As always, if you forgot what happened before, go back a chapter and read it again!

Sorry for the longish wait. My life is a mess right now and I am really struggling to get things done. Trying my best so please don't hate me :)

It was several moments before anyone spoke.

"What the HELL was that for?" Henry asked outraged.

"He asked me to" Charlie snapped sharply.

"Who was he talking to?" Gus asked quietly.

"Usually the only one who gets that reaction is Ross, although he said 'them' so I can only guess that Ross and someone else was ganging up on him"

"About what?"

Charlie sighed, "Could be anything. His hallucinations are part of his subconscious so any insecurities he has can be forced upon him"

Henry seemed to accept this information but didn't like seeing his son lying on the floor and asked if he could move him to the bed. Charlie immediately agreed and they worked together to move him on to the bed.

Henry smiled slightly as he rearranged the cushions and had to remove several small toys from his son's childhood. It wasn't a big bed but it just fit Shawn's crumpled form in the covers. Henry gave one last look before he lead the way downstairs, leaving his son in peace.

"We've got four hours until he wakes up, let's leave him to rest"

"Hours?" Henry repeated surprised. "In that case I should probably catch up on some paper work while I can"

"I'll stay here" Charlie volunteered.

"I'll get some food" Gus told them before he opened Henry's fridge and finding it basically empty.

"What are we having?" Charlie asked.

Gus shrugged, "Sandwiches?"

Henry nodded, "Sounds good"

Nothing else need be said as they all departed their separate ways. Shawn was left lying unconscious in his bedroom and Charlie was quick to find a book from Henry's shelves and sat reading whilst sipping the tea she made herself. Gus took the blueberry to the nearest supermarket to gather food. He made sure to get a mixture of fillings and enough bread so they could have many each.

Henry took his own car and raced to the station. His presence did not go unnoticed but no one dared approach him as the anger was evident on his face. He understood the circumstances but he didn't think he could quite forgive Charlie yet for knocking his son unconscious with drugs. He quickly distracted himself with paperwork as there was always something to be doing, forms that needed signing.

He barely noticed when the Chief, Karen, his best friend came up to him.

"I heard you were here" she grinned. "Where's Shawn?"

A pause.

"What's wrong?"

"He's unconscious" Henry struggled, "Charlie had to sedate him"

Karen frowned, Shawn had seemed fine earlier. "Why? What happened?"

"He had an… episode. The excitement of today wasn't good for him..."

"Excitement?"

"Of the case" Henry explained, "Part of his diagnosis means he is mildly sociopathic. He must have enjoyed it… in a very…very sick way"

Karen was lost for words and wasn't sure she could say anything to make her friend feel any better. She swallowed.

"He'll be ok henry. Now go back to him. You've only got this week remember" she reminded him gently.

Henry looked up from his huge pile of paperwork,

"Yeah" Henry choked, suddenly realising that he did only have this one week to spend fully with his son. "I've got a few hours before he gets up. Charlie's with him and Gus is getting food. I'm just gonna try and get ahead on this paperwork so I don't spend all of next week with my head buried"

Karen studied his face intently, "Ok, but don't stay too late" she warned him gently.

Henry nodded in reply and looked back at his work. It was stupid the amount of work ahead detective had to go through. It never seemed to end. Henry had volunteered to take the extra work when he became head detective but right now, staring at the huge pile and wanting to spend time with his son, he was very much regretting that decision.

"Uh… Detective Spencer?" a voice interrupted.

Henry turned slightly to find the person belonging to that voice. He could have recognised it anywhere.

"Call me Henry" Henry tiredly smiled, "What can I do for you?"

"I…Where's Shawn?"

"Sleeping" Henry replied sharply and Buzz understood very clearly he was not to expand on that line of questioning.

"Well…. I am working on a case with Juliet and Carlton… you know, the one with the guy who burns his girlfriends?"

Henry's eyes widened in interest, knowing only too well which case he was on about.

"Shawn suggested searching the night clubs which I think is a great idea because who better to give us an insight than an actual sociopath?"

"Excuse me" he was interrupted by a cold stare. "My son is not a sociopath"

Buzz stammered, intimidated by Henry. "I… Carlton said…."

"Carlton?" he cursed before standing up to level with Buzz. "He has mild sociopathic tendencies, mostly when he is annoyed or angry. He is not a blood sociopath with no feelings" He told Buzz, with a low tone of voice which made Buzz nod in anticipation.

"Ok Sir, Sorry Sir." Buzz murmured in apology.

Henry only sighed and motioned for him to continue with his point.

"I want to follow this up and there are three main ones but they said we don't have the man power"

Henry held up a hand to interrupt, "I think you're forgetting something"

"What?"

"You are a detective now. You can go up to any of the officers and get them to do what you want. Even you could go to all three and give them a picture of this guy, tell them to ring you immediately if they see him"

Buzz's eyes brightened in realisation, there were all sorts of perks of being a detective that he hadn't discovered yet.

"That's a great idea Sir, thank you!"

Henry chuckled, "its Henry Buzz"

"Sorry Sir" Buzz automatically apologised, "I mean Henry"

Henry smiled and watched the eager young detective rush off. He turned back to his work, distracted with news of the case he knew that he wouldn't be able to work anymore. He looked at the clock on the wall and immediately panicked. Surely his son would have woken up by now? He cursed silently to himself and immediately packed up his belongings and rushed down to his car.

Shawn was awake. He had actually been awake quite a while now, for at least twenty minutes but didn't go downstairs.

It was a shock to find himself in his own room. It made him feel like a child again, part of him still expected to go down stairs, eat breakfast and run to catch the bus to school. School, he hadn't been there in a long time. It took him a few moments to remember why he was there but he only remembered too clearly why he was waking while the sun was still setting. Funnily enough he didn't feel rested; he knew from past experiences that being sedated and being asleep were very different things. He felt unbelievably tired but his mind was clear.

He quickly checked the room for any 'unwanted visitors' and was relieved to find that he was alone, though he could hear the gentle murmur from the televisions screen yet he was unable to figure out what they were watching. He didn't want to go downstairs. He had an episode in front of both of them. He wasn't too worried about how Gus would react. Gus had seen it before, twice since he started visiting but it was Henry who hadn't seen it before and Shawn was scared to see how he would react. From what Shawn could remember, his expression was a mixture of shock and pity, neither of which he wanted from his father.

He was broken out of his thoughts by his stomach making a ferocious growl.

Furrowing his brow in annoyance he rolled out of his bed and grabbed his small alarm clock. The gesture gave him a strange sense of déjà vu as it was one he had done every day as a small child.

It was 7:14pm.

As he drew his arm back his eyes flickered to the white band on his wrist that labelled him as an official patient of West Haven. Shawn hated it as it made it seem like something was wrong with him and there wasn't. It was just the way he was. Though Shawn did understand why it was there, what if he had had an episode in front of a load of witnesses and worked himself up into such a state that someone had called an ambulance after he had a panic attack and passed out. Then they would know.

As much as Shawn wanted to just lie back down and sleep he knew he would have to go downstairs and eat something with the others. He remembered Charlie's specific rules about at least three meals a day while he was released otherwise he had to go back to West Haven. Charlie rarely joked about a serious matter and he didn't exactly want to find out.

Shawn crept downstairs slowly avoiding the second to last step that creaked. He quickly spotted Gus standing there in the kitchen unloading shopping supplies and checking the bread for mould.

"Hey buddy! What we having?"

Gus jumped slightly and smiled.

"Sandwiches" Gus told him back before showing him the display of bread that cluttered the work tops.

"Good, I'm starved" Shawn replied, "Want any help?"

Gus surveyed his work surface and nodded, "You can do the drinks?"

"Sure" Shawn agreed before beginning to search the cupboards for glasses. He quickly found them in the cupboard above his head and placed them on the rectangular table.

"What have we got?" Shawn asked.

"Uh… there is squash in the cupboard and juice and milk in the fridge. Beer too." Gus answered back before thinking again, "I think there's some pop too somewhere"

Shawn nodded and walked to the fridge. He grabbed the apple juice and poured a glass for Charlie, she loved the stuff and put it back in the fridge.

"What do you want?"

"Uh….juice is fine." Gus agreed as he spread butter onto another slice of bread.

Shawn reached back for the apple juice and filled up the second glass. He returned it to the fridge and used the tap to fill up another glass full of water for himself. This just left his dad. From what Shawn could remember, his dad liked beer, but his dad had no reason to drown himself in alcohol now did he? He was home after all. What if he doesn't even want a beer? Or doesn't like juice? Perhaps he should just leave it. But what if he was then offended that everyone else had a drink but him?

Shawn shook his head; he was over thinking this way too much.

Shawn crouched down and opened the cupboard containing the squash. There was apple and blackcurrant and orange left. The orange was nearly finished and Shawn presumed that was because his father drunk a lot of it. Taking note that it was double concentrate he poured some into the bottom of the glass before he filled it with water.

"So who was it this time?" Gus asked, continuing to put the sandwiches on separate plates. "Ross?"

Shawn froze, uncomfortable with this line of questioning. But this was Gus, his best friend. He knew he could be trusted. The same could not yet be said of his father.

"Yeah" Shawn mumbled. "And a miniature version of myself"

"A mini you?" Gus confirmed, still not turning around.

"Yeah"

"Creepy" he commented.

"Yeah" Shawn laughed, "That's one way to put it".

"What was he saying this time?"

"He… he thinks I am selfish for leaving everyone at West Haven. It's funny, as much as I hate being there and want to be in the real world, I miss everyone, especially Jessica. I grew up with them all… they're all family"

Gus turned around and tried not to stare at his best friend. "You're not being selfish Shawn. You deserve to be free. You're my family. My mother still rings me asking about you every year to ask whether you can come to Christmas dinner" Gus smiled; wanting Shawn to realise how wanted and needed he is by him. "You can always go back to West Haven if you want to… I am sure Charlie wouldn't mind"

"No" Shawn said shaking his head. "That's the problem. I don't want to go back! I feel terrible about leaving them but I feel guilty because I never want to go back! Just being able to go out to a restaurant to eat a meal! Or go to the seaside when I feel like it! And visit different places! I have missed out on so much!"

Gus nodded.

"I am sure everyone there are fine. You don't need to feel guilty, just enjoy yourself this week. Remember what you told me, it's a trial run. If you can show Charlie you can fit in with society again you never know, you might have a chance of being released"

"She had to sedate me once already" Shawn scoffed, "That's not exactly a good sign"

"I knew we'd have our setbacks" Charlie announced smiling coming into the room, "Plus, I wouldn't say that count's as trouble fitting into society again. After all, a burning building and body is not an everyday occurrence"

Charlie smiled as she watched Shawn's face relax. She had been sat reading when she had heard Shawn come downstairs and although she never announced her presence she had been listening to every word Gus and Shawn had said. They really were family to each other. Shawn actually trusted him and she was really glad that he had him.

All three of them were distracted as the door swung open and Henry's wet figure came storming through.

"I'm so sorry I'm late" Henry apologised calling through to the room where they were stood.

Henry quickly took off his wet coat and hung it up next to the door and marched through to the kitchen.

"I- Shawn!" he exclaimed.

Shawn stood there unsure of what to say.

"I'm err… glad….uh…food's ready huh?"

Shawn smirked; his father obviously didn't know what to say either. That was fine by him, if it avoided the awkward questions. Gus grabbed the plates from the side and put them onto the table and they all pulled up chairs to sit at. Shawn then organised the drinks as Gus handed the different sandwiches to different people.

"Thanks" they all said as Gus handed them their food.

Gus accepted their thanks before sitting down himself and began eating.

They ate mostly in silence but the sounds of Shawn yawning were heard constantly throughout the meal.

"Sorry" Shawn apologised.

"It's alright" Henry chuckled. "You must be tired"

"Yeah" Shawn agreed before giving off another yawn and putting his plate on the side with the others, only Henry had yet to finish eating but he put his plate next to Shawn's only seconds later.

"Will I see you tomorrow kid?" Henry asked hopefully and Charlie looked towards Shawn to see what his answer would be.

"Yeah probably. I'll get Gus to ring you. I have a list of things I wanna do before I go back" Shawn yawned and Henry nodded in understanding.

"I'll see you tomorrow then kid" Henry said as Gus escorted Shawn out of the house. If Gus' hadn't, he was certain Shawn would have collapsed from exhaustion, he looked absolutely shattered and dead on his feet, it was a wonder he could walk.

"See you tomorrow Henry. Thanks for everything" Charlie told him smiling.

"No problem" Henry responded as he walked forward with her to the front door and held it open for her. He watched over her shoulder as Gus helped his son into the car and Charlie ran to join them as the rain that was pouring earlier was still coming down really hard. He watched them all drive away in the bright blue car and only shut the door when they were all out of sight. Henry then yawned, he was tired himself after the busyness of the day. Looking back in to the kitchen he quickly tossed the dishes in the sink, vowing to wash them up tomorrow and not to leave them to rot. Then trudging slowly up the stairs he paused at the entrance to his son's old room, saddened by what he had witnessed here only hours before. He went over to his son's old bed and drew up the covers before turning the light off and leaving the door slightly ajar, not wanting to shut that part of himself out. He then turned away and went his own bedroom closing the door behind him. He couldn't wait for tomorrow.

Shawn had fallen asleep in the car on the way back to Gus' apartment and Charlie had to wake him up in order to climb the stairs. After all, it is hard to carry a grown man up the stairs and no doubt if they used the elevator he would wake and panic. Shawn's eyes were barely open but he managed it up the stairs to Gus' apartment and crashed into Gus' bed. Gus smiled at him and whispered a goodnight to Charlie who nodded, whispered a reply and went into the room that Gus had provided for her. Gus quickly got changed and used the bathroom to clean his teeth and wash his face before climbing on the sofa to go to sleep. He was asleep in a matter of minutes and gentle snores filled the room.
