She woke up in a familiar room with a sore body. Her eyes caught a glimpse of the sleeping lad beside her, his hand hugging her frame tightly. 'Her Kuon', she smiled at that thought. She was busy staring at his face when suddenly her phone rang. With caution, she gently removed his hand away from her waist. The caller was none other than the president himself.
"Mogami-san?"
"Yes?"
"Did you have any difficulties on sending Tsuruga-kun last night?"
'Last Night,' she blushed at those words.
"Mogami-san? Are you still there?" The other line inquired suspiciously.
"Y-yes," she answered in a low voice, intending for the guy at the bed to not be disturbed by the noise.
"Well, by the way you have an appointment at noon. See yah." With that, the caller hanged up.
She took a deep sigh, contradicting if she would go back under the deep red sheets of the bed or not. Her phone rang again for the second time and she immediately answered it.
"Moko-san?"
"K-kyoko?" It was obvious that her voice was shaking and it made Kyoko worry.
"What happened?" A few seconds passed and only the breathing sound could be heard from the other line.
"Can I ask for your time?" Shocked was an understatement for her reaction. It was really rare for Kanae to ask for assistance.
"Yes. So what is it all about?"
"I am here at Daruma-ya."
"What!" She whisperingly yelled.
"I asked them if you were here but they said that you didn't sleep here last night-"
She did not wait for her to finish her sentence, "I'm coming! Please wait for me!" Upon hearing that, the call ended.
Kyoko tried to stand up but suddenly became concious of her figure. Who wouldn't be? She had no clothing on to cover her body. She then picked up all the discarded clothes she wore last night and immediately put it on quietly. Before exiting his bedroom door, she smiled lovingly at his serene face and noted that he was still far from being awaken. Truly, walking was a hard task to do for she was bothered by the slight pain on her body and she secretly wished that Kanae would never notice that.
When she arrived at the said meeting place, Kanae's problematic face entranced her. "What happened?" She knew that there really was something wrong going on.
"It' s hard to choose." Her short answer made Kyoko even more puzzled especially when Kanae almost literally dragged her somewhere she did not know of. She carefully walked looking normal but there were times when she unconciously flinched for a second of every wrong movement.
The girl was dumbfounded on what happened next: at one second they were on Darumaya then the next was she found herself inside a department store. "Honesty Moko-san, what's happening?" She asked while admiring the different kinds of clothing that the boutique possessed.
"Pick." In an instant, Kanae was trying different variations of above the knee dresses. She then realized what was happening. It was really peculiar for a Kanae Kotonami to ask opinion regarding this matter. Because except for a fact that every garments could look great when she wear it, Kanae Kotonami had also the best taste when it came to fashion and dressing up.
"Moko-san, you're beautiful." Her eyes was sparkling with admiration for her best friend.
"I know." They both giggled on her statement.
"So why are you panicking?" Kyoko inquired which made her friend felt uneasy. She stared at her face, "Don't tell me-" Understanding what was Kyoko supposed to say, she covered it up. "I-I just have a meeting that's all."
"Oh, I see." She hummed which looked like her response was unbelievable. "Kyoko!"
Up on noticing the forming tint on Kanae's cheeks she remarked, "Aww, the great Kanae Kotonami is going on a date!"
"I am not! Business, only business!" The last word she uttered was a little bit stressed and it caught Kyoko's attention but she shrugged it off. Kanae will eventually open that topic herself when she felt like it. "Anyway, what happened to you last night?" Kyoko's cheeks turned to deep crimson.
"N-nothing."
"Mou. Are you hiding something from me?" Her friend suspiciously asked but she countered it with, "I think that's my line Moko-san!"
As if scanning her surroundings, her gaze landed at the wall clock of the boutique. "Moko-san, I need to go." She said apologetically.
"For a date? With whom?"
"The president said that I need to go there by noon and it's almost noon."
"I see. Nice escape." A smirk could be seen on Kanae's lips.
"I'm stating the truth Moko-san!" She was panicking by now because her friend thought that she was lying. Her both hands gestured an I'm-telling-the-truth sign. In return, she just chuckled on amazement, "I'm just kidding Kyoko. Go on, see you later. "
They waved each other's dominant hand, "See you later."
"Please take a seat."
"Thank you." She sat gracefully as a smile plastered on her face.
"Err, about what I was saying earlier." Lory paused for a moment, "Yes?"
"You have upcoming projects for this month, " he clapped his hands while she bowed her head. "Thank you very much!"
"And one more thing Mogami-kun," he looked intently to her eyes as if searching something. It took a couple of minutes until he found that thing and verified it. He then let out a relieved sigh which made Kyoko wondered why.
"Are you okay Mr. President?" The worried look on her face made the man reassured of his guess.
"Please take care of Tsuruga-kun." She heard his footsteps as he slowly disappeared from the room. His words left a big question mark to her head. "Whaaat?!"
An hour later, she was making her way through the busy corridors of LME. The staff greeted her and she returned their gesture of course. She then remembered a certain lad which made her cheeks flushed.
"Mogami-san?" Her conciousness was brought back to reality when she heard his voice. It felt like a melody that her brain could never forget especially now that she finally heard the truth regarding his real identity.
"Y-yes Tsuruga-san, Yashiro-san." She bowed politely at them like what she always do but her mood was really noticeably for them to not noticed.
"You are really in a good mood right now Kyoko-chan. Did something good happened?" The four-eyed manager inquired as he smiled to the girl while eyeing the lad beside him, as if trying to ask if he knew something.
While Ren pretended to not see the suspicious gaze of his manager, Kyoko just nodded her head and answered in a graceful tone, "Yes."
A pregnant silence was followed but it was still comfortable for the two of them because they still didn't know how to face each other given the fact that a revelation was shared between them last night.
"Are you going home Kyoko-chan?" Yashiro had a plan, he wanted to make the two of them be closer than before. It seemed that something good happened between them last night and he hoped that it might be a good start for the two to make their moves and have some progress on their snail version of step-by-step entering to a serious relationship phase. "You can ride with us. Tsuruga-kun will take you home," he didn't give her space to decline. The young lady only nodded her head and mouthed a small 'thank you' for both of them.
"Take care of her Tsuruga-kun." Yashiro bade those words before he exited Ren's car as if there was a hidden meaning behind it. The guy just shook his head and he continued to drive.
He was waiting for a perfect moment to start a conversation and he chose to start it with, "Kyoko-chan."
The girl who was sitted at the passenger's seat of his car got startled upon hearing his voice. "Y-yes?" He chuckled at her reaction. Really, she had many unexpected ways to make him smile. It took a couple of minutes for Kyoko to realize what had Tsuruga Ren reffered to her as and she reciprocated it.
"Corn." It sounded funny on her tongue but sweet at the same time. "So what happened yesterday was not just a dream, Tsuruga-san."
He raised an eyebrow and pointed, "It's Kuon for you Kyoko-chan." She blushed at his words.
"Eh! Are you really serious Tsuruga-san?" She wondered if it was really true because it was definitely weird like calling him like that in public. They might possibly be puzzled or shocked.
Getting what Kyoko wanted to explain, he answered, "Let me repeat myself Kyoko-chan. I said that it's Kuon for you and I mean it. But if you're not familiar about it well you can call me that way when we're alone."
'When we're alone,' this phrase echoed inside her head as fragments of memories about last night entered her mind. She wanted to say something about it but it felt like her lips betrayed her for no sound came from it.
"Kyoko-chan?"
"K-kuon," his eyes lit up. "Can you say it again?"
"What is it?" She innocently asked not fully knowing that she made him smiled again.
"My name, say it again." It was more like a request.
"Kuon." Her hand slowly raised to touch his face and she didn't even notice that Ren had stopped the car a moment ago even before he started their talk. "You finally grew your wings," he fully understood the meaning behind it. "Yes, and so are you."
"Are you still my Corn?" His orbs came in contact with hers. She was silently hoping that he will say say but none of that came. Instead, his hand engulfed hers that was still on his cheek. They shared a long laugh after that.
"Uhm, about last night." She wanted to confirm their current status because she was really unsure of the whirlwind revelations that happened.
"Yes. Thank you for sending me home last night," he took a peak at her and she looked like she was waiting for him to continue but he didn't get it.
"And?" And? What was it? He didn't even have a single clue about it. All he could remember was he drank a lot last nigh and was closed to passing out and the last thing he saw before he closed his eyes was Kyoko's worried look as she ushered him to his bed.
"That's it?" She whispered softly but it didn't fail to reach his ears.
"Did you say something Kyoko-chan?"
"N-no. Nothing at all." Her eyes started to water again but not because of joy. This time, it was for the reason that hew didn't even want to mention it, let alone clarify things to her. And by the looks of it, maybe he never meant any single word he said last night. She lifted her head to look at the road. No, she shouldn't cry, not in front of him.
"It's getting late, can you please send me home K-Kuon?" The man was surprised with Kyoko's cheerful expression turned a little bit cold but didn't bother to point it out for he thought the she was still not used to it.
The drive was quiet until they reached Daruma-ya. He wanted to open the car's door for her but she just smiled at him and said that she can manage. She got out from the vehicle and waved at him goodbye.
He took a last glance at Kyoko using the side mirror only to see the blank emotion on her face. Her smile earlier lingered on his mind. A smile that didn't reach her eyes. He wondered why. Did he said something stupid again? Ren shook his head to erase these thoughts.
Meanwhile in Kyoko's room, crystals in liquird form slowly descended from her eyelids as she closed her organ of vision and opened it again.
Last night was nothing. Even Kuon didn't want to talk about it. Maybe he thought of it as a mistake and pretended to not remember anything from that point.
She clearly knew it. She clearly knew it even from the beggining. She clearly knew that Tsuruga would never see them together in a romantic way, be it on Tsuruga Ren or her Corn's point of view. She was only the plain Kyoko and never would be a princess in her fairy prince's eyes.
It hurts. It really hurts. She finally found the courage to love again but she realized that if this was a battle then she immediately lost the spot to win even before it lips thinned as she cried, burying her face in her palms.
For him she was just his 'junior'; no more, no less. She must stop her fantasies, she must know where she stood. Maybe she should start to bury her feelings like her dissolved tears and pretend that these feelings never existed at all. From this day, she will try to forget everything: what happened last night and her love for him.
"Fuwa Sho," Ren stated as he saw the blonde figure almost running after the kid who was now talking to Kanae. The kid was familiar, he looked like he had seen him somewhere before but he couldn't pinpoint out when was it. Suddenly, he felt a sudden happiness on his chest and it was really peculiar because he didn't even know the reason why.
The kid turned his vision to the people sitted on their table including Ren who noticed that Kyoko slightly tilted her head and wore her hood up to her forehead and she didn't get even a bit of curiosity to the kid who just arrived.
"Kiddo, don't run like that. Geez, you even disturbed them," Sho lectured the dark haired little man then he turned to them, "Sorry for causing trouble." He bowed his head in an apologetic manner while patting the kid's head. "Kiddo, apologize to them." Fuwa was acting out of character because of the gentleness of his voice. According to Ren's observation he looked more like a father. Seriously, that Fuwa!
"I'm really sorry Misters and Misses. Please forgive me for my impoliteness," the kid politely bowed his head also which made him looked cute. He was like acting formal that due to this, he was amazed whoever his mother is, she really raised this kid well.
"It's okay young man," the kid also caught Yashiro's attention.
"It's nice to meet you mister," his manager chuckled at the boy's attitude. "It's nice to meet you too, young man. What's your name?" He asked.
"I'm Moru. Are you Aunt Kanae's husband?" His eyes widened because of amusement. This kid is really something. He then eyed Yashiro and Kanae who both denied it at the same time and because of this, they both looked away from each other. While watching the three of them converse, he peaked at Kyoko who was still in her current position earlier and Fuwa Sho who just stared at them. His eyes then locked at the said kid who smiled at him greeting, "It's nice to meet you again, Hizuri-san."
With that, he immediately recognized the kid. The mysterious kid from that time. Yeah, he finally remembered. "Yes, you are Moru right?" Last time, he didn't got to ask his given name so he assumed based on what he told earlier that it is 'Moru'.
"Yes, how are you Hizuri-san?" Moru's eyes widened upon seeing Kyoko and Sho saw this. He needed to do something.
"Mo-" the kid was cut off by his uncle. "We need to go. Fancy meeting you here. Bye," Sho held Moru's hand as they stormed towards the exit. Ren was so sure that the boy was about to call Kyoko if that Sho Fuwa never interfered. The way Fuwa looked on Kyoko didn't also escape from his peripheral vision and this made the puzzle in his head scrambled even more.
'Hizuri? Where did Moru met Kuon?' She thought to herself.
'Why is Moru together with that Fuwa? Is he his son? Before that, who is Moru? Does Moru also know Kyoko?' Ren Tsuruga was anxious because of this.
"Tsuruga-kun, do you know Moru? Why did he call you Hizuri?" Yashiro blurted out the unspoken question that was lingering on Kyoko's head.
"Not really, but this is the second time we've met." Kyoko blinked in confusion, Moru never mentioned anything about that.
" He's an adorable kid, his mother raised him well." Hearing this from the father of her kid, Kyoko couldn't help but smile as Kanae unconciously smirked at her. "Are you related to Moru Kotonami-san?"
"Sort of. His mother is a best friend of mine Yashiro-san." Kanae grinned widely as Kyoko bit her lips.
"Best friend? So Kyoko-chan knew him as well," the manager concluded, not having a clue that he was close to the truth. Kyoko took a sip of her drink like she never heard a thing. She needed to act normal and it was hard.
"How about his father?" She almost choked as this sentence reached her ears. Not because she was trying to evade this question but because the one who dropped the inquiry was Moru's biological father himself without him knowing that fact.
She couldn't choose between answering him or staying silent. She was about to answer him unconciously not fully knowing that the question was not really intended for her to answer. "Ah, that jerk?" Her bestfriend commented as if critizising a book.
"You mean Fuwa Sho?" Kanae was preventing herself to laugh hysterically, Kyoko was not following where the conversation was going and Yashiro was shaking his head as he watched the unusual speech of his charge.
Kotonami Kanae pursed her lips, "Maybe."
Moving on to Tsuruga Ren's side, he was not certain if it was only him or Kyoko's bestfriend was staring at him intently, like she was boring holes on his frame.
"You mean Sho Fuwa is the father of Moru?" The four-eyed man innocently asked as Kanae's face showed some irritation as if telling him, 'Are you really stupid?'
Ren was about to counter Yashiro's idea but was surprised when Kyoko suddenly raised her voice but only for them to hear. "No. Moru's father is..." she was about to continue when she realized what she did was impulsive and out of idiocy.
"Who?" Yashiro stared at her in suspicion and confusion.
"It's me," this statement made Kyoko's lips parted as she gloat at him dumbfounded.
Note: Italicized parts are the flashback
I'm really sorry for the very late update and my rusty grammar. I need to learn my own language perfectly which is Filipino so I rarely encounter English these past few months.
Anyways, what do you think about this chapter? It's a little bit recap about the past. Things are a little bit blurry as of now but truth will slowly unfold from time to time.
By the way, I changed Moru's age so he's turning six years old.
As for the incoming chapter(s), I need names for their incoming movie. Can you give me some? Thank you~
Thank you for supporting this story even if the time of updates are random and slow and thank you for being patient.
I can't reply to all previous reviews because I'm just using my phone and it's a little bit difficult. I'll try to post my replies next time. Sorry.
