After we watched our mate leave with Carmanos and Ben, we turned our attention to the young vampire in the spare bedroom. We conversed momentarily about how to approach her exactly. After agreeing only one of us should go in, I walked silently to the room and knocked before entering. She was lying on her side, fully dressed with the exception of the purple sparkly heels on the floor and the purple jacket on the chair. There were bloody tears streaking her face as she turned her head that was buried in a Kleenex to keep everything from getting messy.
"Hello," she said meekly, her voice very small and soft but still bell like.
I smiled in response. "Hello, little one. It will be sunrise shortly. I recommend getting into something more comfortable to rest in."
"Okay," she answered in misery. She sat up slowly, stopping when she was sitting on the side of the bed, her shoulders slumped over. Her tears hadn't calmed and she was still sobbing as well.
"If you need us at all at any time, don't hesitate to say our name. We'll hear you no matter where we are in the house. It doesn't matter what it's for; it's okay."
She smiled and a few extra bloody tears slipped out of her eyes. "Thank you," she said, touched.
"You're welcome." I stood there and observed her for a few moments. "I want to talk to you about something tonight after you wake up, okay?"
"Okay," she responded quietly, nodding hesitantly.
I left the room and heard her brush her teeth and dress for bed. Not long after, I knew she was asleep since I heard the crying stop, her having been pulled under by the calling of the sun at such a young age. Eric and I agreed to take turns sleeping just in case the newborn needed someone, but both of us slept all through our sleep and consecutively with no incidents. We settled in the living room after, within eyesight of the door that opened to Nicole.
I could feel Bella stop traveling shortly before Eric woke up around noon. Around thirty minutes to an hour later, I felt immense emotional pain course through our mate, and knew Eric felt it too.
Only a few moments after, we felt fear take over but still mixed with pain. We worried for her safety, but knew Carmanos and Ben would keep her safe. It didn't fade swiftly so I immediately dialed her number with Eric at my side. It rang and with only a few rings, I heard her beautiful voice filled with fright.
"Hi, Godric, and I assume Eric too."
"You assume right, little one," I started. I felt her fear ease some. "What has you so afraid?"
She hesitated, which made me worry even more. I heard Carmanos speak. "You need to tell them."
"Edward is here, at Charlie's house."
That's all she needed to say before Eric and I started growling and snarling at the phone. Rage filled me, making my vision go red and unfocused; Eric had the same feelings as I did.
"How dare he show his face again in your presence?! After the Hell he put you through, he has the audacity to show up at your father's house! He will pay for this!"
Eric and I couldn't stop growling, and it was so loud it woke Nicole up from her sleep. That was saying something since newborns are hard to wake up during their sleeping hours. She looked terrified as she peeked out of her temporary room. We tried our best to quell the sound as we reassured her the problem was something that was happening with our mate and nothing to do with her. We told her that Bella had a crazy ex-boyfriend and that was what was making us upset. She relaxed and went back into the bedroom and went to sleep again.
"Why is he there?" Eric asked tensely, his muscles contracted and strained against the force he was using to keep from attacking something and destroying part of our home.
"We're not sure," she answered.
"We'll need to call you back in a few minutes," Carmanos interjected.
We hung up after that, sending Bella our love through our bond. She sent love back, along with thanks, though for what we weren't sure. We felt her startle a couple of seconds later, before relaxing shortly after. We continued to talk about our torture plans for the sparkling, pathetic excuse for a vampire called Edward Cullen. Strong fear struck our mate, making us pause. Humor filtered through for a moment before disappearing into meekness, then oddly into matter-of-fact. Pity, amusement, and sickness followed. Amusement and hurt combined, making us curious about what could possibly cause that mix.
Pure love flowed through her, and we knew she was thinking of us. Startled fear then shock entered her system. This was accompanied by total joy and relief. Pleasure overcame everything, and I wanted to know what could make her that happy. Since she relaxed, we did as well and carried on with what we were doing. A few minutes later, we thankfully received a phone call from Bella.
"Little one, is everything okay now?" I questioned.
"More than okay," she sighed happily. "They tore Edward into pieces. His fiancée broke up with him after she found out what he said about her too. It was so awesome to watch!"
Eric and I smirked evilly at each other. That jerk was ours now. "That would be absolutely amazing to see, but we get to see something that will make us even happier I'm sure. Can you put on Carmanos or Ben for a moment?"
The phone shuffled around and Ben came onto the phone. "Godric?"
"Edward Cullen is still alive, correct?"
"Yes."
An evil laugh came through my lips. "Excellent. Is there any chance you can put him into something that will keep him from escaping until he arrives here? We can even have the jet bring the pieces back. You would just need to arrange something to bring it to the plane."
"Easy enough; when do you want it done?"
"As soon as you can if possible. We'll send the plane back as soon as it can leave," I informed him.
After a few more exchanges about arrangements with Ben, our little Bella was back on the phone. We talked a small amount more before she got off to eat cheese pizza and spicy nacho chips. A small surprise on our part happened when Ben's mate came out around two-forty-five in the afternoon, which was eight hours after she fell asleep. Normally, newborn vampires (vampires that were between just created and on average twenty years later) slept until an hour or so before sundown.
"Hello," she said softly and hesitantly.
We smiled back happily and let her know she could sit and join us. She smiled back and sat on the couch, pulling a laptop out of a bag. She admitted she carried out the bag just in case. After sending a few more e-mails, I knew it was time to go and prepare for the arrival of the abomination.
I made my way to Eric's basement, where there was a secret door that led to a secondary basement; really it was just used for special prisoners and had near any torture instrument you could ever think of. I opened the farthest cell from the door since they were currently all empty and stepped in. I looked around to see what was in here currently. I removed most of the instruments with gloves on since they were silver and I didn't want to catch vampire diseases just in case. I put in all the instruments that would harm a cold one soaked the restraints in a mixture of venom and, oddly enough, undiluted bleach that was combined with wolf's bane. I found it odd that the Cold Ones had the same reaction to wolf's bane as werewolves, which is the same reaction we have to silver. I suppose the witch that created them either made a mistake or had a sick sense of humor.
I also put the same mixture on some of the torture devices. This would be extremely fun!

Godric went down to prepare for the idiot's arrival, so I continued to do my work as Sheriff of Area Five of Louisiana. Ben's mate Nicole was typing away on her laptop so much I was wondering if she was writing a novel. I felt Bella becoming more and more nervous. I picked up my phone and pressed her contact before the call connected. I felt her happiness as she greeted me.
"Hello, sweetheart. It's only me this time. Godric is getting everything ready for when sparkly penny-head gets here." I chuckled at my name for him, considering that was putting it nicely... very nicely. She stared laughing hysterically at something and hearing her laugh like that put a smile on my face.
"Why didn't I think of that nickname?"
I chuckled again before turning serious. "Why so nervous, Bella?"
I noticed her hesitation before Ben spoke, extremely annoyed. His mate stopped typing, perking up for a moment at hearing his voice with small smile on his face. "Yes, please do tell your mate your insane idea that even I am hesitant to let you do."
I saw a look of surprise cross Nicole's face and wondered why. My own face I'm sure was more questioning than anything, especially since my eyebrow was raised. My maker raced into the room then with his face an identical expression of my own then.
To the amusement of the newborn, Godric and I spoke at exactly the same time saying the exact same thing: "Bella?"
She sighed. "I want to go to the hospital here to see if Dr. Cullen is there so we can tell him Edward is dead. Esme was always nice; even if she did abandon me, she deserves to know."
Our faces turned to stone, frozen in an outraged state. The rage flowing through Godric and I had Ben's mate temporarily going to her temporary room at vampire speed with her things. When I could finally speak, it came out the dark and intimidating voice that was usually the one vampires that were on the wrong side of me heard.
"Isabella, absolutely not." She started trying to protest. "It is entirely too dangerous after what happened." My voice turned its attention to the 5500 year old vampire that was guarding her. "Ben, please turn around. If she tries, stop her, even if it's only calling them."
"Happily!" Ben exclaimed.
"Eric-" she began.
"No," Godric stated firmly. His tone of voice, the steel that filled it mixed with the simmering anger, was not one I had heard in many years, likely centuries but at least many decades. "Once you are out of harm's way in Florida, we will make the call, Isabella. Until then, stay away from the Cold Ones or there will be consequences. Is that clear, Isabella?"
I felt the slight fear but more so submissiveness; her breathing was being steadied by her deep breaths to try and calm her nervousness, dread, and anticipation. "Yes, sir," she replied instantly in a breathy voice.
I knew that the power that was coming off of my maker and I in waves had to be making the newborn scared, especially with her experiences that Ben told us about.
"Good," we said simultaneously.
We stayed on the phone talking a little more, with Godric disappearing for a moment to reassure Nicole everything was fine and it was more than okay to stay out in the living room. She came back out, hesitating with every step she took and looked like she was about to dart back in to the bedroom.
When they finally reached the house, we stayed on until we knew she was in the house, at least that was the plan. Suddenly, we heard Carmanos asking Bella if she was okay. Worry went through our bodies, along with the hope she was okay. She answered 'fresh air' but we could tell something was wrong. When we heard her being placed down, we started trying to gain her attention, but she didn't register it.
Ben started talking then. "The wolf is in the back yard knocked out; he's alive though. There is quite a bit of blood in the house but not enough for someone to have died from it. I can't find your father; call your friends."
Bella's still weak voice that was now filled with panic came over the receiver. I'll call you right back."
After we hung up, we looked to each other. "Do you think that they would do something to Bella or her father in retaliation of us taking the bastard from them for hurting Bella?" I asked Godric.
"If they did, it would violate the treaty that was negotiated between our kinds. It would give any vampire the right to destroy them all," he replied tensely.
We waited in an intense and worried silence for Bella to call back. Thankfully, it wasn't long before the call came, just a minute or two. "Little Isabella, please tell us why they were wondering if you were okay when you walked into the house."
She sighed. "It'll seem silly," she tried to write it off.
"We insist, little one; what's wrong?" Godric persisted.
"Okay," she agreed. "When we walked in, there was blood because someone took my dad. It made me dizzy." We got worried she fell and hurt herself then.
Ben commented in a confused voice, "You didn't see the blood."
We chuckled at this, with her having told me this the first night and I having told Godric on the phone that night. "I know; I can smell it." I could simply imagine her delectable blush gracing her supple cheeks, making her that much more adorable.
Carmanos asked about what it smelled like in a surprised voice, and she answered. Godric asked if vampire blood did it as well and I mentally face-palmed myself at forgetting to tell him the negative answer and positive reaction to that. We heard wolves howling and our bodies went rigid, even though we knew they were friendly.
"Are we going with the pack?" she asked her companions. Godric and I got upset at this. N-O; not happening. She was going to stay safe.
"Bella, while the wolves outnumber them, even with the ones from Alaska helping them, not to mention I can kill them all in a matter of seconds, I think you should stay away. You and Carmanos can head down to the reservation with your friend's father. I personally can't wait to rip their sparkly heads off; I hate Cold Ones. However, it's very dangerous for you to be there," Ben told her hesitantly.
"I agree," we both said, extremely strongly in our opinion.

She said she had to go for a bit so we hung up. We didn't relax yet, until we knew she was safe that is. We continued our work on our computers until we felt our mate's emotions go from worried and tense to scared and in pain. We felt her become injured and stopped everything we were doing. I quickly dialed her number, scared about what happened to her.
"Bella, are you okay?" I asked frantically. Every thought consisted of her right now, whether it was hope she was okay, fear of her dying, or worry about her being injured and/or safe.
"Car accident," she said weakly and distantly. This had us in a panic. "Something..." she breathed heavily out, "Hit us from the side." She sighed again. "Concussion," she grumbled.
While I was in an upheaval, I wanted to chuckle at how she said concussion, like she had too many and wanted them to all go away forever. I knew that was unfortunately the case though. "Are you sure?" I said curiously. How could she be sure that she had a concussion?
"Positive... had too many," she groaned.
I felt a small, amused smile grace my lips with how she was so certain. "Where's Carmanos?"
"I just see... Carmanos... beside the car... can't tell what's happening. Long blonde hair... Rosalie... she never did like me," Bella said, having a hard time speaking.
We heard the Cold One being torn apart before the phone dropped with a loud clang. We frantically started calling her name and asking her to talk to us, hoping she would answer and stay awake. We heard the car door be forced open with a groaning noise before Carmanos' voice came over the phone.
"Godric; Eric. Bella's passed out. Everything else is out of the car. I just need to take her and the pocket book out before I put the Cold One in and then set it on fire."
"Yes; please," I concurred; Eric as well.
We hung up then and started the process of waiting for her to wake up. While waiting we asked Nicole if she needed anything, like to eat or drink. She happily accepted a drink and I made her some bacon, eggs, and toast as I had seen Bella make many times. She sat at the table and ate quietly before washing the dishes and then going back to her laptop. We tried explaining that it wasn't necessary, and we had a dishwasher, but she wanted to do it because she was used to being forced to before Ben found her. We had to insist for her to agree.
My phone rang again; it was Bella. "Bella?" I questioned impatiently and urgently. We wanted Bella to be okay; for us to know for sure, she would need to wake up and go to the doctor.
"Not quite," Carmanos answered and I sighed sadly. "She's still passed out. Did she say anything in particular about how she felt before while talking?"
"Concussion," was my immediate reply.
"Do you want me to feed her my blood to heal her?"
I looked at Eric. "I know I've always said that our blood should be used for very few things, but she could have gotten very badly hurt in the car accident, Eric."
"Agreed; I have no problem with it. The only thing that's annoying is having her dream of Carmanos."
I rolled my eyes and that made him smirk. "Please; we don't want to take the chance of it being more than that."
There was a brief silence as our little mate was healed before Carmanos continued talking. "I gave her about ten drops of blood. That should be enough to heal her from a minor concussion."
"Thank you; that should be good enough for now," Godric responded.
"Yeah, especially with the side effects," Eric interjected.
I rolled my eyes. He was too concerned with the side effects of the blood; our mate was in danger. "Any word on what happened with the Cullens yet?"
"Not from Ben, no; however, the Cold One that made us have the accident admitted part of the details about the family and their plan for Bella. She couldn't stand Bella, blaming her for essentially everything wrong with her psychotic family. They were going to kill Charlie last October, but left before then and the penny one got distracted doing something else. They were going to kill Bella too." Carmanos sounded extremely angry but also sad.
I myself was outraged. I heard the phone began creaking under the strain from my increasing grip. "He will pay for this." I started growling out profanities, explicitly naming the pathetic, pretend vampire.
This time Ben's mate simply carried on with her laptop, typing away. Carmanos, Eric, and I hung up the phones after goodbyes and a promise from him that Bella would call as soon as she woke up.
We went back to the things we were doing, though I went down and added a few more things to the room set up for Sparkle's torture. I couldn't wait until he got here about six hours from now. After going back up, since I couldn't think of something else at the moment, but I wanted to do this before we were preoccupied with our mate's former… with the jerk that hurt her. I walked over to Nicole and asked her to come with me to another room so it would be more private. She brought her laptop with her and we went to her temporary room. The only way I knew how to address it and begin is just saying it. There was no easy way to put this, or talk about it.
"We heard that you were abused growing up," I started.
She nodded and red tears began to well up in her eyes. "Yeah."
"I was too; maybe I can help you."
