Gwen woke up, still feeling groggy. Rhys was already out of bed. She went to brush her teeth. When she came out, she followed the smell of pancakes. Rhys hadn't gone anywhere then. She had been hoping that they could have a lazy Sunday together, as lazy as it could get with a child around anyway.
Anwen and Rhys were at the stove in the kitchen. "Gwen." Rhys waved to her with a spatula. "I'm showing her how to make breakfast."
"Happy Mother's Day," Anwen said.
Mother's Day. Gwen had completely forgotten. "Thank you dear. Need any help?"
"We can handle it," Rhys said. "Just sit down and relax."
Gwen sat down at the kitchen table. Watching them turn back to cooking brought a smile to her face.
