Dolores POV
And it shook the house. The lights flickered on and off in a flurry, the babies screeched, and in the split-second while the blue flash shone, we all stared at each other.
Swirling and whirling around, it sucked cake plates into itself, absorbing debris like a vacuum. This big blue whirlwind snatched Klaus' plate of cake right off the table in front of him, and he gasped in horror. Not at the portal itself, but at its thievery of his cake. This did not shock me in the slightest.
Five's hand, which I was holding, loosened its grip on mine as he stood up quickly, running a hand through his wind-whipped hair. Ben held onto Allison's baby tightly, sitting practically right in front of the threatening thing. I tightened my grip on Carter and stood up with Five, behind him.
'What's going on?', Diego shouted out, his voice drowned out by the deafening sound of the wind.
'A portal's opening!', Five shouted back, not shifting his gaze.
'Are you doing it?', Luther questioned, warranting a condescending look from Five.
The thing started to sputter, losing strength, until a form appeared.
And it spit this form out onto the ground in front of us, and then it completely and utterly disappeared, as if it had never been there.
There in front of us lay a small boy, draped in filthy old clothes, face covered in dirt, clutching a half mannequin wearing a black and white polka-dotted blouse.
Funny. I have the same blouse.
'There is no way on...', Diego muttered, cut off when the young boy perked his face up to look at us.
'Holy..'
'Hey buddy!', Klaus said happily, giving a petite golf clap.
I looked at the boy. I looked at Five. And then back at the boy again.
This boy had my husband's eyes. He had his hair, his lips, his chin. If I didn't know better, I would've thought he was..
'What are you idiots staring at?', his mouth spit out, eyebrows furrowing.
OH MY WORD IT WAS HIM!
'No, uhm, excuse me, no.', Five started, pacing back and forth. 'This doesn't work out.', he said, patting his chest and touching his face, making sure he was really there, and awake.
'What doesn't work out, old man?', little Five questioned with authority.
'It's, no, this is... this is impossible.', he muttered, squinting his eyes. 'How are you here?', he said, pointing at the boy, the other hand on his forehead in confusion.
'Who even are you?', little Five asked, standing up, crossing his arms in front of his chest.
'Watch your tone with me, you little rat.', Five said, coming nearer.
'I'll bust your butt, old man.', little Five shot back, getting in his face as high as he could. All of us stared on at this scene, dumbfounded as we watched Five argue with... himself?
They stared at each other intensely for a moment, both of them unsure of the other.
Five touched the edge of little Five's dusty jacket, then crossed his arms.
'How'd you get out?', he questioned, narrowing his eyes.
'Wouldn't you like to know?', little Five retorted, and then blinked over to the counter, and in a split second had taken the peanut butter and marshmallows from the cabinet.
Five blinked over just as fast, stopping him, grabbing the peanut butter and holding it high above his head. Little Five reached for a moment, jumping, and then gave up, nostrils flaring at his older counterpart.
'Tell me why you're here, and you can have this back.', Five said, trying to regain his composure.
Little Five ignored him, and then fiddled with the handle of the coffee pot.
'Can't get a decent cup of coffee in the apocalypse, come back here, and there's still none.', he mumbled. Seeing that it was empty, he tossed the pot behind his shoulder, where it hit Annie on the head.
'Ow, watch it!', Annie yelped, rubbing her head, her face angering towards the boy. Felix patted her head, asking if she was okay, but she was fine.
Little Five turned around to see where the voice coming from the head he'd hit.
He smirked and then turned back to Five.
'Hey!', Five said, grabbing his arm.
Little Five tried to break loose, but older Five was much stronger and held him tight, which frustrated him. So, he blinked away, and Five followed.
Little Five stared at him in realization.
'Ha, so you're me.', he said, scratching his head. 'Guess I don't age well.'
'Hey now...', I spoke up, about to get involved.
Little Five turned to me, cocking his head.
'Well, hello there, gorgeous.', he said, smirking. 'And who might you be?'
'That's my wife, kid.', Five said, sarcastically smiling.
'Awesome!', little Five smiled. 'Always knew I'd end up with a looker.'
I looked at the ground, really, really uncomfortable.
'Shut up.', Five said, grabbing him again. 'You're going to tell me how you're here, and you're going to do it right now.'
Little Five put his hands on his hips, folding.
'There was.. a woman.', he mumbled.
'A woman?'
'Yeah, blonde hair, black trenchcoat, fancy-schmancy briefcase, yada yada.', he said, shrugging.
Five ran a hand through his hair, looking over at Lila with a confused glance. She stood up from her seat.
'And what'd she say to you, exactly?'
'Said she'd send me back home if I'd agree to work for her.'
'Oh my..', Lila said, shocked.
I looked around, confused. Who were they talking about?
'The Handler...', Five said under his breath, eyes looking distressed.
'Yeah, yeah, that's what she said she was.' little Five put in. 'How'd you know that?'
'It can't be.', Lila said, standing completely still.
'We watched that woman get machine-gunned in the head on Sissy's farm.', Diego said, confused. Vanya's head perked up at Sissy's mention.
'But she's dead!', Allison said, her voice strong.
Little Five rubbed his hands together.
'Well, guess someone here's missing something.'
And all of the siblings looked around, Five at the other six, and the silence was deafening.
