He'd thought Kurt was joking when he pulled him into the closet in the hallway after the show, but he certainly wasn't, and he didn't disappoint. When they exited the small, dark room after their short romp, Blaine weak in the knees from Kurt's amazing mouth and all the places it had been, they came face to face with David, who had apparently been looking for Kurt. He didn't even break stride when he told Kurt everything had been a rousing success and congratulated him profusely, clapping him on the back so many times that Blaine was fearful for Kurt's lungs. He had no doubts about that, though…of course the show was a success. Kurt was innovative, he was talented and he was such a perfectionist. The only way anything made it into a Kurt Hummel show was if it was perfect, and today was the proof. David was thrilled beyond measure, and so was Kurt.
By the time they reached their home, they were tired, hungry and maybe even ready for round two. They were met at the door of the apartment with a huge gift basket. It was bright red with lots of tissue paper hiding the contents and that noisy sheet of cellophane wrapped around the whole thing so that they couldn't see what was inside. The card taped to the outside read only: Enjoy.
That was it. Kurt hoped there was more info on the inside. They dragged it in the house and set it on the kitchen table as they shed their suit jackets and hung them across the backs of the barstools at the counter.
"So, in the grand scheme of things, are you ok with how things went today?" Blaine asked.
"I am…I very much am. And I don't know how in the world I'll ever be able to thank you enough for what you did, Blaine. I'm serious, don't look at me like that. You have no idea how much I was sinking in to complete and utter panic, and you just…you swooped in and picked me up and set me back on solid ground. I'm forever grateful, and I just love you so much…" Kurt said, his eyes misting over.
"I know you were panicking, Kurt. I immediately felt like I'd let you down, though, you know? I was supposed to be watching for just that, and somehow, someway, she got around me and tried to ruin things anyway. I can't imagine…I mean, the nerve! What in the world did she think she had to gain by doing it, that's what I don't understand?"
"You didn't let me down, Blaine. Never…you never could. I know you. I know everything you do is for us…and I'm just…I'm grateful. Truly…you saved the day, and without you, it would have been a nightmare. So how can I thank you?" Kurt said, teasing in his voice.
"Oh, well, I'm sure we can think of something. But you know what? You, my love, look positively worn out, and for tonight, I think we should just take it easy, cuddle up and relax." Blaine suggested.
"I can't argue with that. I really can't. I'm beat. It's been one helluva long day."
"It has…and you've earned the right to just relax. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't totally curious about this big basket and what's inside." Blaine grinned, edging over toward it. Kurt did the same and began unwrapping it slowly as if something would jump out at him. The further into it he got, the more his face burned red with mortification.
There was, indeed, another card inside, but it was left unsigned. There was no doubt, however, who it was from.
Hummel, I didn't believe you when you said you didn't have "those kinds of things" in your toy drawer, so when you left this morning, I felt compelled to check it out. Seriously lacking, Kurt. Seriously. Congrats on your show, because it was amazing and you, somehow, made Hunter look even sexier than he usually is. With many thanks for making my fiancé a happy man, and my compliments to the designer…enjoy.
Inside was every sex toy Kurt could possibly imagine…every size, every color, every width and length and….God, Kurt was 18 shades of scarlet and Blaine was struck dumb. There were tubes upon tubes of lube in every flavor and color imaginable.
"I'm going to kill him…." was all that Kurt was able to articulate.
Lunch with Cris the following afternoon was the plan, apparently. Cooper called Blaine around 10 a.m. to let him know they'd be picking him up. Nick sent a car, as they'd be leaving lunch and going to look at the property Cris was considering. He didn't join Cris and her sons, but told them he'd see them at the condo around 1:30 when they were finished.
Blaine dressed casually, even though he really wanted to put the suit on again. Anything Kurt made was instantly his favorite thing, and he was dying to show it off, but it was too much for lunch. Another time, he thought.
The restaurant was cozy and not too crowded for a Saturday. They were seated around a table for four, and Cris used the fourth chair for her purse. Orders were taken and they sat there chatting, but Blaine felt that there was something big going on…he just wasn't sure what it was.
"So how was Kurt last night when you got home? I'm sure he was just thrilled with the show?" Cris asked.
"He was. He was…worn out because of the long day, but he was ecstatic, for sure." Blaine smiled. "I'm forever impressed by him, and sometimes I wonder if I deserve him. He's so on top of things…" he trailed off, thinking of Kurt and how he'd changed since first coming to New York.
"You complete each other, love, anyone can see that. Just like Cooper and Maggie…." She said, eyeing her boys. "Which brings me to it, doesn't it?" She smiled. She reached into her purse and pulled something out, but it was hidden in her hand and neither man knew what she held. "I can see that it's time." Cris smiled. "I know…I know young men and women nowadays aren't always keen on…things…older things, which have been passed down, but I want you to have the option. In the grand scheme of things, your grandparents were pretty progressive and hip…" she laughed, "and I hope maybe someday you'll get some use out of these, even if it's not for the purpose they were originally used…but I still have hope. Your grandparents were married for 57 years, boys. They lived and loved together for 57 years before I lost my mother, and it nearly killed your granddad when she was taken from us. We all knew it wouldn't be long before he'd join her, and it was such a shock anyway, wasn't it?" Cris said, pausing, taking her time then wiping away a tear. "Anyway!" She said brightly. "I brought these along with me this time because if I'm not mistaken, I believe Cooper has some things working around in his little brain-"
"Hey! It's not little!" Cooper whined.
"Be that as it may…" Cris said, setting a small box in front of Cooper and another in front of Blaine. "These belonged to your grandparents…my parents…and with their deaths, they were passed to me as the only child. I'd like for you to have them, and if…when…you decide you're ready to spend your life with the woman or man who makes your heart beat a little faster, your head feel light and your belly fill with butterflies, then you feel free to give these as a token of your love to him or her." She said with a pleased smile.
"Mamaw's ring…" Cooper breathed out, in awe, because honestly, he'd never seen such a ring other than the one she wore on her finger religiously until the day she died. "But Mom…." He began, but lost his words. Cris just smiled.
"It was her wish for you to have it. And for you, Blaine, to have your grandfather's ring as well. She made it very clear. They're platinum, you know. Very progressive for their time…nobody had platinum back then, but you know your grandfather…nobody would tell him otherwise. He wanted it, and he was certain it was the best, so that's what Mamaw got." She grinned.
Blaine, for his part, was stunned. The band he held was, indeed, platinum with inset diamonds that sparkled and twinkled at him under the light hung above their table. He didn't know what to say. All that came out was "Mom?" in a breathy whisper. Cris just nodded.
"Blaine…nobody knows you better than I do, except perhaps, Kurt now. I know it's just a matter of time. I can tell by the way you look at him, and in turn, in the way he looks at you . If you think it's something he'd appreciate, then by all means, offer it to him. Your grandfather would be proud to have him wear it. He loved you dearly, Blaine, and you know this as well as I do."
Blaine's heart was pounding. In his hand he held his grandfather's wedding band, a ring he'd admired as much for its beauty as he did for what it stood for. He was so proud of it…so proud that his mother trusted him with it, that he couldn't find the words to express it. Cooper seemed to be in the same state, which was odd for everyone. Cooper was never at a loss for words, especially witty words. But there was nothing witty or comical about the face he wore. This was something serious, and he knew it.
"You like her, Mom? I mean, it's not a deal breaker, because I love her, and nobody and nothing is going to convince me that she's not meant to be mine. But it will ease my mind to know that you approve…of her…of us." Cooper asked, his heart in his eyes.
"I adore her, Coop. I know we've just met, she and I, but we talk on the phone and we email and she convinced me that I should put my face in the book and whatnot, so we communicate just fine I think." Cris smiled.
"Put your face….what?" Cooper asked, confused.
"Maggie convinced you to get a Facebook account?!" Blaine asked, laughing.
"She did! She said this way she could send me pictures of the children and I can see what she's saying and we can chat about things! It's so exciting!" Cris told them. She was nothing if not enthusiastic about something new.
"Oh my God…never in a million years…" Coop breathed out, snickering. "Don't friend request me!" He laughed.
"What? Why not?" Cris asked, sounding put out and hurt.
"I have some things to clean up before you can be anywhere near that!"
"Oh, I just bet you do, buddy…" Blaine said, giving him the side eye. "But seriously, Mom. Thank you. For this…thank you. When the time is right, I would be absolutely honored to be able to give this ring to Kurt, and I'm sure he'd love it."
"I agree…I don't care how old it is, It's still the most beautiful thing I've ever seen." Cooper added.
"So this is it…" Nick said, leading them into the living area of the condo.
Cris walked to the windows immediately, loving the view of the park and the skyline around her. She was already sure, and this was just a formality for her. She loved it, and now she'd be closer to her boys and far from her abusive husband…almost ex-husband. She'd be very glad to be away from him when those papers were presented to him. He was bound to be as angry as a hornet.
"Mom, this is amazing!" Blaine commented from behind her, having walked the rest of the space on his own.
"I agree, I'll be visiting quite often!" Cooper laughed, walking up to stand beside her at the windows. "Are you sure this is what you want? Moving to the big city and all that?"
"I think it is, yes. I've never been so excited about anything! I want to be near my boys, and I know you both enjoy it here so much. And it seems my little family is bound to get bigger sooner or later…hopefully sooner, rather than later." She said, turning to raise an eyebrow to both of her sons. Nick gave Blaine the wide eyes and Blaine blushed and shrugged.
"Did you want to look around a little bit, Cris, or-" Nick began.
"I do, yes, but you may as well get started on your phone calls and your paperwork. I'll take it. Don't counter, just give them what they want. As you've told me, this is a great deal on a solid investment and I don't want to mess around and have someone steal it out from under me. Let's get the ball rolling, Nicholas!" Cris said, obviously excited. "The only stipulation I have is that I need immediate occupancy. None of this 60 day stuff. I want to move and I want to do it soon. The sooner I get away from Ohio and what's there, the better. Their father will be receiving divorce papers soon and I don't want to be around when that happens. He'll likely flip his lid."
"I'm sure that's the understatement of the year…." Cooper trailed off.
"If you're absolutely sure, I'll get on it." Nick smiled. "As it's empty and been so for a while, I'm sure there won't be a problem with immediate occupancy."
"Wonderful. I need an address to ship my new furniture to!" Cris said excitedly.
"That's everything! Atlantic City, here we come!" Maggie smiled, Sunday morning, as they shoved the last bag into the trunk of the car they'd rented. Granted, Cooper had a car, but it was a sporty little thing, and there was no way all four of them would fit with all the luggage. They settled in for the drive as he reached across the console and took Maggie's hand.
"You guys ready to go have some fun?!" He asked enthusiastically.
"Yeah!" Mattie yelled.
"I can't wait!" Evee chimed in.
"Mom says they have race cars that are my size!" Mattie said, excitedly.
"They do, man ,they do!" Cooper laughed. "We're gonna race everyone and kick their butts! Especially your mom and Evee." He stage whispered. The girls rolled their eyes.
"Whatever, Cooper, we'll see. Care to put your money where your mouth is?" Maggie asked.
"A friendly wager?"
"I dunno about friendly." Maggie said, giving him the side eye. "I guess we can be friendly, but not as long as you're talkin' smack!" She laughed.
"I think we can manage friendly, although my little man here and I are gonna wipe up the floor with you guys….until it's time for mini golf, and then Evee and I are gonna kick some butt at that…."
"Well aren't YOU just kickin' butts all over the place?" Maggie said, shoving Cooper in the side and making him flinch away, grinning.
"I don't do anything half as-…erm….by half measures!" He laughed.
"Oh, honey, I know you don't…believe me." She answered, softly, giving him a flirty glance. "Now shut up and drive. I wanna get there sometime today!"
"Yes ma'am!" Coop said, then leaned in and kissed her cheek.
"I don't wanna go back." Blaine whined.
"You do this every time. This is the last time. The next time you come home, you stay…with me." Kurt smiled, then leaned in to kiss his lips once more.
"I'm still living out of a bag. We'll need to get my clothes…what I left next door. So much to do…." Blaine said, as he threw everything back in his duffel bag to head back to Westindale. "Just two more weeks, though, right?"
"Mhmm…."
"Then it's just you and me…all day, all night, all the time." Blaine grinned, sending him a flirty glance.
"And I'm looking very forward to it. I have a lot to get done in the next two weeks!"
"Oh, have you heard from Nick? I think he's going to call you to help him with something…maybe. We'll see."
"Yeah? He wants something designed?"
"No…something for Jeff's birthday, I think. If you're up for it." Blaine said.
"If it's for Jeff, I'm up for it. Without him, these past few months, I don't know where I'd have been. Anything I can do for him, I certainly will!"
"I knew that…told him as much. He'll probably call. Ok, that's it. I should get going." Blaine moped. "I'll call you the minute I get back. The good thing is, I won't have Eli hitting on me now!"
"It's a very good thing. I don't mind telling you how very hard it was for me to send you back there knowing he'd be there waiting. Two weeks, babe." Kurt said, kissing him long and hard. "Be safe, I love you…God…so much, Blaine."
"Love you, too, baby."
Kurt Hummel thrived on his ability to handle situations like this, but he felt like he was drowning. David was talking and all Kurt heard was the sound of rushing water in his ears. He was overwhelmed and he didn't know what to do with it. The show was a success, there were people calling, some just stopping by, articles in the paper, online, blogs mentioning him…and he was awestruck. Jeff just laughed at him.
"I don't know why you're standing there looking like a birdhouse, Kurt. Close your mouth. Your stuff's amazing, we've discussed this!" Jeff laughed harder. Kurt's expression was one of complete and utter shock when he read the morning paper. There were even a few photos, one of them Hunter's suit, of which he was immensely proud. Hunter looked like a million bucks and he wondered if Sebastian had seen it yet.
"I'm just….just a little… Jeff, I'm not used to this! I spent my whole life trying to fade into the background, to fit in, to not be noticed, and now this! My dad called this morning saying he overheard someone in the coffee shop downstairs from their hotel talking and my name rang out during the conversation. He said he almost walked up to them just to listen to what they were saying, but he was certain it was positive. I'm just rather shocked, that's all." Kurt told him.
"Well, you shouldn't be. If anyone should be shocked, it's the public. You're young, you're talented, you haven't even finished school yet, but you've come up with a line of looks that sets you apart from anyone else currently, and every damn thing you touch seems to fit like a glove. You have a gift…enjoy it! Ride it out, Kurt, because all too soon, some other upstart is going to come 'round the bend and it could be over. Do what you do, impress the right people, be yourself…you'll go far, man. I'm so proud of you." He finished.
"Thank you….thank you, Jeff. For everything. I can't tell you how much your help meant to me. I'd sit there and wonder if I'd ever finish, some days. You were always supportive, you helped when I needed you and you backed off when you knew I needed my space. Your views and opinions of what I was designing were always spot on, and you never sugar coated anything just to appease me. You're exactly what I needed, and I couldn't be happier with us…with this arrangement. I hope you're happy with it, too?"
Jeff smiled, happy for his friend, and thrilled to be connected with the venture in any way. He was struggling, though. How could he tell Kurt that even though he really enjoyed helping him out, it wasn't where his heart was? He'd been over it a million times in his head, and every time he came to the conclusion that Kurt would understand. Kurt would want him to do what his heart desired and not settle. He'd eventually have the wherewithal to just tell him, but for now it wasn't imperative. For now, they just needed to ride the wave of publicity that was banging down the door.
"So let's see, we've kicked your butt in mini golf, we've kicked your butt on the go carts, we've been to the beach, the boardwalk, the Ripley's museum….and that's all in two days. We have 5 days left, what else can we pummel you with?" Cooper teased Maggie.
"Ahahaha, you're SO funny, Cooper. You cheated at mini golf, you ran me off the track with the go carts and you scared the hell out of me in the museum when you hid behind that wax statue. Not cool, Coop!" She said with a raised eyebrow and a smirk. "I'm surprised you didn't try to drown me at the beach!" She grinned and rolled her eyes.
"Hurry up, you guys, the movie's gonna start!" Evee yelled from the living room of the suite. She and Mattie were huddled up in the middle of the sofa with the big bowl of popcorn making Coop sit on one side of the couch and Maggie way down on the other end. They plopped down, got comfy, grabbed the long blanket from the closet and snuggled in to watch Frozen for the 400th time.
"Crap!" Maggie hissed. "I forgot to get a drink!"
"I'll share, don't get up." Cooper assured her.
They sat, watching the previews on the disk, singing along to the first song before Cooper realized Maggie had the bowl of popcorn at the other end. He grinned and leaned over to Mattie and said "Ask your mom for the popcorn…." Mattie leaned to Evee and said "Coop wants the popcorn." Then Evee leaned in and said to her mom, "Coop wants the popcorn…" And so it went, all evening, sometimes not ending with the right message at all.
"Ask Coop for his drink."
"Mom wants Coop's drink."
"Mom wants Coop's what?" Mattie said, eyebrows furrowed.
"DRINK!" Maggie nearly yelled, blushing. "Oh my God…" she whispered.
"Cooper wants the bowl…"
"Coop wants the bowl…"
"Mom said you're hogging the blanket." Mattie whispered hotly in his ear, his little face pressed up close as if it was a secret. Coop grinned.
"Your mom's a blanket hog."
"Coop says mom's a blanket hog."
"Coop said you're a blanket hog…"
"I am not…"
"She is not…"
"She's not, Coop."
"She is, but I put up with it because I love her desperately." Coop whispered in Mattie's ear. He immediately turned to relay the message to Evee.
"He loves her desperately."
"He loves you desperately…."
"I love him back…"
"She loves him back…"
"She loves you back."
"Enough to marry me?" Coop asked the young boy. Mattie's eyes were wide now, just staring at him, and he was clearly affected. Coop just nodded down the line.
"E-Enough to…to marry him?" Mattie whispered to Evee, who immediately turned to look at Cooper in surprise. Had she misunderstood? Coop just nodded to an oblivious Maggie. Evee turned to her and raised up on her knees to whisper in her mom's ear while Cooper stared hard at the television.
"Mama…e-enough to um….enough to marry him?" She said, her little voice shaking.
Maggie's head snapped to the side to look at Cooper, who wouldn't make eye contact with her. Had she misunderstood? Had the kids misunderstood? How should she reply? She thought about it for a few minutes, biting her lip and unsure while Cooper sweat through his thin shirt at the other end. In the end, she figured a simple answer was best, especially if the kids had misunderstood. She leaned down to whisper in Evee's ear.
"Yep."
"She said yep."
"She…Cooper, she said yep!" Mattie whispered back in his ear excitedly. He was vibrating with glee now.
Coop set the ring box in the popcorn bowl and handed it to Mattie, who turned and gave it to Evee, who then passed it to Maggie without even looking. When Maggie looked down and saw the box in the bowl, she dropped it all over the sofa, fishing out the box before it hit the ground and staring hard at Cooper.
"C-Cooper?" She stuttered. He just smiled. "COOPER!" She said again with more intent behind it.
He got up then, walked over in front of her and got down on one knee. He took the box from her shaking hands and opened it up for her to see and she gasped, which is exactly what he thought would happen. It was a truly stunning ring, after all.
"Maggie….I've been thinking about us…and—" but that's all he got out. Maggie tackled him to the ground in a fit of tears and laughter shouting "Yes! Yes! A thousand times, yes! I love you so much!" Then the kids piled on, and Mattie struggled to get between his mom and Cooper, tears running down his little face as he tried to keep up his 5 year old bravado.
"You'll be my dad…my dad…." He sobbed.
It was, pretty much, the very best moment of Cooper Anderson's entire life.
Nick: You busy?
Blaine: Nope, having lunch, what's up?
Nick: Do you have access to your email? I have pictures to send you. It's just about done, Blaine. Looks damn nice, too. Kyle has questions, though.
Blaine: Sure, I can log in. Hit me.
Blaine waited, then refreshed and a new email popped up. When he clicked it and saw that he had an email from Nick he was super excited. All the attachments were there as well, and as he clicked through, one by one, he was thrilled to the point of dancing on his chair in the lunchroom.
There, in living color, was his new home…his and Kurt's new home. He just hoped Kurt loved it. All the furniture had come in except for one piece. Every paint color was carefully matched and rolled on. The linens Kurt had picked "as an afterthought" were in place. It was splendid, and Blaine was so proud to call it his own.
Blaine: God, Nick, it's perfect!
Nick: I thought you'd love it. I kinda love it myself. He's good…Kurt is…with the colors and the furniture and all that. I wasn't sure what to expect, but he's good, I'll give him that! So when are you home? When can you show him?
Blaine: Next Friday. Today, tomorrow, then all of next week and I'll be homeFriday. Why?
Nick: Kyle has some lumber left over. He wants to know how you feel about doing something to the roof to make it more accessible…usable…user friendly.
Blaine: How much is that going to cost me?
Nick: He says around $500. The majority of the supplies are here for what he wants to do, it's just the labor.
Blaine: Ok…did he give you an idea of what he's doing?
Nick: He did, showed me plans, and it's nice, man. Really nice. I think you should have a surprise or two, though, as well. Trust me on this one.
Blaine: Trusting you, but it better be nice…LOL
Nick: I have faith that it'll turn out really well.
Blaine: Tell him to go ahead with it, and thank him for me. I'm dying to see what Kurt thinks! 8 days and I'll be home for good!
"Kurt…what in the world are you still doing here?" David asked. It was 10 pm on Friday night and he'd stopped into the loft to get his wallet, which he'd left there after fishing out money for lunch that afternoon.
"Finishing touches on the tuxes for the island wedding. Just about done…..and…snip! All done!" Kurt said with a tired smile. "One last try on…should be good now." He said, yawning widely.
"Which translates loosely to 'Blaine isn't home this weekend and I'm biding my time, trying to stay busy so I don't miss him too much.' Am I right?" David smirked.
"As rain…" Kurt sighed. "Just one more week. Then he'll be home for good." He beamed.
"Well, don't stay here, and be sure to get a cab home. I don't want you out this late walking the neighborhood. In fact, I'm headed up your way, why don't I give you a lift?"
"Sounds good….let me get these lights shut off."
Kurt found David staring at a dress which hadn't made it into the show. The general consensus was that it was just way too fancy, almost flashy, but still very classy.
"I wish, now, that we'd shown it." He said, his voice almost far off.
"Next time. There will be a next time, and we'll show it off then." Kurt smiled. "I think it would have overwhelmed a bit."
"Perhaps, but I can see someone wearing this dress on a very important day." David smiled. Cream silk with hand beading and lace so expensive it made Kurt cringe….it was a spectacular dress, but yes, it would have been overwhelming at the show.
"Another day."
"Another day. Let's head out. You look exhausted." David said, and they locked up and headed out into the night.
"Kurt…c'mon, answer, honey…." Blaine said to his phone, as Kurt didn't answer for the third time in 2 minutes. He hung up and dialed again without leaving a message. He'd been calling for almost an hour and a half now with no answer. Where WAS he? It was 10:15 on Saturday morning. It was ringing again.
"H'lo? Blaine?" Kurt said, sleepy and groggy.
"Oh my God, are you still sleeping?" Blaine laughed. "Get up. GET UP, Kurt, we have to get on the road!" He said excitedly.
"Are you drunk? What's…Blaine, where are you?"
"I'm in the car, in Westindale's car, and I'm about 20 minutes out. I'm picking you up. Pack a bag for an overnight stay. We'll be back tomorrow, but time is of the essence. I'll be there in 20 minutes, Kurt. We need to get something from Maggie's apartment and get on the road! Hurry! Love you!" Blaine said, and disconnected. Kurt sat there, stunned, for a minute or two, unsure if he was actually awake or not. He looked down at his phone, checked the recent calls and sure enough, there was Blaine's number. Lots of times. What the hell? He made a mental note not to take sleeping pills anymore. Clearly they knocked him out to the point where he hadn't heard his phone ring for hours.
He climbed out of bed and staggered into the bathroom for a shower, unsure what the day held, but clearly Blaine had plans. What plans, though? Shouldn't he still be in class? What the hell was going on?
25 minutes later Blaine was pounding up the stairs to their apartment, running into the bedroom and grabbing things left and right. When he re-emerged he had garment bags and a duffel bag thrown over his shoulder.
"Hurry, hurry, hurry, I'm double parked! Bring your key to Maggie's place, we have to hurry!" He said, almost laughing hysterically.
"What in the name of all that's holy is going on, Blaine. This is insane, you're…you're dragging me, Blaine!" Kurt said, still tired and unsure what the big hurry was.
They flew up the steps of Maggie's building, opened her door and Blaine dragged Kurt down the hallway to her bedroom.
"Ok, you find the floral dress, ankle length, and I'll find the….shit…which drawer?" Blaine muttered to himself. "Here!" He rifled through a ton of papers, pulling out a few and setting them aside. "Ok, got it. Hurry!" He laughed. Kurt dragged out the only ankle length floral dress he could find and wrinkled his nose at it. It was a cream background with pale flowers, big cabbage roses in a soft pink and very light blue swishes of color woven through. As Blaine grabbed his hand to pull him out, he spotted some cute heels which matched it on the floor of the closet and grabbed them as well.
They nearly dove into the car, Blaine flinging Kurt's bag into the backseat with his own, and Blaine slammed on the gas. He was beaming.
"Ok, alright, this has gone on long enough. What the hell is going on!?" Kurt laughed.
"Cooper and Maggie are getting married!" Blaine yelled, filling the car with laughter.
"WHAT? Today?!" Kurt said, wide eyed.
"Today, that's why she needed the dress. He asked her Monday night…they talked about it all night, then Tuesday morning decided to get their marriage license and everything. They were going to do it today, like…elope, or whatever…but he said he can't possibly do it without Mom there…and you and I!"
"You're kidding me. You have GOT to be kidding me! Oh holy mother of God, there is NO way. NO WAY, Blaine. Turn the car around!" Kurt yelled. Blaine's eyes were wide now. He didn't have any idea why Kurt would be so opposed to the wedding, but he surely wasn't happy about something.
"Kurt? Why? Aren't you excited for them?" Blaine asked.
"I'm absolutely ecstatic, but there is no way in hell I'm allowing my good friend to marry the love of my life's brother in THAT monstrosity!" Kurt yelled, pointing at the floral dress. "Run me by the loft. It's only 5 extra minutes and it's on the way to your mom's hotel. Drive Blaine!"
A/N - So let me begin by saying I'm sorry for the long wait. A project has taken over my life and...well, yeah, that's it. I have no other excuse. I'm sorry to say it probably won't ever see the light of day on ff dot net...I'd very much like to publish it! I've had a few people read it and I'm getting good feedback, so that's a plus. I'm nearly finished, so I hope...HOPE...I can get back to writing and updating Crowded House on a more regular schedule. Thank you, to all of you, for your patience, and your kind words when I'm able to update. I just love you guys!
Also, Christine is missing in action, sadly, so I'd like to thank Suzanne for stepping up and editing this chapter for me! Yay! I know it's shorter than normal...I think this might be a good thing. Some of those last few were pretty long...sorry for that! Anyway, enjoy!
Review if you feel inclined to do so, please and thank you :)
