A Meeting to Remember

Matsuda didn't get it. Just outside, he'd been worried that the two would get into an argument over Kira and L, but they were sitting and laughing about their days back in high school and middle school. Though, he did discover one interesting fact through their conversing. The fact that Kagome used her real name was mind boggling.
"Misa thinks you should use an Alias!"
Kagome smiled, "I refuse to be afraid of Kira. I also like my name, so I will continue using it without any worries."
Misa shook her head.
"Oh, speaking of Kira," Matsuda finally took a chance to bring up L's request. "You spoke highly of L, right?"
"Yes?"
"Well, he'd been listening in to yours and Misa's conversation earlier and has requested that I bring you back to HQ."
"..." she tilted her head, "I'm sorry, you are aware that you are claiming to know the L. Right?"
He blushed, "yes, and bringing this up isn't really something I'm used to doing. I'm a Detective and doubling as Misa's Manager. Misa is currently staying with her boyfriend at the Task Force while he helps L with the Kira investigation."
"Misa?" Kagome didn't jump for joy, she looked analytically at the situation before turning to her friend from her youth.
"...Kagome shouldn't come to the Task Force. Originally, Misa wanted to introduce you to Ryuzaki, but that wouldn't be safe. You should stay away. Use an Alias or stay away from the Task Force HQ."
Kagome sighed, "I'd really like to meet L though. If you aren't lying, it would be quite the opportunity for an interview. However, I won't ever show fear to adversity again. I've been there, and I don't like it. So no, Misa, my name is Kagome. Ka-Go-Me."
Misa looked upset but she didn't argue. "Fine..."
Kagome took Misa's hand in hers before turning to Matsuda, "Matsu-San? Could you please take me to L? I'm not scared," she looked at Misa, "you'll be with me, right?"
Misa smiled, "hai! Misa will keep Kagome-Chan safe!"
Kagome laughed at that.

'Interesting that Misa is so worried about bringing Higurashi-San here without the assurance of her using an Alias.' L glanced at Light as he watched the cameras. He was watching previous broadcastings of Kira's victims. Not able to hear the conversation in his ear like L could. "We are having a guest, Watari."
Watari bowed and left the room. A curious look from Light and the silence that followed L's comment had made the Death Note owner highly unnerved, but he hid it well. Returning his eyes to the camera, he was looking to be sure that he made no mistakes, while pointing out obvious though not quite so obvious facts while he did. A pad of paper under his hand as he wrote tidbits of things down here and there. "We should play another Tennis match, Ryuzaki."
L tilted his head in Lights direction and smiled, "I've already deduced as much as I can from Tennis with Light, there's no point in having another match."
"Just for fun."
"...fun?" L nibbled on the tip of his thumb silently before he blinked and stood up, "perhaps we should."
"Huh? Hey, where are you going?"
L looked down at his bare feet, "the bathroom. I should take some effort to make myself presentable for our guest."
"Who is coming?!"

Kagome sighed, "blindfolded...I mean, sure, fine, it's necessary, but god this is creepy."
Misa sighed, "L is weird like that, so don't be surprised if he locks you up in bondage and―"
"Misa! That wasn't because he was trying to be creepy, so please don't speak outlandishly about Ryuzaki-San. I mean, sure...he's a little bit...eccentric, but you aren't exactly normal either."
"You're both weirding me out, no more talking about L! I'll make of him what I will when I meet him!"
"Right, oh, and I'll need to take your cellphone too."
"...blindfolded, no idea where I'm going, and no way to call for help." She sighed as she fished out her phone from her pocket, handing it to Misa who gave it over to Matsuda, "you sure you're a cop? I'm starting to have my doubts."
"I'm a Detective, I swear on my badge!"
"Don't be so dramatic, I was joking. I mean, I was actually quite serious, but it was meant in all good fun." Kagome smiled, "he seems like the type to get easily flustered, Misa. Does he blush and raise his voice often when he wants attention?"
Misa giggled, "Matsu-Kun does all sorts of things when he wants attention. However, Light is super smart, so he takes up all Ryuzaki-San's time. Matsu-Kun ends up with very little of it."
"I'm sorry Matsu-Kun."
"I'm not a dog, you don't need to talk like I'm pinning for my master's attention!"
"Speaking of your Master, what's he like?"
"Well, he's―hey!"
Misa and Kagome laughed at Matsuda's expense, his cheeks burning as he pulled into the underground parking lot. Watari was already there waiting when he got out and opened the door for both ladies. Ever the gentleman, he helped the blind Kagome to her feet as Misa clung to Kagome's arm protectively. Matsuda looked curiously at the blonde and took notice of just how on edge she really was. It couldn't all be because of L, right? No, certainly not. L had no reason to think this girl was Kira, he still thought that Light was― Matsuda watched Misa fidget a bit in place while waiting for him.
"Matsu-Kun, you going to stand around or hurry up and come along with us. We shouldn't keep Watari waiting!"
"Watari?"
"Good evening, Higurashi-San."
Kagome turned at the car door closing and turned back to the direction of what she'd only refer to as a kindly and old voice. A man up in his years, no doubt equivalent to a grandfather in his days. She bowed politely, "good evening,"

L had come back out to see Light looking up at the parking garage camera. His eyes semi narrowed as he looked at the woman who stood in a group of Misa, Matsuda and Watari now. L beamed and moved closer to Light, "she truly looks to be quite attractive."
Light looked at L, "what happened to making yourself presentable."
L frowned, eyes showing just how annoyed he was with that careless comment. "What are you talking about, I washed my face, brushed my teeth, and look."
Light gave L a once over and frowned, "what? You are still dressed in a white shirt, blue jeans and don't understand the basics of socks and shoes."
L rolled his eyes, "socks and shoes shouldn't be a necessity in one's life. I hardly see why me not wearing them should be a problem to anyone. Also, I was referring to my shirt."
"It's the same long sleeve shirt."
"No, I changed it out with a new one."
"..." Light closed his eyes and sighed, "Ryuzaki, do you even own any other clothes besides that of white shirts and blue jeans? Like, I don't know...a tuxedo?"
"Be honest with me Light, could you really see me in a tux?"
Light decided not to answer, he couldn't. Not at all.

The two turned and a group of four stepped out of the elevator, Misa leading one in with the other two following silently on their own.
"Ryuzaki-San, Higurashi-San," Watari said this while removing her blindfold. When it came down, the woman opened her eyes carefully and slowly so not to strain her eyes with bright lights. Pleasantly surprised by the dimmed lights, she fully opened her eyes and looked around to the older gentleman, then to L and Light. Looking between the two, she walked forward and eyed both. "...may I guess?"
"Oh, Kagome-Chan! Can you tell which one is which?" Misa asked playfully, letting go of Kagome's arm and pulling her now by the hand. "Guess, guess!"
"This may not be a fair evaluation, but I know Misa, which means I know her type." Kagome smiled, "Light must then be the young man with the long-sleeved black shirt, and the brown hair. You seem like the kind of guy you might find modeling for a Banana Republican photoshoot. Looks are squared away, hair neatly styled and a curious air around you that practically screams I'm a student. You most certainly are not L." She laughed, meeting his eyes, then stopped laughing at the eye contact. It felt heavy, forced, "there's something else about you too, but I can't say exactly what it is," a frown touched her lips before she shook her head and moved onto the other one. "Now you are L, or...Ryuzaki-San. I have no doubt. The bags under your eyes tell me you busy yourself with countless things at a time, pale skin, you hold yourself up in dark places, rarely go outside, and your hands in your pockets while fidgeting with your feet, that's a quirk if I've ever seen one. You close yourself off to those around you by keeping your hands in your pockets, easier to avoid people. Lacking self-confidence because you always feel uncomfortable around other people. Over thinking by fidgeting, yeah, I peg you as L, the Detective Extraordinaire."
L smiled, "very good, I would have been quite disappointed if you'd named Light as L."
She laughed, "I wouldn't dare makes such a thoughtless mistake, may I inquire as to why the sudden call to meet with me?"
Light turned to L, "yeah, I mean, we're in the middle of an investigation, what are you thinking?"
"I'm thinking Higurashi-San could prove to have some useful insight, and I'd like to talk about the Kira Case with her as well. She has an opinion that's been well broadcasted, and her bravery is commendable. She deserves a bit of insight, if she's going to continue risking her life day in and day out."
Kagome tightly took Misa's arm, "oh wow, you give me far too much credit, I assure you. As it is possible to feel terrified while being brave, it is just as possible to not feel afraid and not be brave."
"You think so?" He looked startled, "I never thought of it that way. Very well then, you're a fearless coward, shall we sit down for some tea and talk?"
Kagome smiled, "sounds good."
Misa paused at a look from Light but when her hand was pulled, she smiled and left with Kagome. Skipping along the way while Matsuda looked curiously between Light and Misa.
'Am I thinking about this too much? Light seems annoyed. Maybe he just doesn't want L to be distracted when Kira is still out there...though, they do things all the time. Café, shopping, tennis, fighting while handcuffed. It's not like they've never wasted time before. No, he has something on his mind. Misa is also a bit off. She's close to Kagome, and protective of her. To the point where she was afraid to let her come to the Task Force. By all rights, this should be one of the safest places from Kira...but she was against her coming here. Quite vocally, at that. Hm, I'll just watch them for now.'
"Misa~! You're squeezing me too tight~!"
"Hehe, sorry Kagome-Chan, I'm just happy you're with Misa!"
"Well, I have work tomorrow, so I can't stay late, I'm afraid."
"Aw~ won't you stay the night? Sleep in Misa's room!"
"Misa, does that mean you won't be sleeping in Lights room tonight?"
Kagome raised a brow at Misa who blushed and looked away from the raven-haired girl. "Wow, Misa...I didn't know you were in such an exclusive relationship."
"...stay...just for tonight." Misa asked softer.
Kagome's eyes widened and she brought an arm around Misa's shoulders and leaned in to hug her, "if it's alright with the boss man, I'll stay."
"I see no problem with it, we can talk a bit later if you need to pick anything up."
Kagome shook her head, "I'll be fine. Misa and I share the same size and I have a spare uniform at work. Even if I didn't, I could leave early tomorrow and go home to change. No problems here! Oh, since I have you right in front of me, could we discuss your opinion of Kira, the being behind the name?"
"What a uniquely phrased question." He turned to Matsuda and Light, "feel free to join us, or you can take a break. It's late so we'll be wrapping up soon anyways."
Light sighed and walked past Matsuda who watched him make his way to the couch, sitting down next to L who looked nothing short of a child in a candy shop. "An hour, and then you and I are back on those cameras." Light said irritably.
"Why, Light, I'm pleased that you take this case so seriously, truly, I am." L looked at Light, their eyes met, and Light knew he'd just done something to garner his percentage to go up.
'Damn. A double-edged blade...no matter what I do!'
