Chapter Seven

Part 2

"Damon had also created his mate the same way Asteria made hers, but much less powerful than her mate. They do not harvest much magic, but they are still strong. The vampires that are considered folklore to humans are the ones from Damon's side. They cannot be in sunlight, they are easily killed by a stake to their hearts, and they do not have powers like us.

Asteria and her mate could control vampires with their powers. Over time, vampires were taught how to manage their thirst. We were able to live peacefully among humans for hundreds of years. There came a time where we had to hide, and those in Damon's line were constricted to only night-time while Asteria's line was able to blend in with humans. The only way to tell the difference between both vampires is their beauty. The ones from Asteria's line become extraordinarily beautiful, no matter what they had looked like before.

The vampires from Damon's line was jealous that Asteria's line of vampires had magical powers and did not burn from the sunlight. Asteria knew there was a war coming, so she created a spell that would preserve her abilities and knowledge to pass on to a soul that would match hers if she died.

Eight-hundred years later, there was a rift among the vampires. Carlisle fell in love with a vampire by the name of Siobhan. She was beyond beautiful with long flowing red hair like my Victoria. The only problem was she was created from Damon's line.

When Carlisle was looking for a way to make her not burn in sunlight, he stumbled upon a plan by Asteria and her mate. They wanted to cause mass genocide that would obliterate Damon's line and have a governing system to control both magical and non-magical beings."

"So, they wanted to rule the world? What does this have to do with me?" I was ready to bolt out of this house.

"We are getting there. Carlisle left Asteria and her mate with a plan to destroy them before they could rule the world.

Carlisle and Siobhan found my brother and me when we were just human boys. There was a small civil war in our town that killed our parents. We were treated like their children. Once we were old enough, Carlisle turned us. Years later, I found my mate Victoria. Carlisle created more and more of us until he had a whole army. They taught us how to use the powers bestowed upon us and to protect all magical beings.

Fifty years later, we went to war with Asteria and her mate. They were able to destroy almost all the beings that Carlisle created as well as Siobhan. We were able to destroy Asteria, but her mate lived and captured Carlisle. To this day, we still don't know if he is dead or alive. We went into hiding, licking our wounds, and mourning the loss of our parents.

Two years ago, my brother and I were able to find out where Asteria's mate was hiding. We planned on destroying Asteria's mate, but it turned out we woke him from a deep slumber. He now has my brother, and we now have his mate." James leaned back against the chair and looked at me intensely.

"And you think it is me," I snarled.

"Oh no, my dear, it is you. When Asteria died, our powers weakened, but ever since the first time you used yours, our full strength has returned."

"You still haven't answered the question, why am I here?" I shouted.

"You have Asteria's soul in you. Her mate is your mate. Only you have the power to destroy him."

"What the fuck are you talking about? You are fucking crazy!" I grabbed my car keys from the kitchen counter and headed for the foyer. "I can't believe I listened to this crap," I mumbled to myself.

"Please, just stop!" James shouted while grabbing my arm. I pulled out of his grasp. He went flying across the room and landed hard on the floor.

"Oh my god!" I cried out.

"You need to learn to control your powers, or you're good as dead," Tanya said as she walked into the foyer.

"You are our last hope." Victoria looked up at me from her crouched position next to James.

"I'm…I'm sorry."

"You won't do this alone, Bella," James said, rising to stand. "We can help you."

I can't believe I agreed to this.

"Okay, I'll stay." I agreed.

For now.

Let me know what you think!
