water was cold and swirled in every which direction.
Suddenly she found him. Leviathan pushed with her head and suddenly the rail broke into pieces and he was being sent flying into the air. Cloud gasped for breath and frantically searched for a means to escape, one hand desperately searching for his sword. He inwardly cursed when he felt nothing. His weapon was left at the hotel because his sword would have drawn unwanted attention.
She twisted to swallow his body whole and time slowed.
"Se...!" Cloud couldn't bring himself to say the rest of the name.
Behind the beast Noctis took aim with his new power. Leviathan twisted to fend him off. Cloud plunged into the waters. He felt weightless, body numb. Even though he wanted to succumb to sleep Cloud forced his arms to move and kicked with his legs. His vision blurred until he finally broke the surface.
A wave sent him back onto the streets. Cloud rolled with the water until the railing stopped him. He coughed out salt water and felt like he was going to vomit. Weakly he pushed himself upright. He glanced around searching.
She was still alive.
Cloud made one step to make his way to her when suddenly the Leviathan whipped her tail straight towards him. He changed direction and bolted away as fast as possible. The water made him slip and he slid just seconds out of reach from her attack.
However waves from her attacks grew and spread further. Before Cloud could recover back on his feet a wave pulled him into the channel. This time around he could feel her forcing the water to keep him down no matter how hard he tried to break the surface.
His body grew heavier. Vision going black as he felt water invading through his nose and mouth. Just as he felt that he would finally meet the end a pair of arms grabbed him and pulled him out.
"It's not yet your time." Sephiroth's voice murmured, placing him on the street before disappearing. Footsteps approached.
"Cloud? Cloud! Stay with me!"
"I'll take him. Lead everyone to safety!"
He could hear them. But he couldn't respond. He couldn't move. He couldn't wake up. Prompto handed him over to Gladio. The swordsman pulled him up and over his shoulder. As they ran and organized the people to evacuate Cloud knew no more.
He dreamed. He stood on a rock in the middle of space. The lights of planets, moons and suns glittered all around. Galaxies spread around in a rainbow of colors.
"You don't remember, do you? Is it because you refuse to admit what you did? Or was the pain too great for your mind to handle?"
Cloud turned to Sephiroth.
"Is this a dream?" The blonde asked, watching him warily.
"Does it matter? No. You're more curious about what the Leviathan called you. Destroyer of Worlds." Sephiroth slowly paced around.
"Stop beating around the bush and tell me." Cloud glared, ready to fight him to get it out. Suddenly Sephiroth was behind him, leaning in to whisper.
"I don't have to do anything. All you have to do is remember."
"Remember what?" His voice was shaking.
"Remember what caused the destruction of our dying planet."
"What are you implying? It was you! You did it!" Cloud heard laughter at his panic. He turned around to punch him in the face, but all he met was air. Sephiroth was gone. In his place was a black feather floating slowly to the ground.
Suddenly he felt like he was falling. And he was. Cloud awoke in a panic as he fell off the bed screaming. Footsteps came to his aid and Cloud looked up with watery eyes. He was crying?
"You okay, buddy?" Prompto knelt down in front of him.
Choking on words Cloud shook his head.
