The setting is London in 1912 and John Bates is a campaign manager for Robert Crawley. During a speech for the Labour Party, John has a chance encounter with a young, Anna Smith, a budding journalist for The Sketch. Will their meeting prove to be a life changing moment for Mr. Bates?
