Doomsday:

Part 1...

I was frozen with fear, my body not moving an inch as the Daleks advanced upon us, screaming 'exterminate' over and over again. I heard enough stories about the Daleks from my aunt…and from the Doctor…and they were not to be messed with. I couldn't do anything that would bring to myself or my baby. I wasn't going to lose my baby. Not by the Daleks.

Rose stepped forward confidently, moving herself in the front of me and Mickey. "Daleks!" She shouted. They fell silent, taken aback. "You're called Daleks." The Daleks didn't respond, seemingly to simply observe her as she walked towards them. "I know your name." She took off her lab coat, throwing it to the ground. "Think about it – how can I know that? A Human…who knows about Daleks. And the Time War. If you wanna know why, then keep us alive. That's all I'm asking. Me and my friends."

I finally managed to speak. "Yeah, I know about you guys too. The Time War too." I tried to put as much confidence in my voice as I could. Their eyepieces swiveled around to look at me and they seemed to look right through me. I gulped, wondering if maybe they knew about the baby. It was unlikely but it worried me completely.

"Yeah, Daleks." Mickey said. "Time War. Me too." Their eyepieces swiveled around again to look at him, this time.

"Yeah. And me."

One of the Daleks looked back at Rose. "You will be necessary." Turning to another of them, it said, "Report – what is the status of the Genesis Ark?"

Genesis Ark? My eyebrows furrowed. What was that?

"Status – hibernation."

"Commence awakening."

"The Genesis Ark must be protected above all else."

The Dalek turned towards the Genesis Ark, which emerged from the sphere, and it clamped its suction arm to the side of the Ark.

Mickey kept his gun on the Daleks as he looked over at Rose. "The Daleks – you said they were all dead."

"Nevermind that – what the hell's a Genesis Ark?" Rose questioned, asking the same question I had been wondering myself.

"I have no idea." I said, speaking up and they looked at me. "But if the Daleks are using it, it isn't anything good."

One of the Daleks turned towards our group again. This one must be the leader since it was doing most of the talking.

"Which of you is the least important?" it asked.

I looked startled at the question. "What do you mean? None of us is the least important!"

"Which of you is the least important?" It repeated the question.

Anger hit me suddenly as I glared at the Dalek. "I told you, none of us are!"

Rose placed a comforting hand on my shoulder as she looked at the Dalek. "We don't work like that. None of us."

"Designate the least important!" The Dalek shouted, ignoring what we were saying.

"This is my responsibility." Rajesh suddenly said.

"No, don't! You can't!" Rose and I shouted at the same time.

He ignored us and stood before the Dalek dejectedly. "I er – I represent the Torchwood Institute. Anything you need, you…come through me. Leave these three alone."

"You will kneel." The Dalek demanded.

"What for?"

"Kneel."

Rajesh kneeled. The surrounding Daleks directed their eye stalks onto him.

"The Daleks need information about current Earth history." The leader Dalek stated.

He cleared his throat. "Yeah well I can give you a certain amount of intelligence but nothing that will compromise Home Land security…"

The leader cut him off. "Speech is not necessary. We will extract brainwaves."

The three Daleks advanced upon Rajesh and positioned their suction arms around his head. Now, he was showing the first signs of fear, something he should have felt before.

"Don't…I – I'll tell you everything you need. No. No!" Rajesh screamed in agony before the Daleks crushed his skull.

I immediately felt like throwing up at the sight, but I didn't as I buried my face into Mickey's shoulder so I wouldn't have to look. I felt him move forward slightly, keeping a tight grip on me but trying to help him. Taking a peek, I saw Rose stop Mickey, knowing it was too late. My eyes welled with tears, my emotions getting the best of me. Stupid hormones…

Finally moving out of Mickey's shoulder, I watched as the Daleks let Rajesh's blackened corpse fall to the ground.

"His mind spoke of a second species invading Earth infected by the superstition of ghosts."

"I didn't have to kill him!" Rose exclaimed.

"Neither did we need him alive."

"Dalek Thay." Wait what…they had names? "Investigate outside."

"I obey." Dalek Thay left the sphere chamber. The Dalek hadn't been gone long when the leader Dalek spoke up again.

"Establish contact. Lower communications barrier." A projection appeared in the area that used to have the sphere, showing Dalek Thay's point of view. He met up with two Cybermen.

I thought about my mate…and hoped he was alright. I knew he was…but I was concerned about what he was going to feel when he saw the Daleks were alive.

"Identify yourselves," Dalek Thay demanded of the Cybermen.

"You will identity first."

"State your identity."

"You will identify first."

"Identify!"

"It's like Stephen Hawkins meets the Speaking Clock," Mickey commented and I stifled a giggle, not wanting to draw attention to myself.

"…illogical, you will mortify."

"Daleks do not take orders."

"You have identified as Daleks."

"Outline resembles the INFERIOR species known as Cybermen.'"

I felt my mobile from inside my pocket and just knew it was the Doctor. I managed to press answer on it without being seen by the Daleks, so the Doctor could hear what was going on. Not that they would since they were still bantering.

"We must protect the Genesis Ark."

"Our species are similar, though your design is inelegant."

"Daleks have no concept of elegance."

"This is obvious. But consider – our technologies are compatible. Cybermen plus Dalek – together, we could upgrade the Universe."

"You propose an alliance?" Dalek Thay asked.

"This is correct."

"Request denied."

Immediately, the Cybermen thrust their fists out, ready to shoot at Dalek Thay.

"Hostile elements will be deleted." They shot at Dalek Thay, but the rays simply bounced off of its armor.

This angered Dalek Thay, "Exterminate!" It aimed at both of the Cybermen, one after the other, and they collapsed on the floor as soon as they got shot. They may have been in a metal suit, but they still had human brains so for me, it seemed obvious that the Dalek was able to kill them and not the other way around.

"Open visual link." The Cyberman addressed the Daleks in the sphere room. "Daleks, be warned: you have declared war on the Cybermen."

I worried my bottom lip in response. Of course, the day had to get even worse.

"This is not war. This is pest control."

"We have five million Cybermen. How many are you?"

"Four."

"You would destroy the Cybermen will four Daleks?!"

"We would destroy the Cybermen with ONE Dalek. You are superior in only one respect."

"What is that?"

"You are better at dying. Raise Communication barrier!"

Staring at the screen, I saw my mate sneakily move so he could been seen on the camera.

"Wait!"

I smirked to myself. I quickly looked at my phone, seeing that the call ended, and I guessed he had gotten all that needed. I took in a breath and quickly let it out.

"Rewind the image by nine cells."

The image on the screen rewind and paused, the Doctor now in the background. I could feel a smile growing at the sight of him as they zoomed in on him.

"This male registers as enemy." My heart picked up in happiness and love. The Dalek turned on me and I froze, probably should have kept my emotions in check. "The female's heartbeat has increased."

"Identify him!"

I said nothing for a moment. "That's the Doctor." Immediately, the Daleks rolled backwards silently. Seeing this, confidence burst inside me and I smirked, leaning forward. "Ooh, so you're scared now? Five million Cybermen, and your scared of one Doctor. How fascinating…"

When Dalek Thay reentered the chamber, the other Daleks turned, rolling over to it. Then Mickey leaned towards me and Rose.

"Why are we being kept alive?" he muttered under his breath.

I bit my bottom lip, keeping my eyes on the Daleks. "I think they might need us." The Doctor had told me the story about when he saw Daleks for the first time since the Time War. How Rose woke one of them up… While the Daleks surrounded the Genesis Ark, Mickey pulled out a strange device. It looked like a necklace, but with a yellow button attached.

"I could transport out of here, but it only carries one and I'm not leaving you guys here." Mickey informed us. "Especially since now there's a baby involved."

This made me smile warmly as he looked at me. I placed a hand on my stomach.

"Thank you, Mickey." I said, and Rose smiled at him too.

"You'd follow me anywhere. What did I do to you all those years ago?" Rose teased, poking him in the chest.

"Guess I'm just stupid." Mickey casted his eyes down.

I reached forward and grabbed his hand, squeezing it. He looked up at me to meet my gaze. "You're anything but stupid, Mickey Smith. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise and if you do, just ignore them, they just don't know what they're missing. Next to the Doctor, you're one of the bravest men I've ever met.'

"I second that." Rose agreed, squeezing his other hand with her own smile.

Mickey smiled back at us, but then his smile fell as he glanced back at the Daleks. "Well, I can't think what the Daleks need with me. I'm nothing to them."

"You could be…" Rose muttered. "Whatever's inside that Ark is waking up and I've seen it before…the first time I saw a Dalek, it was broken. "It was dying. But I touched it. The moment I did that…I brought it back to life."

"The Doctor told me about that." I said in a low voice, and they both looked over at me. "As he said…when you travel in time in the TARDIS, you soak up all this background radiation. It's harmless, it's just there. But in the Time War, the Daleks evolved so they could use it as a power supply."

"I bet the Doctor loves it when you talk technical." Rose teased and I shoved her shoulder playfully with a blush.

"Shut up." With that, it felt like we were friends again. I ignored it for now before I continued, "If the Daleks have got something inside that thing needs waking up…then that's why they're keeping us alive. Any one of us could wake up whatever's inside."

"But why build something they can't open themselves?" Mickey asked.

One of the Daleks suddenly interjected. "The technology is stolen. The Ark is not of Dalek origin."

I looked at the Dalek, confused. "What do you mean? If it's not of Dalek origin, then what origin is it?"

"The Time Lords. This is all that survives of their home world." The four Daleks shuffled around the Ark.

"What's inside?" Rose questioned.

"The future."

The way they said that made my body tense up and my stomach did those flip flops. Again, the feeling of throwing up made it way up my throat. I quickly covered my mouth, turning my head to bury into Mickey's shoulder again. What I really wanted though was my mate here, telling me everything was going to be okay. That he wouldn't let anything happen to me…or the baby…if he knew about it that is…

The Daleks backed away from the Genesis Ark as my head lifted from Mickey's shoulder. "Final stage of awakening."

"Your handprint will open the Ark." One of the Daleks screeched at Rose.

She glared at it. "Well tough, 'cause I'm not doing it."

"Obey or the female will die." The Dalek turned towards me and I gulped, stepping back as Mickey put his arm in front of me protectively.

Rose immediately moved towards the Ark. "I can't let them."

"Wait, Rose, don't." I tried to protest. Though, I didn't want to die, I didn't want Rose to open up the Ark, who knows what would happen if she did.

"Place your hand on the casket." The Dalek shoved Rose towards the Ark and she jerked away.

"All right!" she snapped violently. She turned towards the Ark. "You're going to kill us anyway, so what the hell." Instead of moving over to the Ark, she turned back and faced the Daleks, going to stand in front of it. "If you um…escaped the Time War…don't you want to know what happened?"

"Place your hand…"

"What happened to the Emperor?" Rose asked, cutting them off. She was fighting back a smirk.

"The Emperor survived."

"Till he met me… 'cause if these are my last words, then you're going to listen. I met the Emperor. And I took the Time Vortex and I pulled it into his head and turned him into dust. Do you get that?" Rose smirked widely. "The God of all Daleks…and I destroyed him." She gave the Dalek a gloating smile and laughed.

"YOU WILL BE EXTERMINATED!" it shouted furiously as it went to do just that. I pulled Rose back immediately just as a familiar voice sounded.

"Oh now, hold on, wait a minute." My mate interrupted, standing in the doorway.

I sighed to myself in relief and my stomach did another flip flop, but this one was one of happiness. With him here, I felt completely safe, and so did my baby.

"Alert, alert – you are the Doctor." The Dalek screeched.

My mate sauntered into the room, wearing a pair of 3D glasses. My eyebrows furrowed together, confused. Sensing my look, he glanced at me and I rose a brow. He smiled and mouthed,

"I'll explain later."

"Sensors report he is unharmed." Dalek Thay announced.

"That's me." Theta said lightly. "Always."

"Then you are powerless."

"Not me." He pulled off his 3D glasses with flourish and a grin. "Never." The grin slipped as he glanced over at me, moving over to caress my cheek. "Are you alright? Feeling okay?"

I leaned into his touch. "A lot better." Especially knowing he was back here with me and not harmed.

"Good." Theta kissed my forehead before nodding towards Rose, eyes a little cold. It didn't last long as he grinned at Mickey. "And Mickity-McMickey!" They bashed fists together, such a man thing to do. "Nice to see ya!"

"And you boss." Mickey grinned.

"Social interaction will cease!"

"How did you survive the Time War?" Dalek Thay demanded.

My mate stared at the Dalek with a blank face. "By fighting. On the front line." I felt his sadness that he wasn't showing and I was already moved over to his side, grabbing his hand tightly to show I was right there.

Mickey turned as if this was the first time he was hearing this and it probably was since my mate wasn't open about it. Even I didn't know much about what happened.

"I was there at the Fall of Arcadia." My mate explained, his tone solemn. "Someday I might even come to terms to it." Telling me he was okay now by squeezing my hand, he let go and put his arms behind his back. "But you lot – you ran away!"

"We had to survive."

"The last FOUR Daleks in existence. So what's so special about YOU?"

Rose took a chance to speak in a low voice. "Doctor, they've got names. And Daleks, don't have names, do they? One of them said, they—"

"I am Dalek Thay." Dalek Thay informed.

"Dalek Sek."

"Dalek Jast."

"Dalek Caan."

"So THAT'S it!" Theta exclaimed, seemingly delighted by this information. "At last…the Cult of Skaro. I thought you were just a legend."

I titled my head to the side. "Who are they, Theta?"

As he responded, he strolled around them. "A secret order. Above and beyond the Emperor himself. Their job was to imagine. Think as the enemy thinks. Even dared to have names." His voice took on a distasteful tone and I flinched. "All to find new ways of killing."

Mickey gestured to the Ark. "But that thing, they said it was yours. I mean, Time Lords. They built it. What does it do?"

My mate glanced at it, frowning. "I don't know. Never seen it before."

If Theta hadn't seen it before that was saying something.

"Why would they say it was Time Lord then?" I asked my mate curiously.

He held my hand again, thumb brushing against my knuckles. "Both sides had secrets." He explained as he looked towards the Daleks. "What is it? What have you done?"

"Time Lord Science will restore Dalek supremacy."

"What does that mean?" Theta inquired demandingly. "What sort of Time Lord Science? What do you mean?"

"They said one touch from a time traveler will wake it up."

Theta shook his head. "Technology using the one thing a Dalek can't do. Touch. Sealed inside your casing. Not feeling anything…ever…from birth to death, locked inside a cold metal cage." He lowered his voice into a whisper. "Completely alone. And that explains your voice. No wonder why you scream."

"The Doctor will open the Ark!"

In response, he laughed contemptuously. "The Doctor will not!"

"You have no way of resisting!"

"Well…you got me there." My mate agreed. "Although…there is always this." He pulled out the sonic screwdriver out of his pocket.

"A sonic probe?"

"That's 'screwdriver'." The Doctor grinned.

"It is harmless." Dalek Sec stated scornfully.

His grin widened. "Oh yes…" he agreed. "Harmless is just the word. That's why I like it. Doesn't kill, doesn't maim. But I'll tell you what is does do – it is VERY good at opening doors."

He activated the screwdriver, and immediately, the door exploded. My eyes widened at the sight of Jake, a couple other men, and the Cybermen leaped into action, firing their guns at the Daleks.

"Delete! Delete! Delete! Delete!"

"Alert! Casing impact, casing impact!"

My mate pulled me down to the ground to avoid the guns. I had my arm around my stomach, protecting it. Rose joined us on the ground.

"Soph, get out!"

Rose tugged me up to my feet and I ran towards the doors.

"Fire power insufficient! Fire power insufficient!"

When I glanced back, I watched as Rose stumbled to the ground. I was going to go back and help but my mind was on my baby, wanting to protect him or her than my friend. Luckily, the one and only Pete Tyler, helped Rose to her feet.

They ran towards the door. As Mickey started firing his gun everywhere, I frantically looked for my mate.

"Theta!" I cried, fear creeping up in me. I didn't freak out for long as I saw him push past the smoke of the gun fire. Once he was in front of me, I threw myself at him, hugging him to myself. He squeezed me tightly.

"Mickey!" Rose shouted. He was still in the midst of all the havoc. "Come on!"

"Adapt to weaponry!" Dalek Thay screamed.

"Fire power restored!"

The Dalek fired once at a Cybermen, immediately destroying it. Jake managed to reach the door, but Mickey lost his footing and to the horror of everyone, he accidently touched the Genesis Ark. He dashed towards the door.

Every last person managed to slip through the doors and then the door closed, sealing both the Daleks and the Cybermen inside.
