Kagome stepped outside as a car pulled up in front of her. Eyes widening a bit, she glanced back over her shoulder as her boss stepped up beside her to see who had arrived. Watching the window roll down, she smiled and stepped up to the black car. "Misa-Chan, how have you been!"
"Misa Misa has been great! Kagome, if you are done with work, can we go get some tea and cake? It's been a long time since we last hung out,"
Smiling, Kagome turned to Sesshoumaru, "I'll see you tomorrow,"
"Mm, be careful. You know you're being watched."
"Right, right. I can take care of myself. If I can't, I'm sure someone will be there for me,"
"Of course," Sesshoumaru walked past her, taking in the license plate of the vehicle before he made his way to his own car and pulled his phone out.
Shaking her head, Kagome climbed into the car beside Misa and smiled at the driver. "I'll be in your care for now, please excuse me."
Blushing, he cleared his throat and waved her off with a smile, "don't worry about it."
"This is Matsu-Kun, he's Misa Misa's new manager!"
"Matsu-San, nice to meet you, I'm Higurashi, Kagome."
"Ah, right! We were watching you on TV at HQ actually,"
She smiled, "can I ask what your opinion of Kira is? I'd like to hear what you think."
"My opinion. " Matsuda looked at her through the rearview mirror before his eyes settled on the road again, "he's a criminal. There's nothing to debate. He's a bad guy, with messed up morals and screwed up ideals. This kind of person...needs to be arrested and locked away soon."
"I see, so you're an L supporter too?" Kagome smiled, "I'm glad. I'm worried not only for those who are likely victims of Kira, but for those who support him blindly. I worry that they'll lose themselves to his false justice."
"False Justice?" Misa frowned, "what do you mean?"
"Misa," Kagome watched as a teashop came into view, "do you know the definition of the word Justice?"
"The definition? No."
"Justice is defined as, the principal or ideal of moral rightness. Equity, in conduct or attitude; Righteousness, the upholding of what is right and lawful. Fair treatment or punishment in accordance with honor, standards or law. Fairness, the quality of being fair or impartial...with sound reason. Now, does it sound as if that's what Kira is doing? Speak honestly, I'm curious what your idea of Justice is."
Misa fidgeted. "Kagome knows that Misa Misa's family was murdered, the killer was never caught...I recently saw his face in the tabloids...as a victim of Kira. I don't know what Justice is, but I am grateful to Kira for getting rid of that man. My mom, dad and brother...I am sure of it, they must be happy too."
"I think the opposite." Kagome smiled as she took the blondes hand in hers, "I think they be worried. Their precious daughter is being blindly led by a dark shadow that's tyrannical rule is looming over all of Japan. Can I give you another definition, Misa?" She stepped out of the car as Matsui opened the door for her, holding Misa's hand as she climbed out, she looked back as the blonde followed her silently. Eyes downcast from the conversation, "Tyrant; a ruler who exercises power in a harsh, cruel manner, an oppressor, a tyrannical or despotic person. Oppress; to persecute or subjugate by unjust use of force or authority. When I think of Kira, oppression and tyranny come to mind. When I think of L, Justice comes to mind. There is a wrong way, and a right way, to do things. Kira is wrong, L is right; it's truly as simple as black and white. There is no gray, there is no blurred lines. One is simply blind to the obvious until they are looking up at the barrel of the gun of Justice in which Kira holds tightly in his hands."
"Y-you-!"
"Misa," Kagome cut the blonde off, her hand gripped tightly by the younger girls as she had become clammy and shaken up by the length topic. "Let's drink some tea, I heard their Lavender Berry is to die for!"
Matsui watched as Kagome pulled Misa along, her head dipped, and a look of concern passed over her blue eyes before she brightened and smiled. He sighed, she was hot and cold, bipolar in the most curious of ways.
"Matsuda,"
"Ah!" He jumped at the sudden sound of L's voice in his ear. He pressed on the transmitter before responding, "Y-yes, Ryuzaki-San?"
"I'd like for you to bring Higurashi-San by Head Quarters, if she's interested. You can tell her that I'd like to meet her but do so in a way that doesn't make me sound overly enthusiastic."
'...but you don't sound overly enthusiastic...you sound quite the opposite.' He cleared his throat, "yes, I understand. Does that mean you heard her inside the van?"
"I was listening, yes. To be honest, I am surprised that she and Misa Amane are acquaintances. She doesn't look the type to be associated with such a... shall we say, bubbly personality?"
"You have another name on your mind, don't you."
"Well, I'd rather keep this conversation as professional as possible, but Misa is undeniably flighty. Oh, bring me some cake too."
He sighed as a click in his earpiece signaled the end of the conversation. Turning his attention back to the tea parlor, he entered and made his way straight to the counter where he ordered several delectable treats for his boss. "I hope you don't mind keeping them back here until we leave, I'll pick them up once the girls are done eating."
"Ah, very well sir!"
He nodded and walked over to where Misa was laughing and talking energetically with Kagome.
