Chapter 2: The Planet

Following the Mystic's instructions, Djarin had piloted the Razor Crest beyond Tatooine's Twin Suns. Not knowing how far 'Remnant' was from the suns, Djarin decided not to go into hyperspace and prepare for whatever lay ahead of him. The first thing he did was give the Child the metallic ball he loved to play with. Djarin never knew how the Child could love such a small thing, but he learned to like it as well. After all, realizing that he forgot to put the ball back on his switch on Nevarro was what caused Djarin to turn back and save the Child from the Imperials.

After checking his weapons and food supplies, the Mandalorian returned to the cockpit of his ship. He found himself lost in thought about the new world he was going to. He was especially curious about what the Mystic had told him. "Far from the authority of both the Empire and the New Republic. Vastly different from the ones where you and your people have become legend." It seemed strange to even think about how the Empire never claimed Remnant as one of its conquered systems. After all, the Empire destroyed and conquered everything it laid its sinister eyes on. Coruscant. Alderran. Mandalore. Djarin's thoughts immediately shifted to how his people lost everything to the Imperials. His home, his people, all gone. Thinking this sent a wave of anger through Djarin, tension rising throughout his body. His anger immediately left him after hearing the Child laugh at his toy. Looking towards him, the Mandalorian smiled under his helmet. Ever since Nevarro, his bond to the Force-sensitive child had only gotten stronger. His thoughts returned to the Mystics' wisdom of Remnant. "Remnant is a world rich in the Force. The natives are even able to manipulate it in a very… unique way." Thinking about this and knowing only what the Child could do with the Force made Djarin realize he would have to be careful on Remnant. If the natives could do things the Child couldn't, that made them dangerous. The last piece of advice made him realize he would have to be even more cautious. "You will meet very powerful people on the world of Remnant. Choose your allies wisely, or your mistake may cost you your life." Djarin was never a man whose trust could be won easily. The trust and respect of a Mandalorian cannot be bought or demanded; it must be earned. This is the Way. Yet, Djarin knew he would encounter hostility on Remnant, one way or another. What he didn't know was how long his search for the Relic of Knowledge would take. He would need help, so Djarin knew he had to take the Mystic's wisdom to heart.

After a half hour of travelling beyond the suns, Djarin heard a unique alarm go off, which snapped him back to reality. This wasn't an alarm of incoming ships or asteroids. No, this alarm meant he had arrived somewhere. Looking out his window, he realized he reached his destination: the world of Remnant. Before finding a place to land, he decided to look at the Razor Crest's technical readout of the world. Immediately, Djarin realized something was wrong. His computer showed that Remnant was densely populated, with the computer showing major cities located in each major land mass. Yet, there were no major starports. In fact, the computer couldn't find ANY starports. Of course, worlds like Sorgan didn't have major starports. After all, it was slightly below average in planet size. Yet, Remnant was massive, and had the population to show it.

"This isn't right." Djarin thought to himself. "How could a world like this have little space travel? And what the hell did THAT?" he said as his attention turned towards Remnant's moon. Only, it looked like a part of a moon. A major chunk of it was scattered, with bits and pieces caught in the planet's gravity. The moon was destroyed, yet it still seemed able to rotate around the planet. Normally, an asteroid would leave a crater in a moon. But whatever did this was certainly no asteroid. He immediately thought about turning back, this world didn't seem right at all. But looking back at the Child made him regain his senses. No, he came too far to turn back now. He had to press on. So, first things first; find a place to land. Djarin decided to head towards a large continent and see what would happen. "I have a bad feeling about this."

Landing in a clearing in a forest, Djarin decided to take a look around. His computer showed a settlement not far from his position, about a ten-minute walk. Seeing the Child was fast asleep, and unable to shake the feeling he received from his initial look at Remnant, he decided to travel alone. Putting the Child in his usual 'bedroom', Djarin locked all the doors inside the Razor Crest. The Child had a bad habit of wandering off when it wasn't supposed to, so it was wise that Djarin upgraded the ships' doors. Even though it required the work of two droids in his ship. Taking a blaster pistol and his Amban sniper rifle, he left the Crest.

Djarin's bad feeling immediately grew worse after arriving into town. He immediately caught the attention of every citizen he could see. Wherever he walked, everyone's gaze was following him. Returning everyone's gaze, he noticed that there were quite a lot of humans here. With any luck, some of them might speak Basic. His hopes of this seemed to immediately come true when he heard what sounded like a broadcast on a wall. "The perpetrators, Cinder Fall, Hazel Rainart, Emerald Sustrai, and Mercury Black have still not been seen since the attack and are presumed to have fled the city. The Mistral police department is offering a reward to any citizen…" This was perfect timing for Djarin. If he could capture at least one of these people, maybe the proper authorities could be of some help. If not, having some extra credits wouldn't hurt either. Seeing that their last known location was a place called Haven Academy, he decided to check it out.

Seeing that the town was packed with people and it was hard to move around, Djarin decided to cut into an alleyway for a shortcut. After going about halfway, he immediately heard a deep voice call out to him. "Nice outfit, buddy." Turning around, Djarin saw a man dressed in a purple jacket and bandanna with what seemed to be armor at his shoulders. "I know someone who'll pay a hefty sum for it."

"Not interested. This isn't for sale." The Mandalorian said as he started walking away, slightly annoyed. After all, this wasn't the first time someone wanted his armor. And it certainly wouldn't be the last.

"You misunderstood, friend. What I meant to say was, I know someone who'll pay me a hefty sum for it." the man replied with a snap of his fingers.

Three more people dressed in purple with the same bandanna arrived at the other side of the alley, all guns pointed at Djarin. "You a betting man?" the first man asked him.

"No. I don't leave my fate up to chance." The Mandalorian replied, knowing all too well this wouldn't end well. For them.

"I like that. Then you should know that taking off that armor would be the smart thing to do." he said, approaching closer.

"Not gonna happen, 'friend'." Djarin said, his gauntlet making a clicking noise.

"Thought you said you weren't a betting man."

"I'm not."

Four small projectiles immediately launched from Djarin's gauntlet, hitting the first man square in the chest. He was dead before he even hit the ground. The other three whistling birds flew straight behind the Mandalorian, hitting all but one of their targets. A blonde girl was able to dodge the last one as it hit a wall while the other two hit their targets in each of their heads. She immediately made a run for it in another alley, hoping to get back to the main street and lose her pursuer in the crowd. Unfortunately for her, the Mandalorian was quick on the draw, shooting a blaster bolt right in her upper leg. Falling to the ground in pain, she saw the armored warrior approaching her. She then had a desperate idea. "I don't know why you're here, but if you let me live and go back on your way, I can make it worth your while." she said as she pulled out a small bag and tossed it towards him, with some of the contents falling out.

As the Mandalorian picked up the bag, he saw its contents; ten plastic cards with a light green color. "What is this?" he asked her.

"What? You've never seen Lien before?"

"Lien?" The Mandalorian asked.

"Um, Remnant's currency? You getting any air in that tin can? Sounds like it's giving you brain ... AHHH!" she yelled as another bolt hit her other leg. Djarin immediately remembered that Remnant was far from the Empire and New Republic. It seems that the credits and other money he acquired as a bounty hunter wouldn't do him any good here. He made a mental note of this as he aimed his blaster at her head.

"Wait! We saw you earlier watching the news. You're looking for the people who attacked the academy right? I know where one of them is." the girl pleaded.

"…Go on" Djarin replied.

"Cinder Fall, she came to our boss for help finding four girls. You know, the ones who helped defend Haven. She's here in Mistral, and she'll be coming back to our base tonight. If you take me there, I'll tell my boss you can help capture her. The police have a reward for her capture. You can split the reward or something, just let me live."

Djarin took a moment to consider this. If this planet only had one type of currency that wasn't available anywhere else in the galaxy, the reward wouldn't do him much good. However, as he was walking around town earlier, he noticed numerous posters about Haven Academy, a place to train "Huntsmen" and "Huntresses." The posters had a symbol that looked very similar to the Relic of Knowledge. If this 'Cinder Fall' led an attack on it, there had to be a reason. So, he decided he would 'question' her once he caught her.

"Fine. But if I see something I don't like, I'm holding you responsible. Understood?" he asked her.

"Deal. Help me up?" she asked.

Putting his blaster away, Djarin helped the girl off the ground and carried her towards the main street.

"I hope this isn't a waste of time." he said to himself.

Author's notes: thank you to everyone who read and replied to my first chapter. I'm really glad I caught your attention with this, I honestly wasn't expecting people to like it very quickly. I'll try to make every chapter entertaining. For those who don't know, this will be taking place during RWBY Volume 6 and after Season 1 of The Mandalorian. I promise not to spoil anything for both (I've been watching Season 2 and Volume 8).

To barrera2009, thanks for the input. Don't worry, I won't make Mando OP. I've seen him fight, I know what he's good at and what he's not good at. Also, I have a couple of ideas to make things better than canon RWBY. But you'll have to wait and see.

To DarkPhoenix455, thanks for the tip. I made this chapter slightly longer than my first one, but next chapter will be longer.

One last thing; I don't have a set schedule for updating. I just had a big opening in my day and decided to write another chapter. Future chapters will come sooner or later (I'm sorry if the wait will be long). While you're writing, I'd recommend reading some other RWBY works from another user; Unknown user3324. He has really good RWBY stuff, so definitely check him out. He actually inspired me to write this story. Anyways, thanks for reading!
