She doesn't actually have the armour plating on the shoulders. I got bored and added it to the outfit, to spice it up a little. It's just a black suit.
Thank you to my loyal readers whether they are silent or not. Thank you to the people who are following or have favourited my story. Thank you to my reviewers: skittlesdeb, triggerfinger213, TimeLadySpitfire, lizziecats, xVentressx, Bee4ever, Edges05, Jazzilynn Hall- Who also proof reads this. Thank you!
A few hours later and I come out of my room. I'm getting restless, I can't keep exercising in my room. I need to go back out. It's killing me not being in action. I go outside and I notice Ratchet parked. Maybe if I move quickly he won't bother me.
"And where do you think you're going?" asks Ironhide to the side.
I glare at him and I put my finger to my lips before pointing to Ratchet. He's probably inside with Lennox as a holoform.
"Are you going to answer my question?" persists Ironhide unconcerned.
I clench my fists and I refuse to speak even though I feel tempted to give Ironhide a piece of my mind but my efforts are useless as Ratchet flashes his lights at me and speaks.
"I may of been with Lennox but my sensors are still on. I knew the minute you stepped outside. Any reason why you're trying to sneak past me?" questions Ratchet.
"Numerous of reasons actually," I reply back folding my arms.
"Care to expand?" asks Ratchet although his tone left no room for argument.
"I need to do some more training," I answer impatiently as I notice Lennox comes outside probably to see why Ratchet's holoform disappeared.
"Well you can do some here," comments Sideswipe in alt mode next to Sunstreaker's alt mode.
"Yeah you don't need to go far," adds Ratchet.
"I need to do some real training," I insist.
"So let's fight," proposes Sunstreaker firmly.
What? I stay silent but I look over to him intrigued. That's the best idea I've heard in a while.
"A sparring session? Alright! I've been itching for a fight," says Sideswipe joyfully.
"That's actually not a bad idea," adds Ironhide happy for once.
"Indeed. If you fight in a controlled environment I can see how far your leg has healed and how it will be in battle," agrees Ratchet.
So even Ratchet the medical officer is agreeing.
"Fine. I won't miss the opportunity to kick someone's butt," I nod feeling a little excited.
"It will be holoforms you will be fighting. It will help us with our own technique," says Ironhide putting down the rules.
I nod in agreement. Fine, it's all the same to me.
"Who will I be fighting first?" I ask curious.
"Me," says a voice on my left side surprising me and making my body turn in that direction.
Sunstreaker's holoform.
"I want to fight you first," states Sunstreaker confidently.
I thought Ironhide would be the first one to fight.
"I'm feel generous so I'll give you one warning: Don't underestimate me," I smirk clenching my fists eagerly.
He smirks back at me, each of us eager for a fight.
"How can I underestimate something that I can break just by flicking? It's like underestimating an insect. It's not even worth it or possible…" mocks Sunstreaker arrogantly as I close my eyes listening to his mocks which will be his downfall. "…I'll try not to break you t-"
I move like lightning, running to him with a speed I've enhanced over the years, attacking him while he's mocking me not even letting him finish. He reacts with an inhuman speed, throwing a punch out in instinct but I use this to my advantage. I duck under the punch and grab his arm with both of my hands and I use that to swing my legs up and around his neck in a triangle choker hold. I see his eyes widen in shock before they narrow in anger and determination and he struggles to stand up with my weight pulling him down. All of this happening in seconds.
"Woah! What ever happened to 3, 2, 1, go?" asks Lennox surprised but I can hear in his voice he's impressed.
Ironhide whistles in appreciation watching with his arms folded, although the whistle sounds weird with his voice box.
"Nice, she's got you already Sunny," comments Sideswipe.
I smirk to him smugly.
Are you done underestimating me?
Sunstreaker growls and tries to free himself from my grip with his free hand. He grits his teeth instead of trying to breathe. He probably doesn't need oxygen to breathe not being truly being a human and all. But I might be overheating his systems, perhaps breaking something inside. Either way it can't be comfortable and painless. He punches my bad leg making the smirk drop off my face and I stifle a gasp, but I tighten my grip unrelentingly. I could snap his neck in this position. What would happen if I did? Would it hurt him since it's not his real body? Sunstreaker goes for a different approach and bands down, slamming me on the floor hard. I grunt and loosen my hold which is enough for him to break free. He takes a deep breath in, cooling his systems as he stands up. I don't even give myself time to recover, I'm just glad we're on the gravelly grassy floor instead of concrete otherwise I would of been in much worse shape. I use my hands, pushing them against the floor before propelling myself up, my feet in the air before connecting with Sunstreaker's chest knocking him back a good few steps. I land on my feet and go to kick him but he reacts quicker than me and blocks, wobbling a little.
"Slag! How the pit do you fleshies balance in a battle. Every hit nearly knocks me on my aft," complains Sunstreaker.
He throws a punch making me jump back slightly on the defensive. He wastes no time, throwing punch after punch. I block with my arms before he knees me in the gut. I kneel over slightly before dodging with a side step and a spin as he tries to use his elbows to hit my back while I'm kneeled over. I use the spin to do a roundhouse kick to his side. I hit him and he swags slightly before he grabs my ankle and swings me away.
Damn…
I just about manage to get my hands on the floor first so I can do a backwards flip, twice because I'm going so fast. I skid backwards as I land on my feet feeling slightly disorientated. I look up just in time to see Sunstreaker tackle me to the ground. So much for staying on my feet. I react quickly kneeing him in his stomach and pushing him off me. He stands up quicker than humanly possible and moves behind my left side wobbling still not use to his weight. Meanwhile I stand up before I have to dodge quickly as he throws a punch. I see confusion in his eyes wondering how I saw his attack from behind me before he does a number of quick attacks.
He's… he's just going for my left side. That… He's in for a surprise then.
I smirk anticipating his next attack, he throws a punch to my left and I use that outstretch arm to flip him over my shoulder before I restrain him on the floor. He struggles but I firmly keep a firm hold on him.
"1…2…." starts Ironhide and I can hear the humour and joy in his voice.
"Get off me, you slagging femme!" shouts Sunstreaker into the dirt as he fights to get free.
"….3! It's official! Sunstreaker got beaten up by a femme!" joyfully shouts Sideswipe.
I let him go and he gets up glaring at me, his pride deeply wounded before he blinks out of existence.
"Well done kid," compliments Ironhide before adding, "You put that arrogant brat in his place. Now it's time for me to see if I can put you in your place."
A smirk appears on my face, eager to accept his challenge.
"You can try but you won't succeed," I say as Ironhide transforms down and his holoform appears across from me.
"Oh I'm going to enjoy this," grins Ironhide flexing his muscles.
"Oh yeah. We'll see abou-" I stop mid sentence as my instinct flares up making me jump back the next millisecond but the fist still connects to the left side on my face.
"Shadow!" calls Lennox as I stumble back.
The impact could of been a lot worse if I didn't sense the hit coming.
"Sunstreaker!" shouts Ironhide.
I can hear anger in his voice as I taste blood on my lips.
"I knew it!" announces Sunstreaker obnoxiously.
I look up as I rub my hand against my hand, wiping my mouth with my fist. It was Sunstreaker holoform who punched me, I see Ironhide holoform holds Sunstreaker's holoform back. He doesn't care though, he looks victorious.
"What the pit, Sunny?! Can't you take a lost?!" yells Sideswipe surprised by his twin's action.
I start moving towards Sunstreaker.
"I'm right, aren't I-?" starts Sunstreaker but before he can properly finish, I punch him across the face.
Lennox immediately holds me back but I don't care as I've got my message to Sunstreaker across: Don't ever do that again.
"What's going on?" asks Mrs Lennox stepping out side to see why everyone's shouting.
"That's enough you two! Any more punches and I'm hauling you both to the med bay for a thorough check up. Why the pit did you punch Shadow, Sunstreaker?" asks Ratchet unimpressed.
"I knew it. You should of been able to dodge that. I was standing right in front of you on your left side," says Sunstreaker still eager and proud of himself, ignoring Ratchet, his optics on me.
"That's true. With your quick reflexes you should of been able to dodge that. You should of been able to see that coming since he was right in front of you," adds Ironhide calmly.
My frustration builds up higher inside, I could kill Sunstreaker! I shrug Lennox off and he lets me go as I turn away from them.
"That doesn't matter," I mutter.
"It was an easy block! An easy dodge," taunts Sunstreaker.
I know what he's trying to do. He's trying to get me to say it.
"Don't test me, Sunstreaker," I threat my voice having a low growl in it.
"But he's right, Shadow," comments Lennox.
"Leave it," I say firmly.
I don't think any of them will.
"Admit it, you couldn't dodge that even in you wanted to," comments Sunstreaker.
"No," I admit begrudgingly.
"And why not?" asks Sunstreaker smugly.
"I'm blind," I bite out bitterly but loudly turning round to face them.
I can see everyone's confused gazes on me, and I see Ironhide slackens his hold on Sunstreaker letting him slip out.
"What?" asks Lennox shakily under his breath.
I roll my eyes and I move my hair away from my left eye, pushing it behind my ear. Sarah's gasp is the loudest as she covers her mouth in horror and shock, her eyes wide. They all stare in horror, even Sunstreaker's smug look drops as he views my eye properly for a second time. My left eye is cloudy and I have 3 scars over my eye. They all go down and 2 scars stops just under my eye, the middle one is the longest going down to the middle of my cheek, the other ones stopping just above my cheekbone. At the stop of the long one in the middle, there is a backwards C making the middle scar look like the shape of a sword.
"I'm blind in my left eye," I further add, feeling uncomfortable from their stares but trying to not let it get under my skin.
Not many people know about it and those who do are now dead. I hated that I had to tell them but if I didn't tell them then Sunstreaker and his big fat gob would. I prefer that I'm the one who let it out. At least I have a little bit of control in the matter.
"Viol-" starts Lennox but I glare at him sharply, making him change his words.
"Shadow…" corrects Lennox making my glare lessen, he continues his previous concern, "What happened?"
I can see it again. In their eyes. Pity. All of them. I hate it.
"It doesn't matter," I say dismissively, moving my hair back over my eye.
"You're blind in one eye. It kinda does," adds Sideswipe.
"Let me change my words, you seemed to not get the message. It's none of your damn business," I state coldly.
I feel Ratchet scan over my eyes, making me visibly flinch.
"Ratchet," I growl in warning.
"Is that why you won't let me scan you? You didn't want me to know?" questions Ratchet.
I refuse to answer him as I look away.
"Do you have anymore scars across your body?" asks Ratchet making me feel more awkward and uncomfortable with all the questions.
"Pit…. These scars….." trails Ratchet going through the data he's collected.
"How young?" asks Sarah her voice strong but I can hear a slight tremor in her voice.
"What?" I ask quietly looking straight at her.
"These scars aren't new. How young was you?" repeats Sarah more emotion in her voice, using her no nonsense tone.
"18," I reply instantly my back straightening.
"The middle scar with a curve is around 10 years old. The stitches have been reopened and resown in that one line making it look more recent," adds Ratchet oh so helpfully.
"12," I mumble but loud enough for everyone to hear.
Sarah gasps for a second time and takes a step back, her eyes watering.
"Pit…." comments Ironhide.
"What kind of sicko would do that?" growls Lennox vexed.
I don't think I've seen him look so angry, his clenched fists are shaking.
"I've been blind in one eye since I was 12 which mean I've grown up with it. I've trained to fight with this, I've learnt to rely on hearing and instinct which is why I fight like I can see. Just because I'm half blind doesn't mean I'm weak," I explain my voice detached.
"That explains why you fought Sunstreaker so well as well as why you couldn't dodge his attack when he was right in front of you," says Ratchet.
"I hate those stupid holoforms! They make no sound when they appear so I can't tell that they are there until they move," I mutter grumpily.
To be an assassin and to not anticipate an attack that's right in front you is insulting and embarrassing. It hurts my pride.
"Why didn't you tell us?" asks Lennox.
"Why would I?" I ask in return guarded.
"We wouldn't think you was weak because your half blind, you've already proved that you're anything but weak," says Sideswipe encouragingly.
"I don't care if you thought I was weak because I'm half blind, if anything it gives me an edge because you think I'm weaker on my left side. It leaves my opponent to underestimate me," I say back.
"Then why?" asks Lennox.
I grit my teeth before I can reply.
"Because it's a reminder that at some point in my life someone overpowered me and did this to me, that I was weaker than them," I admit bitterly.
"You was a sparkling," says Ironhide softly.
"That doesn't matter. Age doesn't matter. It's who stronger in strength, cunning, ability. If a child is smart enough, they can topple a giant," I say strongly.
"Stop it. You need to understand that bad things happen to you sometimes and it doesn't matter how strong or smart your are, they happen and it's not your fault," says Sunstreaker surprising me, his voice firm with conviction.
I scoff at his words.
"Speaking from experience?" I ask.
"Quoting an old friend," replies Sunstreaker stiffly.
"They're stupid," I state harshly.
Sunstreaker's holoform immediately disappears and he transforms, his bipedal mode taking a step forward, Sideswipe moving swiftly, stopping Sunstreaker from taking another step.
"Sunstreaker," warns Ironhide as Sunstreaker's narrowed optics lock onto my cold unforgiving eyes.
On the outside I look unfazed but I'm ready to fight back if it comes to it. It looks like Sideswipe is communicating through the bond to Sunstreaker because he eventually shrugs his brother away and he turns his back to me.
"Don't ever say that again, fleshy," warns Sunstreaker and I can hear the anger that is barely contained in his voice.
If I do that again, he'll squish me for real. I touched a real sore spot insulting his friend.
"We all have scars you know. At some point we've all been overpowered by someone else. Pit, I've even lost an arm at some point. Bee's lost his voice box and legs. Even Prime has had some body parts replaced. It doesn't mean you're weak it shows you're true strength," says Ironhide passionately.
"You all lost something and got scars for a noble cause or 'for the greater good' which is why you take pride in it. I didn't get scars because I was trying to protect something or fight for a good cause or something heroic. I got these because I failed," I explain but I don't know why I try.
It's not like they could ever understand. After all they are all heroes, they can't understand who in the movie world would be considered a villain.
"I don't know why everyone is trying so hard to make it see differently. Let the squishy believe whatever it wants. If it's not smart enough to see differently so why bother trying," comments Sunstreaker arrogantly.
"I'm a woman Sunstreaker. A female, a femme. Not an it, got that robot?" I say venomously, my mood very sour.
"Cybertronian, I am not a robot," growls Sunstreaker.
"The transformers song says different," I retort.
"Transformers song?" questions Ironhide confused.
Sideswipe looks confused but intrigued. However Lennox looks highly amused.
"I believe it goes…. Transformers, Robots in disguise," I quote with a slight smirk.
"I am not a robot," repeats Sunstreaker tensely.
"You must be, you are a Transformer and the song says you are robots and you're in disguise which is true because of car form," I point out.
"Robots are incapable of emotions, they can not think for themselves. There is a vast difference us and them, I am not a robot," grits out Sunstreaker.
"And I'm not a fleshy or an it, got that Sunstreaker?" I state my voice dropping to serious and threatening immediately.
I stare straight into Sunstreaker's optics unrelentingly and he keeps my gaze. We stare or rather glare at each other, neither one of us backing down for even a moment as everyone else watches with a mix of interest and caution. Sunstreaker eventually nods and I nod back. A silent agreement between us not to call each other fleshy or robot. An alliance, truce on the matter.
"What did you fail?" questions Sarah Lennox.
I look over to her, breaking my gaze from Sunstreaker.
"You said you got it because you failed. What did you fail?" questions Sarah Lennox bringing back the previous topic.
My face returns to emotionless and coldness fills me to the point I have to repress a shiver.
"It's in the past," I mutter before I walk past them all and head into the house.
I don't owe them an explanation. I don't need to tell them anything. After all I've given away too much already.
—- ====================-
"Are you watching a movie?" questions Lennox.
I keep my eyes glued to the screen.
"Yep," I answer watching the action spy movie.
"I know it surprised me too," comments Mrs Lennox on the opposite end of the sofa.
"It's weird to see you watching a movie. It's so normal," comments Lennox perplexed.
"I'm analysing the fight patterns, spotting weaknesses and how to exploit them. I have to do something while I rest a little," I reply as Lennox sits down in the chair next to the sofa.
"Why are you analysing? Can't you just watch movies for the entertainment, for the fun?" asks Lennox trying to understand.
"I can't become dull in my skills. I need to be in top form all of the time. I don't watch movies for the fun. I need to keep my mind sharp and see if I can invent something that's going to be useful from the film," I explain watching the film closely.
"You're just a party animal, aren't you?" asks Lennox, making me look at him from the corner of my eye.
I can feel my lips want to pull up but I refuse to let it and I stay quiet looking back to the screen.
"Come on, Shadow. You're more robotic than the metal transforming aliens outside. What do you do for fun, really?" asks Lennox curious looking straight at me.
"Error. Does not compute," I answer in a flat voice, my face blank.
"Don't be so awkward Shadow. There must be something you enjoy doing?" insists Lennox.
Well I do enjoy collecting new daggers from my victims cold dead bodies but I think I'll keep that to myself.
"Wait you mentioned about inventing anything you think is useful from the movies. You must enjoy it if you do it. Can you invent a lightsaber?" questions Lennox seriously.
"It's not possible to create a long lightsaber like the movies, but I can create a small one with the right resources, although it's not very effective," I explain.
"For serious? A mini lightsaber? Don't play with my heart Shadow. A lightsaber is something I've wanted since I was a kid," says Lennox with a hand over his chest.
"Let me look at cybertronian technology and weaponry and I might be able to create a real one," I reply.
"Done. I want a blue one," replies Lennox instantly but we both know he's joking.
I put my eyes back to the screen to see the two main characters talk lovey dove. Ugh… they're going to kiss aren't they? I grab the remote and fast forward.
"What are you doing?" asks Lennox confused.
"Skipping the pointless bit," I state.
"Pointless? I know it can be cheesy but it's a part of the story. Love is not pointless," comments Lennox.
"Love. Pft. That's just a fairy tale. There's no such thing as love," I scoff.
"You don't actually believe that, do you?" asks Mrs Lennox.
I stay silent to her words but I frown. I feel their eyes locked onto the back of my head, I try to ignore them but the intensity of it really bothers me. I go to look for only a second but once I see their surprised faces I can't look away.
"What?" I grit out of my teeth irritated.
Mrs Lennox shakes her head snapping out of it while Lennox keeps that disturbed look on his face.
"We need to get you a boyfriend," comments Sarah looking back to the TV.
Will Lennox snaps out of it with a laugh at Sarah's comment while I openly glare at her.
"Don't you dare set me up on a date," I growl out fully out glaring.
Lennox jumps a little, freaked out while Mrs Lennox ignore me and keeps her eyes on the screen.
"I never said anything about setting you up but there are some nice humans and Autobots on the base," replies Mrs Lennox.
"Hmph," I grunt as I fold my arms and look back to the TV grumpily.
I hear Lennox give a relaxed sigh as I choose to ignore Sarah Lennox instead of verbally attacking her.
Me? Dating? Never. I will be surprised if I were dating in any of the multiverse, never mind this one. I focus back on the TV. Lennox's mobile rings out, he digs in his pocket and pulls it out and answers, "Lennox here."
I curiously look over to him out of the corner of my eye. His eyes widen before they narrow in determination.
"Yes sir. Right away sir," answers Lennox seriously leaning forward and standing up, all his muscles tense before he hangs up.
He spares a glance at his wide, looking guilty but she has understanding in her eyes as he nods. His gaze turns to me looking determined.
"Time to return," says Lennox seriously and what he says next gets my heart beating,
"We have a lead."
—-—-
It's finally time. The hunt is on.
