Note: Thanks to small-ish updates in canon, this chapter was pretty easy to write! Enjoy.
Date: Mid November. I'm still tracking down that lead to whoever is after my team.
I was able to get in contact with Nell today. Reassured her that I'm okay, and that I hope to come home soon. She was telling me that everything was under control, and I had no reason to worry.
From the way she sounded, I could tell that she was only doing the best she could in my situation. Being in charge is so much more then just phone calls and sitting behind a desk, I can only sit back and hope she dosn't get anyone killed with one wrong decision. Which is not all that reassuring at all, but I have to trust her right now.
Thankfully, I have my ways of getting info on cases my team can handle. This latest one involved a missile.
I was very curious as to what was going on with the rest of the team, I asked Nell what was going on with the others. She said that her partner, Eric, was away showing off his new technology and had become more eccentric then ever. (which I found unbelievable because well, is that even possible?! He's impossible to deal with when he's on a random sugar rush!).
I asked her how The Squid and the Dagger (the name of the bar one of the agents own) was doing, and she said that while she dosn't go by there much, she suspects that something is wrong.
She also said that the new people were fitting in well, so that's a good thing.
Our connection was getting spotty, so we had to cut our conversation short, again.
Do I feel bad about leaving her in charge like this? Very much so, because there is a lot that comes with my job, and I wouldn't force anyone on the team into my position. But right now, my top priority is protecting them. Which meant, dragging an agent who clearly wanted out of this life back in, and into my position.
Some days, I really don't like this job, but someone has to do it.
I also wish that I knew how long I'll be stuck here. Because I'd rather be behind my desk right now with a bottle of Scotch instead of hoping that the place that I'm staying at dosn't get bombed!
That's enough for now. (and I also hope that she dosn't drink all of my liquor.)
