Sophie's POV…
I hadn't gotten that far in my running (got at least two minutes in) when I felt someone grab my arm.
"Sophie…"
I tore my arm from the Doctor's grip as soon as his voice said my name. "Let go of me!" I spat, glaring at him. "And leave me alone!"
The Doctor looked hurt and it sparked a rage in me. He had no right to look hurt! My hands clenched and unclenched, fighting the urge to smack him. I never felt this angry before. It wasn't in my nature. But here I was, angry and wanting to smack the Doctor. I was hurt that he didn't defend me against Rose. Remembering what my so called friend said,
"What's wrong?" he asked after a moment. The question didn't help my anger. "You just took off."
"Oh I overheard your talk with Rose!" I snapped angrily, still clenching and unclenching my fists.
The Doctor flinched. He must have noticed the anger in my voice. His eyes looked sad and apologetic. I didn't know if it was because of the fact that he felt bad for not defending me or because of what Rose said.
"Soph…" He reached out to touch my shoulder but I backed away, and his hand floated in the air. He dropped his hand to his side. "Rose didn't mean…"
"Don't you dare, Doctor!" I snarled. "She did mean it! And if you think she didn't mean it, you're being a stupid, dense, gullible idiot!" If I wasn't this angry, I would have felt bad about hurting his feelings, but I was so I didn't give a crap. "But you know what hurt the most…" I said deathly calm. I could feel tears stinging my eyes. "Was that you didn't even defend me! You just stood there! You didn't do anything! Don't you care!"
"I did defend you!" The Doctor exclaimed, narrowing his eyes at me. "You just weren't there when I did! And of course I care, Sophie!" He stopped and mumbled so quietly that I didn't think I heard him say it, "A little too much, I think."
"What?" I asked, blinking.
"Nothing!" His voice went high and squeaky. He cleared his throat and when he spoke, this time, it was normal, "Rose shouldn't have said those things about you. It's not true." His cheeks turned slightly red, "I think you're beautiful. Inside and out."
This made me tears gather in my eyes. No one had ever said something like that to me before. A fluttery feeling filled my stomach.
"Doctor…" I said, sounding out of breath. I couldn't help but touch his cheek and he leaned into my touch, holding my hand, keeping it there on his cheek. It didn't take me long to realize what I was doing and I tore my hand away and took a step back. "I can't…" I sucked in a breath, "I'm sorry. But you may have defended me, but I just can't forgive you or Rose…" I hated to admit this, but I think that it would be best if I left. If I stayed here, I knew that I would get my heart broken by the Doctor. I knew that I was feeling something for the Doctor but I couldn't. I just couldn't. I wouldn't allow myself to fall in love with him. That had happened to me before. Giving into the feelings I felt for someone that I thought loved me as much as I loved him. But I only ended getting my heart broken. I wasn't about to let that happen again.
"I think it would be best if I left," I finally admitted out loud.
The Doctor looked at me wide eyed. "What?" he breathed out. "Soph… you don't have to leave."
"Yeah, I do," I said quietly. At this moment, I wanted him to beg me to stayed, but he didn't. Instead, he said,
"Alright... If that's what you want."
"Yeah…it is…"
We didn't say anything to each other for a while. The Doctor was the one who broke the silence, holding out his hand.
"Come on then, let's get back to the others," he said.
I hesitated on grabbing his hand, but I did anyway.
"What happened after I ran off?" I asked.
The Doctor's grip on my hand tightened at the mention of me, running off. He wasn't looking at me. After a moment, he explained what happened. He was finished by the time we caught up with the rest of the gang, who was by my Aunt Sarah Jane's car. My aunt was the first one to notice us and she quickly went over to me, swooping me into a hug.
"Sophie? What happened? Why did you run off like that?" she asked, hugging me tighter with each question.
"I've been wondering that myself," Rose said as my aunt broke the hug.
I glared at her heatedly. "Oh you would know," I sneered at her and she looked taken aback.
"What is she talking about?" Rose looked at the Doctor, taking notice to the fact that he was glaring at her as well. Then she looked back and forth between trying to figure out what was going on. My aunt and Mickey looked on in confusion. "Will someone tell me what's going on?" She demanded, giving up on trying to figure it out herself.
"She heard what you said," The Doctor answered. "Back at the chip shop."
Immediately Rose looked guilty and the angry part of me was happy that she looked that way. She should feel guilty.
"Soph, I'm—"
"Don't," I cut her off, coldly. "Don't apologize. It's not worth. You'll be glad to know that after all this is over, I'm leaving with my Aunt Sarah Jane."
A sad look crossed the Doctor's face but I barely caught a glimpse of it because as soon as I looked at him, it was gone.
"If that's alright with you," I continued, looking over at my aunt.
"Of course." Then she frowned, "But what did Rose say to you?"
I sighed and lowered my voice so Rose and the Doctor wouldn't hear, "Can I tell you about what she said later?"
My aunt looked at me for a moment before nodding. "Alright love," she told me in a low voice too. "But tell me everything."
"I will," I promised.
I was the last one to get in the car. We were going to be staying at Sarah Jane's for the night since we couldn't go into the TARDIS because of the fact that I was inside the school. Unfortunately, I had to sit in the middle of the Doctor and Rose in the back seat. I didn't say anything to them and they didn't say anything to me. I leaned my forehead against the cool window, lost in thought. But the one thought that stayed in my mind as we drove to Sarah Jane's place was,
If it was best that I left the Doctor, why did it hurt so much?
I knew the reason as soon as that question invaded my mind. I had to admit it to myself … I was in love with the Doctor.
And the thought of me leaving him hurt in ways unimaginable.
But I was still going to leave… at least that's what I was telling myself…

While everyone went to bed, I stayed up and made myself a cup of tea. Once it was finished, I went into the living room and I settled myself on the on the couch, taking a sip of the tea. I sighed, finding myself lost in thought once more.
Though I told Rose I would be leaving after all this was over, but now I was rethinking it once again. God… I set my tea down and let my head fall in my hands. Why was this a hard decision? If I chose to stay, then I would end up getting my heart broke by the Doctor but if I left, I would end up getting my heart broken anyway… I wish that someone could make this decision for me, but I knew that was impossible. I would have to make it and it would either make or break me.
I felt a tap on my shoulder made me jump and I glanced up to see that it was my aunt. I smiled weakly at her.
"Hey," I greeted, grabbing my tea again to take another sip of it. My aunt sat down next to me.
"Want to tell me what happened?"
"Would you like some tea?" I asked quickly, standing up. "I can make you some."
"No, it's quite alright." Sarah Jane patted the spot where I was, "Come on, love. Tell me what happened."
I reluctantly sat back down, took a deep breath, and told her everything. By the time I finished, I had tears in my eyes and my aunt had her arm around my shoulders.
"Don't listen to her, Soph," Sarah Jane told me softly. "She's just jealous that the Doctor has feelings for you."
I sniffed, "No, he doesn't." I stayed quiet for a moment, "Why would he have feelings for me? I'm not anything special."
"But you are," my aunt pressed sternly. "You're very special." She sighed as I leaned against her, "I hate that you think so lowly of yourself." I looked down at my lap, twirling my thumbs. "You need to give yourself more credit. You're beautiful, Sophie. Strong. Full of light. And you have a lot to offer the world. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. The Doctor does have feelings for you; I've seen it in his eyes when he looks at you. He may not admit these feelings, but he does have them. He's just scared. Scared of falling in love, of getting his heart broke. Because everything has its time…"
"And everything ends," I finished along with my aunt. I had heard that saying many times.
"And no one knows that better than the Doctor," My aunt told me softly. "You're only human, Soph, you will die while the Doctor won't. And that's why he won't admit those feelings, because he knows you'll die and he would yet again lose someone he loves."
"Love?"
"Yes, I believe that the Doctor's in love with you too." My aunt met my eyes. "And I know that you're in love with him. Always have been. You would have get that look in your eyes – the look that you give the Doctor now – when I would tell you those stories about the Doctor. But you were too young to know what love is and, and it's beautiful. Stay with him, Sophie. He needs you."
"But what if I get my heart broken?" I said quietly.
"I can't say that you won't," My aunt told me. "But you have to remember that some things are worth getting your heart broken for." She smiled at me as I leaned my head against my aunt's shoulder and she rested her head on mine, taking a hold of my hand.
"Thank you," I whispered. I felt my aunt kiss the top of my head.
"You're welcome, love."
I closed my eyes, rethinking about what my aunt said. The question still remained … should I stay or should I go?

The next morning, we drove up to the school and we all got out just in time to hear the school bell ring, striding up to the school. I stayed behind with Mickey, not wanting to be near Rose or the Doctor. I ignored the Doctor glancing back at me as we walked, but his gaze was gone from mine as he got to the task at hand.
"Rose, Sarah, and Sophie, you go to the Math room," The Doctor said. What was he doing? "Crack open those computers, I need to see the hardware inside. Here, you might need this." He took out the sonic and Rose held out her hand to take it, but he didn't hand it to her. He handed it to me. I grasped in my hand, looking down at it as he said to Mickey, "Mickey – surveillance. I want you outside."
"Just stand outside?" Mickey said, stopping in his walking. I stopped beside him, hearing the disappointed tone in his voice. I knew that he was still thinking that he was just the tin dog. Though I haven't known Mickey for long, I already considered him a friend. I gave his hand a squeeze with the hand that wasn't holding the sonic.
"Here take these –"My aunt chucked Mickey her car keys and he easily caught them, "You can keep K9 company."
I spoke up, "Actually, I think I'll stay outside with Mickey."
This stopped the Doctor in his tracks and he looked taken a back. He turned to towards me.
"What?"
"I'm staying out here with Mickey," I repeated myself. "I'm sure Rose can handle it and my aunt's there too so there's no need for me to be there." I glanced at Mickey, "If that's fine with you."
"Yeah, it's cool."
"Great," I said as I threw the sonic to my aunt, who caught it. "Good luck."
"You too."
With that, I left with Mickey, but not before I heard Rose ask the Doctor,
"So, what are you going to do?"
I could feel the Doctor's gaze on me as he replied, "It's time I had a word with Mr. Finch."
'Good luck to you too, Doctor.' I couldn't help but think. Though I was still mad, I didn't want him to get hurt. I glanced back to look at them, hoping to meet the Doctor's eyes, but they were heading towards the school.
The Doctor opened the door to the swimming pool area and stepped inside. Over on the opposite side of the pool waiting was Mr. Finch. Putting thoughts of Sophie in the back of his mind, he got straight to the point.
"Who are you?"
"My name is Brother Lassa. And you?"
"The Doctor. Since when did Krillitanes have wings?"
"It's been our form for nearly ten generations now. Our ancestors invaded Bessan. The people there had some rather lovely wings. They made a thousand widows in one, just imagine."
The Doctor raised a brow, looking the man over. "And now you're shaped human?"
Mr. Finch smirked, "A personal favorite that's all."
"And the others?"
"My brothers remain bat form. What you see is a simple morphic illusion. Scratch the surface and the true Krillitane lies beneath."
The Doctor stared at him as they slowly began to walk towards the same side of the pool.
"And what of the Time Lords?" Mr. Finch questioned and the Doctor almost flinched at the mention of his people. I always thought of you as a pompous race. Ancient, dusty, senators, so frightened of change and … chaos. And of course – they're all but extinct. Only you. The last." He was obviously bating him to make him angry.
The Doctor wasn't going to let that happen so he kept his face straight, clear of all emotions, as he asked, "This plan of yours – what is it?"
"You don't know."
"That's why I'm asking." By now, they had gotten to the same side of the pool and now were facing each other. The tension was rising.
"Well, show me how clear you are," Mr. Finch challenged. "Work it out."
"If I don't like it… then it will stop."
Mr. Finch considered him, slowly titling his head to the side, much like a owl would, "Fascinating. You people were peaceful to the point of indolence. You seem to be something new. Would you declare war on us, Doctor?"
"I'm so old, now," The Doctor said quietly. "I used to have so much mercy." And now, he only would give him one chance. One chance not to do what he was planning. "You get one warning. That was it." He turned his back on Finch and started to walk away only to be interrupted by Mr. Finch speaking.
"But we've not even enemies. Soon… you will embrace us."
The Doctor turned back to look at him, but didn't say anything.
"The next time we meet, you will join us. I promise." Mr. Finch walked past him with a knowing smile on his lips.
What does he mean by that? The Doctor thought, staring at him suspiciously, brow furrowed.
"Oh…" Mr. Finch stopped and looked at him with a smirk, "Might want to keep a eye on that sweet little Sophie of yours because there's a chance she might get hurt."
The Doctor stiffened at that as his eyes flashed angrily. "Don't you dare…" he gritted out, hands clenching into fists. If he hurt Sophie… just the thought of it gave him a bad taste in the mouth.
But Mr. Finch's smirk only widened, not saying anything as he finally disappeared.
Mickey sat in the driver's side and I sat on the passenger's side in my aunt's car with K9, who wasn't turned on but he had his head poking through the cap between the two front seats. We had been sitting there for a while and even though I was here with him, Mickey was still rather grumpy about the fact that he had to sit out here while everyone else was doing something more productive. He rolled the car window down on his side and folded his arms, across his chest.
"'Surveillance'," Mickey grumbled to me. "If you ask me, it's just another way of saying 'go sit at the back of the class with the safety scissors and glitter.'"
"Oh, it's not too bad," I said, patting him on the shoulder as I leaned back in my seat. "Who knows something could come up and you end up saving the day."
"Saving the day is the Doctor's thing," Mickey said. "Not mine."
"Yeah, well, the Doctor is really is good at saving the day, but that doesn't mean you can't," I told Mickey, smiling at him softly. "Even the most ordinary people can be heroes. You just have to something to believe in and help out as much as you can. But sometimes you just can't sit around and wait for it to happen, you have to make it happen. I think you really can save the world. You just have to believe in yourself. If you have that, you can do anything."
Mickey said something but I didn't hear him when I noticed Kenny rattling the main doors of the school. He looked terrified.
"Mickey!" I shook his shoulder and pointed.
He took notice to Kenny too and we shared a look before getting out of the car. We ran to the doors.
"Kenny!" I exclaimed. "What's going on?"
"They've taken them all!" he answered.
"What?"
"They've taken all the children."
My eyes widened. 'Shit…'
"Mickey…" I said, worry in my voice.
"I know!" Mickey took off running towards the car and I followed behind him. I tore open the door as soon as we were there and Mickey ripped the blanket off of K9, pressing random buttons. Buttons I had no idea what they did. "Come on, we need some help!"
But we got no response from K9.
"Come on, boy," I begged, trying buttons as well. But that didn't work either an Mickey smacked K9 on the head. "Hey!" I protested.
"Sorry! I'm trying to get him to work!"
"Still, you don't have to hit him." I rubbed K9 on the head.
Mickey rolled his eyes just as K9 started up and we brightened up.
"System restarting. All primary drives functioning."
"You're working!" Mickey exclaimed happily and I grinned at K9, patting him on the head. He leaned towards K9 with a serious look on his face, "Okay, no time to explain, we need to get inside the school. Do you have like, I dunno, a lock picking device?"
"We are in a car."
"…maybe a drill attachment?"
"We are in a car."
Mickey looked annoyed, "Fat lot good, you are."
I rolled my eyes, getting what K9 meant. "We're in a car," I said, a pointed look on my face. "We can use it to get into the school."
"Oh!" Then to Kenny, Mickey shouted, "Get back!"
Looking over at the boy, I saw he was squinting through the window. "No worries, kid! We're going to get you guys out of there!" I called to him before turning to Mickey, grinning. "Ready to crash the party?"
Mickey grinned back. "Oh yeah." He jumped into the driver's side and I quickly got into the passenger's side. After putting on our seatbelts on, Mickey started to car and he looked at me. "Ready?"
"Ready."
With that, he stepped on the gas and we were zooming towards the school. I held on tightly as we drove right through the front door, smashing the windows. We leaped out of the car and I grabbed Kenny's hand as Mickey cried to us,
"Come on!"
We ended up meeting the Doctor, Rose, and Sarah Jane at the bottom of the stars.
"Soph!" My aunt cried, tugging me into a hug.
I hugged her tightly, glad that she was okay.
"What's going on?" Mickey questioned as we broke the hug.
But before he could reply, three Krillitanes half fly, half grope their way along the corridor towards us.
All of us didn't waste any time on turning on our heels and running in the opposite direction. We ran into the canteen and tried to open the doors on the other side, but they were locked. The Doctor reached inside his coat for the sonic screwdriver, but it was too late as Mr. Finch bursted through the doors followed by several of the Krillitanes.
"Are they my teachers?" Kenny asked the Doctor.
"Yeah. Sorry."
Mr. Finch turned towards the Krillitane. "Leave the Doctor. As for the others…" He met my eyes and I felt the Doctor grab my hand, tugging me behind him, protectively. Taking a look at his face, he was glaring at Mr. Finch, almost daring him to do something. "You can feast."
And the Krillitanes swooped down on them and the Doctor let go of my hand so he could try and beat them off with a chair.
I tried to find somewhere to hide, fear gripping me. Seeing one of them heading my way, I tried to duck out of the way, but it was too late. It scratched my back, its claws slicing into my skin. I screamed in pain, falling face forward on the ground.
"Sophie!" My aunt screamed out of my name horrified.
"NO!" It was the Doctor this time and he sounded enraged.
The loss of blood made me feel faint and I could see my vision going blank. My eyes rolled in the back of my head and I knew no more.

When I finally woke up, I found that I was in an unfamiliar place, but I knew it was in the TARDIS. It just wasn't a place I had been in before. But it looked to be some kind of medical room. I tried to sit up, but I felt hands pushing me down.
"Don't sit up." The Doctor and his voice were stern and serious.
"What happened?" I said, pushing the Doctor's hands off of me and sitting up only to gasp at the scorching pain that came from my back, so intense that I whimpered.
"Lay back," The Doctor soothed, tucking my hair back behind my ears. His thumbs brushed my cheeks and the pain seemed to go away. "I'll explain everything."
I hesitantly nodded and did as he asked. And to true to his work, he explained everything. I was relieved that everything worked out and that the kids were safe.
"How long have I been out for?"
"Just for a day," The Doctor told me.
"My aunt…"
"Is on her way to take you back home."
Home? My stomach dropped, remembering I had said that I would be leaving after everything was said and done…and it was. But now I wasn't sure if I wanted to leave.
"Right," I said lamely, diverting my eyes.
"Soph…" I met the Doctor's eyes, my heart thumping in my chest and my selfish mind saying that he was going to beg me to stay, "I—"But he stopped and mumbled, "Nevermind."
"Doctor…" I bit my lip and he looked at me. "If you want to me stay…" I found myself blushing slightly, "All you have to do is ask and I'll stay…"
The Doctor stared at me. "I—I can't," he finally said, glancing away but not before I saw the pain in his eyes. "I can't ask you to stay if you don't want to."
I took a hold of his hands, making him look at me. "I wouldn't be telling you to ask if I didn't want you too," I said softly. "Please…" I whispered.
He stared deep into my eyes, contemplating if he should. When finally…
"Stay," The Doctor whispered back to me.
"Of course," I breathed out.
The Doctor grinned at me as he helped me to my feet.
Just as soon as he did that, the TARDIS shook hard. It was so hard in fact that I found myself falling into the Doctor's arms. However when I did, somehow my lips connected with the Doctor's.
My eyes widened and so did the Doctor. But we didn't pull away. His lips felt so soft against mine. My mind seemed to go blank at the feeling and I found myself kissing him deeper and he kissed me back, his arms looping themselves around my waist, surprising me.
But I couldn't bring myself to care as I pushed my body close to his. I had shivers all over as he pulled me closer. There was no distance between us at all. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him deeper, more passionately. I couldn't help but moan against his lips as the Doctor kissed me hard, propelling us backwards and into the wall of the medical bay. He moved his hands where they would be gripping my hips and pulled me even closer if that was possible. I couldn't help but moan again. Both of us were lost in this kiss. I couldn't even think straight. All I was thinking was how good it felt having the Doctor's lips pressed to mine.
Suddenly, I heard Sexy's voice in my head and it was smug,
'You're welcome.'
I knew she had something to do with this and I should have pulled away, but I found myself not being able to as I continued to kiss the Doctor, my fingers curling through the Doctor's hair. His hair was as a soft as it looked.
The Doctor growled against my lips, pressing me harder against the wall. By my hips, he lifted me up and my legs immediately wrapped around his waist. His gripped my thighs to keep me there and his tongue ran along my bottom lip, wanting entrance in my mouth. I gave it to him immediately and let out tongues curl together, fighting for dominance. My hands left his hair and he let out another growl against my lips as his hands on my thighs tightened. I shivered at the sound of it.
I moved my hands so they would be gripping the labels of his suit. Suddenly the Doctor broke the kiss and before I could say anything, he leaned down and began to press kisses up and down my neck. I moaned and my hands tightened around the labels. He continued to kiss my neck as my hands fell from his suit labels and I pulled out his tie as our tongues continued to fight for dominance (the Doctor was winning so far) after that I moved my hands down to the buttons of the outer jacket of his suit, and began to unbutton them. I paused to let out a moan of pleasure as he bites, it was as if he was marking me as his, and sucked on my neck. He went onto to do this while I continued to unbutton the suit jacket. Finally I got all the buttons unbuttoned and I pushed the jacket off of him before going to untie his tie. I easily got it off and threw it on the ground, next to the jacket.
The Doctor removed his lips from my neck, returning to my lips. His tongue slipped into my mouth, finding my tongue once more, and curled them together. Now my hands were at the buttons of his shirt. I felt completely aroused right now. I knew the Doctor was too because I could feel him pressing against my core. I moaned at this. I barely noticed that someone was trying to open the medical bay door which Sexy had locked to keep everyone out but mostly Rose who was the one who was trying to open the door. I had only got just two buttons undone when I heard this loud knock that had us both jerking out of the kiss in embarrassed disappoint surprise – panting, blushing, and aroused.
"Doctor! Sophie! Sarah's here!" Came Rose's voice.
Both of us didn't reply.
"Doctor?"
He kept his eyes on mine as he called back to Rose, "We'll be out in a minute."
"Well, alright." Rose sounded confused but I heard her footsteps as she walked away.
It wasn't long until we couldn't hear the sounds of her footsteps anymore. As soon as they were gone, the Doctor let go of me, settling me down on my feet before he stepped back from me, running a hand down his face wearily.
"Sophie, that shouldn't have happened," he told me.
I nodded stiffly, "Yeah. Your right, we should…"
"Yeah…" The Doctor headed out the door first, not looking at me. I stared after him for a moment before sighing as I followed him, ignoring the sinking feeling in my heart.
