Chapter 8
(Williams plantation, outside New Orleans, Louisiana)
Two women were sitting down in the main room, drinking tea. Both looked to be in their 40s but, were actually at a combined age of 250. The first one was in a gold and white kimono, white socks, and sandals. The one across from her was like an elegant Southern lady. "Ah heard, Regina and the children are back." Said the southern lady.
"Oh?" Said the woman in the kimono, "we should invite them to the house. It is almost Thanksgiving."
"Do you wish for me to call them Momma?"
"Please?"
"Ah'm on it."
(Los Angeles, Calif.)
Adam was in the shower getting cleaned up and ready for the 'Welcoming Party' for the girls. When the party started everyone was meeting the girls and were enjoying themselves. Just then, Regina received a call. "Hello?" She said.
"[Reginah?]" It was Her mother.
"Mother? You and grandmother are back?"
"[Yes dear,]" she said. "[Mother would like to see you three.]"
"Uh, Adam's married." Her mother was in shock.
"[Adam's what?]"
"He married four nice girls. We'll bring them with us."
"[How did our baby boy get married?]"
"It's hard to explain Mom, I'm trying to understand it. I'll let him tell you."
"[This Ah have to hear.]" So after the party, Regina had told the kids about the call she just received.
"Grandmother had called earlier?" Said Adam.
"Yes," Regina said.
"What's going on with her?" Said Jessie.
"She wants to see us and meet you, girls." The girls agreed and everyone started to get packed.
(Williams plantation, outside New Orleans, Louisiana)
After three hours, the Williams had landed in New Orleans. Adam had got an SUV and they drove to the plantation. On the way, the girls looked at everything. From the people to the moss on the trees. Then Maria has seen the plantation and was impressed. "Wow," she said. "This is your family home 'Train'?"
"I have no memories of this place." Said Adam.
"I brought Adam here when he was younger." Said Regina, "this is Jessica's first trip."
"Have they met the people who lived here?" Asked Ayla.
"Oh sure dear, they came to us."
"I would think that we would know Ayla," said Adam. "The people who live here are our Grandmother and Great Grandmother."
"GRANDMOTHER AND GREAT-GRANDMOTHER?" The girls said.
"Yep," said Regina. "My mother and grandmother." They pulled up to the house. "Well, here we are." They got out of the SUV and a female manservant came out. She had shoulder-length white hair and hazel eyes, she was dressed in a lavender, pin-striped suit.
"Welcome home, Lady Regina, Adam, Jessica." She said, they nodded.
"Hello Priority," said Regina. "These are our friends; Marinette Dupain-Cheng, Alya Cesaire, Alix Kubdel, and Katherine Mera."
"Nice to meet you, ladies." She said.
"You too Priority." They said, they walked in and saw the elders, Adam knelt to them.
"It's a pleasure to see you again 'Toeaina'." He said with his head down. Regina's grandmother stood and walked over to him, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Raise your head Wakai hito," she said. He did and she looked him in the eye. She smiled, "you are healing." She hugged him, tightly. Then she looked at the girls, "I see, you are the ones who helped my child find his smile again." She hugged each one of them. "I thank you."
"These are my friends, Tinamatua Sili." He said, she cut him off.
"Don't you mean, wives Wakai hito?" Adam was shocked.
"How did...?"
"Watashi ni sore o ataenaide kudasai! Your hearts are bound. Don't hide this from us."
"Yes, Tinamatua Sili." Then his Grandmother went over to them.
"Mah baby boy!" She said, hugging and kissing him on the cheek.
"Hello Tinamatua," he said as she did. He introduced the girls to them.
"Y'all know, you're staying here for Thanksgiving, right?"
"Yes ma'am," said Regina.
"Now, Adam Ah need to hear how you got married." She took his hand and lead him to the office, her mother followed as well. "Momma, you're coming as well?"
"Indeed, Wakai hito." She said, "I wish to learn what happened as well." So they went to the one room in the plantation where no lies could ever be uttered.
('The Office')
The room was huge, it had two couches in the middle with a table in between them. On the table was a tea set with tea already made. Adam and the girls sat on one couch while the Elders were on the other couch.
"Now, Momma and Ah always believed a decent talk could be shared around drinks. Ah rather have a mint julep but hey, now we just want to know what happened in Paris." Adam sighed and told his story.
(Two hours later)
"And that's it." He said, the Elders just looked at him.
"You have been through a lot, Wakai hito." Said the Great Grandmother. She placed a hand on his shoulder.
Later, Adam was in the kitchen with the girls helping him make some sides for the dinner. Regina had come in, "what's up mom?" He said.
"I'm going to need you to make a pie." She said, he froze and looked at her.
"What?"
"Yes dear, make me a pie."
"Uh, what flavor?"
"Make me a pecan pie."
"Okay, you heard her ladies, let's do this." He said as he started to work on it.
Meanwhile, Maria was talking to the others. "They love us so much," said Alya. "What are we going to do?" Maria just looked calm.
"I've talked to Mom," she said. "She gave her blessing, we're proposing to him tonight." She showed them the ring Regina gave her. Adam was just enjoying himself.
Three hours later, they were almost done and dinner was almost ready. That was when Maria and the girls went over to Adam. "Adam?" She said, he looked over to her and saw them drop to their knee.
He cocked an eyebrow, "what's this all about?" He said.
"Will you marry us?" She said.
