Series 4 Episode 1 - Caroline wakes up in hospital. Probably a one-shot.

Caroline and Kate after the end of series 2. I've never written before, but need something to occupy my mind (and the hopeless romantic in me!) until November..

So, I'm taking it back to before all the horror of the last couple of weeks and seeing if there was any possible way that things could have gone slightly differently. Not sure how long this will be.

In this short story we get to know Caroline's and Kate's opinion regarding S3 (aka John's novel). Will it be that much different than ours?

We must always hope.

Series 2...Caroline arrives home to find John and Judith 'at it' in her house so she packs the boys in the car and heads for Kate's place. I have often mused about what happens at Kate's...here is my version of events.

John gives Caroline an early draft of his new novel and she's dismayed to find that not only has he not left Alison Waterhouse behind as he'd promised, but he's written a version in which he manages to upset pretty much every member of the extended Dawson/Elliot/Greenwood family. Caroline is not pleased. This is my alternative series three, from episode 3 onwards.

Kate McKenzie is new in town. On the first day in her new job, she meets 2 women who want very different things from her. Will Kate be able to fit both people into her life or will she need to sacrifice who she really is make these friendships work?

A missing scene between Kate and Will, after he faints seeing Judith, and a heart-to-heart with his Mom's girlfriend. Might continue this a series of drabbles, if I get enough reviews. ;) We know Will loves Kate, but rarely see the two interact. Please read and review! UPDATED- CH.4 IS UP! In response to the tremendous stuff-up that has occurred on Last Tango in Halifax, let me FIX it for you. The policeman knocks on Caroline's door, and after that we have a tale of realisation, hurt, recovery, pain and joy all rolled into one. With all we know of Caroline, we know this won't be easy for her, but what we do know is that Kate and Caroline will live happily ever after

my fix-it, Kate shouldn't have died story. The title gives away the inspiration source.

Moving some of my LTiH stuff over here from AO3. This is one of the first LTiH stories I wrote. It's set in the times we didn't see during series 1 and 2. Caroline, in 1.05: "If I love and trust someone enough to have sex with them, I don't want them relegated to the fourth division. I want them here. Where I can have them. Any time I like." And she likes quite a bit.

Sally Wainwright may have chosen to write-off the wonderful coupling of Kate and Caroline but I certainly haven't.

A Last Tango in Halifax vignette because I like getting into Caroline's head.

This is set two years post LTIH Series 3 and gently introduces a new woman into Caroline's life.

Kate McKenzie has got her dream job at Sulgrave Heath, the oldest and poshest boarding school in Yorkshire. She's got her dream flat, too, but there's only one problem - the intimidating headmistress lives next door. But she begins to realize that the woman next door isn't exactly what she seems...and that her discovery could have consequences both personal and professional.

A few fluffy notes on our favourite ladies, Caroline and Kate, as they embark on parenthood together. Everyone is alive and well! The characters do not belong to me, I have merely borrowed them. Thanks for reading.

John is about to publish a new 18-chapter novel based largely on Caroline's and Gillian's lives, and Caroline is livid - particularly about the last six chapters, in which John makes the ridiculous decisions to kill off Caroline's new wife, invent an illegitimate son for Alan, and even upend Harry's longboat. She and Gillian talk about it over lunch.

A couple of imagined vignettes that might've happened before the reunion of S2, Ep6 and contributed to Kate deciding to come back and give Caroline one last chance.
