It was nighttime now and we didn't get anywhere with all of the neighbors so now we were trying the boy, Tommy's house. That kid definitely seemed to know what was going on. We went up to the front door and the Doctor rang the doorbell.

'Hopefully we have better luck with Tommy.' I thought to the Doctor, sharing a secret look with him. One that Rose didn't notice. I felt him nod in my mind.

'We'll find out what's going on, Soph. We always do.' He told me, somehow managing to give my hand a squeeze without Rose seeing.

I nodded, quickly lifting his hand up to press a kiss to the back of it. From the corner of my eye, I saw my mate close his eyes briefly at my touch, obviously savoring it. I smiled to myself as I let go of his hand just as the door flew open, revealing the man who had called for Tommy. His eyes narrowed at us suspiciously and we plastered fake smiles on our faces then we all chorused at the time in sickly sweet voices,

"Hiiiiiii."

I could tell though that the man didn't buy it one bit and looking behind the man, I took notice to Tommy who was sneaking up. Seeing me looking at him, he froze and I put a finger to my lips as I winked at him, showing that I wasn't going to tell. I did all of this without getting the attention of the man who was clearly his father.

"Who are you three, then?" The man asked, still looking at us suspiciously.

"Let's see then, judging by the look of you – family man, nice house, decent wage, fought in the war – therefore I represent Queen and Country." The Doctor held up the psychic paper with a flourish, "Just doing a little check of Her Majesty's forthcoming subjects for the great day. Don't mind if I come in?" He didn't wait for an answer, "Nah, didn't think you didn't, thank you!" He barged past the man before he could protest.

Sharing amused looks, Rose and I followed in suits, both of us flashing the man a sweet smile. We all went into the living room. The Doctor looked around, nodding in approval.

"Not bad, very nice! Very well kept!" He turned on his heel to face the woman who was already in the living room, sitting on one of the seats in the room.

"Hello," I greeted her first, giving her a soft inviting smile. "It's nice to meet you, Mrs…?"

"Connolly," she answered timidly. She looked really sweet and just from look in her eyes, she could tell she was uncomfortable at being spoken to and afraid of her husband from the way she kept on looking at him. I frowned.

"Now then Rita, I can handle this," The man or Mr. Connolly spoke in a demeaning tone and my frown deepened.

'I don't like him.' I thought to Theta, pursing my lips as I glanced over at my mate, who gave me a brief nod of agreement.

"This gentleman's a proper representative!" Mr. Connolly continued as the Doctor threw Rita a wink but I didn't think she noticed. I hated how terrified she looked. "Don't mind the wife," Mr. Connolly added almost in a sneer, "She rattles on a bit."

"Well, maybe she should rattle on a bit more," The Doctor snapped. Tommy and Mr. Connolly both looked shocked. 'You tell him, love.' I told my Theta proudly, getting a brief quick smile from my mate before he continued, "I'm not convinced you're doing your patriotic duty." He glanced briefly around at the flags around the room, waiting to be put up. Seeing what he was going for, I spoke up.

"I really like these flags," I said casually. "But there's one problem … why aren't they hanging up?"

Mr. Connolly paused nervously for a moment before he said, turning to his wife, "There we are, Rita, I told you – get them up! Queen and Country!"

I looked him disgusted as a skeptical look crossed the Doctor and he began moving over to Mr. Connolly."

"I'm sorry—"Rita started to apologize but was cut off by her husband,

"Get it done! Do it now!" he snapped at her and I opened my mouth to say something, taking a step forward.

'I got this, Soph.' my mate's voice stopped me from saying anything. 'Just stay back.' I gave him a mental protesting look, 'I mean it, stay where you are.'

I mentally huffed at him, 'You can be kind of annoying when you're protective, you know that?' Then I smirked, 'Then again, it's kind of sexy…makes me want to take you right here on this couch.' I gave him a mental picture of me pushing him against the couch, ripping his clothes off, and taking his cock in my mouth as another part of my payback. With just one look of his face, I knew he was trying so hard not to let out a growl as his eyes darkened with lust.

'Sophie,' he warned through gritted teeth.

My smirk widened and I let up on the mental picture. Instantly, I could hear the sigh of relief coming from my mate, still mental of course. Cutting in before Mr. Connolly could get another word in to his wife, the Doctor said rather loudly,

"Hold on a minute." Noise creased immediately and my mate continued, "You've got two hands, Mr. Connolly. Two big hands! Why is that your wife's job?" He looked at the large gentleman expectantly.

"It's housework, init?" Mr. Connolly answered, a confused look on his face, not getting what Theta meant.

"And that's a woman's job?" My mate countered and Mr. Connolly's answer was straight and to the point.

"Course it is!"

"Oh really? What about the Queen then?" I asked, crossing my arms over my chest as I looked at Mr. Connolly with an unrelenting gaze. I only got a blink in response and I rolled my eyes, "The Queen? What gender is she?" I said this slowly as if I was speaking to a small child and this man sure was acting like one.

Mr. Connolly had the decency to look nervous. I could be very scary when I wanted to be. Especially if someone was being an ass like this man clearly was.

"I would answer her," The Doctor said to Mr. Connolly pointedly, his lips twitched as if he was fighting back a smile. Tommy seemed to have the same problem. Though my mate was hiding back his amusement to everyone else, he wasn't hiding it from me. I could practically feel the amusement rolling off of him.

'Oh you are good.' He thought to me, grinning.

'Oh Theta, you already know how good I am.' I thought back teasingly. I didn't hear a response as Mr. Connolly spoke up, still looking nervous and growing increasingly defensive.

"She's female."

"Yeah, she's female. So what?" I stepped towards him, still keeping my gaze on him. "You expect her to do the house work since its woman's work and she is a female?"

Now, Tommy couldn't help but let a small amused smile appear on his lips as he watched his father and me. Even Rita looked amused by her husband's humiliation.

"No! Not at all!" he exclaimed.

I stared at him hard for a moment before smiling sweetly. "Good!" I grabbed the flag's and handed them to Mr. Connolly. "Hang these up then will you?"

"Yes ma'am!" He went to set up the flags, feigning enthusiasm. Of course I wasn't convinced and neither was the Doctor, Rita, Tommy, and Rose. "You'll be proud of us, sir!" He said loudly to the Doctor. "We'll have Union Jacks left, right and centre!"

Rose stood up, hands on her hips as my mate wandered around the room and I sat down on the couch, near the arm of the couch, causing my leather pants to tighten around my legs especially my thighs. The Doctor noticed this of course as he walked by me. I could see his jaw and hands clench tightly together. I couldn't help but smirk when he met my gaze. Seeing my smirking face, my mate pretended that he hadn't been looking and continued moving about the house as Rose spoke to Mr. Connolly.

"'Scuse me, Mr. Connolly, hang on a minute!" she said. "Union Jacks?"

He paused in his work to look at her, confused, "Yes, that's right, isn't it?"

"That's a Union Flag," Rose pointed out to him. "It's only a Union Jack when it's flown at sea."

'Good one Rose!' I cheered, grinning madly but trying to hide it from underneath my hand.

Tommy, on the other hand, didn't hide it as his father tried to humble himself.

"Oh…oh I'm sorry, I do apologize!"

Rose smiled widely at him. "Well, don't get it wrong again, there's a good man. Now get to it." She added some force in her tone to show that she was serious.

Mr. Connolly hastily got back to work and Rose gave the Doctor a coy smile as he looked at her slightly bewildered at what she said. My mate sat down beside me with Rose on the other side of him, both of them getting comfortable on the couch, grinning.

"Right then! Nice and comfy, at Her Majesty's leisure," The Doctor said brightly. Since I was sitting where I was at, he was able to slip a snug arm around my waist, his fingertips brushing the middle of my back first then my hip causing me to shiver. I almost moaned out loud and I mentally glared at him. But he ignored it as he said quietly to Rose, "Union Jack?"

"Mum went out with a sailor," she answered simply.

"Oohohohoo! I bet she did!" Then the Doctor spoke louder, speaking to the room again, "Anyway, I'm the Doctor, this is Sophie…"

I waved.

"And this is Rose, and you are?" My mate looked directed at Tommy, who looked surprised to be noticed.

"Tommy."

The Doctor and Rose moved over, making a space for Tommy to sit in between me and the Doctor. Because of this, my mate had to move his arm away. Instantly I missed his touch.

'You touched me on purpose, didn't you?'

I got a cheeky grin in response and I grumbled, 'Oh, you're going to pay for that later…'

'Looking forward to it then, sweetheart.'

'Oh this is one payback that you won't enjoy.' Before he could question me, I put on my best flirty smile towards Tommy, who blushed at the sight of it, and patted the empty spot in between me and the Doctor. "Here, Tommy, why don't you sit down … next to me?" I made sure to let my voice drop in an almost husky tone causing the boy's blush to deepen. The Doctor mentally glared at me as Tommy sat down. I turned to look at Mrs. Connolly softly smiling at her. "Why don't you sit down too? Your husband has the flags, don't you Mr. Connolly?" I asked brightly.

"Yes, yes, of course," he grumbled.

"Good, keep up the good work!" I nodded towards Mrs. Connolly to sit down and she did but she wasn't relaxed in her seat. Something I frowned at. I ignored it as I turned back to Tommy, putting my flirty smile back on, "So…Tommy…have a girlfriend?"

"No." He shook his head.

"Really?" I put as much surprise as I could. "A handsome boy like you?" I purred, touching his knee. Tommy's blush deepened.

This got a growl out of the Doctor, one he let out loud for everyone to hear and they turned to look at him. He noticed this right away and cleared his throat loudly as I moved my hand from Tommy's knee.

"Have a look at this!" the Doctor changed the subject rather loudly, turning his head towards the TV. "I love Telly, don't you?"

"Yeah, I think it's brilliant!" Tommy said brightly.

"Good man!" The Doctor grinned at him, it wasn't a fake one either. It was silence after that with us watching the program that was playing. Something about fossils. I really wasn't paying attention. I hummed under my breath to keep myself busy as I twisted one of the curls in my hair, watching it bounce back into place once I let go of it. Luckily, the silence didn't last but just a few moments.

The Doctor looked over at Mr. Connolly with a big fake bright smile. "Keep working Mr. C!" He turned to Mrs. Connolly, dropping the cheerful act, as he regarded her seriously, "Now, why don't you tell me what's wrong?"

"Did you say you were a doctor?" she asked somewhat reluctantly.

"Yes I am.'

"He's one of the best," I added softly and she looked over at me. "Whatever's wrong, he can help. You just have to trust him."

She stared at me for a moment before looking towards the Doctor, taking a deep breath. "Can you help her? Oh please, can you help her, Doctor?" she pleaded.

Mr. Connolly heard this and stopped what he was doing, turning towards us. "Now then Rita, I don't think the gentleman needs to know…" he warned.

The Doctor cut him off, a hard look in his eyes, "No, the gentleman does!"

Rita started to cry and Rose leaned forward to address her while I moved over to her immediately, wrapping my arms around her and using one of my hands to comfort her. Her cries were quiet and soft at the moment but even then, I could tell she needed a hug.

"Tell us what's wrong, and we can help," Rose told her gently.

Rita's cries grew louder and I rocked her back and forth, whispering words of comfort in her ear, "It's okay. Everything's going to fine." I shared a concerned look with my mate, who was watching us with a concerned frown on his face.

"Hold on a minute!" Mr. Connolly cried angrily. "Queen of Country is one thing, but this is my house!" He looked down at the flags in his hands and chucked them to the floor.

The Doctor wasn't looking at him as he propped his head on his forehead, looking calm. But I knew that he wasn't. He was restraining himself, trying not to go all oncoming storm on Mr. Connolly.

'Calm down, Theta.' I tried to sooth my mate while sending out a large amount of calm towards him. His body seemed to relax and his hands which I just noticed had been clenched into fists relaxed as well and unclenched. Unfortunately he didn't stay calm for long as Mr. Connolly continued ranting.

"What the hell – what the hell am I doing?" He glared at the Doctor heatedly, "Now, you listen here Doctor! You may have fancy qualifications, but what goes under my roof is my business!"

"All the people are being bundled into—"The Doctor started to say scathingly but Mr. Connolly interrupted, shouting at the top of his lung making Rita flinch and I rubbed her shoulder comfortingly,

"I AM TALKING!"

My mate stood and rose his voice even louder than Mr. Connolly as he loomed over him, standing to his full height. "AND I'M NOT LISTENING!" he shouted. "Now you, Mr. Connolly, staring into a deep PIT of trouble if you don't let me help!"

Mr. Connolly looked visibly shaken while Rita and Tommy looked completely frightened. Concerned more about those two more than Mr. Connolly, I stood up and Rose took over for me to keep Rita reassured that everything was fine. I went over to my mate, placing my hand on his forearm, rubbing it gently, not caring if Rose was watching at the moment. I was more concerned about my mate. My touch calmed him and he relaxed his body as he met my eyes.

"Theta," I said quietly. "You're scaring them." I nodded towards Rita and Tommy and he glanced over at them only to wince at the frightened looks in their eyes. He let out a breath that sounded more like a sigh as he wrapped a secure arm around my waist, pulling me towards him. He obviously wasn't caring about Rose seeing us either. And she was if the glare I could feel her giving me and the Doctor was any hint. I nuzzled his shoulder as I pushed myself closer to his side. My mate turned back to Mr. Connolly.

"Tell me what's going on," he demanded in a hard voice, but he was much calmer now.

Mr. Connolly tried to think of something to say. However, he was interrupted by the sound of a banging. Mr. Connolly's eyes immediately went up and the Doctor followed his gaze. Looking over at Tommy, he was looking around nervously while Rita sighed and shook her head.

"She won't stop," Mr. Connolly finally said with fear in his tone. The banging continued even louder this time, "She never stops."

Tommy spoke up to explain in a slightly shaky voice and the Doctor turned to regard him, bringing me along with him since his arm was still around my waist in a firm grip. As he spoke, Rita looked upset and embarrassed and Mr. Connolly guiltily tried to regain some composure.

"We started hearing stories," Tommy said softly. "All round the place. People who've … changed. Families keeping it a secret 'cause they were scared. The police started finding out. We don't know how, no one does. They just … turn up, come to the door, and take 'em. Anytime day or night."

"Show me," The Doctor told Tommy seriously.

And show us he did. I was in disbelief at what I was staring at. His Gran had no face at all. It looked as if her face had been completely wiped away. I stood with Rose near the Doctor. Tommy and Rita were close together behind my mate while Mr. Connolly was completely out of the room. He was acting very suspiciously and it rubbed me the wrong way. The Doctor stood in front of Tommy's Gran examining what should have been her face.

"Her face is completely gone," he stated with an air of fascination. He pulled out the sonic and scanned her face with it as Rose and I shared uneasy looks, "Scarcely an electrical impulse left. Almost completely neutral shutdown, she's ticking over, like her brain has been … wiped clean." He put the sonic away back in his pocket, but still examined her face.

"Who could have done this to her?" I asked quietly.

"I don't know," my mate replied, not glancing away from her face.

"Where are we going to do, Doctor?" Tommy asked hopelessly. "We can't even feed her!"

All of a sudden, the sound of someone crashing through the front door interrupted us.

"We've got company…" Rose said, stating the obvious.

"It's them, they've come for her!" Rita sobbed.

I think I was the only one who took notice to the fact that Mr. Connolly was the only pleased by this development. I just knew that he had something to do with this, but I didn't have time to accuse him of this because the Doctor quickly spoke up to Tommy.

"What was she doing before this happened? Where was she?" he asked hurriedly.

Rita hesitated and we could hear the police clambering up the stairs.

"Tell me, quickly, think!"

"I can't think! She doesn't leave the house! She was just—"

Watching TV I thought to myself, finishing his sentence. I frowned, my mind going to Mr. Magpie. Wonder if he was connected to this… I didn't have time to think more about it as a big, burly man and some supporting officers appearing at the bedroom door. The Doctor tried to buy us time.

"Hold in a minute!" he exclaimed. "There are important, complicated reasons why should listen to me. One, -"

"Doctor!" I cried horrified as the big, burly man punched my mate in the face, knocking him unconscious. I growled at the policeman, eyes flashing protectively, "How dare you…?!" before I could really bite into them the men threw a blanket over Gran's head and ushered to the stairs as Rose fell beside the Doctor and tried to wake him up by slapping his cheek. I decided to help. I went a different route though.

'Theta, wake up.' I muttered to him mentally.

"Doctor!" Rose cried.

"Mum!" Came Rita's voice.

I blocked their voices out, focused on waking up my mate, 'Theta, if you don't wake up, I'm not going sex with you for a month.'

This worked as the Doctor sat up in a sitting position as if nothing happened and startling Rose.

'Knew that would work.' I thought to my mate cheekily, earning a mental eye roll.

"Ah, hell of a right hook!" The Doctor said out loud. "Have to watch out for that!" He jumped to his feet and ran out of the room.

Rose and I quickly followed and we ran down the stairs as fast as we could with the shoes that we had on.

"Rose, Soph, come on!" The Doctor shouted from downstairs.

We managed to get downstairs but Rose ran outside while I paused at the entrance of the living room as my eye caught something. Red, buzzing tendrils of electricity coming out of the television.

"Soph, come on, we're gonna lose them again!" my mate called again, this time more urgently.

I wanted to run to the Doctor but I needed to see what was going on with the TV. If Magpie had something to do with this, the TV must have been bought from him. I had to see if I was right so I stepped closer to the living room as the tendrils were being absorbed back into the TV. Once I was in the living room, I ran to the TV and began turning it around to see the electricity still buzzing along the aerial. As I expected, there was a large label with the words, 'Magpie Electricals.'

"Knew it," I mumbled as I heard Tommy's voice coming from behind me.

"How did they find her? Who told them?"

'Why don't you ask your father?' I thought to myself, glaring internally.

"You!" Mr. Connolly shouted at me finally noticing me there. "Get the hell out of my house!"

"Okay, okay," I muttered and I rolled my eyes. I stood up to my feet and turned on my heel towards Mr. Connolly, Rita, and Tommy. Head held high, I stopped in front of them, "Nice to meet you Tommy, Mrs. Connolly." I told them softly then I turned to Mr. Connolly, "Oh and FYI, you might want to check on those flags." I gestured to the Union Flags, "Because only an idiot hangs a Union Flag upside down." I smiled at him sarcastically as I shook out of my hair and walked out of the house and into the dark.

Now it was time to do some investigating of my own…

The Idiot's Lantern, Part 3...

So as you can Sophie's face is going to be the one taken instead of Rose...and let's just say the Doctor will be pissed... No one messes with his mate and gets away with it. So since I'm telling you now that her face will be taken, I'm not going to do the scene where she gets her face taken because I don't really want to write it. More looking forward to writing the Doctor's reaction to it so we will have a Doctor third person POV ;)

I know this is way off topic but if you could chose a Disney Princess who reminds you of Sophie, who would it be? For me, I pick Belle as they both have a deep love for books and adventure. But who do you think?

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the second part of this episode! Please leave reviews and tell me what you think! :D
