Chapter Eight Triggered

Tenten dropped the Director and Agent Hyuga off at the hospital's entrance as she found a parking spot. Neji had been such a sweet man to her. He would come to her apartment replacing light bulbs, taking out the trash, buy her treats and check her tire pressure of her squad car. She trusted him completely. After she kissed him he never made an attempt to do that again but he does hold her hand from time to time. Being separated from him today is not ideal but he would want her to protect the Junior Director and his cousin if they need back up. She exited the car and began walking towards the hospital entrance. She's guessing Neji Shino Sai and Kiba were doing the formation around the building where the suspect is as back up for Agent Uchiha and Haruno. Or he could be charging in there for a bust. That caused her to worry dearly for him. Please be safe she willed as the cool air of the hospital vents blew on her face. The seashells police department were actively around.

Hinata looked from the window at Roshi laying there. An arm and leg amputated bandage as he tries to move them. She closed her eyes and winced before flashing them open. She looked back at him that shadow. She sees he is nervous behind is faux irritation.

On the day of her Interview Sasuke said he knew the Junior director. Hinata also knows he slips and calls Dr. Haruno Sakura sometimes. Such familiarity. She could study Human behaviors too, she spent six years doing so and it's time she stopped doubting herself. He cared about those two beyond them being on this team. Taking a short breath she marched inside.

"Mr Roshi Shi "

His sunken eyes look at her from the tray he was trying to grab.

"Who are you?" He asked untrusting and panic.

"I'm Agent Hinata Hyuga of the Konoha Anbu behavioral analysis unit. I speak with victims such as yourself to get a better understanding of who you are and what happen to you.

He shook his head. "I can't talk to you"

"You don't understand" he breathed fearfully.

Hinata sympathized with him, she did but her teammates needed her. She dialed the county prosecutor line. It rung as she looked from her phone back to him.

"I don't give a shit that you co conspired with him before he turned on you tell me everything you know and I'll fight for your behave"

He was still unconvinced.

"Hello prosecutor officer " a womanly voice answered.

"Hello I'm Agent Hinata Hyuga of the ABAU interviewing Roshi Shi the victim of the previous attack. If he talks I want a deal for him that includes witness protection" she tells into the speaker.

"Oh Goodness" she heard as foot steps followed.

"Seiji we have an national Agent wanting a deal for Roshi Shi. Witness protection for his involvement with the suspect "

"Ah" she hears a mans voice says as if he's done this a million times. "I can make no time served promises but if he talks an informant prison might be more comfortable then a federal one."

The bastard gave her the lowest of the low to work with. She holds up the front and looks at Roshi in his eyes that wavered he's weighing his opinions.

"Find okay"

"Tell me about the man who did this"

He shook his head. "He was a freak of nature. His skin was grey and he had. " he pauses in a sob. "A messed up sword made of little triangle teeth. He cut my arm and leg like a ribbon before sticking them in the shark cages. We were just paid to deliver packages for an organization"

"An organization?" she asked

He nods.

Hinata eyes widen as she processing this.

"How did you get away?"

"I can't remember. I woke up on the beach bleeding out. It felt like hours, days there were so much blood, but I'm still alive it must of been minutes"

She stood up her heels turned and she bolted down the halls looking for the Junior director who was no longer outside watching her.

Sasuke and Sakura had their weapons drawn. His black eyes looked into Officer Hyuga purple ones. "The loser doesn't need three federal agents walking into his den"

Neji gave him a look. "Last case you didn't draw your weapon"

"I have it now. "

Neji sighed. " kurama doesn't detect gun powder. I'll give you 10 minutes to make your arrest if you can't we'll come in " he says turning away.

Sasuke stood there before looking down at her.

"Officers" he says while walking into the exposed deck under a roof. She walked next to him as they looked around. She spotted a metal door to the right.

"Entrance?" Sasuke asked

"There " she whispered.

Naruto is in the room with the sixth victim body laid cold. He didn't make it watching as the nurses take him away his eyes catches a breathless Agent Hyuga.

"It's a trap! They're walking into a trap"

His hands quickly went to his ear. "Sasuke Sakura" he barked with no answered he pulled out his phone and tried Sasuke.

No answer.

"Damn it"

He quickly dialed Sakura.

"He hel oooOoo" the signal is choppy.

"Sakura get out there! Sasuke!"

The signal dropped and he paced around.

Hinata was watching him pace before the blood on the floor. She blinked at him. He shouldn't be in here. Walking forward she grabs his wrist and leads him out of there walking down the hall.

As soon as Sakura and himself closed the door it locked then Naruto called warning them. Water leaked from the ceiling of the tunnel they walked in.

Bang bang. He heard from behind him.

"Hyuga that's you?"

"Yeah" he says while trying to open it.

"The door is wielded shut" Sasuke told him.

"I can shoot a round at it"

That metal was very thick and altered. "I'll get you guys out you go get the suspect"

Hinata found a janitors closet and took him inside there as he had a phone to his ear. He ended the call as she blinked in a daze.

"What's happening?" She asked in a whisper.

He was already on another call. "You get all your men down their NOW with a blow torch, bulldozer it doesn't matter" he grunted out

"Sakura and Sasuke went in by themselves" he breaths as put his phone away.

Her eyes lowered to his chest. She wanted to ask more but doesn't. His emotions for those two runs deep.

"They'll be okay" she tries to comfort.

"I've been distracted this whole case" he says and she sees he is ashamed. "People have died my agents are trapped" he says while leaning against a shelf of supplies.

"Stop" she breathed. Her heart slowed each time he put himself down.

She step closer to him to him and her eyes look up at him with kindness and understanding.

She couldn't stop herself. She finally had a moment of him alone. She doesn't know how to fix the dark cloud over him but she closes her eyes and feels the tip of her nose in the side of his.

Naruto watched her on her tip toes closing her eyes coming closer to him and he moved his face closer to hers with his hands hovering by her hips. Heer she is. The real her. Not the one that kept her distance yesterday. He could feel her breathing on his chest her small hand mushed between their bodies. His finger tips pressed lightly on her body as the tip of her top lip touched his bottom one. He sharply pulled away from her and retreated his hands. Her face fell forward as she let out loud and deep breaths against him.

He couldn't look at her. She's probably embarrassed but they had to hold this thought.

Hinata was too entrapped to blush as she tried to catch her breath in his shoulder. She pulled away slowly before retreating completely to the other side of the room. She ran a hand down her neck into the collar of her shirt turning back to him.

"It's me isn't it? I'm distracting you" She ask

Their team is in danger and she's trying to kiss him. What's wrong with her? She couldn't just quit her job she needs it to pay her tuition but if she's causing him such discomfort by her presence she'll scream.

Naruto couldn't focus on what's at hand here and what's happening out there at the same time. She's complete recoiled from him. Walls practically a fortress around her already. She should know he didn't want to deny her at all but how could she they haven't spoke. Until he knew everyone he is responsible for is safe he couldn't allow himself to enjoy his personal life. He looked at her fidgeting uncomfortable arms crossed over her torso not looking at him face red. That's right this façade of business wouldn't last. It's personal. In that truth his jaw tighten and eyes fluttered down. It's best she thinks whatever she wants. Knowing women it's probably the worst of him and some place even deeper and dark she's thinking the worst of herself.

Signing he scratch the back of his neck.

Hinata watches him in his silence. He didn't answer her and she's reminded to when she ask him things before and he stayed quiet or she say something and he wouldn't have a response to it. "Umm Roshi said he had grayish skin and gills"

He looks back at her.

"It could be a medical condition or Zoanthropy. Ino expressed she only found his name because he orders cases of coke bottles from Mexico and sells bigger fish. His records are out of thin air besides identification" she says. "No school or hospital history"

"Hmm" he says.

"Hmm?" She asks it's the first thing he said in minutes since she tried to kiss him.

"Your profiling on your own" is all he points out.

She blushing and her eyes avert from him once again.

Sakura and Sasuke walked deeper into a tunnel as more water leaks were above there head.

"He keeps the creatures in tanks" she says as a splatter of water hit head head.

Sasuke could eyes looked around for any escape as rounds are being shot at the metal door a few feet behind them.

"This is the seashell police open up we have you surrounded" is being echoed all around them.

"Can I ask you something?" it's best he keep her distracted.

"Go ahead" she says.

"Who taught you that right hook?"

She rolled her eyes. "Sasuke-"

"I'm serious that Jab is deadly"

Sakura smiled despite herself then stopped. "I barely slapped you okay Naruto taught me" she says.

The amusement is drained and she clears her throat.

"Can I ask you something?"

The wave of her voice tells him she really wants to know whatever this something is.

"Where do you go, when you leave?"

So much for distracting her. "We should be focus"

Sakura squinted her eyes. "Bullshit" she mumbled while walking past him.

"Sakura don't walk to fast!"

Tenten

Standing at the end of the hall she hand her hands behind her back. In view the the room where Mr. Roshi had been recovering. She been waiting for Agent Hyuga and director Uzumaki to return by the end of the hall way. Most of the officers of the county had went to that warehouse. She hoped Neji and everyone else would be okay. There job as officers is to protect. She frowned he's doing his job and she couldn't find The Junior director. Taking a deep breath she decided to check the bathrooms. As she walked at the end of hall she saw a deep dark cloud in her vision on a black coat. Her eyes looked up to see a overly luscious blonde ponytail with a thick side bang swiping over an metal geared eyepatch. The man chewed cockily on gum as he dug into his pocket. That cloak it's the same as Sasoris and they been warned about an arsonist with blonde hair per the victim that was rescued.

The door open to an room as a nurse passed her up and Director Uzumaki stepped out.

Naruto eyes is on the man immediately as Officer Heikei yelled.

" grenade " Tenten shrill while taking the nurse into the nearest room.

Hinata face had planted right onto floor as she sucked back inside the janitor closet with an huge heavy body smashing hers. The rapid fire and explosions made her blood turn cold and heart pound as her hair flew into her face. The pull of the Junior director was just that forceful to make her hair tie slid off. Only when the shooting stop had she noticed it was him on top of her shielding her underneath. His hands were tangled in in her hair covering the temple of her head.

She took deep breaths as her blood defrost and began pumping due to adrenaline fright. Her hand clenched into his arms.

Naruto was breathing above her as she shivered in fear underneath him. He kept his hands on her temples and frontal lobe as he listened in.

"You want to do it this way in a hospital you coward" he heard Agent Heikei voice followed by two shots.

"The ability to create is predestined and bland. Real Authenticity is in those who destroy. True Art is an explosion"

He heard as three beeps follow and the building shakes.

Pop pop pop.

"I hit him! " she yells. He looks down at Hinata

"Get out of here okay get to safety"

Her head covered in Indigo locks nodded. He lowered his neck and kissed her on her cheek close by her ear.

Hinata eyes widen as they water and he is ejected from her running into the line of fire.

She sits up and her hand is reaching towards where he left her alone and her entire body shaking. Her heart split open in overwhelming concern for that man she only knows as the director and her first.

Get to safety

She stood up and began running out into a cloud of smoke meshing in with employees of the hospital and scared patients.

"Which way do we go?"

Boom

"Ahhhhh!"

Pedestrians panic.

She pressed the button in her ear.

"Ino " she breathed deeply and womanly in a voice she wouldn't recognize as her own.

"Hinata" her coworker says back. "What happen?"

"Blue" she breathed in the brown grey ash. "Blue prints! We're on the floor where patient Roshi Shi is recovering end of the hallway opposite of the window"

"I'll have that for you in 10 seconds "

"EVERYONE CALM DOWN IN fifteen seconds I'm going to direct us out of here"

"Who's that?"

"My name is Hinata Hyuga I'm with the Anbu investigating the shark attacks I'm this town!"

"Hinata there are a set of stairs to the right of you GO it's a straight shot!"

"Everyone go right" she says and bolts right her feet hauling towards the end of the hall with her hands in front of her. Her lungs filling with smoke and she can no longer breath until she slams hard into metal and could see blue so much much blue the same colors of the Director eyes. It's the sky a huge rush of air fill her lungs and she's being pushed along down the fire case stairs with the stampede behind her.

Naruto saw him there he's made it to the floor below them. He held a Grenade his thumb playing with the top of the pen.

Okay Naruto breathed to himself as his gun is drawn.

This could be it he thinks.

Mom her pretty face flashes through his eyes. Dad his father always the coolest guy in the room.

I'm sorry.

What has he left behind? A little above average career as the Junior director of the ABAU.

He looks at this psycho laughing and grinning playing with the pen of the explosive like a child does a toy.

What legacy has he made?

His best friend couldn't tell him anything real about his life and the women he use to picture sharing a life with didn't feel the same.

Again he Ask himself for the third time what legacy did he have?

That's what he was thinking before he kissed her. If he died right now she missed him.

If he makes it out of here he's going to take her on a date. Yeah flowers and ask her to stay with him.

Hinata pulled her hair back into a ponytail as she watched the building blinking in pained numbness.

Sakura walked ahead and found stairs that lead to the door she burst it open as Sasuke called to her. She's face to to face with a great white. Huge tanks of water are all over the warehouse. She heard someone curse and she tighten her grip on the gun.

"Who's there?" She yelled

Sasuke was now by her side. "I told you to wait!" He barked at her.

"I don't have to listen to you. I've been doing this longer"

"A lovers quarrel? " a deep voice asked and she gulped as the man the size of a small giant came down stairs. Her eyes widen as she saw that red cloud is on his chest the same as Sasori's and the same as the one Aiko saw.

Sasuke had already noticed the same symbol they're toying with them. They did this.

"Hardly" He scoffs

When Sasuke said that she did a small gasp before gathering herself. Okay he didn't give a shit about her not even a little bit.

"Sasuke" the man says and mid anger she went cold. "Uchiha "

Sasuke had his eye lined with the tip of his gun. "How do you know me?" He says

Sakura is equally as rattled at Sasukes change in demeanor. He shot out a hand and pushed her behind him.

"Let's say we know a mutual party"

"Who?" Sasuke ask.

Sakura was unsure what to do but noticed the Sharks have all gather towards the glass.

"Do you know sharks are ovoviviparous"

"They hatch before birth"Sasuke says.

"That's correct. Did you know some sharks that hatch inside don't make it out? Siblings eating siblings right from the start"

Sasuke could feel his mouth fill with clinical sliver tasting salvia as his heart pace has sped up.

Sakura could see Sasuke shoulders rise and fall deeper and deeper with each passing second.

"Who's our mutual party?"

Sakura frowned and step from behind him her gun drawn. "Put your hands up now!" She yells as they ignore her and stare at each other.

"Itachi has a message for you it's up on my desk"

Sasuke eyes blacken as his lips dropped. Itachi? He's involved with these people? His feet darted up stares and he sees a crow in a bird cage with a letter around its ankle.

Sakura is stuck in her startle state by how quickly Sasuke reacted to just a name. Itachi?

She watched him fumble upstairs in the loft as the man in front of her had gotten close to her.

Sasuke eyes trembled as he read the numbers and words on the small white piece of paper. It's his brother hand writing. This guy was legit. He knew his brother and where he is. His heart pounded in covet. He yearned to see his brother again. Itachi is the governments little big screw up.

"Ahh" Sakura Yelp and the pull towards the message his brother wrote started to pull downstairs he walked to see that man pulling Sakuras pink hair up the stairs above the tank.

She was crying and he frowned with a scrunched on his nose just seeing his grey fingers tangled in her rose hair infuriated him.

"Let her go" he growled as the pounding of the door grew louder

"She knows to much"

"She knows NOTHING let" he had to pause as all the air in his lungs came out with the words. "Her" heh heh "go!"

Sasuke reached into his pocket noticing the man had no intentions of letting her go. Pushing her face above the water. She cried as her nose got wet.

He pulled out a five knifes putting them between his fingers and tossing them into his arm that had Sakura. She falls off the makeshift stair case and Kisame yells in pain. Sasuke jumped from the loft back flipping onto the floor and scoped her up into his arms.

The door burst opens and came charging in Hyuga, Sai , Nara, Inzuka, Auburame and the supporting police.

"Put your hands up ! Do it now!" Neji yelled up at him.

He stood before the tank and he smiled as he held his dripping arm over the tank.

"The information I have. Will stay with me, Sasuke" he says and the man who was walking away with the tender woman in his arms turned around.

"We're called the Akatsuki" he says before falling backward into the tank.

Sasuke sharply turned around as the officers watched in horror and others started retching.

He hadn't noticed he was bouncing Sakura up and down until they were outside.

"Are you okay Sakura?"

"Shoulders dislocated" she said with a haltered breath

"Do you want me to?"

"No I can go it. I'm an M.D too you know" she softly smiled she twisted her arm back together with a loud scream before she took a breath of relief. It didn't last long. What she heard in there. She's suppose to put the law before anything but she knew so little about him and what that guy said to him.

"Sasuke I won't say anything" she whispers to him.

His head is lowered it's as if he is frozen after she said that until.

"Thank you" comes out.

Hinata had been so worried as she watched people one by one evacuate the building never seeing a head of blonde as news vans bomb squad and swat teams arrived. Two more explosions came from inside the pulse is ponding in her ear as her jaw is dropped in a sob. A helicopter flew over head causing a gush of wind and numbness. She couldn't hear anything anymore her lavender eyes looked but could not see what is in present.

She remembers driving in his car and he told her he wanted his face on the monument above the capital with his father. She closed her eyes as tears freely flew out of her eyes.

His kiss to her cheek still stung against her ear. She hadn't had enough time with him. Even if he wants nothing to do with her anymoe

"Wait look it looks like someone is coming out"

Her eyes rises and she saw the silhouettes of two people one with his arm on the other.

When the dust settle she saw the sun in blonde hair and a spec of his birthmark.

Her face fell in her palm as she cried into it almost falling over. Shoulders in a hunch as tries to muffle her cries.

"It's the Junior director of the ABAU he has suspect in custody"

Naruto handed the asshole to the bomb squad he had bombs everywhere. A block from the hospital a van was found with even more explosives and detonating clay. Patients were air lifted to the closes general hospitals and thankfully this time no additional casualties. He just learned what happen at the docks with The team and Kisame.

The Akatsuki. He knew immediately he would have to build a file for this organization. Kakashi wants them back as soon as possible but

His vision can see the woman talking with a doctor by an ambulance. His foot began towards her and she saw him coming.

"What the doctor say?" He asked "are you cleared"

"A few cuts and bruises but it should heal within the next two to three days and you?"

He shook his head. "I'm okay"

Hinata could see a few open small cuts in his eyebrow. "Your bleeding"

"I'll be okay" he repeats

Hinata eyes watered again as she licked her lips slowly while looking at him in silence.

He shield her completely in there.

"Tha -Thank you " she stammered.

He smiled gently at her.

"You were worried about me?"

She nodded and wiped her eyes.

His phone rung she watched him look at it then back at her.

"Go ahead" she says

They share a few seconds of staring at each other until he answers and walks away she watches him getting in the SWAT truck and driving away.

Naruto looked out at the window behind the tint she still stared at the vehicle Her red eyes, nose and lips proof of the grief she felt. His lips winced and he forced himself to turn away from such a sight.

If not for Tenten sneaking behind the arsonist as he engaged in a art debate with that bastard he would've been toast.

Arguing that true art is the beginning and not the end. The suspect became more and more undone as they argued when she snatched the weapon out his palms and Naruto tackled him.

His job is demanding and life threatening but he is committed to it.

Deidara were in they're custody. Hinata stood on the landing strip next to her colleagues. The senior director flew with the pilots that were taking them home. When the tall man go off the plane. She watched him walk straight to the officers towards Sai.

"We're going to have you join us in building the profile for this on going case." He says then turn towards Director Uzumaki.

"You okay? Haruno? Uchiha? Nara? Hyuga?"

"Yeah" Sakura nodded with Her arm in a sling.

"You four will be on this case specifically"

Hinata ears burn in embarrassment as he didn't make eye contact with her.

"The case is going continental if they make an appearance outside of our continent then it will be a world wide problem"

Everyone grew tense as he turned around back to the plane. "Let's get started. Uchiha and Uzumaki you'll join me in interrogation Deidara is on a federal plane to Konoha. He's staying in our custody."

"Will he talk?" Sasuke asked him.

"No" Kakashi answered.

The clouds cut through the jet wing. Junior director Uzumaki will have to give the results of her evaluation to Senior director Hatake. Who she thinks hates her or thinks she's incompetent for his role. She looked down at her feet. Men's leather shoes were in the carpet next to her. Her eyes looked towards the junior director his eyes were low blonde head sinking into the seat and turned sideways watching her. Tired blue eyes under a band aid eyebrows stared at her.

Her eyelashes fluttered down as she sat back in her seat.

They weren't touching or talking but she felt comfortable being beside him knowing he is next to her

Could you truly know someone who never told you his first name. It was poor judgment to sleep with him but he saved her life. Then kissed her cheek before running into the fire fight.

With that thought lingering his rejection of a kiss didn't hurt as much.

That kiss on her cheek was the best of her life.

Naruto sat in the chair across from his superior.

Kakashi hands were crossed under his covered nose.

"How did Agent Hyuga do?" Kakashi asks

Naruto reach into his brief case and pulled out the papers handing it to him.

Kakashi took them and scanned over them.

"You passed her?"

"That's right"..." she figured out it was stage as their introduction as terrorist before anyone else did and she handled the media with graceful affirmation" he says ringing his hand under his chin resting it there as an a elbow leaned on the desk. His fingers rubbed under his nose nonchalantly.

"Well. I trust your judgment even if it's do now think later most of the time. The probation period is over. She's staying with us"

Neji was proud of her everyone were. She was honored for her efforts against the arsonist.

Tenten sat on her couch watching a movie with him. They been laughing and flirting with each other but when she leaned into his arm he let her stay. She closed her eyes and smiled snuggling into the side of his shoulder her head laying there as the credits rolled. She felt pure peace until she heard there nation anthem instrumental playing as an ad for the Mizu Corp played.

Her eyes flew open and she watched as a man in blue pixilated camouflage jumping out of a helicopter into the sea and emerging from the water.

"Hey look, it's you" he teases

"Join today and fight for Konoha"

Her heart stopped as panic floods her. Her eyes widen.

"That's no not me" she stammered

"What?" He asked

"That's not me THATS NOT FUCKING ME!" She screamed pulling herself from him and standing up running to her bathroom locking the door.

She cried as she felt his knocks against the wooden door.

"Tenten I'm sorry I didn't mean"

"Just go" she says

"No" he says

"No?" She questions

"LEAVE!"

"NO!"

She said go and he wouldn't he wouldn't listen to her. He told her no. He denied her request.

"Tenten tell me what happen to you?"

"LEAVE LEAVE FUCKING LEAVE RIGHT NOW!"

She freaks and the slam of her front door made her knees go out as she balled up closing her eyes sobbing against the cold tile her face pressed into it.

She cried herself numb on the floor the Will to move escaped her as she spent hours counting to 10.
