Thank you to Jazzilynn Hall for editing.
Thanks to my new followers and favourites. Thank you to guest and xVentressx for reviewing.
Let me know what you think. Remember to review, I love hearing your thoughts. Hopefully this chapter makes sense.
Starscream… the current leader of the Decepticons is standing right in front of me in holoform and he knows my alias… my criminal name.
"How do you know who I am?" questions Starscream confirming my suspicions,
"Only your voice can be that screechy," I explaining before asking my own question, "How do you know who I am?"
My eyes go over to Lennox and the rest of the Autobots. He's got my arm in a tight grip, that I can't break out of. My hand slowly goes to the dagger on my chest as Starscream notices I'm looking over his shoulder and he turns his head too look. I move quickly and slide my dagger out and I thrust it towards his chest subtly. A second before it goes through his chest, he grabs my wrist stopping it still. I grit my teeth in pain as Starscream nearly breaks my wrist in his grasp. It's definitely going to bruise at the very least.
"Let's not ruin the party," comments Starscream, looking back at me.
He has both of my arms trapped. Maybe I should shout for the Autobots. After all, this is only the holoform which means their alt forms must be close by.
"You know I have no problem killing humans if you make our presence known," threats Starscream.
"And why should I care?" I ask unbothered.
"It would be a shame to kill just because i wish to talk, it could be so easily avoided," answers Starscream.
I search his face and body language closely looking for any tell tale signs. Unfortunately, this is a holoform, not a human but at the very least I know of his character.
"You're a backstabbing liar, why should I believe you?" I ask coldly.
"Such cruel words when we've just met," mocks Starscream.
"Your reputation proceeds you, now answer my question," I demand.
"Not one to be distracted are you? I don't expect you to believe me but it doesn't change anything does it? The only certainty is that I will kill if you alarm others," answers Starscream.
Lennox is here and so is his wife and child. I frown slightly, unhappy. Noticing my silence he smirks. I feel his grasp loosen on one arm and I pull my right wrist back, putting the dagger back in place over my chest subtly. I look around discreetly but no one has noticed, we were standing so close, no one could tell.
"This way," states Starscream pulling me forwards towards Barricade by my left upper arm.
Once we get to Barricade I can see his hair hiding his eyes patch over his eye.
"You are both complete idiots," I state calmly to both Decepticons.
They both look a little confused and surprised at my insult.
"What?" questions Starscream almost speechless.
"You come here to a party where everyone is military personnel, a lot of them specially trained to defeat you and the Autobots are here as well," I explain their fatal mistake.
"Specially trained or not, humans are no threat," dismisses Starscream.
"Are you already forgetting that some of your troops died at our last battle?" I mock with a cruel smirk.
"Last time the attack was at a military base with weapons that a lot here don't possess," answers back Starscream confidently.
"I don't need many weapons to take you out, just one," I retort with my own confidence.
"Fiery little femme, aren't you?" comments Starscream however my attention is on Barricade who has stayed silent but he's glaring at me relentlessly ever since he's laid eyes on me.
"What?" I bite at him irritated.
"You broke my optic," growls Barricade.
"You destroyed my motorbike," I state like it's the same thing.
"I can't see out of my optic," replies Barricade, his one eye narrowing at me.
"I loved that bike," I reply back like it justifies everything.
He can at least get a new optic, my bike is totally done for. I don't have many possessions but that was my dearest one so in my eyes we're more than even. Barricade growls and his glare intensifies. He opens his mouth to speak but Starscream beats him to it before he can even start.
"Enough of that, we have more important things to talk about. We're going to get some unwanted attention if we keep standing as a three in the middle of the dance floor," comments Starscream asa he begins to notice a few stares.
"Okay. I'll go to the bar for a drink and you two can dance on the dance floor," I advise.
I know it won't work but if I can confuse them or throw them off a bit, it may help me. As I start to walk forward towards the bar, Starscream pulls me back by the arm he's already holding.
"Nice try human," remarks Starscream.
Hopefully someone around here will notice that but as I scan the crowd, I see that nobody does. I feel Barricade's death glare on me disappear and I look back to see Barricade's eyes are dim and I look at Starscream to see his eyes are the same. I give my arm an experimental tug but his hold is still tight, A second later, their eyes return to normal and Barricade turns around and walks off without even a nod.
"What's going on?" I ask suspiciously.
"We're doing your plan but instead of you at the bar, it's Barricade," states Starscream.
"And we'll be dancing," I conclude.
It's logical to blend in but I'm surprised a Decepticon would subject himself to this.
"Do you even know how to dance?" I question curious and doubtful.
If he doesn't then he's going to blow his own cover, not that I have a problem with that. It'll make things easier for me.
"Anything a human can do, a cybertronian can do too. all it takes is uploading the information," says Starscream arrogantly before his eyes goes dim for a second.
When his eyes return to normal, he grimaces.
"Some human dances are deplorable," comments Starscream before we change positions.
His arm slides down to my waist and his other hand grabs mine bringing it up. I cooperate and put my arm on his shoulder.
I follow his own flawless moves elegantly as we begin to blend in with the crowd on the dance floor. It doesn't bother me that we're dancing or how close we are. This isn't the first time I've danced with the enemy. Occasionally I've had to dance with a target before the kill. It was rare, as I normally kill with the target knowing I existed but sometimes I was required to infiltrate certain groups to gather information before killing.
"What are you up to, Starscream?" I ask, using his name hoping that someone useful will overhear me say the Decepticons name.
"What do you think, human?" questions back Starscream as we move to the slow beat.
"You had Barricade try to capture me. Next when I was shopping Barricade was there, it was a trap but not to capture me this time but to make everyone else turn on me. You worked with a human…. no, you did more than that. You got her to turn traitor. You exploited her," I analyse thinking through everything.
"You're the one who killed her," points out Starscream.
"Yes but that was a quick decision but you've planned this out. You attacked the base. You planted a traitor so you could attack…. but that's not your end game so what is?" I summarise before finishing with a question, searching his eyes for the answer.
"What makes you so sure that it wasn't all leading up to the base attack?" questions Starscream looking down at me.
"Because you wouldn't be here if that was all it was. So what else is there?" I question.
Its to do with the machine…. I know it is but they've never said and if I'm wrong than I'm revealing the machine existence. Starscream chuckles deeply and from our proximity I can feel his chest vibrate.
"You know… you and me are not so different," says Starscream lowly.
"We are nothing alike," I hiss glaring at him.
As if he's insinuating that.
"No…..? Deceptive….Cunning…." starts Starscream listing things off, his hand moving from my waist to my back bring us closer, going further up with each word.
I stiffen at the contact as his hand travels but I refuse to break eye contact.
"…..Smart…. Manipulating…. Ruthless… Cold…. Survivor…." smirks Starscream as he finds the dagger at my back and he pulls it out, "…. a backstabber."
My eyes narrow and that word strikes me in a bad way and he slides the dagger in his pocket subtly.
"You are a backstabbing coward whose power thirsty, we are not alike," I growl angrily.
"You can deny it all you want but we both have energon staining our servos. We both know the importance of self preservation. The Autoscum may think they know you. They think you more innocent than they want to believe but we know the truth," answers Starscream.
"Which is?" I ask with begrudging curiosity.
He leans closer and I can feel his breath on my ear.
"You are more Decepticon than Autobot," answers Starscream lowly before pulling back.
He doesn't mean physically. Physically I'm human but mentally…. I push him back slightly so I can have more space. I would never admit it but Starscream this close to me makes me unsettled, uncomfortable.
"What does any of this have to do with you being here?" I ask firmly undeterred.
"I see I missed stubborn on that list," comments Starscream.
"Tell me or I walk," I threat.
"I'm checking that staying with the Autobots hasn't made you soft but I can see that it has," answers Starscream confusing me further.
"What do you mean?" I question my eyes narrowing.
His eyes goes towards the dagger on my chest and his hand goes towards it.
"I mean that you-" Starscream starts but I interrupt and grab his wrist in an iron grip before he can touch the golden handle of the dagger.
"Not that one," I order seriously.
We lock eyes and he can see that if he wants to take that dagger he's going to fight me for it. Starscream chuckles but he relents as he moves his hand and places it on my waist like his other hand as we sway. I move my hand on the other side of his neck. Thats two hands near his neck. I wonder what will happen if I snap his neck. My hands are in position if I decide to. When I lose interest in this conversation, I will.
"You haven't lost your edge, I see despite everything. Do you want to remove the other weapons or will I have to?" asks Starscream.
If he can find them.
"What did you mean?" I ask ignoring his question, bringing it back to our earlier conversation.
"You allowed yourself to be swayed. You were suppose to kill those humans," answers Starscream.
The robbery.
"It was a test. You set it up. I knew there were too many robbers for a simple heist," I realise before my eyes narrow.
I hate being tested.
"Why?" I question dangerously.
His hand starts to wonder down my thigh slowly going for the next hidden dagger. I have to repress a shiver of disgust. This is more important.
"You've been surrounded by Autobots for a while now. We had to be sure that they hadn't rubbed off on you. That you're not compromised," explains Starscream but that leads to more questions.
Compromised?
His hand finds the slit of my dress and his hand touches my skin, inching closer to the dagger.
"What do you mean?" I ask further.
"We've been watching you, Shadow. Always watching and waiting," states Starscream but it puzzles me further.
I open my mouth to ask more questions but a new voice cuts in.
"I believe this next dance is mine," says a deep voice from my side.
We both turn our heads and Starscream retracts his hand. A new hand grabs my waist pulling me away from Starscream.
Sunstreaker?
I look between the two calculatingly. Does he know who this is? Sunstreaker is glaring at him but if Sunstreaker knew then they would already be fighting.
"Of course, enjoy your little dance," sneers Starscream, bowing his head slightly, so his red eyes are hidden.
I doubt Sunstreaker would even know red is not a normal eye colour for a human. Starscream turns his back and begins to blend in with the crowd.
"Wait!" I call out, reaching a hand out but Sunstreaker keeps a firm grip on my was it, keeping me from moving further forward.
What does he mean? What the hell is going on? Sunstreaker clasps my outstretched hand making me look at him.
"Let him leave," orders Sunstreaker.
I look back but its too late. I've lost visual.
"Why did you interfere? I wasn't finished," I ask annoyed as we begin dancing.
That beat is different. It's a little faster.
"That's a funny way of saying thank you," scoffs Sunstreaker as he leads the dance.
"Thank you?" I ask disbelievingly.
"You're welcome," grins Sunstreaker before he spins me out and spins me back.
My back against his chest. I tilt my head to the side as he holds my hips.
"That's not what I mean and you know it. What are you doing?" I grit out, my face close to his.
"You looked uncomfortable with him," states Sunstreaker.
No duh…. It's Starscream but of course he doesn't know that. I spin around to face hm.
"So you thought I needed rescuing?" I ask mockingly.
"No. I know that you don't. You're not that type of femme. But I was confused as to why you would let him touch you like that," answers Sunstreaker, his hand on my back as we move in synch.
His grip tightens but I pay it no mind.
"Why does it matter? It's nothing to do with you," I say as I lean in close to him, looking over his shoulder to see any sign of either Decepticon.
"Damn it Sunstreaker. I've completely lost him," I mutter frustrated.
"Does that mech mean so much to you?" asks Sunstreaker.
"He means nothing to me-" I start but Sunstreaker scoffs.
"Unlikely. You let him touch you like that and now you're trying to find him despite the fact I'm letting you dance with me," interrupts Sunstreaker arrogantly.
"Lettin-" I start surprised at his arrogance when he unexpectedly dips me.
I nearly gasp at the sudden move, my hands tightening around him in instinct and all I can see is his face. His intense blue eyes piercing through me, a look in his eyes I can't explain.
"If a femme is lucky enough to dance with me then I expect her full attention," states Sunstreaker lowly before he pulls us back up.
I look at him unable to look away as he demands my attention. I even forget my original thoughts. My hands still holding onto him tightly despite the fact we're standing up…. standing my body against his….
"You can dance?" I ask slightly confused as we continue our dance.
This isn't like Starscream dancing to the steps with stiffness, doing it almost robotically. He didn't just download this information. He's dancing his own steps, his own way, out of his own emotion.
"Have you just noticed? This isn't my first dance. We had dances back on Cybertron," reveals Sunstreaker.
I nod in understanding. Of course other civilisations will have dances. I let my body follow his closely.
"The other reason why I wanted to dance is that I wanted to talk without being overheard. I've been thinking since our conversation," starts Sunstreaker.
"Our conversation wasn't too long ago," I deadpan.
"Cybertronians think much faster than humans," replies Sunstreaker.
I roll my eyes at his arrogance.
"And how could you possible know?" I ask.
"Your brains are tiny," replies Sunstreaker easily.
"That doesn't stop me from outsmarting you," I retort just as easily.
"Watch it femme," growls Sunstreaker but all it does is encourage me.
I get close looking up at him fearlessly.
"Or what, mech?" I ask mockingly, my face close to his mockingly.
"Who are you to insult me?" asks Sunstreaker frowning.
"Who are you to look down on me?" I ask in turn, our faces cm's apart.
A silence overcomes us as we stare off. Neither one of us moving away despite our closeness, unflinchingly.
"I thought I could talk you into staying for Sideswipe's sake. It's going to upset him when he realises that you're gone. When you come back, he will get in the way and you'll hurt him. He'll feel betrayed. Which means it's my job to stop you from leaving," declares Sunstreaker.
"What are you going to do? Keep me in your alt mode?" I ask.
He twitches at the thought of a human inside go him but answers nevertheless.
"If I have to. I will do whatever it takes so my brother won't get hurt," determines Sunstreaker.
"And that will be your downfall. And if I stay, it will be mine too," I state.
Starscream is right to some degree. I am a survivor. And like a switch, I remember my main priority. I take a step back, releasing him and look around. My face searches the crowd, nearly desperately but I still can't see him. I'm on full alert.
"What is it?" questions Sunstreaker seeing my demeanour as he lets me go. I curse in Spanish before I speak english.
"You distracted me. Starscream got away," I answer.
"Starscream?" questions Sunstreaker puzzled.
"Yes. That was Starscream's holoform I was dancing with," I answer absentmindedly as I scan the crowd.
Sunstreaker's face scrunches up.
"And you let him touch you like that?" questions Sunstreaker in disgust.
"It was purely business. He was going for my hidden dagger. You stopped him before he could grab it. He managed to get the one hidden on my back," I explain.
"Why didn't you inform anyone?" growls Sunstreaker.
"Because he threatened to kill those around us and that could have included Sarah and Annabelle," I answer, slipping back to first names.
"Barricade is here too," I add trying to see if I could spot either.
"They must be nearby. Time to kick some con aft," announces Sunstreaker.
I turn around to see Sunstreaker's holoform disappear from existence. A few people around me shout or even scream in alarm of a person disappearing out of existence. Panic begins. I rush through the crowd and I look over to the Autobots. I see their eyes dim before they disappear from view at the same time, despite them being in separate locations. Sunstreaker must of told them. In the panic of the room, I see Lennox making his way to Sarah.
"Sarah! I think it's the cons!" calls Lennox.
Fig curses in Spanish as Sarah turns to the baby car seat.
"Lennox. It's Starscream and Barricade," I inform as I reach them.
Lennox doesn't ask how I know and instead forms a plan.
"Okay. We need to get outsi-" starts Lennox before a scream pierces through the room.
A familiar scream. Sarah's scream. We all look over to her screaming form and I look past her to see the seat. It's empty…..
Son of a- I don't wait to see Lennox's heartbroken face. Instead I run out of the building. I stop and listen carefully trying to make out any sound that can help. I notice that all of the Autobots are gone.
"Sarah, get back inside. It's not safe," orders Lennox behind me.
They must of followed me out.
"Like hell! Those monsters took my baby. I'm going to kick their-" rants Sarah but I cut her off.
"Be quiet!" I exclaim over her.
She shuts up and I close my eyes concentrating. There! I run off to the right into the woods surrounding us. The Lennox's follow me as I hear footsteps. Big ones. As we get closer we hear gunfire and-
"That's Annabelle crying," realises Sarah in horror.
She's further behind unable to keep up at my pace but I can still hear her. And then…. silence. For a moment there is no sound and then Annabelle's cries pierces the silence. It edges us all to run faster and faster, weaving in and out of the trees until we come to an abrupt stop.
Ironhide is bleeding on his right shoulder with Ratchet next to him. To the far end is Prime, his face guard is up but all of them have worry, anger, and fear in their optics. Sunstreaker, Sideswipe and Bumblebee must be chasing after Barricade. Standing in front of us at the cliff's edge is Starscream holding Annabelle over the cliff, over the cold, unforgiving waves. Annabelle screams and it chills me to the core. However I stay focused. I start formulating a plan.
"Annabelle!" screams Sarah and she runs forward.
Will grabs her, holding her back, keeping her away from harm but I can see the pain in his eyes. The pain of a father. He wants to run forward as well. It's killing him inside to see Annabelle in danger and all he can do is hold his wife back as she shouts and screams. The cybertronians notice and look our way, each of their faces different levels of emotion. Ironhide looks pained to see his charges this was and full of regret. Ratchet is full of worry and Prime's optics flicker with pain and worry for a second before he hardens his eyes.
"Starscream let the sparkling go, She is nothing to do with this war. She's completely innocent," states Prime.
Starscream smirks evilly and I know it's no use. Starscream doesn't care. I move my hands behind my belt and I unclasp it. I flick open the end of the belt. Inside my belt is a thin, strong wire. As I speak I tie the wire around one of my daggers.
"That's where you're wrong Prime. Our war became theirs when you enlisted their help. Every single human whether young or old," replies Starscream.
"That's not just, Starscream. Surely even you can see that sparkling is completely innocent. It doesn't deserve to be apart of this," reasons Ratchet.
"That didn't stop the sparkling of Cybertron from being dragged into the war," states Starscream solemn.
A bitter, remorseful silence fills the air for the moment. It feels heavy with all the weight of death in it.
"Besides if I give up the fleshy so easily how am I going to escape? You won't just let me go," adds Starscream.
My eyes narrow in anger. She's just a bargaining chip to him. I could kill Starscream with the amount of anger I feel right now. He really is a coward. Starscream as if feeling my deadly intent looks directly at me and then he smirks evilly.
"Damn it, Starscream! You slagger! You let the sparkling go now before I blast you to the scrapheap!" shouts Ironhide in rage.
"No Ironhide," calls Prime but it's too late.
"Let it go? That sounds like a great idea," purrs Starscream his smirk widening.
The next thing that happens makes everything slow down. Like the whole moment is in slow motion. He lets Annabelle go above the cold unforgiving sea. My heart stops….. and then it drops into my stomach. I begin to move before I even know it. I hear Sarah's scream and I'm aware of both parents running forward from behind me. I get closer to the edge. I hear the shout of the Autobots, Ironhide being the loudest as he dives forward. Starscream starts transforming so he can fly away while we all focus on Annabelle. I block it all out as I focus on Annabelle. At the point she's falling, she's still above because of Starscream's height. I haven't even planted the dagger anywhere first. I haven't even looked at which tree will be able to hold our weight but there's no time. I begin to turn before I leap backwards off the cliff and I throw my dagger with as much force as possible. I aim for Ironhide and it goes through his right arm before it anchors itself there. I catch Annabelle firmly, holding her to my chest with one hand while I hold the wire with my other hand. Time returns to normal, speeding back up. The wires straighten up completely and I brace myself, tucking myself in before I hiss in pain at the backlash. I want to let go of the wire as the wire cuts into my hand and I feel like my arm is going to pull out of the socket. My back and neck hurt at the backlash. Next, comes to the tricky part, the wire begins to swing at the edge of the cliff, I force my body to relax so my legs can absorb the shock better. I bend my knees and I breathe out. My feet hits against the cliff and I resist the urge to push back and instead I absorb the impact in my legs and we bounce back a little before we come back to the wall gently. I use my feet to plant us. I was tempted to throw the dagger through Starscream but he would pull it out or fly at a high speed with us still attached. Whereas Ironhide, he would make sure that Annabelle doesn't fall.
"Violet!"
I hear Sarah's voice and I look up to see her and Lennox looking over the side of the cliff.
"Pull us up!" I shout loudly.
"Ironhide! Pull them up!" orders Lennox frantic.
I feel us start to move up. I look down to Annabelle, she's crying but I took the brunt of everything. She's fine… she's fine. I sigh in relief and I relax my grip on her slightly. She's safe. Ratchet will have to check over her but she's not bleeding. Her cries are quieter and she's starting to calm down which is a good sign. I see Ironhide gradually rise us under Ratchet's guidance. Ironhide's finger replacing the cliff side so we don't have to worry about being scrapped up the side of the cliff and he lifts us up. I see Sarah's and Lennox's relieved faces below. They see I have her. I hear a sound behind me of that of a gun shot making my heart stop. I only have time to do one thing.
"Ironhide!" I shout as I hear an engine behind.
As gently as I can I throw Annabelle forward a millisecond before the bullet pierces the wire. Ironhide's finger underneath the wire turns around to his palm catching Annabelle safely as I feel huge fingers grasp around my body. The breath is sucked out of me and the sound of a loud engine fills my ears. Starscream flew off and circled back I realise grimly. His grip is tight, too tight. Starscream tries to fly up over the Autobots but Prime jumps up and grabs one of his wings. Starscream spins quickly making me close my eyes at the whirlwind of colours and the different shift of gravity. My ears hurt so much and I hold my hands over my ears, trying to block the sound out. It's even worse since my ears is above average to compensate the fact that I'm blind in one eye. I grit my teeth and open my eyes once I feel like we've stopped spinning.
"Shadow!" calls Prime surprising me.
I look down to see him falling. Starscream must of shaken him off.
"Blasted Prime," mutters Starscream as we lower towards the ground gradually.
I look up to see the smoke from Starscreams right wing. It's damaged. Prime must of done some damage before he fell off. Starscream picks up the speed trying to put distance between us and Prime but we make a steady decline. The wind stings my face and I feel like I have a thousand needles digging into me. As we lower to the floor, Starscream lets me go abruptly as he transforms. I roll across on the grass, my new dress getting dirt on it and rips. I grab my dagger on my thigh and I twist my body, stabbing the dagger down into the ground, slowing my movement as I crouch low to the ground. I skid back, my feet sliding back as I keep a firm grip on my dagger. Starscream crashed behind me in the trees in bipedal mode.
"That slagging Prime ruining everything," complains Starscream looking ahead in the distance somewhere.
While he's looking away I act. I can't outrun him. I'm going to have to fight. Besides…. I'm too angry to run. He's just made the list of people who I'll kill out of hate. Congratulations Starscream, only 2 other people are on that list and I've killed the other 2 at some point in my life (Even though Despiadado did come back.) I rush forward, the dagger firmly in hand, out of the ground. His wing is damaged at the moment he is looking away, sitting on the ground. I run to his left side and as he leans forward to curse Prime in the night sky, I begin climbing up his back. It's only then he realises I'm not there, making him stand suddenly. I cling on tightly making my way to the top of his other wing.
"Where have you gone, femme? You can't hide from me," calls out Starscream, his eyes facing the trees in front, no doubt looking for some sort of heat signature.
"I have no intention of hiding from you, you piece of scrap metal," I announce before I drive my dagger into his wing and jump.
My weight pulls the dagger down his wing. He shouts in pain and tries to reach his back. The dagger suddenly stops getting caught on something, making me jerk and let go of the dagger. I drop to the floor gambolling forward as he curses me. I look up in time to see him throwing a fist towards me. I dive forward and spring off my hand doing a flip. My feet hit the ground but I leap backwards keeping my front to him, creating distance.
"I heard seekers wings are the most sensitive part of a seekers body. That means that must of hurt a hell of a lot. Good," I sneer at him, glaring.
"You didn't run," states Starscream, his red eyes glowing in the dark, the only light here.
"There's no way I were running if there's a chance to inflict pain on you for what you did to Annabelle," I say lowly.
"So you risked your life for revenge? That's not very Autobot like," asks Starscream.
"I'm no Autobot," I growl out.
Starscream begins laughing to my slight surprise and annoyance.
"No, you're not. But you want to be a part of them so much. You want to be one of them," laughs Starscream mockingly.
"Who the hell says I want to be one of them?" I question but that encourages Starscream even more.
"Haha, you cannot fool me girl. I can see it behind your eyes. It's what you want oh so desperately. But that's not where you belong. You are like me. A backstabber, literally," mocks Starscream as he pulls the dagger out and throws it to the ground, embedded in the ground less than a footstep away from me.
No… two daggers, my earlier dagger he took. He's giving them back. Why? He's either really arrogant or stupid. Actually he's both. And then his words catch up to me.
"I am nothing like you. I would never use an innocent child as a shield," I hiss venomously.
"Oh don't act so righteous. As I've said earlier, I've been watching you. Do you think they will ever accept you? They tolerate you, it's different," doubts Starscream.
"What's it matter? I couldn't be an Autobot or Decepticon even if I wanted to," I state dimly.
"Don't be too sure about that. We chose you for a reason girl," declares Starscream.
Chose me? For what?
"What do you mean?" I question defensively.
He starts laughing and it's not his usual laugh. It actually gives me a chill up my spine as I suddenly feel over-washed with a bad feeling.
"You'll see. You're nearly ready and when you are, remember which side you belong to," answers Starscream, confusing me further.
He turns his back on me and begins to walk away. What does he mean ready? Ready for what?
"What do you mean?" I ask again, nearly desperate to know as a panic builds up inside me.
Starscream ignores me as he carries on laughing.
"Hey! Answer me Starscre-" I demand but I cut myself off as my chest feels like it explodes with fire and yet it feels ice cold, like burning ice.
My breath is stolen and my legs give out. I grip my chest urgently finding it hard to breathe. I feel panic overtake me and I try my best to push it down. This is Starscream's fault, I don't know how, I just know it's him.
"What have you done to me?" I grit out on my knees.
I see black in my vision as I start to feel darkness overtake me. I desperately fight it off, blinking rapidly.
"Rest femme," orders Starscream.
I begin to shake violently. I resist the pull to the darkness. I refuse. Not with Starscream around.
"We'll come for you. We're coming for you….. Demitra," declares Starscream.
My eyes widen in pure shock and I try to look at him. He said my real name. My birth name. How the hell does he know that? How did he find out? I can't see him as my vision is completely black. My brain and chest burning. The last thing I hear is someone yelling my name before everything goes black.
Eventually, the past always comes back to haunt you. It's relentless. Everything I've pushed behind me has sprung back in my face with a force I couldn't predict. Everything I've covered up, every secret, every skeleton in the closet is coming out. Is there really any point of hiding things anymore? I'm not ready. I'm not ready to face my own past. I keep running, further and further and yet I'm not running fast enough. Maybe it's futile. Maybe it's our punishment. The more we push back our dark secret the bigger the recoil. The worse the punishment. But there is still some things I'm going to hide, still some skeletons I'm pushing in the closet because there are some things that are unforgivable. That are unspeakable and yet I wonder and dread how big the backlash will be if it's ever discovered…
