Chapter three First time.
Dr. Harano stood by Ino's desk when she heard a far away clack coming. Hyuuga held the box in front her lap taking confident strides into the office. The new agent hair was pinned down in a bun and pants suit present. She walked onto the floor getting a little lost because no one ever showed her where she would be station.
The Doctor rolled her eyes so, the cry baby has returned, she would admit she was impressed not every one can handle her profiling.
"Agent Hyuuga over here" Ino said pointing to the empty cubical.
Hinata smiled and took a seat in the empty divider she placed her box on the desk area while taking a seat. In a clutter of people she was placed next to officers Heiki, Inzunka, Sai, Uchiha and Agent Yamanaka.
Ino smiled at the newbie. "I'll get you your logs" she told her.
"Thank you" Hinata said relieved not sure what to expect.
"No mention it" she said before standing up and walking away.
"Good Morning Agent Hyuuga"
She looked up at Dr. Harano. "Good morning Doctor Harano"
Hinata would not let her drive her out.
"When Ino returns with your logins you. In your work email there will be the memo I want you to thoroughly prepare yourself. Type practice questions and strategies. You do not want to be unprepared on a case when I'm calling you for answers. Or when the Directors are calling you for answers." Hinata noticed Sakura calls Agent Yamanaka by her first name.
"Yes understood."
Agent Yamanaka handed her a printed piece of paper with a few username and passwords. She began her day trying to navigate the systems before actually getting to the memo.
She'll be addressing the media about the suspects. Meaning she'll be on camera talking to the public. She'll also have to ease in the ABAU with the local police of where said victims and acts are found. Lastly she is to speak with victims and their family's before and after they are interview she is responsible for them. After watching the training video of her job descriptions she felt a tap on her shoulder. She looked and saw Officer Inuzuka standing there as everyone around her left. It has to be early noon she thinks starting outside the window.
"You survived Harano .. Let's go to lunch" he smiled down at her, she smiled standing up with a stretch grabbing her bag. "Come along Pond"
A smile hit her lips as he further explained.
"Get it because she's a doctor" he said
She walked side by side with him behind the group of officers and Yamanaka.
She giggled. "A doctor who fan ?"
"What's so funny ?"
She giggled more. "Nothing you should be the doctor is all. Considering you're the police... Tardis".
"Oh your more corny than me ha ha"
She shrugged and looked up at him.
"When will you come meet the dogs and take a ride"
" Two dogs and you... I don't know seems crowded".
"It's bigger on the inside" He said peeking down at her, and they both laughed at the corny joke while rounding into the break room.
She walked to the fridge grabbing her bento as he went to the vending machine. They walked back to the table, and she ate her lunch from yesterday.
"Come on Sai it would be fun"
"Yamanaka me and you have two different ideas on the definitions of the world fun"
"Fun I like fun" Inzunka added.
Ino sighed and turned to them.
"I want to do a mug exchange since they installed a dishwasher. No more paper cups but nobody wants to"!
"I'm in" Hinata told her.
The girl brighten and up and turned to Sai. "Told you"
Officer Sai leaned forward. "You don't have to lie to her Hyuuga"
Hinata smiled as Ino pouted at him.
"We'll I'm in too" Inzunka said.
"Okay so counter clock wise. I get Hyuuga,Hyuuga gets Inzunka. Inzunka gets me. We shall exchange tomorrow" Yamanaka says.
Hinata began eating her grapes and cheese from yesterday before Her cousin and Uchiha walked in.
Oh, no not again. Dr. Harano threw a hiss fit last time she was seen with him and the jr director. Hinata thought she also save Neji the trouble of having to deal with her. She grabbed her bento and booked it out of their back to her divider. She didn't have the luxury of lunch for how unprepared she is for this job. It's too early to clock back in from, so she sits there. Contemplating life going back to that word senior director called her. Almost. She almost quit on the first day. She almost cried in front of her co-workers and boss. She almost told Hanabi the Mizu corp seem scary, and she almost called her sister before that day. Closing her eyes she took deep breaths.
The indistinct reporting of the news and the shuffling pop in her ear.
"What do you think of that ?" A low husky voice ask. She felt her chest sunk, and she could feel a presence behind her. Her pearl eyes pop open and turned around to see the Junior director standing above her. All the hair on her body felt alert at his closeness. There's a tan crease in his eyebrows above those serious blue eyes while he's looking a head. Hinata turned a throbbing mess due to his uncomfortable anxiety inducing handsome watches to the TV.
"The story is developing. Here is Salamanders being arrested by ABAU members six years ago when he moved his hunting ground to the Land of fire. You can see director Hatake putting him in the car. Hanzo the Salamander has been killed in prison but it was not just him who perished. His Innocent Family members across the land of rain. His whole bloodline have met their demise. It's been reported that six of Hanzo victims have been taken and their bodies snatched from their graves"
Hinata remembers him from yesterday. His victims.
"What do you think this means?" That same voice asked her this time walking into the arch of her divider. She could see the whole floor watching the news behind him. Her eyes peeked from them then up at his face. His body was thickly wrapped in his suit as if its burst is he turned wrong. He almost looked too young to be in it. His blonde head was meshing with the ceiling lights as she blinked. He wants her to profile.
"Before you answer come up with the type of unidentified suspect you think would kill an entire bloodline of a man then dig of the victims that same man killed"
She swallowed looking back down at the scene then up to the director. "It's personal... No" she took a deep breath. "It's beyond personal... It's deep-rooted and vengeful. It isn't just regular revenge. It's someone playing chess or God" she said then blushed at herself how stupid she must sound to him. She couldn't anticipate a serial killer.
"My apologizes for not properly introducing myself. Junior Director Uzumaki" He held out his hand. She could feel herself smiling like an idiot taking it. Her palms slid in smoothly in his. "It's an Honor Agent Hyuuga"
She wanted to run away and hide. She didn't know if he was mocking her or looking down at her.
"No no apologizes needed Communication Liaison... Agent Hyuuga" it's so weird it's like Agent was her new first name.
"Sr. Director Hatake expressed your only credits away from being a profiler. I believe him".
Her eyes twinkle at him. He doesn't mean that.
"Oh no I couldn't possibly do what you do. You're all are so great" she says feeling like a blabbering fool before realizing she kept his hands in place. She quickly pulled away with a red face as he walked sideways back into the walkway.
"Agent Hyuuga you just did"
He said her jaw drop as her eyes lowered to the time. She's 20 minutes late.
"Have a productive evening" he tells her then walks away.
She quickly gets back on the clock.
An hour later and it keeps replaying their counter in her head. She's fighting a smile and embarrassment. Director Uzumaki was just so pleasing to the eye. The way his short blonde hair spiked. His blue serious eyes scanning her soul. His body tight in dry-cleaned dark suits. He was even more mesmerizing when he actually speaks. She found him attractive. Very attractive. Extremely attractive. Painfully attractive. Stupidly attractive. Stress inducing attractive. She stops those thoughts as her smile faltered into determination remembering the topic of their conversation. Death and murder. There's nothing to smile about she focused back on strategies.
Its almost sunset when the officer's start running about. Her eyes met with Ino's who stiffen in her chair. Director Uzumaki, Agent Nara, and Dr. Harano all were stampeding to the conference room.
"Hyuuga Uchiha conference now!" The doctor yelled.
She stood up and her and Agent Uchiha shared a glance before hoping to it.
She rushed inside the room and was met with a picture out of some horrors freak show.
A young girl bleeding from her mouth and joints.
"This is happening west of The land of fire. They're calling him the puppeteer of the west. 3 young girl between the ages of 14 and 17 have been found in a doll taxidermy style state. Drained of everything."
Hinata swallowed her freak out.
"Interesting ages to start with for victims" Sasuke says." it could be at random but tender ages before the girl becomes a woman. It means something".
"I'll have Agent Yamanaka look for any similar cases or victims" Sakura said then turned to Hinata.
"I want you to get to talking to the police before we even land."
"He's dumping the bodies on swing sets, carousels and in parks. This reflects childhood trauma. He's obsession is dolls? No. Marrionettes. The gender expressed that he is more effected by his mother. The ages could mean she had him young, and he's already has snatched his next victim" Director Uzumaki said.
Everything was happening so fast. Agent Hyuuga had been told to go home, pack, come to the airport and work on contacting the police. She's currently on a jet A as the officers are on Jet B. She's shaking as she types and write things down on paper.
After checking in the hotel. She called the Senju county police department and gave them what Director Uzumaki gave her. He's already got his next victim. She has been speaking with the Chief in Senju as the rest of the team were on interviews and profiling. Her ass was to get to Dr. Harano in two minutes. The family of the latest victim had been difficult.
The sun beamed down with no mercy. The Junior director could feel the fumes blazing from the land of wind. The heat and the air picked up the toxics from the land of rain and dumped them in the land of fire. His blue eyes blinked to the sky then back at the distraught mother.
"She was only fourteen" the mother cried as Agent Hyuuga rubbed her back.
"I know this is hard for you Mrs. Komatsu" he offers to her as she and the new agent sat on a picnic table in the front lawn. He could see Agent Hyuuga trembling more than the mother. Her pearl eyes filled with emotions the wave of her arm across Mrs. Komatsu back has become too generous. A sister her file read. The same cousin he read on Neji's file. Personalization. Agent Hyuuga was getting emotionally invested. The heat sizzled as he turned to the yellow painted home.
Sakura studied the girls room as Agent Uchiha walked around in the bathroom not all doll in sight.
"I don't get why get late teens if you're going for a doll look? The victims are too old for the puppeteer profile"
Sasuke walked out the bathroom holding a sanitary pad.
"How old were you when you menstruated" he asked her.
She then realized "the unsubs mother got pregnant at fourteen"
"Raised him between 16 and 17"
"The ages of the last two victims"
Sasuke stepped right in front of her. "He's recreating his mother"
They drove in the car on the way back to the precinct. Agent Hyuuga and Uchiha got into the respective field ops car with the officers. The director had Uchiha's on the phone.
"This unsub already has his mother bones if not his fathers their already transformed into his puppets. The mama and the papa. He was able to get away with, but he couldn't satisfy that urge to continued after he finished with his mother he will switch to males". Sasuke finished.
"Harano call Yamanaka!" The Director yelled at her.
Uchiha finally gave him a profile. There's an unnamed victim somewhere about to be murdered if he didn't find her first. He didn't want any more mothers mourning because of this unsub.
"Yamanaka look for anything connected to grave tampering" Harano yelled into the phone. The junior Director was still missing something. Uchiha was in the fields and profiling the impossible but there's something else.
"If he's creating his mother life through his victims than the ages is mid twenties if not early twenties tell Yamanaka those ages. He is obsessed with preserving. He has plastic surgery" Nara yelled from the front.
Naruto felt his heart beat sped up as he looked out into the desert. The profile was coming along. What was he missing?
His phone rang and he answered
"Uchiha"
"It's Agent Hyuuga. The next victim has been identified. Her father is at the station".
He closed his eyes. The past three victims were missing for a month but alive for 3 weeks before being found.
Hinata she sat by the man as he calmed. It took Kiba and Sai to put him in a choke hold, and he finally stopped fighting them.
The door open and Sakura came whispering in her ear. "You need to go prep the director. Then get ready for a meeting with law enforcement. Tell Mr. Dai what's going to happen".
Hinata looked in bed green eyes then Mr. Dai she saw Kiba and Sai in the corners she stood up. "Mr. Dai the junior director of the ABAU will speaking with you about your daughter about Aiko okay"
"Okay Ms. Hyuuga".
When she closed the door the rest of rhe3 team were outside behind the double mirror glass. She steps to him. "His daughter name is Aiko Dai 19-year-old she was last seen driving from class her vehicle were found in a Lake. They couldn't find her bag or cellphone".
The jr director nodded and walked forward past her. She wasn't done.
Naruto sat in front of this man.
"Mr. Dai my name is Naruto Uzumaki I'm the Jr director of the Anbu Behavioral analysis unit.
"You come all way down here from the capital for my daughter?"
"Yes sir. Me and my agent's have profile the man who has her, and he keeps his victim's alive for at least 3 weeks."
"And what happen when's the three weeks are up she's going to be made into some damn doll"
Naruto gave him a few seconds. "I'm hoping you can help me understand your daughter better, so we can learn why this man targeted her"
"She's kind a little dingy, but she means well, and she's strong she doesn't let people down even when they have let her down. She loves makeup and that damn cellphone".
The whole team outside awaited orders as the director walked out.
Uchiha stepped up to him. "An old timer an old famous puppeteer has to have taught him his ways even raised him. The craftsmanship also is perfected. Agent Yamanaka needs to look for a famous Puppet master daughter or son had a kid who lost both parents. Who takes a kid in once a parent is gone?"
"The other parent" Harano offered
"If their both gone" Nara spoke up
"The grandma" Sasuke yelled. "He's picking his mother first because women have had an overall presence in his life"
"Get them ready" The director said.
Hinata stood by the chief in a room filled of policemen. "Ladies and gentlemen Director Uzumak of the Abau will be giving you descriptions of your suspect. He has been profiled."
She says before stepping back.
Director Uzumaki step forward.
"This is a deeply disturbed man who parents past at away at the same time. Leaving him alone. Maybe it was during a robbery gone wrong, but he just doesn't take his victims he cleans them out. Make them a hollow as his first human puppets which are his parents. As hollow as he is on the inside. He has altered his face extremely to preserve his youthfulness. To stay that hollow child waiting for his parents to come home. He is recreating his mother through his victims from the age be been conceived. We're looking for a large land were an elder woman can retire and make crafts and when we get there we will find more bodies. Last he's not working alone".
Meanwhile in Konoha Ino held the phone as her fingers had cramps from typing. "I have the address it's an estate 30 miles in the next county. Ino yelled through the phone speaker. "The Maleficent Lady Chiyo famous Marionette maker and performer during the third great war. Her work was satirical in the land of wind. She settled down in Konoha after the fame from her war art had died down she had a daughter who married gave birth to a son Sasori. This kid is complete off the radar after his 9th birthday".
"Address Ino !" The Director barked at her.
"Right!"
The policemen and the officers shuffled to their feet.
Hinata had been watching her cousin Drive the SUV from the middle seat behind him. Her fingers kept balling and opening. Her chest trembled, and she blacked out tuning the commotion out as they drew closer.
Her phone rung and she answered it.
"Hello?"
There was heavy breathing and sobs.
"Hello my name is Aiko Dai. He's going to kill me".
"Hello Aiko I'm Agent Hyuuga everyone is looking for you okay can you tell me where you are ?" She asked.
Her eyes trembled as she looked around at the officers.
"Listen Agent Hyuuga"
her ears winced as the wire in her ear has activated.
Dr. Harano was talking to her.
"You keep that phone on mute after each question got it! The calls have been automatically routed to your number. You are not ready for this type of call. I will guide you".
"It's dark. Cages. There were more people, but he just started taking them".
"He's getting rid of evidenced"
Hinata could hear Director Uzumaki say into her ear.
"Just keep her talking console her lightly we're almost there"
Hinata pressed the unmute button. "Do you see anything? Any animals any clothes any shoes and smells colors anything ?"
"Red I see red paint and it smells weird."
"That's so good thank you! Tell me about yourself".
Mute
Tenten nose twinkled as they drove Akumaru was panting and walking back and forth behind her ear in his cage.
"What is that damn smell?" Kiba asked.
Tenten realized what it is. She learned about it before. "It's used to sink ships and in combat it's a forbidden weapon determined by the Allied forces of the 5 great nations it comes from the land of Earth detonating clay"
"Shit" Kiba said.
"I'm going to die aren't I agent Hyuuga"
"No no"
"Don't lie to her Agent. She might"
Hinata frowned at the Doctor in her ear.
"You reached us how did you do that ?"
"I'm studying IT and engineering."
"Agent do not get too personal"
"Oh yeah your dad told me"
"Dad ? Is he there"?
"Distract her Agent"
"He's at the station. He's going crazy about you. Everyone is looking for you honey".
"No pet names Agent! Tell her to find a way out".
"Dad thinks I'm nerdy. There's so much stuff like a second hand store or something. There was an old cellphone, and he left us lemons to eat. I found some wire and made a makeshift charger".
"Yeah the lemon juice has electrolytes right?"
Mute
"Dr. Harano there could be bombs on the property" Officer Heiki spoke through her wire.
"Not that many people know that how do you ?" Aiko asked.
Hinata went back to an 11 grade project her sister helped her with.
"My little sister helped me with a project once".
"You have a sister?"
"Do not get personal Hyuuga."
Hinata eyes scanned the surrounding land as she talked ignoring the doctor.
"Yes"
"I'm sorry" Aiko said.
"It's alright. It's okay. Her names Hanabi".
"Did she. Die ?"
"I like to think not" Hinata closed her eyes
"You're allowing the victim to control the conversation. You're letting a girl that was kidnapped get more information out of you than you out of her! You are out of bounds Hyuuga".
Hinata pulled out her wire.
"What happen?"
"She disappeared on duty. She was very smart she navigated submarines in the Mizu Corp. They said she was lost at sea".
Tenten looked over at her then the Captain. His eyes winced as his cousin spoke of this. Lost at sea she doubts that. Her leg started to shake as everyone listened in.
"I think I'll disappear to never see my family again. I don't want to die".
"Hey the difference is you have us on the way and I need you to find the nearest exit and be ready to come to us okay"
"AHHHHHHHHH"
Hinata could only hear a scuffle, but she kept yelling to Aiko. Her eyes trembled.
"Red barn up ahead !" Sai yelled.
"I can't drive this vehicle in the field Officer Inzunka you take the dogs sniff out the bombs if any"
Kiba grabbed the dogs and they began to bark immediately. "There're bodies and gunpowder all over this place" he said in to his wire.
"HELP HELP ME" they heard
"All remaining Officers go"
Uchiha dash past them all. Heiki Sai and Ambrame had their guns draw. Hinata came out her heels as she ran.
"AIKO ! WE'RE HERE!" she yelled.
Off in the distance she could a girl running in a yellow dress as a figure with red hair ran behind her.
Uchiha began booking it as Heiki covered him.
Kiba and the dogs were being pulled in all kinds of directions. Pakun smelling bomb residues and Akumaru smelling remains.
He had tears in his eyes knowing he would have to let one go and it was Pakun. He dropped the leash and the dog ran forward before exploding. Kiba winced and ran with Akumaru towards the remains he smelt.
Hinata screamed as a bomb went off but Aiko had run right into arms they fell on the ground in a fit of sobs as Sasuke tackled the red-headed man to the ground. Tenten handed him handcuffs as Aburame and Captain Hyuuga had their guns drawn at his head. Sasuke picked him up and handed him to Captain Hyuuga. Hinata hugged Aiko who cried before Dr Harano, special Agent Nara, and Director Uzumaki stood above them.
"Sakura I'LL SEE YOU SOON" Sasori yelled over and over.
Sakura scowl eased in uncertainty as the suspect yelled her name. Why and how does he know me.
Her thoughts are interrupted as a black cloud darts from behind her.
"Get him out of here" Sasuke yelled at the officers as he stepped in front of her blocking Sakura from Sasori's view.
Her throat got dry as she looked up at his back. His arms stretched hiding her until the car carrying Sasori is gone from view. He dropped his arms and turned to her. She eased her arms back crossing over her chest.
"Thank you"
Sure most days she can only scream inside her head remembering how we're together one night then he just disappeared. What hurt most was she thought he stopped hanging with Naruto because of her, but he truly is a talented profiler and officer. They made a good profile together for not knowing Sasori had an accomplice. Most of it was right.
"He wants to talk to you"
"I don't think that'll happen considering the location of these murders"
Hinata had been still on the ground with Aiko.
"Ms. Dai let's get you in an ambulance" Director Uzumaki said gentle before picking her up.
"Agent Hyuuga I need her"
Hinata started to walked forward but Dr. Harano grabbed her wrist. "Distance yourself draw the line"
Hinata swallowed. "Your father will be at the hospital" Hinata said as the Director met paramedics with a stretcher laying her down.
Tenten stood inside the barn her eyes widen and sunk inside her head a dozen of puppets strung up on the wall. Limbs hanging everywhere candles lit as two puppet in particular held a puppet child in a hug. She felt light-headed as Akumaru barked at the dolls. Agent Hyuuga story about her sister. All of it swam inside her like a sickly soup. Her eyes closed and she fell never hitting the ground.
Neji looked down at her, she was incoherent. He took off her gun belts.
"No" she mumbled in melancholy. A few tears slide out her closed eyelids.
Hinata watched as Captin Hyuuga ran outside the barn with Agent Heiki in his arms taking her to the ambulances.
The bomb squad spraying a special lipid in the grass that deactivated the detonating clay.
Director Uzumaki was on the phone as he stood by Nara, Uchiha, Harano and Herself before the barn.
"I hear there's over 100 puppets in there"
They all walked forward but Hinata and the director. "Will you go in there ?"
She stared at the building in disdain. She had to remember this was a job. "You think me… You think I can seriously help you in there ?"
"You need the experience. Cases will come to you directly from police agencies who believe they need us. You will sometimes see them before me. What's in there is not pretty and already has caused an officer to faint"..." discipline yourself hold back the emotional connection and use your educational one".
Her eyes faltered as she bit her lip swallowing with an absentminded nod. "Okay"
They began to walk forward. "I know you can help" he tells her.
The display is one that made her stomach churn as detectives take photos.
"We got to get these people down and somehow identify them matching them up to missing persons" a Senju county Detective complained
"Once we have 360 photography of the barn house and land we will leave" Director Uzumaki told him.
"Where is Sasori going ?" Hinata asked.
"We don't know yet. Senior Director Hatake flew in three hours ago. He's going to talk to Sasori directly. His orders."
They stood in front of the focal point of the puppet. A red head and brown head one hugging a small Sasori. With an older one looking over them.
"I think we found grandma" Uchiha said.
The pinkette bead tilted. "It's the centerpiece. The child puppet is actually wood".
"He doesn't kill young children"..." The profile was right about that" Sakura told him.
"Peter"
The director turned to Agent Hyuuga her pearl eyes darted back and forth at the display. "Peter Pan Syndrome" it comes out fast. She's right but lacks confidence.
"Agent Hyuuga you are corrected" Harano told her. "But we aren't profiling him anymore we're trying to understand his clay bomb wielding partner that got away"
Hinata felt discourage even when she takes 5 steps forward she gets knock 10 steps back. She did ignore her trainer orders. These people respect facts and answers. Results. She looked at the puppets then thinks back to Salamander. "Isn't it odd that the deceased has been disturbed twice in less than a week"
"Precisely Agent Hyuuga" Nara nodded to her as a phone rang.
"Uzumaki" the director said into his phone.
"Yes director"
He hung up and looked at his team. "They've matched wallets to missing person's in the land of wind. Most of the victims were from there. It's their case now".
"The second unsub !" Sasuke yelled" we need to".
"It's out of our hands Uchiha. Kakashi couldn't connect Hanzo killer to this one. The land of rain also is over that investigation. It will be treated as separate".
"A massacre in the rain
A sadistic puppeteer between wind and fire
And detonating clay user from the earth" Nara noted
"International terrorism" Uchiha followed.
"We saved a woman, found a stash of illegal bombs and will give over 100 families peace of mind. Let's take that and go home." The director told them.
Hinata trembled in her seat as the days' event's haunted her. Everyone was asleep on the plane, and she just been staring out the window in the night clouds as the jet engine provided a white noise.
The director had been typing the majority of the report before having to send it to the land of the wind. Her could hear the fluttering and knew someone was having trouble sleeping. He looked from his MacBook up at her. She stares into the window of the plane. He wanted her to succeed, but she's wears her heart on her sleeve and is kind-hearted. Sakura gave her a verbal warning. He knew her kind Nature will be her downfall but her dark blue hair shivering with her looked soft to the touch as if she was waiting for the warm embrace of something. Anything. He couldn't comfort her that way.
"You did good Agent Hyuuga"
She turned to him, and he could see bags under her pearl eyes. Her smiles she almost uncontrollably threw up at him 72 hours ago long gone, and he feels contradictions birth inside him. He wanted her to succeed, but he also hoped today didn't take away those smiles around the office.
She only stared at him in neutral.
"It's better not to console"..." you have to get use to it" he advised emphatic and softly.
She slowly turned from him. "I don't think I'll ever get use to it" she said to him.
He could see her reflection through the glass of the window. Still staring out spacey look.
He knew he should report what she just said to Hatake, but he was filled with the benevolence she had brought into the job and office. He couldn't finish his report. He couldn't sleep. He couldn't think. Only could he stare at his new Agent.
An: Akatsuki is just so interesting. I can see them as unsubs.
