Chapter 3

Initiation starts now

It's been a day since Jade took the offer from Ozpin though reluctantly to join Beacon. Team RWBY were having lunch with JNPR when the Beacon intercom system rang out inside the canteen. "To all year one-students please report to the Amphitheater within one hour for an event, repeat, all year-one students please report to the Amphitheater within one hour for an event, thank you." The intercom turned off after it had announced.

"What's going on?" The blond knight of JNPR asked questionly.

"Do you know what's happening within a hour?" Ren asked their sister team.

"I have no idea." Yang responded honestly.

"Do you guys think it could be related to Jade by any chance?" Ruby then jumped into the conversation.

"I doubted it could be related to Mr Grayson by chance, though, you have proven me wrong before so, I'll remain quiet about it." Weiss joined in before mumbling the last part to herself.

"We won't know until we see it later, I suggest we finish up our lunch before going to the Amphitheater to find out" Blake was the last to add in into the conversation. Receiving nods of agreement, the gang continued their lunch before making their way to the Amphitheater.

At the Amphitheater...

Glynda could be seen on the stage as the year-one students begin to filter in slowly with mumbles of curiosity on why they are the only one called. Once all the students have settled down, Glynda begins to speak. "Ladies and Gentlemen, Normally, students who had shown up late to the initiation would be expelled and have to wait for next year to reapply, however this student has shown potential and thus he would be joining us after he has performed his initiation."

This earned a multitude of confused somewhat angry responses, back at the gang, Yang was first to respond. "Hmm… must be that kitty cat." Yang responds with a hint of annoyance in her voice, she still had not forgiven Jade for cutting her hair on accident."

"What makes you say that?" Weiss asked the blond brawer.

"Well Ozpin did want Jade for a reason, remember when Ozpin asked us to leave Jade so he could talk to him alone? I believe that Ozpin made a deal with Jade." Yang replied back with the others looking at Yang with curiosity and a hint of surprise, except Ruby of course.

"Wow." Jaune could only utter.

"That's quite an in-depth look at things, for you. I suppose you could be right, but, where would they put him? I doubt they would put him into a team of himself?" Weiss half-complement half-insult Yang before questioning where Jade would be put in.

The gang were about to continue on but Glynda interrupted everyone's conversation. "The initiation will begin soon so I would advise all of you to settle down." Glynda says before walking off the stage as a projector activates and shows Jade and Ozpin with his mug at the Beacon Cliffs.

At the Beacon Cliffs,

"I still can't believe I agree to work for you as a student." Jade mumbled with annoyance in his voice while Ozpin can be seen with a smug expression on his face.

"I see it as an opportunity to get a student with potential, besides, if I did not invite you to Beacon, you would still have the bounty on your head. Besides that, please step on the platform." Ozpin replied back.

"Hump… I suppose I got to thank you for saving me?" Jade retorted before standing on the platform.

"So what am I looking for?" Jade asked while looking at Ozpin straight in the eye.

"In the emerald forest you would find an abandoned temple that would have relics for you to collect and bring one back to me on the cliff that relic will decide which team you would be placed in." Ozpin answered back.

"So be it.." Jade mumbled before noticing something. " You're going to launch me into the forest, is it? If so, you got problems sir." Jade looks even more annoyed.

"Perhaps…" Ozpin calmly responded back as Jade was launched into the forest. "Perhaps…" with a smile on his face before drinking his mug.

Back at the Amphitheater, "Do you guys know what Ozpin and Jade are talking about?" Yang asked her team.

"Nope, yea no, no." Ruby, Weiss and Blake replied back in that order.

"Whatever it is ,Jade does not look happy at all." Jaune commented on Jade's annoyed expression while talking before getting launched off.

"Quiet everyone! I want to see the action now!" Ruby shushes everyone else as Jade begins to make his landfall.

Back with Jade,

Jade seeing the ground approaching him closer looks for an opportunity to land without crashing. Activating his semblance, A masked form on his face while a single metallic tendril begins to emerge from his overcoat. As he approaches closer and closer to the ground, Jade uses his tendril to grab a branch before swinging himself horizontally, this sends Jade skiing on the soil and grass. Using his hand as additional support as he skis, he slowly ground to a halt before getting up to wipe his hands of dirt and grass. "Now, that was awesome." Jade smiles within his mask before running off north to find the ruins.

After running for a while Jade stops to catch his breath only for his ears to twitch towards sound coming from a nearby bush. Reacting quickly, Jade pulled out Thorn and fired a single shot. The shot finds its mark in the bush as a yelp can be heard in the bush, followed by a Beowolf stumbling out of the bush with a bullet hole in it's skull before collapsing and disintegrating. Jade stood still and closed his eyes and ears twitching around his head.

Back with everyone else in the Amphitheater,

"What is this dolt doing?" Weiss asked her team.

"He's listening for Beowolfs, look at his ears." Blake pointed out.

"Why would he do that?" Ruby questioned her hidden faunus teammate.

This time Pyrrha answered Ruby's question. "Beowolfs normally hunt in packs with an Alpha normally leading the pack, it is likely that the Beowolf that Jade killed was just one of the pack members. I believe that Jade knew this and did not want to be ambushed."

"Where did you get this information from Pyrrha?" Ruby asked her with awe in her voice on how intelligent Pyrrha was.

"Some from Professor Port's class but mostly from the library." Pyrrha replied back.

"You learned something in his class?" Yang responded back and bemused that you can learn something in Ports' ridiculously boring class of him telling stories about himself.

"Well kind of, most of it was self study." Pyrrha admitted to everyone else.

"Anyway! We finally get to see some action!" Ruby squealed, getting the rest of the team's attention back to the screen showing multiple Beowolfs emerging from the bushes and surrounding Jade.

Back with Jade…

Jade opened his eyes and readies his weapons as Beowolfs surround him all growling but not charging on him. Seeing Beowolfs all around him, Jade began blasting every Beowolf in the head, instantly killing them with seer efficiency that none of them even had the time to charge and pounce on him. Only to notice that the Alpha was not around him. "Now, where are you, you big black fu-."

Jade did not manage to finish what he was about to say to the Beowolf alpha that came from one of the larger trees and landed right on top of Jade without making a sound. Jade was crushed beneath the alpha Beowolf and as it tried to bite him. Jade responded by giving it a bullet to the head, sending out stumbling backwards allowing Jade to get up from the ground groaning in pain. "Damn grimm getting more intelligent." Jade mumbled before using his semblance to grab the alpha by the neck followed by lifting it up into the air and snapping its neck like a twig before tossing it aside to disintegrate. "Now where was I? Ah yes find the relic for Ozpin." Jade talked under his breath, and mask before running off towards where the relics are.

Back with the gang of 8,

"That was awesome!" Ruby cheered as Jade ran towards the ruin site.

"Wow, he did not let hold back at all, I wish to have a spar with him once he joins us." Pyrrha says with curiosity on how their fight would go.

"Aw… why didn't he break its neck? Why not break the legs?" Nora was disappointed that Jade decided to snap its neck and not break its legs.

"Nora please." Ren tried to assure his not girlfriend.

"Hump if he is this skilled how did we beat him before?" Weiss muttered out loud.

"From what you guys told us, I believe it was due to luck and that Jade was not fighting at his peak. Now that he has rest, things will go very differently." Pyrrha answers Weiss back.

"Fair enough I guess." Weiss muttered.

Back with kitty kat,

After a while of running, Jade ran into another pack of Beowolfs only to get cut down faster than the previous pack with bullet holes in their heads, it was then Jade reached the relics in the ruins. Seeing all the only golden chess pieces of each kind all presented nicely. "So these are the relics." Jade hummed before slowing down and walking towards the ruins, his ears still twitching about to listen for incoming grimm." He stopped and stared at all the chess pieces which were all in front of him with his left hand on his chin with a thoughtful look on his face. After 5 seconds of thinking, Jade reached his hand out to the knight piece only for him to pause and turn to face behind him. Out from the trees and bushes, a Ursa major and smaller Ursa made their presence known to Jade. Once both of them noticed Jade, they roared and charged at Jade. Realising that he does not have time to choose, Jade proceeds to snatch the golden knight piece and stuff it in his pocket before dodging an ursa swipe and running past them while unholstering Jade and Lumina.

"Well congratulations Ruby, looks like you are getting a new teammate." Jaune congratulated his fellow leader on getting a new teammate.

"Guys! We got a new member, isn't this awesome!" Ruby cheered at the fact that they are going to get a new member into their group.

"Wait Ruby, how do you know he is going to be part of our group? And beside if so where would he sleep?" Weiss gave the only relevant response here.

"Well to answer your question Ice queen," Yang was about to give a reason but Weiss responded back with a hey when Yang called her ice queen. "As I was saying, kitty cat at the screen took the Knight piece, so by that conclusion he would most likely be in our group." Yang continued to explain to Weiss.

"And you are ok with this? He's a guy, who knows what he would do when we are sleeping." Weiss countered back.

"Both of you stop now, we can ask him once he is back with us, besides, something is happening." Ruby interrupted both her team members bickering and got both of them back on the screen.

After a while of running with a Ursa major and a Ursa on his tail, Jade changed Lumina into a sword and fired some shots at them with Thorn. A few shots landed on their mark on the Ursa's legs and arms however, the Ursa ignored the shots before pursuing forward to Jade who responded in kind by charging at the Ursa. The Ursa sends a slash at Jade only for Jade to dodge it before running up its arm. Jade proceeds to jam Lumina into the eye socket of the Ursa. The Ursa Roared and proceed to try and grab Jade with its paws only for Jade to drop off into a roll to avoid the Ursa. With the Ursa somewhat distracted with a sword to the eye, Jade then uses his semblance to form a tendril with a sharp end and slices off the Ursa's arms before rushing at it with Thorn. The Ursa roared with fury only to have another blade though its head killing it instantly. As the Ursa collapsed Jade pulled out both his swords from its head and rolled forward once the Ursa made impact with the ground. It was only then did he realised that the Ursa major was missing and then received a massive punch from the major that sent him flying towards a tree, shattering it into pieces and making Jade cried in pain once contact was made with the tree.

Back with everyone else, Everyone winched including Glynda who was on the side lines as Jade slammed into the tree, shattering it to pieces.

"That looked like it hurt." Jaune winced as Jade collapsed onto his knees. "Ditto." The others agree with Mr noodle arms.

"Do you think he would be alright?" Ruby asked her friends with worry in her voice.

"After that, probably cracked ribs at best or broken bones at worst." Blake responds back to her team leader while watching the screen.

"Should we do something?" Ruby asked again.

"Even if we could, we won't make it in time." Yang says to her sister as the Ursa major charges a downed Jade on the screen.

Back with Jade, Jade groaned in pain as he got onto his feet and dodged another attack sent his way by the major by backflipping out of the way. Jade then uses his guns and fires on the majors face. The major, ignoring the shots charges towards Jade only to have him run towards it and sliding underneath the major. Using the time while the major was confused on where Jade had gone, he flipped a hidden switch in his guns. The Switch causes Thorn's barrel to extend and the back of Thorn would open up revealing a connection on the other hand would have its back extended out to become a recoil pad while the barrel would change as well revealing a sniper scope. Jade proceeds to attach the two guns together forming a sniper rifle.

"OHMYGODSOTHATWASWHATTHESWITCHESAREFORITMAKESSOMUCHSENSESNOW!" Ruby, for want of a better word, was beyond enthusiastic that she found out what the hidden switches do back when she picked them up from Jade a while ago.

"Ruby! Our ears please!" Weiss yelled at her leader as she rubbed her ears.

"Sorry Weiss! His weapon is just so unique and so cool." Ruby apologized back to Weiss.

Back with Kitty boi,

Jade quickly loaded in a round for his sniper rifle and pointed straight for its head before yelling. "Hey ugly!" That got the majors attention as it turned around only to take a sniper shot into its head. The shot shattered part of the majors mask and the impact sent the Ursa stumbling back into a tree. Seeing an opportunity, Jade separated Thorn and Lumina and shifted them back into swords, he then dashed towards the major. The major responded by swinging its left arm in attempts to slash Jade only to miss. Jade then jumped on the Ursa's arm and jumped towards the Ursa's head followed by plunging both swords into its skull, the Ursa roared and began to collapse onto the ground with Jade letting go of his swords and jumping off the Ursa's head. As the Ursa major collapsed onto the ground, Jade took out his scroll and began to type something onto his scroll before putting it away, as he walked towards the disintegrating Ursa to collect his swords, his mask begins to disintegrate revealing a smile on his face as he picked up both Thorn and Lumina before climbing up a tree to see where is the cliffs, and jumping off it to make his way towards the cliffs.

"Wow never knew kitty cat was ballsy enough to charge at a Ursa major. I like him more now." Yang complemented with a hint of awe on how he was willing to charge into a majors attack only to dodge it's attack and respond in kind with his own.

"I must say that was rather… Impressive, for a faunus." Weiss insult/compliment and unaware that Blake was staring at Weiss angrily for her comments.

"Amazing." Pyrrha can only utter as Jade effectively kills a Ursa major without too much trouble despite the majors initial advantage.

"That. Was. Awesome!" Ruby cheered out as the fight ended.

"Come on... where's the leg breaking?" Nora was exasperated that there were no leg breaking going on screen.

"Nora please." Ren begged Nora to calm down.

"Have you guys noticed how he rarely uses his semblance?" Jaune pointed out, followed by him receiving various nods of agreement.

"I suppose it would makes sense if his semblance drains his aura rapidly though, or that he does not have high aura." Pyrrha suggest a theory about Jade's semblance.

"More questions on our new mysterious teammate. yea?" Yang butted in.

The sun is setting as Jade reaches back to the Beacon cliffs as Headmaster Ozpin waits for him with his mug still in his hand. Seeing Jade arriving made Ozpin smile as the footage he had on Jade while in the Emerald forest proved him correct. "Ah Mr Grayson good to see you well I suppose?" Ozpin cordially asked Jade who is exhausted from climbing back up the cliffs.

"Yea peachy… Here's your relic chess piece you asked me to collect." Jade responds back to Ozpin with the golden knight piece in his hand and holds it out for Ozpin to take it from him. "Thank you Mr Grayson, now we should go now. We have an announcement to make to all the year-one students and which team you would be working with." Ozpin took the relic piece from Jade signalled him to follow him.

Much later at the Amphitheater, Ozpin walked onto the stage with Jade following him behind before addressing the crowd. "First of all can we give an applause for Mr Grayson's success in the initiation?" What follows was a thunderous applause and cheers that caused Jade to become unusually nervous about the situation. The crowd calmed down before Ozpin continued on. "As we all have seen here Mr Grayson has proven his abilities against grimm as we all have seen though our cameras."

The screen behind Ozpin showed Jade's achievements in dispatching packs of Beowolfs and cutting to another scene of Jade plunging his swords into the Ursa major's exposed head. Jade saw the team who had beaten him cheering on for him and even waving to him which he responded in kind. All except the Schnee though that is to be expected. Though he's more interested in the raven haired cat faunus who hid her traits. Both of them noticed the other staring at each other before nodding.

"Now Mr Grayson." Ozpin's voice snapped Jade out of it, who then faced Ozpin. "You have retrieved the knight piece, therefore, you will act as the fifth member of team RWBY, Congratulations." Ozpin smiled at Jade who just looked Shocked at what he heard and looked at both him and the crowd. Cheers and claps can be heard throughout the amphitheater while team R_BY give Jade smiles except Weiss who's not happy about having a faunus guy in the team. Jade snapped out of his shock and then smiled before thinking to himself "Perhaps this won't be so bad at all, still gotta get use to sleeping with people now." He silently chuckles to himself before his thoughts run again. "I suppose time will tell what happens next."

And that's Chapter 3 done as of now, I now that having my OC be part of team RWBY is Cliché as fuck and has be done over countless time by other authors before but... I feel it would be best if so, besides that, I have plans for Jade's interaction with his new team in the next chapter.
