"Sonic, wake up! It's morning already!" Shouted a voice. Sonic sat up and stretched with a loud yawn. He'd had a wonderful sleep and now he was all rested and ready for action. He ran outside and was greeted by three friendly faces. They belonged to Molly, Gil and Goby. He smiled. "Morning, kids," he said. "Good morning," said Molly. "Did you know there's a slingshot on sale?" Asked Gil. "I wish I could buy one."
"A slingshot, huh?" Said Sonic. "I think I'll take a look." The kids waved to Sonic as he zipped off to find Epona. He stopped shot when he found her next to Nonny. "Hi, Nonny. Is Epona all set?" He inquired. "Almost," replied Nonny. He gave Epona a good wash and told Sonic "Now she's ready."
"Thanks," said Sonic as he jumped on Epona and rode into town.
Epona was much happier now that her passenger was wide awake as she trotted into the village. Sonic stopped outside the village toy shop and hopped off Epona. He went inside the toy shop where he found a kindly old lady with a cat by her side. "Hello, Sonic. Come in," she said. "I am Sera, the keeper of this shop. What can I get you?" She asked him. Sonic liked her almost immediately because she was so kind. Plus, she was the mother of Molly, Gil and Goby. "Well, Sera," said Sonic. "I'd like to buy that slingshot please." He paid her thirty rupees and she gave it to him. "Here you go, Sonic. But don't you think you're a little too old for toys?" Asked Sera. "I don't care," said Sonic. Sera laughed. "Well, if you say so, Sonic," she said. "Have a nice day."
As Sonic headed back to his house, Rusl blocked his path. "Excuse me," said Sonic. "Hello, Sonic," said Rusl. "I have something for you." He handed Sonic a wooden sword. "Cool. Thanks, man," grinned Sonic. "No problem. Have a good day, son," said Rusl as he walked off, clearing Sonic's path. Sonic then headed over to the kids. "Sonic, is that a slingshot?" Asked Gil in surprise. "Yep," said Sonic. "Oh wow. Did you buy that for us?" Asked Goby. "Well, your mom says I'm kinda too old for toys," said Sonic with a chuckle. "So, here you go." He handed the slingshot to Goby. "That's okay, Sonic," said Goby, handing it back. "You should keep it."
"You sure?" Asked Sonic. "Totally," replied Goby. "However, we would like to see what you can do with it."
"Okay. If you say so," said Sonic. As the kids stood back, Sonic aimed the slingshot and hit four targets plus three scarecrows, making seven perfect shots all together. "Wow, that was amazing!" Exclaimed Molly. "What about that sword? Can you teach us how to use that?"
"Okay, sure," said Sonic. So a lesson commenced. The kids watched very carefully as Sonic showed them how to do a slice, a spin attack, a stab and a jump attack. "And a jump attack is especially useful cause it implies double the damage," he said at the end of the lesson. "You sure you want me to keep the slingshot?"
"Sure," said Goby. "We don't really mind. Besides, we're too young for weapons."
"Fair enough," said Sonic.
