Thought you guys could use a chapter before my homework takes over my life for the next week. Enjoy!
The next day, Gloria's was closed so Lyra had the day all to herself. The bar closed up around 4 in the morning, so Lyra slept through the day and got up before sunrise, ready to enjoy her night. She wasn't going to spend her night sitting around, she was a creature of the night and needed (more like wanted) a bite. Gloria forbid her from munching on her patrons so she reserved this time to let her true self shine and maybe have some fun along the way.
She walked out of her apartment and made her way towards the center of the city. Lyra hadn't had much of a chance to explore since arriving here, she wasn't about to wander around without having an idea of what she could be walking into. She had been watching the news, observing people and especially, observing vampires. She had learned a lot about their species in the past week, and she knew that despite being assholes they weren't dumb.
She continued her walk and found herself at a nightclub, there was groups of college students both in and around the building so she figured that this would be her hunting ground for the night. She smiled to herself, despite being a thousand years old, Lyra still couldn't resist the roar of a good party.
Lyra grabbed herself a drink at the bar, downed it, then made her way over to the dance floor. She wasn't dancing alone for long, college guys were always predictable, constantly eager to pounce on the next hot thing that walked through the door. Choosing her meal wasn't very difficult, she was the kind of girl who knew what she wanted and always got it. Just as she was about to make her move on Mr. Tall-Tan-and-Handsome, someone touches her shoulder.
"Come here often?" Lyra turns to find a short, stocky 30-year-old man. He wasn't what you would expect to find in such a young crowd, and it set off Lyra's alarm bells. Vampire. How did I miss this when I walked in? These damn creatures are everywhere in this city.
"Over use that pick-up line often?" He smiles at her snark but isn't deterred.
"I do actually, usually works too."
"Works on who? The 40-year-old fang bangers that you should be hitting on?" She sees her comment hit a nerve.
"You can tell I'm a vampire, so I advise you watch your tongue because I won't be so nice if you keep this up." He leans in close and looks her square in the eye, threateningly. He won't be so nice? He picked on the wrong girl to harass tonight.
"Watch my tongue? Oh honey, you're talking to the wrong girl if you want that. So, why don't you run along and find someone more your age to eat?" With that Lyra turned and walked away, making her way to the bar for a much-needed drink. All I wanted was to have a little fun with Mr. Tall-Tan-and-Handsome but noooo, Mr. Short-Stubby-and-Stinky had to come along and ruin it. Stupid vampires.
But Lyra's night wasn't over yet, a couple drinks paired with the group of football players that just walked in can make things better.
Godric was sitting in his study, filling out the paperwork that he hated so much but he chose to be in this position and would fulfill his responsibilities to the best of his ability. This, at times, was the reason he still lived. He knew that he shouldn't think this way but after his 2,000 years on this earth there wasn't much that captured his interest anymore.
"Sir?" Godric looks up from his desk and sees his lieutenant, Isabel, at the door.
"Yes, underling?"
"I have a Frank Pooter here to see you. He insists that its important and will only talk to you."
"Very well, let him in." He sighs and puts the paperwork in the drawer. A short stocky vampire walks in and bows in respect.
"Sheriff, sir, I-uh I need to talk to you about a situation." Godric doesn't say anything and just raises his eye brows for him to continue.
"I-uh-I went out tonight to a nightclub, hoping to pick up a girl, for some fun, noth-nothing sinister and I encountered this girl-uh-woman who-uh couldn't be galmoured. Sir." Now, that is something that piqued Godric's interest.
"What do you mean 'couldn't be glamoured'?"
"I-I had the eye contact, I even made it so she wouldn't catch on, cause sh-she was familiar with our kind, but it-it didn't work. She told me off then walked away. I-I may not be very old but I know how to glamour." Frank looks up from the floor to meet Godric's eye.
"Would you be able to find and identify her?" He wanted to see this girl, this anomaly, for himself. He didn't believe she would be a threat to their kind but if this information spread, it would not be for the better.
"Y-Yes Sheriff. She should still be at the club."
Lyra was happily grinding against one of the football players from earlier and thinking to herself about how she should go out more often. Letting loose can end badly back where she came from, something around the reason of everyone wanting her dead but that wasn't her concern right now. As a vampire, she felt things more intensely and right now she was on cloud nine.
"You wanna get out of here?" Lyra was looking to finish her night out the right way, and he seemed to have the same thought.
When they reached the exit, Lyra's senses picked up on someone watching them and immediately sobered up. Why can't I just have a good night? Is that too much to ask? Might as well wait and see if they make a move, I've been wanting to kill someone for days.
"So what's your name, Darling? Can't say I ever learned it?"
Godric sat atop of the building across the street with the young vampire Frank, waiting to spot this mysterious girl that couldn't be glamoured.
"That's her! There! Coming out with the guy in the jersey!" Godric looks down to where Frank is motioning and finds himself met with a familiar face. Lyra, he remembers her name clearly, and is almost excited to see the girl again.
"Are you positive this is her?"
"Yes. She's a snarky little thing." The stocky man licked his lips like the mere thought of her telling him off was appealing.
"I believe you are mistaken, underling. I met the girl just last week, I had no trouble glamouring her. Seems as though this is a simple case of confusion, you must not have conducted yourself as you thought." Godric lied, he wasn't quite sure why but he was going to figure this girl out himself. He turns away from the girl, motioning the young vampire to leave.
"But, sir, I-I know I did it right, just as my maker taught me. You cannot write this off as nothing." Godric speeds over to Frank and takes him by the neck, squeezing enough to make his point.
"You are a young vampire, which means you are still learning. Next time, you question my decision, I will not be as forgiving." With that Godric flies off the roof and towards the direction Lyra was headed.
Bumm bumm bummmm... looks like Frankie tried glamouring Lyra without her realizing it...but we get to see Godric again so maybe it'll all work out. Thanks for reading, til next time! I own my OC's but all right reserved to the deserving parties.
