It was the early day in Retroville. At Lindbergh Elementary School Miss Fowl stood in front of her students giving a lecture. "Raa and that's how the sesame encrusted breadstick came to the new world any questions? Mmm?" Miss Fowl said as she concluded the lecture. The children however were silent. A few had nodded off due to boredom.

Before Miss Fowl could say anything the bell rang jolting the kids who had fallen asleep awake. Everyone started to shuffle out of the classroom. "Class! Wait, don't forget to sign up for Friday's talent show! And remember it's not about who's more talented rra-ack it's about winning a very large and expensive solid gold trophy for fi-i-ir-rst place!" Miss Fowl told everyone. Later in the cafeteria kids were chattering and scattered at different tables during lunch break. Jimmy, Penelope along with Carl and Sheen sat at one of the tables mostly by themselves talking as they were having lunch.

"I'm gonna do my Emmy caliber water spitting routine for the talent show!" Sheen cried a little excitedly. "Oh yeah well, I'm gonna blow nose bubbles." Carl said snorting at the end of his sentence. "That'll be cool, but you know what I'm gonna do? Algebra in Latin." said Jimmy. "I'm going to do that dance I've been working on." Penelope told the three boys. Cindy and Libby came up to the four of them.

"Hey guys we're gonna go sign up for the talent contest. You should sign up too!" Cindy said cheerfully. Jimmy grinned at his friends and sister. He was about to speak up, but Cindy stopped him. "Oops I forgot; you have no talent." Cindy teased. Cindy and Libby burst into laughter.

Penelope shot Cindy a look. It was pretty clear the two girls heard them talking. "We're doing river stomp!" Cindy told them as she and Libby did a sideways fist bump. "River stomp? What the heck is that?" Sheen asked looking a little perplexed. Even Jimmy, Penelope and Carl were confused. "Funny you should ask." Cindy replied.

"Hit it Seamus!" Cindy cried. A boy nearby pressed a button on a boombox and music started playing. Cindy and Libby both started tapping their feet rhythmically on the floor to the music. Everyone, but the boys and Penelope started clapping. Jimmy, Penelope along with Carl and Sheen stared in disbelief.

Cindy lifted Libby up with her feet and twirled her through the air. The kids continued to clap, Carl even started hitting his palms on the table to the beat. Cindy and Libby returned to stomping on the floor for a moment before Libby continued to tap her feet as she lifted Cindy up with one hand. Cindy kept tapping her feet as Libby held her up. Libby then tossed Cindy up.

Cindy flipped as she approached the ground. Libby tumbled in the opposite direction before Cindy landed. The two girls kneeled and posed. The cafeteria erupted into applause even Carl was cheering. Cindy and Libby stood up.

"Ha beat that Neutron!" Cindy told Jimmy. Penelope knew Cindy and Libby were good. Jimmy knew this too, but he wasn't willing to admit it. "We will! Carl, Sheen and I are taking home that trophy! Right Sheen?" Jimmy told the girls before turning to his friend. "Yeah the trophy is ours! Right Carl?" Sheen asked as he looked at Carl.

Carl who was clearly amazed by Cindy and Libby's performance grinned before speaking up. "No way! You girls will definitely win!" Carl said giving the two a thumbs up. Penelope's eyes widened surprised at Carl's answer. "Carl!" Jimmy and Sheen cried in unison. Cindy returned the thumbs up.

"So what are you lame-o's gonna do? Something stupid like blowing nose-bubbles?" Cindy asked in a teasing manner. "Or spitting water? Ha ha." said Libby. Cindy glanced at Penelope narrowing her eyes a little as she did. Cindy knew there were some things Penelope was good at even if she wasn't willing to admit it. Penelope could tell from the look Cindy was giving her that she was being seen as competition.

It would be safe to say Cindy would probably go all out to make sure she beats not only Jimmy and their friends, but her as well. Cindy turned her attention to Jimmy. "Or do algebra in Latin?" Cindy asked. Cindy and Libby both burst into laughter. While the two girls laughed Jimmy noticed a poster for the boy band Outta Sync on the wall.

Jimmy smiled as he came up with an idea. "Actually, uh our band is going to play." Jimmy told the two girls. "You losers have a band?" Cindy asked looking at Jimmy a little skeptically. "Yes, we have a band, and we're going to stomp your river stomp!" Jimmy replied. "Oh yeah?" said Cindy.

"Yeah!" Jimmy said confidently. "Well we'll see on Friday!" Cindy told the boys. "That's right." Libby added. The two girls walked away feeling confident. Penelope knew full well Jimmy didn't even play an instrument neither did Carl and Sheen, but she also knew this wouldn't stop her brother.

"Oh man did they ever make a mistake, with our power cords and fat beats they're gonna wish they never I mean-" Sheen said excitedly, but stopped for a moment. "Hey wait a minute we don't have a rock band." Sheen said in realization. "Yeah, we don't even play instruments." said Carl. "Or have any discernible abilities." Sheen added putting a finger to his lips. "Guys, guys! Guys! I've got it under control!" Jimmy assured them.

Penelope had a pretty good idea of where this was going. Sometime later at the Neutron household Jimmy, Penelope, Carl and Sheen were in the garage. Jimmy held a light lime green guitar stamped with his atom logo. The guitar sparkled in the light as Jimmy riffs on it. Penelope watched intrigued.

"Gentlemen and lady I present the Neutron synchronous mind instruments! Each one has an internal computer that has downloaded every note, every cord. Every lick, every run, groove, rhythm, and beat ever played." Jimmy explained. Carl stared at the red drum set in front of him amazed. "All we have to do is think the sound and the instruments will do the rest." Jimmy added. Penelope gave her brother a thumb up. Sheen had a black bass guitar and just like the other instruments it had an atom logo.

Sheen stared at the instrument appreciatively. "So, if we think it, we can play it?" Carl asked. Jimmy as if to answer Carl's question started to strum his guitar. Sheen also started to strum his bass. "Oh baby! I'm playing I'm playing!" Sheen cried excitedly.

Carl feeling a little unsure started beating his drums. "Wow! I can do something! He he somebody call my mom!" Carl cried. The boys were interrupted by the sound of the garage door opening and Hugh ducking out of the house. "Ha you kids good luck tonight and remember have fun with it!" Hugh said cheerfully. "Hey Jimmy we need a name!" said Sheen.

"How about the mighty disciples of Ultra Lord?" Sheen suggested. "Ooh-ho what about what about this? The Science Kings." said Jimmy. "I gotta name and it's great." Carl piped in. "Does it have the word llama in it?" Sheen asked eying Carl a little. "No!... Yes." Carl replied.

"Okay well um maybe we can mix 'em together? I know 'The Llama Lords of Science'!" said Jimmy. "Alright!" Carl cried. "Oh that's cool!" Sheen said with excitement in his voice. "One two three! Think!" said Jimmy. The three boys began playing their instruments.

Penelope smiled as she watched her brother and their friends. They looked like they were having fun. Jimmy, Carl and Sheen's music could be heard by neighbors and passerbys. The next thing some of their classmates and other kids from school all gathered to watch the boys play. Even Hugh was standing in the crowd.

The girls in the crowd screamed excitedly. Hugh who was up in front screamed the loudest. He giggled for a moment before fainting. Penelope snickered as she shook her head a little. 'Typical Dad.' Penelope thought to herself.

Penelope glanced at the crowd and couldn't help, but notice Cindy and Libby were in the crowd. "This can't be happening! Nerdtron actually rocks!" Cindy cried. She had a distraught look on her face. Something caught Penelope's eye causing her to grin. "Hey Cindy look!" Penelope shouted so Cindy could hear her as she pointed down.

Cindy noticed Penelope pointing she also felt movement from her right foot and looked down. Cindy's foot was tapping she was clearly enjoying the music. "Aah my foot is tapping! Libby, we gotta get outta this place!" Cindy yelled. Libby however did more than tap a foot she was in fact dancing. "I-I-I can't fight the music!" Libby told Cindy.

"Snap out of it! We can't let Carl, Sheen, and Neutron win that trophy! Come on we've got work to do!" Cindy shouted. With that Cindy grabbed Libby who continued to dance and dragged her away marching towards her house. Soon the boys finished their set and grinned at the crowd. Sheen threw his hand up in a Vulcan hand signal. Jimmy threw his fist up.

Carl held his drumsticks excitedly. "I'm gonna be the greatest rock star ever." the boys said in unison. "Uh I'm thinking about- uh changing our name what about the Jimmy Neutron experience?" said Jimmy. "Yeah, I kinda like the Carl Wheezer project." Carl said with a grin. "I have to vote for Sheen and the Sheenettes. You guys can be the Sheenettes. Um or we can get some Sheenettes and you guys can stand behind the curtain and carry my stuff around and stuff." Sheen told his friends.

Jimmy and Carl both shot Sheen a look. Penelope's face paled a little. "I don't think I like where this is going." Penelope muttered softly. Meanwhile at the Vortex household Cindy and Libby were both practicing their river stomp. Libby panted and felt exhausted.

"So tired haven't eaten or slept." Libby said as she gasped for air in-between her sentence. Cindy however desperate to improve their routine wasn't letting up. "Libby quit slacking you heard Neutron and his band of nerds! We have to be better; we are the mistresses of dance! Faster Libby faster!" Cindy cried. Libby hyperventilated for breath as she continued to dance. Cindy had a somewhat deranged look on her face and her bangs were swept back.

Back in the garage of the Neutron household Jimmy, Carl and Sheen continued to fight. "Okay so uh what song are we gonna do at the talent show tonight?" Carl asked. "I wrote a speed-metal-rock opera last night it's called Ultra Lord! Superhero star." said Sheen. "Well you see I was thinking more along the lines of techno alternative ska with some free jazz thrown in to you know impress the critics." Jimmy told his friends. "I wrote a love song." said Carl.

"Is it about llamas?" Jimmy demanded shooting Carl a look. "No!...yes." Carl replied. "No love songs! We gotta kick out the jams dude!" Sheen snapped. "Jimmy when do I get to play my drum solo?" Carl asked. "Carl gets a drum solo? I want a bass solo!" Sheen cried.

"No, no drum solos and no bass solos if anyone has a solo it's gonna be me!" Jimmy said pointing at himself with his thumb. "You! Who died to make you rock and roll king?" Sheen snapped. "I think we should all wear make-up." Carl piped in. "No make-up!" Sheen shouted. "Guys, guys what we all look like isn't really important. Now let's practice." Jimmy said trying to reason with his friends.

"Practice! Don't tell me what to do, alright!" Sheen cried. "Yeah Neutron ever since I started this band you've been holding me back!" Carl said as he joined in. "Wait, wait you? No, I started this band!" Jimmy shouted. "You didn't start-" Carl started to say. "You started this band?" Sheen shouted.

The boys continued to argue until Penelope spoke up. "Guys stop fighting!" Penelope yelled. "Oh go practice your stupid dance giant monster!" Sheen yelled back. Penelope almost couldn't believe her ears. She had a look of shock on her face, but it was quickly replaced with a look of anger. "You know what fine! I will!" Penelope snapped.

Penelope angrily walked out of the garage and went to her room to practice. She passed Hugh on the way. The boys on the other hand argued until they were interrupted by Hugh opening the door and popping into the garage again. "Ha ha you kids good luck tonight! And remember have fun with it." Hugh said with a cheerful grin. The boys just glared at each other and growled.

Later in the evening at Lindbergh Elementary parents and students were all gathered in the auditorium. A spotlight shown on the stage illuminating it. Miss Fowl stood on the stage to greet the audience. "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Lindbergh Elementary's annual talent show rraa and now our first contestant, Nick Dean! Rra-aa!" Miss Fowl called out to the audience. Nick strolled out onto the stage.

He turned to face the audience. He looked both ways then flashed two finger guns and clicked his tongue. The audience cheered thinking it looked cool. Nick walked away blowing air kisses as he did. "Oh, he's one of a ki-ind!" Miss Fowl cheered.

Behind the curtains Penelope waited patiently for her turn. After some other kids went Miss Fowl cleared her throat before speaking. "Next we have Penelope Neutron!" said Miss Fowl. Penelope picked up a boombox took a deep breath and walked out onto the stage. She could see her parents in the audience as she turned to face everyone.

Penelope set the boombox down pressed a button on it and music began to play. Penelope broke into dance. As she danced she did some jumps, flips and kicks that she added in. The audience stared in awe clearly amazed with what they were seeing. When Penelope finished her dance she was sweating a little.

The audience cheered and clapped. Penelope bowed as she picked up her boombox. She then marched off with her boombox in hand. 'I really hope Jimmy, Carl and Sheen have sorted out their problem.' Penelope thought to herself. Meanwhile up in Miss Fowl's classroom Jimmy paced around waiting for Carl and Sheen to show up.

"Ah puking Pluto where is he." Jimmy said getting a little impatient. Not long after saying this Sheen walked in. "Hey way to show up five minutes before we go on Sheen." Jimmy said a little irritably. "Wha-wait-wait- excuse me for now you will refer to me as the artist formerly known as Sheen." Sheen told Jimmy. A tall thin woman in a red dress with red framed sunglasses walked in.

She talked on a cellphone as Carl walked in following behind her. "Hmm no he never sings back-up he always sings lead." the woman said to the person on the line. Carl had his hair styled into a bowl cut and wore a pair of sunglasses. Carl looked at Jimmy and Sheen and frowned. "Hey what's this? I have to share a blooming dressing room with you two blokes." Carl said speaking with a British accent.

"Carl? Why are you talking like that?" Jimmy asked looking at Carl a little perplexed. "Oh- no, no no no, please refer all inquiries to me image consultant." Carl replied gesturing to the woman. Carl noticed a box of doughnuts on the desk in front of him. He reached over to take a doughnut. "Yes, yes." said the woman as she kept talking on her cellphone.

She noticed Carl trying to take a doughnut and smacked his hand. "No." she told Carl before returning to the phone. "Yes, yes." the woman continued. "Oh that's right big calendar shoot coming up." Carl said in realization. "You're what?" Jimmy said a little shocked.

Sheen looked over at the doughnuts and frowned. "Hey, hey? What is this? I specifically requested dolphin safe doughnuts!" Sheen yelled grabbing a doughnut. "I refuse to perform until all of my ridiculous demands are satisfied!" Sheen continued. He angrily took a bite of the doughnut. "Fine we don't need you!" Jimmy snapped.

"Right more time for me drum solo!" said Carl. Sheen looked at Jimmy placing a hand near his mouth so Carl wouldn't notice him talking. "What's wrong with his throat?" Sheen asked softly. Back down in the auditorium Cindy and Libby were at the tail end of their performance. Cindy grinned ear to ear as the audience clapped and cheered.

Libby on the other hand was a little winded. "Thank you!" Cindy told the audience as she and Libby waved. She turned her attention to Libby. "Let's see those bone heads beat that." said Cindy. Cindy and Libby then joined the other contestants who had already performed behind the curtains.

In the audience Hugh and Judy clapped. "Oh that was nice. But I think Jimmy and his friends will be even better." Judy told Hugh. "Eh they better be I paid a hundred and twenty-five bucks for these tickets." said Hugh. "Hugh this is a free school function." Judy pointed out. "Deh, darn scalpers." said Hugh.

Back in the classroom the boys continued to argue. Neither of them noticed Penelope peeking through the door watching them. Penelope face palmed herself. "They're still fighting." Penelope muttered. "You can't just have anything you want!" Jimmy argued.

"I want a drum solo!" Carl cried. "I want a behind the scenes documentary tracing my amazing ride to fame! While revealing several humiliating skeletons in my closet." said Sheen. "Augh I can't believe I even let you two in my band!" Jimmy shouted. "Your band!" Carl yelled. "Yes, my band if it wasn't for my instruments, you'd be blowing nose bubbles and spitting water!" Jimmy angrily replied.

"Oh yeah?" said Sheen. "Yeah!" Jimmy replied. "Well here's what I think about your stupid instruments!" Sheen yelled. With that he yanked Jimmy's guitar off him walked over to the window and tossed the two instruments out the window. Carl deciding to join in tossed his drumsticks out the window.

There was a loud crash as the instruments hit the ground. Penelope's face paled. With the instruments destroyed the boys wouldn't be able to perform. Jimmy was devastated. "Hey! You just destroyed my instruments!" Jimmy cried horrified.

"Who needs your stupid instruments when you've got my musical genius!" said Sheen. "Oh, you're both a couple of ruddy twits!" Carl told his friends. "That's it!" Jimmy said with anger in his voice. The three started growling at each other looking like they were about ready to fight. Penelope pinched the bridge of her nose.

She had officially decided this had gone on long enough. Penelope marched into the room. "Would you guys stop it?!" Penelope shouted. Before the boys could even look at her Hugh popped up looking at them through the window. "Ha ha you kids! Ha good luck tonight and remember have fun with it!" Hugh said cheerfully.

Not long after saying this Hugh lost his balance and fell landing on the ruined instruments which broke his fall. Penelope winced a little. Jimmy's face began to soften in realization. "Well- Wait a minute Sheen, Carl what are we doing?" Jimmy asked his friends. "Well I was about to strangle Carl." Sheen replied.

"Yeah and I was gonna slap Sheen in the back of the head." Carl confessed. "Look at us we're best friends and ever since we started this band we've been arguing and fighting were so obsessed with becoming rock stars that we've forgotten the real reason we did this." Jimmy explained. Carl and Sheen looked at each other unsure and confused. "To beat Cindy and Libby!" Jimmy cried. "Yeah!" Carl and Sheen said in unison.

The three were full of energy. This however didn't last long. Miss Fowl entered the classroom. "Llama Lords of Science wrrraaa-aa you're on!" Miss Fowl informed. Jimmy, Carl and Sheen gulped.

They were up next and they had no instruments to perform with. "We can't go on without our instruments! They'll laugh at us!" Sheen cried. "They'll write unkind things about us in our yearbooks." Carl said worriedly. Jimmy thought for a moment and smiled when an idea came to mind. Later back down in the auditorium Miss Fowl stood up on stage giving an announcement.

"Aw, there's been a slight change, the Llama Lords of Science will not be performing." Miss Fowl told the audience. This caused everyone to groan in disappointment. "I want my money back, eh not that I paid or anything." said Hugh. Judy rolled her eyes and shook her head a little. "Instead here is Jimmy, Sheen and Carl doing...Eh something else." Miss Fowl continued as the boys walked out onto the stage.

"Ehehem observe!" Carl told the audience. He pulled out his asthma inhaler. He pressed the button and breathed in his medicine. Carl inhaled deeply and began exhale through his nose. A green bubble started to form.

Carl panted a little and used his inhaler again. He then preceded to blow a nose bubble making it grow larger until it was so large he started to float off the stage. Jimmy and Sheen grabbed ahold of Carl floating up with him. The three were suspended in the air. The audience gasped in shock.

Judy made a face of disgust. The bubble continued to grow then it began to creak until finally it burst splattering mucus. "Eew." everyone exclaimed in disgust. Later on outside the school Jimmy, Carl, Sheen along with Penelope were all standing outside the school. Penelope held a small trophy in her hands with second place engraved in it.

Jimmy on the other hand held a really small trophy in his hand. It was so small it could fit in his hand. Cindy's mother Sasha Vortex passed by making a face at them as she did. "Ah cheer up guys eighth place isn't so bad." Carl said trying to be optimistic. "Carl, there were only seven acts." said Sheen.

Sheen put up six of his fingers counting trying to figure out what's wrong with eighth place. Jimmy spoke up as he did this. "Think of it this way guys we may not have won first prize, but at least we got our friendship back." said Jimmy. Penelope smiled she was glad her brother and their friends made up. "I know one thing. I'm never playing in a band with you guys ever again." Sheen told his friends.

"Ha ha me neither." Carl said with a chuckle. "He he got that right." Jimmy agreed. The four friends heard grunting noises coming from a short distance away. Cindy and Libby came walking up with a large trophy that was as least as big as them. It was so big they had to put it in a wagon.

The two stopped for a moment to look at them. "Hey guys, I got a new name for you, the losers." Cindy said mockingly. "Ha ha you guys walking home? Or are you taking the snot bubble? Ha ha." Libby teased. "Oh that was good! Snot bubble..." Cindy said laughing a little. The two walked away laughing as they pulled the wagon.

"Oh yeah well you just wait till next year Vortex. The Llama Lords of Science are gonna reunite!" Jimmy cried. "Yeah and I'm doing my drum solo!" said Carl. "No drum solos no." Jimmy told Carl. "Right no drum solos... but a bass solo from the artist formally known as Sheen?" Sheen asked hopeful. "None of that either." said Jimmy.

"I want a drum solo!" Carl shouted putting on a British accent once again. "Hey, hey enough with the-" Jimmy began as they argued. "Here we go again." Penelope sighed. She shook her head. It would be safe to say Jimmy, Carl and Sheen wouldn't be trying to start a band ever again.

Well how was it? R&R. Tips on what I can do to improve welcome. No flamers please.
