AN: So, as I'm writing this, I've decided to also rewatch the movie. Only to my horror discover that Netflix recently removed it and only has the series available. Currently checking to see if its on Hulu. And that's a no to it being on Hulu. Now I'm going to check amazon prime video, hopefully they have it cause I wanna be able to add in more details that I might not have when making this before. Okay its on amazon prime but I can't watch it in my current location. Time to try Disney plus since it was on Disney channel. Not on there either. What's the deal? I literally saw it on Netflix beside the show like last week. Guess I'll have to watch it on YouTube. And by that, I mean, I'm going to buy the movie if I can. This is so stupid ha-ha. Anyways, disclaimer: I don't own MBAV even though I wish I did. If I did, we wouldn't have been left on such a big cliffhanger and would have at least gotten a conclusion.

Chapter 2 – School

Today is the first day of school, I'm so happy. Not. What made matters worse was that it seemed like everyone in the school was watching the trailer for the new dusk movie. Again, how can anyone like that stupid movie? Don't get me wrong, I won't belittle you for watching. I just don't want to see it, hear it, or have people talk about it to me. 'oh, it's so romantic I wish something like that would happen to me.' Ugh. I don't believe in that kind of stuff. Vampires and the supernatural and whatnot. And even if I did, I'm realistic enough to know its not all rainbows and sunshine and love. If I met a vampire in real life well, they'd probably try to kill me before they tried to romance me. Looking around at everyone I rolled my eyes and focused back on my group of nerds, my brother and Ethan.

"a babysitter? For you? What?" benny said laughing as we are walking into the school and down the hallway. Ethan tried to shush him, but the words were already out of Bennys mouth.

"keep it down man. This kind of info can totally ruin a guys rep." Ethan said glancing around, probably making sure no one heard them. I laughed at patted Ethan on his shoulder.

"what rep Ethan? You and benny are known as nerds. It was like that in middle school, highly doubt that'll change in high school. No offence, but its true." I said shrugging. Benny and Ethan both looked at me with glares on their faces. I made a face, "oops."

"Anyways," Ethan started, drawing out the word. "its not for me, it's for jane."

"technically for you too. Since you didn't do that good of a job watching her last time we were over. Honestly, your parents probably gave you a lesser punishment because of the fact that she wasn't out there alone." I said looking at them.

"and look on the positive side, e, one of these primo high school babes could totally be at your house tonight." Benny said as he looked at some girls who walked past. "hey hot stuff," he said to them. They didn't even look at him, they all just kept going like they didn't even notice him. Why he tries, ill never know. Ill also never know how he got such confidence to be able to even say something along those lines to anyone he finds attractive. I can barely say anything to Ethan about me liking him, and its been years that we've been friends. Like, so not fair.

"dude," Ethan said as he hit benny in the chest and I wacked him upside the head.

"rude."

"uh, ow!"

"oh, quit the whining playboy." I rolled my eyes at him. "if you wanna act like the ladies' man you claim to be, maybe wearing stripped hoodies isn't the best choice for attire?" I said grinning at him.

"oh please, sis. I know for a fact that you like it when a certain someone wears their hoodies. Whose to say there isn't someone out there who will like my stripped ones. Also, keep your hands out of my closet, hoodie stealer." Benny said pointing to the hoodie I was wearing. I'll admit it, I steal his hoodies. They are comfy! And I do it to make it seem like the one time I took Ethan's was totally not cause I liked him, when it was. Ethan looked over at me with this weird look in his eyes when benny said that I liked it when someone else was wearing hoodies. What is that look? Ethan shook his head and sighed.

"all I know is her name is erica and she goes to this school. With any luck I can talk my parents out of it by tonight." I looked at him and grimaced.

"you really think you can get them to rethink the babysitter thing?"

"I can try."

"hey principal hicks, let me give you a hand." I heard a voice say not that far from us making me look over. There was the principle, putting up posters and there was Jesse, popular drama kid, offering to help with said posters. Wait, the jerk from last night is on those posters. Those are missing posters. Oh my god I think I'm going to be sick. Was it getting hot in here? Were the walls closing in? the walls are totally closing in. why are there so many people around. Oh my god. Before I could spiral any further into the panic induce asthma attack, I grabbed my inhaler out of my bag and took at couple breaths of the sweet medication that makes it so I can breathe again. Oh jeez. Breathing back to normal, heart still racing, I looked back up at where the principal and Jesse were.

"oh, thank you Jesse, much better." The principle said. I took a glance at Jesse, now I'm not going to sit here and say that I'm not attracted to him. He's hot, but I currently have my eyes set on someone else. And until I hear that boy say he doesn't like me or that he has a crush on someone else, I'm not going to try for anyone else. Pathic I know.

"anything for our fearless leader." Jesse said as he sniffed the principles coffee. Okay kind of weird. I mean I sniff my own coffee but that's my own coffee. You don't see me over here sniffing someone elses coffee, do you? No. that's weird. I made a face at looked at the guys and noticed that they had stopped talking and were also watching the weird fest going on. "do you mind?" he asked right before he took a sip. Okay ew gross. That's, I. ew.

"oh ew, why would you drink someone elses coffee. A friends I understand but the principles. Gross." I made a face, scrunched my nose up, and could've sworn I saw Jesse glance over and smirk.

"ah French roast." At least the principal has good tastes?

"French roast." The principal said, all trance like and monotone. Creepy. Remind me to never get coffee at the place he goes.

"good choice." Uh.

"good choice." Uh. Why is the principal repeating the same words as Jesse? That's creepy. Jesse handed the coffee back to him. As Jesse and his little gang left, they walked past us. Jesse looked at us and raised his eyebrows. Did he? Did he just? He did. He winked at me with that little grinning smirk. Uh should I be flattered that an upperclassman winked at me? "boys in drama club always making a scene," I heard the principal say, bringing my attention back to him as he started to laugh. For some reason, benny too started laughing. Ethan just smiled and I just stared.

Lunch couldn't have come faster. I was starving, and then immediately lost my appetite. What are they trying to feed us? This looks like slop. Gross. I got a tray anyways cause I knew benny would eat it in addition to his own. I also grabbed some fruit and chips, so id at least have something in my stomach for the rest of the day. I was stood a bit in front of my brother and glanced back at him when I heard Ethan calling his name. and typical benny, hypnotized by the food, all he did was grunt.

"this is it. Our future social lives could depend on the way we behave these next few days." Ethan said grabbing a tray. I looked over at benny and saw him putting on his stupid goggles.

"I do believe that means no stupid nerd stuff, right? Including state of the art alien DNA goggle things." I said drawing Ethan's attention to me. I immediately pointed to benny.

"blah blah," benny said as he turned around to face Ethan. "what do you think?"

"benny!" Ethan panic whisper screamed while grabbing the goggles and taking them off of benny.

"hey!"

"what?"

"the high school cafeteria is the ideal place to test them out. And for the record sis, they are state of the art alien DNA detection goggles. They are super cool." Benny said pointing at me. I laughed and moved along the line. I did not want to be involved in this dork fight I feel a brewing.

"yeah and brand us as dorks for the next four years. Out of the three of us, I think Katie is going to have an easier time not being labeled a dork. She's attractive and doesn't act like us or, or Rory. Everyone's going to want to have her in their clique. I feel it." Ethan said holding the goggles to his chest. I stopped all movement; I think I even stopped breathing. Did Ethan really just admit he finds me attractive? Is it hot in here? When I finally was able to move again, I looked away from my best friend and brother.

"ignoring the fact, you just said my sister was hot, give me the goggles." Benny said as he grabbed the goggles and started to pull.

"no"

"give me the goggles."

"promise to be cool?"

"okay," benny said something else after that, but I couldn't quite make it out. I looked back at them and saw that they were still fighting over those stupid goggles.

"hey you guys. Hey over here." Oh no. I know that voice, Rory. Sweet sweet, dorky Rory.

"Rory," benny said scrunching up his face while Ethan looked down.

"the three amigos ride again," I looked over at Rory. In all honesty, if anyone were to make Ethan and benny branded as dorks forever, it'd be Rory. And knowing my reluctance to branch out and make new friends, I too would be branded a dork. "any of yous got a buck 28?" I sighed and walked over to Rory, handing him $2.

"you owe me Rory; I'll add it to the tab I'm keeping." I say to him. He nods his head in thanks and I turn around to get my tray just in time to see Ethan, probably in a hurry to get away from Rory, bump into this pretty girl. Well, I was wrong. It was Ethan to brand us. Poor girl is covered in mystery lunch thanks to Ethan.

"dork! Thank you soooo much," and she just lost beauty points for me. How rude. Maybe if she too was paying attention, she could've prevented that from happening. Ugh. And I think Ethan likes her. He's just standing there staring at her walk away. I walked up to Ethan after grabbing my tray at the same time benny did.

"that is one babetastic tower of babealon," what? Me and Ethan looked over at benny, who put his goggles back on.

"you are such a dork benny," I said rolling my eyes and looking around for a place to sit at.

"what? You are too!"

"by association, only."

"yeah, well people are going to see you with us and consider you just as social awkward and nerdy as us, so ha!" benny said as he took his goggles off and pointed at me.

"stick that finger in my face again and ill bite it off," benny quickly held his finger and hand to his chest with a hurt look on his face. "besides, I don't care what people think. Let them think whatever they want to. I don't need any new friends, especially if all they are going to do is bash you guys. The friends I have now, which is you two, are the most awesome people I know." I said rolling my eyes and looking at the guys. Ethan looked like he was blushing, and benny rolled his eyes while a grin formed on his face. Being the touchy-feely person I am, I pulled them into a group hug. Which they did not fight at all.

"way to turn a fight into a moment, Katie." Ethan said, blush still on his face.

"eh, it's what I do. The power of love baby!" I said sticking my arm in the air with a laugh, making the guys laugh with me. "now let's find a seat, hopefully without Rory. All summer the dudes been trying to get with me, it's kind of creepy."

"and he's lucky he's still alive." Benny said, a dark look passing his eyes before it went away as we found a seat. We had a nice moment without being bothered before, to all of our horror, Rory sat down with us. I chose to ignore him and actually attempted to eat, it wasn't as bad as it looked but the way it looked was making my stomach hurt so I moved onto my fruit and chips. As we were all enjoying our food, I heard a gasp and looked up at benny who was looking at another table that was behind us.

"no way, that babe you branded is friends with her?" we all looked over to the table benny was looking at and there was the cute but rude girl Ethan ran into earlier. And she was sitting with someone who looked normal.

"who? Stage one dusker girl?" oh god. I swear. Ethan looked back at benny.

"her name is erica and she's the princess leia to my Han solo," benny said as Ethan and I tried not to laugh.

"wow that was so cheesy in a dorkable way. My brothers in love!" I said pinching his cheeks.

"again ow," he said pushing my hands away and focusing on Ethan. "maybe she's your babysitter today." Benny said. Ethan was still laughing.

"first in no universe are you Han and I doubt it's the same erica."

"nuhh, you're right. Probably to good to be true." I rolled my eyes again, I do that a lot around these boys, and picked up my tray along with theirs. When I get to the trash, one of the guys that were with Jesse earlier came up to me.

"hey there beautiful. Why are you sitting with those losers?" he said nodding over at them. I looked back at the table to see that Rory is now wearing Benny's alien DNA goggles and benny getting up. "why don't you drop them and come spend the rest of lunch with me and my friends? Oh, and here let me help you with that." He grabbed the trays out of my hands and threw the garbage away for me.

"why are you talking to a girl who is friends with said dorks? And related. Kinda runs in the blood." I said and then smacked my arm, forgetting that I was no longer wearing the borrowed hoodie from benny. So, when I smacked my arm, skin on skin contact. I knew I should've worn my long sleeved unus annus shirt and not my short sleeved now or never shirt. "oww, bad idea, that hurt. Why'd I hit it so hard," I mumbled as I rubbed my arm and the guy laughed.

"how about this, you sit with us on Monday?" why does he want me to sit with them so bad? wasn't he like, popular or something? I looked at him and shrugged, telling him maybe and that ill think about it before I headed back over to the table. Ethan immediately stood up and met me right at the edge of the table, concern on his face.

"hey, are you okay? Did that drama kid hurt you?" he said looking at where I was still rubbing my arm and starting to reach out. I laughed at pushed his hands away.

"I'm fine. I just slapped myself on the arm forgetting I wasn't wearing the hoodie anymore. And using a lot more force than necessary." I explained as we sat back down. "it still stings, why did I do that." I mumbled to myself.

"oh, well what did he want anyways?"

"he wanted to know why I was sitting with a bunch of dorks when I could be sitting with them and invited me to join them for lunch on Monday." I shrugged and looked up at benny as he came back from wherever it was he went.

"yes, I think she likes me." He said sitting down. "I think she likes me."

"wh-what? Wait why?" Ethan looked back over to the girls and then back to benny covering his face from their view.

"you're being babysat by a dusker. I heard fans of dusk are so lame." Rory said. I snorted and thought to myself; 'you're so lame.'

"yeah you should talk, you still sleep in starship enterprise jammies." Ethan said causing me to laugh loudly. I put my hand over my mouth in an attempt at being quiet. Rory glared at Ethan and me.

"stop laughing. Dusk is based on fairytale creatures. Star trek is based on actual physics."

"true," benny said looking down at the table. "but hey, if fairytales is what it takes to nab my future wife then once upon a time, I'm in!" I dropped my head onto the table with a loud thud. Cute as it was, it was still weird to hear from my own brothers' mouth.

When school was finally over, I met up with the guys at the entrance and we made our way out.

"hey, check it out," benny said while looking at his phone. "looks like they found the rest of that missing senior." Hearing that I tried to get closer to see what was on benny screen. Only problem was that Ethan was in between us, so I ended up practically on top of him.

"the rest?" Ethan asked as he glanced over at me, still trying to see the dang phone.

"yeah, says right here that he was all shriveled up."

"okay, that's gross. And practically impossible." I said backing off of Ethan, who I noticed looked like he was blushing. Was he okay? I hope he wasn't getting sick. I looked back at benny about to say something when I noticed that he was drinking out of a juice box. "a juice box? Really?"

"what? I'm thirsty okay? And also, the kid looked kind of like this juice box," benny held up the juice box for me and Ethan to see and squeezed it. Making juice go all over Ethan and me to giggle a little.

"dude"

"sorry," benny said attempting to drinking what was left in the juice box. He glanced up and put the drink down. "oh bummer, looks like she's already hooked up with mister to cool for school." I looked over to where he was looking and saw the pretty and rude girl having what looked like an argument with Jesse.

"it doesn't look like they are having a nice conversation though." I mused. Just then Rory came up to us.

"did somebody mention my name?" Rory said putting him arms over mine and Benny's shoulders. I push his arm off of me and switched places with Ethan, causing Rory to simply put his arm over Ethan's shoulder instead.

"no. no one mentioned your name. in fact, we try really hard not to say it or imply it at all." I said looking back at what most definitely a fight.

"its to late to turn back now," I overheard Jesse say. Turn back from what? A bad relationship? It's always the perfect time to do that. Shortly after he said that, erica walked up to them. She held onto Sarah's arm and said something I'm not able to hear. Realizing I wasn't going to be able to hear anymore of the convo I turned back to the boys only to find that they were all still staring.

"you know what, I'm gunna go," I heard and looked back at the group to see pretty but rude walking away with a look on her face that screamed she was angry but also upset.

"dusk forever?!" erica all but shout out after her. Seriously, what was up with these fricking dusk movies? I mean vampires, if they were real, would be pretty cool. But they would not sparkle. To quote one of my favorite books; 'vampires, after all, don't sparkle.' (if anyone knows what book series this is from, I will love you forever, no lie.)

"somethings not right with that drama club," Ethan said looking over at benny. I stood in front of the guys with my hands out in front of me.

"they wear all black, okay? No listen to me," I said when they gave me looks. "they wear all black, really only interact with each other. AND has no one noticed the fact that they wear sunglasses? Like usually only outside or when its sunny? And not even the kind of sunny that makes you wish you had sunglasses. They always wear sunglasses outside. It's like they can't stand the sun or something. Like vampires!" I clapped my hands together and looked back at the drama club. They were all getting into their car and waiting for Jesse to get in. but for some reason Jesse was standing there. Staring over at us, grinning. At me. I could've sworn he was giving me a look that said, 'you have no idea how right you are,' before he finally got in the car. I looked back at the guys with my eyes wide. "did ya'll see that?!" I yelled pointing at where Jesse stood moments ago.

"see what? My sister go crazy talking about vampires as if they were real? If that's what you meant, then yes. We did. On another note, Ethan, I am so going over to your house tonight." I rolled my eyes.

"I was only joking around but now I'm not so sure. That was creepy. And they want me to sit with them on Monday." I said as I smacked benny on the back of the head with a frown.

"well, great! The more mathletes the merrier," Ethan said grumpily. Rory perked up and looked at all of us.

"Can I come?"

"no!" Ethan, benny and I shouted at the same time. We started walking when I tried to pick up from where I left off earlier, my thoughts still racing.

"no, that Jesse dude-" I heard honking and turned towards it to see a car racing towards me. In my freak out I jumped out of the way and into Ethan, who caught me. I looked at the car and saw Jesse and the drama club.

"watch it nerds! And keep an eye on the lady, never know who might try to hurt her." My eyes got wide. Did I just get threatened?

"do I still join them for lunch on Monday?" I whispered under my breath. Shaking my head, I turned towards the guys. "well, I'm going to head home now, before I die. Ill see you later, e?"

"huh? You're coming over with benny?" he asked looking up at me.

"yeah. I mean I can come over earlier if you want? Before benny and the babysitter, who's for jane, shows up. We could do some homework or something?" I asked. He nodded his head in affirmative before looking down. Was he blushing again? Nah. He must be getting sick or something. His face has been getting red a lot today. Maybe I should make him some soup, just in case he is getting sick. With a nod and finger guns I separate myself from the dorks and head home, knowing they are going to take their sweet time and talk about dorky things that I don't know and don't care about.
