So so sorry about the wait! I have been so busy! I lost my job so ive been on the hunt looking for one which is cutting into my writing time. that and I'm honestly starting to run low on ideas on what could happen next. But this chapter is finally done! Yay!
Anywas, here's chapter 12
Chapter 12: Snow's Solo Mission
My eye never left the little leaf as me and my friends studied it.
"So," Aurora started. "What do you think it is, Snow?"
I looked at her, then around at my friends. "To tell the truth, I've got a pretty strong feeling it's a leaf from the Alaskan tundra."
"How do you figure that?" Solar asked.
"I 'figure' that because my dad once took me to Alaska for some father-daughter time so that he could teach me to control my powers over winter. I remember seeing these leaves there." I answered. "If my hunch is correct, Angel Moon had either been there before she confronted us or her hideout is there."
"Her hideout?" Dusty asked. "But she didn't look like she was immune to cold like you and your dad."
I nodded. "True, but remember when the Guardians told us about the battle against Pitch?" Everyone (except the three seasonals) nodded. I continued. "Well, remember what my dad said?"
"Didn't he say that Pitch had confronted him there and tried to get him on his side?" Cloud questioned.
I nodded. "Well, I figured if Pitch could survive freezing temperatures coupled with facing my dad, the embodiment of winter itself, then why can't Angel Moon?"
Everyone's eyes widened. "You're right!" Taylor exclaimed. I smiled.
"We've got to tell the Guardians!" Saige shouted and everyone ran to the main room where the Guardians were resting. I, however, stayed behind.
"Dusty," I said, grabbing her arm. "I need your help."
"With what?" She asked.
"We don't have time to wait on the older Guardians." I stated. "We know where Angel is. We can take her on and end this now."
"I don't know about that, Snow." Dusty said, uneasiness in her voice.
I sighed. "Dusty, I need your help. I want to take on Angel and save our parents but you know I can't fly on the wind like my parents. I need you to fly me there."
Dusty looked at me, uneasiness still clear in her twilight blue eyes. She sighed. "Nothing I say is going to change your mind, is it?" I shook my head. Dusty sighed again. "Alright. I'll take you to Alaska. Just let me get bundled up. I'm not cold-proof like you are."
I smiled and nodded. "Thanks a lot, Dusty." She smiled a little and walked up the stairs to where North kept coats for the rest of the Guardians and us kids (except, obviously, me and my dad).
20 minutes later, Dusty and I were on her sand copter heading for Alaska. I looked out the side and smiled. It had been at least 5 years since I'd been there. I would've gone more often if I could actually fly on the wind but the dumb wind still wouldn't listen to me like it did my parents.
Since Alaska is close to the North Pole, it only took us maybe an hour or so by riding in Dusty's copter. As Dusty landed, I gazed across the tundra, looking for anything that might stand out, but I saw nothing from where I was.
Once we'd landed and exited the copter, which evaporated and flew back to Dusty as violet sand, I saw Dusty start to shiver. As much as I wanted to take Angel out, I knew we couldn't stay out in this cold for maybe an hour or less or Dusty would freeze to death. Aunt Song, Uncle Sandy, Mom and Dad would kill me if that happened.
We started looking around. About 15 minutes after we'd gotten here, I saw, through the snow, something that looked like plant life. Once we got closer, I saw that it was a group of the Alaskan leaves I'd found back at the North Pole. I smiled.
"Dust, these are it."
Dusty looked closer at me. "Are you sure, Snow?"
I nodded and looked ahead. "My dad made me memorize the layout of this place since we visit so much. I know these are it."
Dusty nodded slowly, though she looked a little skeptical.
My eyes narrowed as what appeared to be a building came into view. "That's gotta be it!" I yelled.
"What are you two brats doing here?" I looked up and saw the Mistress of Deception herself floating in the sky above us. "How did you find me?"
I held up the plant I'd found, resisting the urge to roll my eyes. "You left this behind. I know what kind of plant this is and figured that you were here."
Angel Moon growled and from the look on her face, I was starting to regret taunting her. "Shut your mouth you disrespectful little twerp."
I smirked a little. "Why should I? You are not the one in charge here. You're threatening my family and I do not like it one bit. You're going to answer for what you've done to them."
Angel looked like she was really angry now, which was something I was beginning to have mixed feelings about. My little attitude just now was definitely from both Mom and Dad. Angel swooped down and attacked, catching me off guard. I flew back, landing hard on my back.
Dusty's whips were out faster than I had ever seen and attacking Angel almost as soon as she had knocked me back. Angel turned towards her and, just like she had with me, used her powers to knock Dusty back as well.
I clenched my left hand around my staff and attacked Angel with a barrage of ice and water. She dodged the attack quicker than I thought was possible and disappeared. Dusty and I looked around for her, but to no avail.
"Snow, watch out!" Dusty shouted, pointing behind me. I turned, a little too late, as Angel grabbed the arm my staff was held in. In one swift motion, my arm was twisted until it snapped. My staff slipped from limp fingers as I screamed in pain. I glared up at Angel, a combination of hate and pain spread across my face.
Through the haze of pain, I heard Dusty's shout and consequent attack. But she was knocked back again. I couldn't really register what happened after that. What I ended up being aware of next was Dusty wrapping a sling around my shoulder to hold up my broken arm. I looked up at her, still disoriented from pain. "Ow, what happened?" I asked.
"Angel for one thing." Dusty replied. She tightened the sling, which sent pain through my arm. I winced. "I think you're arm's broken, though. This is the best that can be done until we get you back to the Pole."
"But Angel…"
"Don't worry." Dusty said, leaning me back to rest my head on the snow. "You could say she's a little occupied."
"For how long?" I asked weakly.
"Well…" Dusty paused, why I couldn't tell. "…until the calvary arrives."
"Huh?!" I looked up to a blurry red spot coming at us, one I was pretty sure I knew.
"Hey cuz!" Blaze exclaimed, coyly.
"You…" I murmured, irritably, as the pain caused me to finally lose what little consciousness I had been grasping at.
So, was this okay? MistyLilyValley helped me with the end of this chapter but all in all, pretty interesting right? I'm hopin it wont be so long for the next chapter. I'm already getting started.
