A/N: Sorry for the delay! I wish this chapter flowed better but I hate fluff and I didn't want to waste another chapter trying to get to the point. Last chapter Ian and Tiara went to New Orleans, while Christian is away for the summer, and managed to reconnect somewhat. Now they are back home and back to business. No hints about the end so read away!

Chapter 9: Crumbling

Point of View: Tiara Somerhalder July 11, 2016

"You're at twenty four weeks so you have some time to go," Dr. Graham says with a smile. "And until then you need to be on bed rest."

"Why? I'm perfectly fine just big and winded nothing I can't handle."

"Your blood pressure is through the roof, you're at risk for premature labor, and we don't want another miscarriage. You got pregnant rather early compared to most women who've had a miscarriage. I know it wasn't planned and you've been doing very well so far. All that I ask is that you don't drive, don't walk too much, and monitor your diet. Now do I need to tell Mr. Somerhalder as well?"

"No I'll listen. Anything else doc?"

"That's it. Call me if you need me day or night. Have me on speed dial."

"You didn't have to come pick me up I know you're busy."

"I'm never too busy for you Tiara when will you understand that?" Ian says looking at me once we're at a red light.

"I know but still you're a very busy man with many people depending on you."

Ian shakes his head, "And I'm the hardheaded one. Anyways, I heard from Paul today. Christian is doing very well he says he misses us and is sorry he is having so much fun. He also asks about 'the pumpkin'. "

"I'm glad he's having fun. Dr. Graham said I'm doing fine and so is he, she, or them."

"That's it?"

"That's it."

"Well a short report is better than a bad one. Do you mind if I work late Thursday? I have to go out of town this week." Ian asks as we pull into the driveway.

"Uh yeah that's fine I'll see if Tyler can come over," I practically whisper. Before Ian can answer I get out of the car and walk inside straight to the bedroom. I plop down on the bed expecting Ian to do his usual of kissing my cheek and leaving but he doesn't.

He leans back on the wall across from the bed and crosses his arms. "Do you really need him here?"

"Do you really expect me to be here by myself?"

"No but I was expecting Caitlyn not another guy especially Tyler."

"I don't see what the big deal is you can't take me along like usual so what do you want me to do? I'm tired of inconveniencing my newlywed best friend plus Tyler is already coming in town and asked if we could meet up."

Ian looks at me as if I'm crazy, "The big deal is that last time he stayed here he caused problems. You definitely can't afford to be stressed out right now."

"As much as I love my dear husband he is not going to dictate my life. We are just going to dinner probably I have no clue!"

"Don't you think it would be a smart idea to know where a person is taking you?"

"I'll be alright. I know Tyler and I can take care of myself at the end of the day."

"You weren't able to six months ago!"

Anything I was prepared to say evaporates and my mouth snaps shut. Before I can even understand what I'm thinking, I'm storming off to the bathroom with tears falling rapidly.

I slam the door and lock it, "I… Tiara I'm sorry I shouldn't ha-"

I fling the door back open and stare right into Ian's eyes, "How dare you have the fucking audacity to say that to me?"

"It just came out," He murmurs shaking his head to himself.

"Don't you ever blame me for that day! Don't blame me for getting pregnant! Don't blame me for shit because it wasn't just me! You weren't there for me! You left! You didn't save me! You didn't hear me scream! You didn't see me on that fucking floor! No matter how much you might not like it you are my damn husband today and you were six months ago! You promised me you said 'I promise to be there for you when you need me' but you weren't!"

Ian tries to pull me into his arms but I push him only an inch away so I resort to pounding on his chest. "You promised me," Squeezes through my clenched throat that's already filled with hiccups.

"Shh I know baby I'm sorry," Ian says holding me tighter. "I'm so sorry."

"Tiara and I were talking today," Is the first thing I hear in the distance when I wake up from the nap I didn't even know I was taking. I rub my stomach trying to get rid of the cramps as I head down the hall.

"Uh I mean it's fine at least I know someone will be here. Plus you got one hell of a swing so I'm sure you can protect her. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and allow you to sleep in the same room as Tiara only because she has nightmares sometimes but they're not nearly as bad if someone's there with her. Yeah… I'll arrange for my jet to pick you up… No thank you it's really a big help see you soon."

I knock on the door causing Ian to look up and smile slightly, "How did you sleep?"

"Fine I guess. Why are you still here?"

"I didn't want to leave you so I just worked from home nothing major."

"Oh okay well thanks."

"Mhm and I just got off the phone with Tyler he should be here by Thursday since I'm leaving Friday morning."

"Alright um thank you I know you didn't enjoy talking to him."

"He was rather… cordial. On to more important things what would you like to eat beautiful? I'm in the mood for Italian."

Thursday, July 14, 2016

After sitting in the house all day I finally manage to put some clothes on. I look at the clock and see it's 6:36PM telling me Ian is almost an hour late. I decide to make a surprise visit since I know if I tell him I'm coming he will tell me to stay home.

I'm about five minutes away when I finally decide to call Ian, "I hope you're ready to come home."

"I guess so. I hope you feel special Mrs. Somerhalder because no one gets to see me without an appointment."

"I feel quite special knowing that Mr. Somerhalder. I'm pulling into the parking lot now."

"Alright I'm already in the elevator. I love you."

"I love you too. See you in two seconds."

Point of View: Ian Somerhalder

I tap my foot along with the dings of every passing floor but stop when I come to a screeching halt at the tenth. I wait for it to start again but the lights shut off making the emergency generator kick in.

I hit the emergency button making a voice fill up the little box, "We are searching for the problem, but there doesn't seem to be one. Are you the only one in the building?"

"I would believe so custodians don't come until seven on the dot."

"Hmm that's strange the power was manually shut off but now the system says that something has interrupted the connection as if a line was cut or faulty wiring maybe."

"Well could you get me the hell out of here?"

"Once a threat has been detected in the building the elevator practically locks for safety since it's almost impenetrable making it the safest place to be. It will drop to the basement where you should be able to get out. If that doesn't happen, the team I sent will be alerted to come in. You'll be out soon Mr. Somerhalder."

"Than-" The emergency lighting goes out and it feels as if the building begins to shake more and more violently. The elevator drops making me fall to the floor and the only thing I think of is to call Tiara.

Point of View: Tiara Somerhalder

I check myself in the mirror then get out of the car. My hand rests on the door as I look up in sky. Everything slows down as I watch a small white tube rush to the top floor exactly where Ian's office is located. It seems like the building isn't harmed at all until a stream of explosions go off hitting every floor making the building slowly crumble to the ground.

This can't be real.

"Ma'am we have to get you out of here."

I turn around to see a firefighter holding out his hand. "I- My husband is in there I can't leave him! You have to save him!" As soon as the words leave my mouth I completely break down. Memories of seeing Ian hooked up to machines flood my mind. I fall back on the car not able to support myself.

You're all alone again.

"I have my men looking for him right now. Do you know where he was?"

"He was in the elevator that's all I know."

"Good that helps us out with finding him. C'mon let me get you out of here. You're pregnant you shouldn't be here."

Thoughts of being all alone while having to raise my children makes me go ballistic. I cry even harder staring at the fire watching yellow suits run around in slow motion.

"You have to calm down!" The firefighter grabs my arms but I push him away.

All of a sudden, a heart stopping pain shoots through my stomach. I bend over while wrapping my arms around myself. I hear shouting then I'm looking up at the smoky sky flying by. A clear mask is put on my face and that's when I finally decide to look down at my legs only to see a woman putting her hand up my dress then coming out with blood on her hand.

She looks at the other woman, "She's losing the baby."

Review and all that good stuff please and thank you! :)
