Author note: So I updated one, I thought it only proper I aim to update the other. Good news, this is a biggun. Enjoy:)

Previously:

"I find it relaxing and I love the animals and oh… Is that man talking to the snakes‽" she chuckled, finding the idea of a grown man pretending to talk to the snakes highly amusing.

"Uh..." Gus turned to see Shawn hissing who seemed completely oblivious to other people's incessant stares. "Yeah, that's-"

"Hilarious!" she burst out laughing and Gus gave her a look that immediately quietened her frantic laughter.

"That's my best friend" Gus stated shortly, causing the woman to stop laughing and her expression turned into an incredulous glare.

"Recently released from the mental asylum?" she asked jokily, expecting the joke to be returned.

"Yes" Gus stated shortly and completely seriously.

"Oh sorry" she replied, though sounding not at all sorry before going in to her handbag and digging out a piece of scrap paper and pen and writing her number on it, added was a few kisses and heart.

"Call me when you're not babysitting" she winked before handing him the piece of paper with her number on it and leaving Gus stood there alone.

Shawn had stopped hissing after hearing what this woman was saying. He didn't react when she pointed him out but she was being quite loud and it was only when Gus attempted to hush her that he actually had to give up hissing so he could listen to what they were saying. Shawn was expecting this sort of reaction eventually and felt sorry for Gus that he was the one dealing with the judgement of his condition. It wasn't right. Shawn had half a mind to go after the woman and give her a piece of his mind but decided against it, purely because she had left Gus her phone number and it was up to Gus what he decided to do, whether he was going to take the chance and call her. It wasn't his right to go meddling in his love life.

Shawn then got up and walked towards Gus who was still stood with the number in his hand. The woman was nowhere in sight.

Gus blinked when Shawn was suddenly in front of him looking concerned.

"You alright buddy?" Shawn asked with feigned confusion.

"What? Yeah. You uh… finished with the snakes?"

Shawn nodded. "What you got there? You're not making notes are you?" he remarked incredulously. "There's google for that, you know"

"Nah" Gus told him screwing the paper up in his hand and putting it in one of the nearby bins before they both began the slow walk to the exit of the Zoo.

Shawn couldn't help the smug look of satisfaction that crept onto his face.

Considering that the walk way around the Zoo was a one way system, Gus should have known that he would pass Chantelle again before they reached the exit, if she stopped to look at the reptiles on the way out. But Shawn and Gus were hungry now and the idle chit chat meant that Gus missed the sign saying that the reptiles were on the left. The snakes were on both sides until the reptiles started and Chantelle was stood looking at the reptiles but heard Gus' voice. Gus did not notice her but she noticed them and turned, Shawn gave her a grin before sticking out his tongue and confidently walking on.

"Where do you wanna go to eat?" Gus asked, knowing his own stomach was beginning to grumble.

Shawn shrugged, "Wherever, I'm starved"

Gus lazily raised an eyebrow, "They have a mini restaurant here for customers?"

"Sounds good" Shawn shrugged, "It wasn't here last time" he commented.

"Yeah, I think they built it a few years after you… last came" Gus says sensitively, "I used to come here as a kid with my parents"

Shawn didn't say anything. It annoyed him when Gus couldn't just be blunt and come out with it. He was always very careful around him, like he could slip up or something and upset Shawn. There was honestly no need for that hesitation and it was obvious in his face that he couldn't bare to say it.

"Two" the man asked, holding a clip board expectantly.

Gus nodded and they were shown to their table. The waiter gesturing to the menu's already on the table to which Gus thanked him.

Shawn took in the view of the restaurant. It was really realistic as a restaurant. When Gus had said that they now had a mini restaurant he had expected it to be rather shabby. But it was actually rather nice. It had a clear view into the kitchens through a large window and even had customer toilets and places for customers to hang their coats for when it rained heavily.

"It's pretty cool" Shawn remarks and spots the waiter heading in their direction.

"Gus. If the guy comes, order me something? Just gonna go to the loo"

Gus looked up from his menu and nodded. He looked a bit uncertain but soon dismissed it. Shawn was unsure whether it was fear of leaving him alone or afraid he might order something that Shawn didn't like. Shawn wasn't going to be fussy and was perfectly able to go to the bathroom without assistance.

Gus was no longer uncertain, his friend needed his privacy, anyways, and Gus could see the entrance to the toilets and would go after him if necessary if he took too long.

Shawn was loving the two minutes of alone time. No one else was there and after he had finished his business he stared in to the mirror for a moment before he washed his hands. When he looked up at the mirror, he was shocked to find a face staring at him. It wasn't Gus.

Shawn spun around, "You scared me"

The man chuckled. "I am dreadfully sorry, my dear boy. My name is Sherlock Holmes; it is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance"

Shawn studied the man and realised he must be a hallucination. He looked around forty in age and was wearing the deer stalker with pride and a cane in his left hand, leaning on it with some of his weight and a look that showed he had nowhere else to be.

"I don't have time for you today. Please just leave" Shawn responded tacitly.

Sherlock didn't look shocked. "Ah Yes. Your friend Gus is waiting for you" he said peering through the circular shaped window. "I have spotted the fellow; he is follically challenged, yes?"

Shawn sighed, not disagreeing with him and he continued to wash his hands.

"What do you want from me?" Shawn asked instead.

"You mean, what do you want with yourself?" Sherlock corrected and Shawn sighed once more exasperated.

"No mean to get like that" Sherlock told him, in his deep British accent. "I was just wondering why you weren't on the case to take down the murderous Elliot Sawyer" he pronounced his name with false enthusiasm.

"It's not my case. I'm not a detective" Shawn responded, walking to the cubicles so he could dry his hands with toilet roll instead of trusting the technology that looked rusty and unstable.

"Of course you're a detective! You read all your father's files. You deduce things like me. We see things no one else does. You're your father's son, remember that" Sherlock responded.

Shawn had to admit that Sherlock did have a point and Sherlock could see that.

"And Mr Sherlock Holmes never gives up on a case!" Sherlock whispered.

Shawn nodded and put the paper in the bin.

"You need to solve this puzzle" Sherlock urged him once more.

Shawn just gave a confirming smile as he opened the door, leaving Sherlock standing there alone.

Gus was just about to start panicking when he saw Shawn exit; he quickly relaxed and held the menu before pointing at one of the options.

"I hope that's ok?" Gus asked and Shawn just nodded, keeping his eye on the toilets out of the corner of his eye to see if anyone came out. No one did.

The food came minutes later and Shawn's surprise dish was very tasty and they soon had demolished their plates. When Gus asked for the bill it came within seconds and Gus put the money on the table. Shawn couldn't help but notice that Gus had left a tip and wondered what the point was.

As they were heading back to the car, Gus' phone started vibrating in his pocket. He pulled it out and realised he was being called, the caller ID said it was Charlie and so he raised it to his ear.

"Hello?"

"Hey Gus, it's me Charlie"

"Hey. I assume this means you got my message?"

Shawn instantly gages who it is and has no problem just getting in the car.

"Yeah. I feel like such a doofus. I put Shawn's meds in your bathroom on the shelves. I assume their haven't been any problems?"

"No, none. We'll go back now"

"Back? What have you been up to?"

Gus opened his car door and got in so he was sat next to Shawn.

"We've just been to the zoo and ate out"

"Sounds like you're spoiling him. Tell Shawn I'll see him tomorrow, I have to get back"

"Sure. See you tomorrow"

Gus smiled and Shawn said, "Charlie?"

"Yup" Gus responded starting the car engine causing Shawn to jump.

"She said she put the pills in the bathroom on one of the shelves and that she'd see you tomorrow"

Shawn nodded, "No wonder we didn't find them in her room"

Gus agreed with him and as soon as they got into the apartment, made sure that Shawn helped himself to the pills Charlie had left him.

Gus was happy to find that Shawn didn't complain and swallowed down a pill before Gus could fetch him some water. Gus held the water in his hand expectantly as he watched Shawn swallow the pill.

"Don't you need-"

Shawn gave a little laugh. "I've had years of practise"

Gus frowned slightly when he watched Shawn put them away again after only one pill.

"Only one?" Gus asked curiously.

Shawn wasn't bothered by the question. "I was meant to have two this morning then two with evening meal. It's lunch now so if I don't want to overdose, I better only take one now"

"Oh" Gus responded intelligently.

"Can I have the camera?" Gus asked as he strolled over to his laptop and turned it on.

Shawn quickly handed it over and went in the room to find the visitor passes his dad had given him. Sherlock's words were playing on his conscience. This puzzle had no answer. He was out of the loop. Elliot Sawyers needed to be off of the streets, preying on these innocent women. Maybe his dad would let him in on the case if he asked nicely. Shawn knew full well that Charlie would have said no but if his dad said yes then Gus wouldn't complain. Anyways, Shawn knew any more phone calls wouldn't be received until late tonight once all the patients had been locked in their rooms for bed.

Shawn hung his visitor pass around his neck and handed Gus' to him with a questionable look upon his face to which Gus instantly smiled.

"Sure. Just wait a few minutes for my lappy"

Shawn frowned confused as what it was doing then studied the laptop and remembered Gus' previous request about the camera.

"You're copying all the photos aren't you?" Shawn confirmed with a small smile on his face to which Gus gave an almost embarrassing grin.

"There's some good one's in here" he stated.

The computer beeped quietly and Shawn assumed it meant they were done.

"So" Gus began, shutting the laptop lid. "You wanna see your dad"

Shawn just nodded, not trusting himself to speak. The last time he saw his dad it was a little embarrassing. He had a breakdown and practically fell asleep on his door step. Plus, his father had been completely speechless when it came to talking about what happened. Gus had been normal and asked what was bothering him this time. His father had been completely speechless.

Though weird as it was. Shawn was actually starting to think of Henry as his dad now. Shawn never thought that would happen but since the breakdown, he felt like he had actually shared himself with him. He had realised when he woke that he was in his own bedroom and all of the left over toys hadn't been moved. His father couldn't bare to let anything go. That visit had changed everything.

Shawn knew Ross wouldn't be happy to know that but it wasn't like he was here. Shawn was still angry at him though. For years Shawn had thought that his father had abandoned him, Shawn only wished that his father had come to explain himself, or visit, just once, like he promised.

Will you come and visit me at Miss Jones'?" Shawn asked innocently and Henry automatically tensed. Shawn interpreted that signal as a no and so looked down and continued walking.

"Of course I will kid" Henry replied kneeling down and looking Shawn right in the eye, "I promise" Henry added, seeing Shawn's doubtful expression.

"Ok" Shawn replied shyly.

Shawn had waited and waited, and every day he lost a little hope, believed a little less that his father, Henry was ever going to come and get him.

Gus picked up his visitor's badge and hung it round his neck as they headed out to the car again once more.

"My parents are really excited about tonight" Gus mentioned with a smile.

Shawn gave him a smile in return, "It will be nice to go to your house again" he responded thinking of some of his childhood memories. Shawn remembered when he was eight and he had finally told Gus what was happening at him. Shawn remembered he had become less talkative and depressed at school and become more violent because of it. He became moody because his parents weren't getting along anymore and couldn't understand why. But he had Ross and Gus to help him through it, though looking back; it seemed he didn't cope as well as he could. Shawn often wondered that if things had been different, if his mom hadn't left them, would everything have turned out the same?

Shawn shook his head to dismiss the thought just as they arrived at the station and they both got out of the car quickly. Shawn began heading inside and Gus followed him.

Upon their arrival, Officer Allen was quick to notice them and she smiled and waved before hanging up the phone. Cautiously Shawn went up to her to see if she wanted anything.

"It's nice to see you boys again" she greets, looking down at their visitors passing appreciatively . Shawn gave a tight smile and nodded and they headed to find his father.

They found Juliet and Carlton first, they gathered around one of their desks talking to Buzz McNabb, the junior inexperienced detective.

Carlton was the first to come over, folding his arms in a disgruntled manner before he spoke gruffly, "What are you doing here?"

Juliet narrowed her eyes at her partner, annoyed that he words were obviously not enough for him to treat Shawn with respect.

"Carlton" Juliet scolded and Buzz turned interested.

"Oh hey Shawn" he greeted with a big smile. "Gus"

Shawn and Gus smiled back, "How is the case going?"

Buzz turned to him really excited, "Well I followed your advice and we had a sighting of him in one of the nightclubs in town. The Red Claw"

Shawn nodded with a smile, "Has he taken his next victim?"

"Not that it's any of your business Spencer" Carlton started but he was interrupted by Juliet.

"Her name is Emma Jameson. She was reported leaving with Sawyers by the owner of the establishment"

Shawn blinked, "Why didn't he stop him then?"

"Because Sawyers is classified as dangerous and not to be engaged with" Carlton replied sternly about to speak further with Shawn when he noticed who was coming over.

It was Henry, he had heard the voices and come over to investigate and his face lit up when he saw his son and Gus stood there.

"So I was right about Sawyers?" Shawn asked, slightly shocked. This was his first case, well apart from when Gary Mcgavern pleaded mental insanity, and he was determined to try and help.

"You're great at reading people and creating character profiles" Gus reminded him, watching Henry's face light up, proud of the man his son had grown up to be.

Carlton sighed, "And how the hell would you know? You've been in white padded cells for years"

Juliet gasped and Shawn raised his eyebrows clearly willing to taunt him. "Did dad not tell you about the experiments I did?" Shawn drawled with a smirk. "Anyway, you've seen the facility, it's far from prison"

Carlton immediately turned green and Juliet's eyes widened in confusion. The atmosphere surrounding them had suddenly become dead silent. Apart from the chatter of other officers and the occasional creak of a chair and ring of a phone, no one spoke.

Shawn laughed at the reaction but turned around to see that Carlton was not the only affected. His dad and Gus were stood there with the same greenish expression.

"Guys, cool it. You know I haven't done anything like that in years" Shawn told them seriously, looking for the familiar expression. Shawn could immediately see Gus' expression falter and draw into a small smile and he nodded. Henry on the other hand was still frozen, obviously stuck in the past remembering his old experiments.

"Doesn't mean you haven't thought about it though" Carlton managed to blurt out.

Shawn turned and frowned at him before turning back to his father.

"He really doesn't like me does he?" Shawn remarked, trying to lighten the mood.

Henry managed to shake his head and walks over to Carlton.

"Don't you EVER speak to MY SON like that again" he told him, his faces inches away from Carlton's. Carlton blinked in shock and slowly nodded.

Gus and Juliet contained smiles but this sparked something in Shawn.

"How did you know anyways?" Shawn asked with apparent confusion and Henry froze, his back still to Shawn.

"Did Charlie let you see my files to see how reliable my testimony was?" Shawn asked, hoping that would be the case, though he seriously doubted it. He thought there was something suspicious when Officer Allen knew who he was when they first met and her reaction to him. When Juliet frowned, Shawn knew he had been right all along. There was only one remaining option. His father had told everyone.
