The Demonrealm had been saved from the wrath of Quan Chi and Shang Tsung. The portal had unfortunately been destroyed by the soulnado, but in time Raiden and Liu Kang were able to rebuild it, and they could now return to Earthrealm over the ruins of the emperor's castle.
"Well, it looks like you all can return home now," Eda said.
"Most have already left the place, though a few have decided to stay behind for a bit," Raiden said.
"You know I ought to thank Shang Tsung," Eda said.
"Why is that?" Raiden asked.
"Thanks to him, we no longer have to deal with Emperor Belos, it will take some time to rebuild the Boiling Isles, but we will manage," Eda said.
"Well, I wish you luck with that," Raiden said. After which he and Eda shook hands.
Meanwhile, Luz, Gus and Amity were burying Willow's body under the ruins of the emperor's castle. Mourning her death and shedding tears all the way.
"I wish we could have done something," Luz said.
"Me too, have her parents been notified, Amity?" Gus asked.
"Yeah they have, I am sorry as well we didn't have the best relationship, but she was my friend and things were starting to improve," Amity said.
"I am sorry about your friend as well," Liu Kang said.
"Hello Liu Kang, thanks," Luz said.
"I need to get going soon, will you be coming back to Earthrealm as well Luz?" Liu Kang asked.
"I think I will stay here a bit longer I still have unfinished business," as Luz said that Amity started blushing.
"Well, the portal will always be open whenever you are ready to go home. It has been fun meeting you and this realm," Liu Kang said.
"Goodbye," Luz said.
Liu Kang walked up to Raiden and said, "Lord Raiden it's time to go." The two then walked to the portal ending up back in Earthrealm inside a random shack. They got out only to realize it was nighttime.
"Lord Raiden before we both go back to our own thing there was something I was wondering?" Liu Kang said.
"What is it Liu Kang," Raiden said.
"I was too distracted with everything else to get the chance to think about this. But how did we all get teleported to the Demonrealm, to begin with? Like what caused it and why did it only happen to creatures in the Netherrealm and Outworld?" Liu Kang asked.
"I wish I knew Liu Kang, hopefully someday we will figure it out," While Raiden was saying this someone was watching inside a room with a giant hourglass. It was the titaness Kronika.
"You won this round Raiden, but the war has only just begun," Kronika said while smiling.
